Gardens By The Yard did a great job of maintaining my yard with regular mowing and fall cleanup last season. I especially appreciated it as the leaves started to fall. The crew was courteous and friendly and the price was very reasonable. I will be using them again this year.

Leisha and her Gardens By The Yard crew did a great job with snow removal. The crew was prompt and courteous. They were very careful to not destroy shrubbery surrounding the driveway. I have had previous bad experiences where plow drivers were not as careful. They also tackled the frozen wall of snow at the end of the driveway left by the town plows. Leisha was great in communicating the plans during all of the storms we have had, so there was no guessing as to if or when the crew would show up and the cost was very reasonable. I would highly recommend the snow removal services provided by Gardens By The Yard!

I have worked a great deal through the past year with Leisha, the owner of Gardens by the Yard as we worked through our design and actually did our install. We had literally done nothing in our yard for several years after we moved in. As a result the trees and shrubs were totally overgrown and overwhelmed our house. Leisha was very patient in understanding what I wanted from my design - colors, textures, desire to incorporate ornamental grasses. She shared many pictures of plants and landscapes with me to understand what I like. She finalized our design after much thought to my preferences as well as my need to make sure that the landscape was maintainable I.e. Pest and disease resistant etc. When we ripped out the old landscape we realized that some areas were not as shady as we had originally thought. Even though we had started our project, Leisha was so accommodating in revisiting the design and making some major changes to incorporate new plants that met the new light requirements even though it meant driving miles away to a nursery to get some of the new plants. It was her flexibility and willingness to work with me throughout the whole project that I most appreciated. The time that she personally puts in during the project and her expertise truly differentiates her from other landscaping companies. Her crew who completed the entire install over a couple of days were punctual, hard working, diligent and went the extra mile all through. They recommended places to transplant some of the old plants in alternate places in the backyard. Friends and neighbors have used words like transformational, amazing etc with the new look. I am enjoying my new landscape daily and am so glad that I could work with Leisha. I would absolutely recommend Gardens by the Yard - especially if you are looking at a new landscaping project and don't know where to begin.

We have been extremely happy with Gardens by the Yard and it's owner, Leisha, in particular. When we were initially interviewing landscapers, Leisha was the only person to spend more than a few minutes with us. In fact, she came prepared with ideas and binders with pictures of different types of plants. She took the time to listen to us, and to get a good sense of what we hoped to accomplish, as well as what our budget and limitations were. Leisha is extremely knowledge about plants and other aspects of landcaping and design. She is truly passionate about her work, and it is a pleasure to work with someone who cares so much about the work she does. Throughout the process, she was very available to us, and willing to generate ideas and work through tricky aspects of the project, but was also very attentive to our considerations and never pushed us to go beyond our budget or other limitations of the project. Our project is nearly complete and we are thrilled with the results. Removal of the junipers from the slope was difficult, but Leisha and her crew were conscientious and dilligent. The crew members were always very polite, professional and hardworking. Leisha was responsive to us and worked up a great design. She did a great job of consulting with us, but not adding costs with a labored design process. The results are terrific. We now have a variety of hardy, lovely, low maintenance plants that complement our home. We have replaced a large eyesore with a big beautiful bed of plants. The new landscaping makes our yard look bigger and much prettier. We plan to use GBTY again would highly recommend them.

We were very pleased with the work Leisha did. She was very professional in her approach and also warm and friendly. She listened to our concerns and responded to them. She had good suggestions and the end result has been a beautiful garden where there is always something blooming. Though we have lived in our house for more than 45 years, this is the first time that we have had a REAL garden. Leisha responded to our questions and made good suggestions. We are planning to keep working with her as the garden goes through its various stages over the next year. At times, we have had to wait/are still waiting for particular plants but I believe it is because they may not be available at this time. Leisha was willing to drive to Rhode Island to pick up a particular plant that we liked. Fortunately, she found a good substitute closer by!

