+ -1 moreJames came by to give an estimate of tree removal related to some storm damage we had. In the process we also decide to take out a few additional trees in order to increase our replanting options. In the end we had about 7 medium to large trees taken down. He was very prompt in providing the estimate (the lowest of those we got) and was able to schedule the work within a couple of weeks. In the end it was about two full days of work for the removal and cleanup. This included removal of all the softwoods and cutting up of the hardwoods so that we could later split and use for firewood. Quality of the work was good and I feel like I got a lot of value.

+ -1 moreThe estimate was given on the spot and the price was lower than the other 2 companies I called. Also, they were the only company that used a boom truck to get to the higher trees and limbs in the yard. The other 2 companies were going to climb the trees and prune them while they were dangling from the trees and tall ladders for the smaller ones that could not be climbed . I don;t think they would have been able to get half of the work done that James English was able to accomplish. They used large sheets of plywood so the wheels of the boom truck did not chew up the yard. The work took all day and the yard looks amazing. They were able to clear aways years or overgrowth and deadwood. We are very pleased with the outcome and may have them back in the spring to do another section of the property.

+ -1 moreMy initial phone message was answered within a day. After reviewing situation he submitted cost estimate. Several days later work was scheduled and completed.
Description of Work: Eliminated limbs of large oak which extended above and across busy street. Also trimmed away unattractive lower limbs of several other trees on my property. I no longe worry about downed power lines from falling branches off my oak tree during future storm.

Description of Work: James English Tree Service did leaf removal and stump grinding of a large oak tree in 2011. He did some trimming of trees in the yard and removal of a large branch.

+ -1 moreWe were completely satisfied with the work done by James English. It was done in a professional and timely manner for a very reasonable price. He was very responsive when we first reached out to him and we enjoyed the consultation with him. He walked us around the whole property and explained to us everything that should be done. You could tell he has been doing this for years and was a true professional. We also liked that he was not forceful in having us complete all the recommendations he made to us. Once we agreed on all the work to be completed, he gave us an estimate on when he would initiate the job and he kept to his timeline. It only took him and his crew two days to complete the job! We were impressed. They didn't leave any mess behind. If we have any additional tree work that needs to be completed we will definitely use James English again.
Description of Work: We recently purchased a house with a decent amount of property (overall one acre). We needed some major help with trimming the trees surrounding our house. Our front yard was covered by two large maple trees with large overgrown limbs. We had another maple and an oak tree on either side of the house that also had large overgrown limbs hanging over our garage and house roof. The middle of our backyard was covered with juniper that was growing out of control. All of these issues had us on a hunt for a good arborist. James English was recommended to us by a coworker. When we had our consultation with him, he agreed we needed to have all the work done to the trees and juniper mentioned above. In addition he recommended removing a maple tree that was too close to the house because it was being forced to grow over our roof, and also trimming all the large branches coming out from the wooded area in the back that lined our property. In the end, James English did the following: Trimmed and shaped 4 maples, 3 oaks and 1 birch tree Removed a large maple and ground the stump Removed a very large juniper bush and ground all the stumps Removed a large shrub and ground the stump