We initially met Leisha (owner of Gardens by the Yard) in 2011 or 12 when we puchasd an Angie's List deal for $99 for landscape design. At that time Leisha came up with a plan to change the landscaping in the front of the house which was overgrown and included two evergreens that were completely blocking sunlight into the living room. Her plan included taking into account how much light and shade we got, and which animals were around that were likely to eat certain plants. She also transplanted the plants she thought would benefit from that and still thrive. We had her implement the plan and were extremely pleas with the results. Whenever we asked her advice by email about the plants she was very helpful and she has an encyclopedic knowledge of the plants she uses. When one of the plants didn't do well she replaced it without extra charge. She would drive by occasionally and check on our property and send us an email if she was worried we weren't watering enough,, etc. After that great experience we hired her again to draw up plans to redo the rest of the front yard. The plans included a stone wall, replacing a damaged light post, cutting down trees and then grinding the stumps and regrading the property, new grass, and even taking down a large raised bed to created a natural play space for children. Her ideas and plans were absolutely beautiful and we only regret that we couldn't implement them all because at that time we realized we were going to need to move for career reasons. We did implement some of the plan and we couldn't ask for better results. We also realized that we were way too busy this summer to keep up the lawn care so we asked her team to do the lawn maintenance and weeding, which they did faultlessly. When it came time to show our house Leisha prioritized our timing needs for last-minute beautification of the house with placement of annuals and a large pot for the front steps, as well as mowing. During the time that we worked with Leisha over the past few years there was a time when we wanted more frequent communication about timing updates, since the schedule of implementation can be a bit fluid depending on weather, etc. Leisha has been so professional -- she is very open to feedback and implemented our requests immediately. She is very accessible by email or text. We have recommended Gardens by the Yard to others in town and highly recommend it without reservations to the Angie's list community.

Met with owner, (Leisha) in the fall of 2013;She was very nice, pleasant and showed up at the agreed upon time. She spent time walking around the property and I explained that I wanted the project completed before the end of May of this year (2014). I provided her with a scale property drawing to assist in her planning. She voiced several ideas and was great to talk with. She said she would come up with a plan and get back to me, and she assured me that the project could be done in the requested time. That was the last I heard from her... Yes, I could have called and chased this down to see what was happening, but If she wasn't on top of things enough to follow-up, I felt as though it was a bad omen; would I need to be constantly calling to move things along?

The project went well after a slow start. the crew had to remove roots from a maple tree that had been removed near the beds. Leisha was very good with the design phase, and in helping us to select plantings. She sends you an online file with color pictures. The file is very helpful in selecting plants by color. Then she prepares a detailed plot plan with plantings shown in each area. After final review and approval, she then begins the site prep and installation. That phase takes about one to two days. She also guarantees the plantings, so long a** you install a watering system. I have had three plants that have had to be removed and replaced. Two because they did not survive the harsh winter. The third because of leaf blight. Overall. I was very pleased.

It was satisfactory. I was happy with their service. I did not use her afterwards.

Gardens by the yard did a great job on our front landscaping and walkways. Leisha and her team worked with us on concepts and ideas early on and carried the project through to the end. We have been very happy with the end result, and in particular the way she designed it to always have something in bloom. We would recommend Gardens by the Yard to others.

They planted the bulbs quickly and professionally. We were thrilled to see the flowers all come up in the spring. We were so satisfied that we now use them to maintain all of our landscaping and plan to use them in the spring to do some planting of perennials.

I did receive emails they were going to do an quote but never did. I did like the work they did and wish they had finished.

Though initially there was an issue with scheduling, when Leisha did come she gave excellent suggestions for our garden. Leisha knows her work for sure.

Leisha, the owner, is a thoughtful, knowledgeable, and talented designer. She patiently helped us through each step of the design and implementation process -- with her professional insight -- and made the plan work well for us in our neighborhood environment. It took awhile to implement, but "very good things come to those who are patient." She arranged for and coordinated the required work with the two other companies (one providing a new driveway, and the other installing a work-of-art blue-stone walkway), and then she and her fantastic crew completed the plantings while we were away on vacation. What a great sight pulling up to our house to see the color and new plants! We couldn't be more pleased with the final product, and for having chosen Gardens By the Yard.

Quality of her work is excellent. The yard looked amazing whenever her crew worked on it. Our only issue was with her responsiveness and reliability. I had asked to be put on a regular maintenance schedule which is a testimony to how good her work is, but months went by with no contact from her. That's not regular maintenance!

Leisha, the proprietor of the company, does al the design and project management herself. She is very good and very thorough in her approach, and very flexible to work with. i felt we had a very good rapport, and she was willing to spend a considerable amount of time going over the plan and each planty grouping within the paln. I think this extra effort put in up front was very worthwhile. She took the time to educae me and my wife about the type of plants that would work well in our location (which was partly shaded by the north side of the house). She also listened to our preferences on the types of plants we wanted, and our desire to have a colorful garden not just in the spring but throughout the summer and fall. She chose shrubs and flowers that were hybrids so that they will in some cases bloom all summer and into the fall (like lillies and rose hybrids). Once you agree on the planting plan, which she generates on her computer, you can look at actual color photos that she sends to you so that you can see each plant or shrub in bloom. She will then update the plan as you make changes. Installation was quick and complete (about two days). You should budget for site work before her crew arrives. I paid for the removal of all the shrubs and for three large trees that were shading the planting area (one of which Leisha strongly suggested neede to be removed because it was blocking all sunlight from the front of the house). The site work, and especially the root removal, added about $ 1,000 to the project. So plan for that cost as well. We ran into a lot of tree roots. The company offers a one year guarantee on all plants and shrubs if you add an in ground watering system to the plan. I did that. I had to pay a [lumber to remove the old spigot and install a more modern one with a backflow valve and a two headed spigot. The only negative about the process is that I had hoped to begin the previous fall. However, the delay was more our fault than the fault of the company. The delay probably resulted in a better final outcome because my wife and I had more time to review the type of plantings we really wanted and to refine the plan with Leisha. I would advise patience when doing a project of this size, since careful planning will lead to a much better outcome. The cost was also somewhat an unknown. Perhaps I was wishfully thinking that I could get the job done for $ 2500. When you factor in the additional site work I paid to other tree and root removal contractors and plumbers, the total job cost was about $ 6,000. However, I did expand the scope of the project significantly, so perhaps getting the job done for twice the $ 2500 was justified. We just about doubled the amount of planting area we previuosly had in front of the house, with the bed extension and the new bed in the side yard. Also, the new front bed had two rows of plants, so that we have a much greater variety. Overall, my wife and I are very pleased with the outcome. Even in Mid October, we still have roses, hydrangeas, lillies and echinacess blooming. We also have two georgeous holly bushes with red berries for fall and winter color. We have twice as many plantings as before. The added variety helps to have some of the plants in bloom throghout the growing season, with some fall and winter color after the growing season ends.

It was great! We were in the middle of a major kitchen renovation and I was overwhelmed by those details, and Leisha was able to take charge, present me with great ideas and make sure things ran smoothly. She coordinated with other vendors, such as our contractors, electrician, etc so that we didn't have to and she really took care of our yard as if it was her own. We have been working with Leisha for years, although this is our largest project by far. She has tremendous ideas and is creative, and a complete pleasure to work with. I highly recommend her.

Our project involved many aspects over a large area that all required specific design considerations. Leisha and her team spent a lot of time discussing the design with us to ensure it met both our style and functional needs. And when work began they embraced each adjustment and addition that we requested along the way. As this was a complete overhaul to our space, it involved a ton of work that required careful project management planning, which Leisha and crew excel at delivering upon. We also appreciated her care to ensure that we could stick to a budget and were given varying options to make our decisions. We would highly recommend working with Gardens By The Yard and plan to use them again for future projects.

I first spoke with Leisha just over a week ago. She scheduled a time to come out last weekend and check out my property. She spent a full hour listening to my concerns, looking at my existing plants, and giving recommendations. She knew we wanted to do our projects in phases, so was great about giving us options to keep our costs down, and even gave full instructions for a couple of jobs I could easily do myself. This was incredibly helpful, since I do not have a green thumb! We settled on what work she would do, and scheduled for a week later. Two days later, she let me know she had an unexpected opening, and asked if she could come that day. Our entire job was done within a week of the first time we spoke! Leisha is extremely knowledgeable and pleasant, and I would highly recommend her. We will be using her again in the spring for more clean-up and planting.

The owner is quite knowledgeable and pleasant. The work done was good although it was not carried out quite as I had hoped. When I spoke to the owner about correcting the problem she was very accommodating. I was pleased enough with the work to schedule an appointment to go forward with a more ambitious project to design a major portion of the garden backyard. But it became impossible to find a time to meet. The owner would schedule and then cancel. (This had actually also been a problem with the first scheduled work). I would email and not get a response. Finally, the weeks passed and the summer season was coming to an end. I wrote and asked if she would like to postpone the work until the following year. Belatedly she responded yes. I decided not to go forward with the company because I did not want to risk losing another growing season to missed messages and postponements. Were the company better organized I would have worked with it again.

Based on the planning phase going so well, we are proceeding with a plan to develop the landscaping over a few phases, and I am currently waiting for cost estimates of the adjusted plans.

Leisha has a good eye for design and listens to her customers. She incorporated our vision and is very knowledgeable in her field producing fine results. She is supported by a staff that is responsive, knowledgeable and the company offers reasonable prices.

It went very well. The plantings are being done in stages. We are currently not done.

Appointment kept re-scheduled a few times. Came twice but took too long to schedule the 2nd one (one in fall, one in spring). Did not use the design.
