We had a very positive experience with W&F and would recommend. There were some issues that came up from design to installation, but everything came out better than we could have hoped & we receive numerous compliments on our kitchen. My only suggestion is to hire a contractor before ordering cabinets and have them work with W&F. Otherwise, you may run into an issue like we did below. Before ordering the cabinets we relied upon their installer/contractor to come to our house and give the "thumbs up" that the design was OK. However, when we next hired our contractor he immediately noted that the design would not work since one of the walls to be removed was a plumbing/waste raceway. This had us concerned as the cabinets were ordered and "on their way", but W&F worked with the GC to come up with a new plan that was superior to the first, requiring no additional cabinetry and leaving the wall in place. So, in the end, everything turned out OK, but the process could have been better.
Description of Work: Complete re-design and remodel of kitchen. We utilized their design services and order all cabinetry from Water and Fire. We ordered from their "Ernestomaeda" Italian line which Water & Fire no longer carries. (The company now manufactures its own line of cabinets which have the same look & feel as the Ernestomaeda's but at a lower cost and faster turn around time I'm told). Company also installed all cabinets as well as some custom items.

This company is a scam. The on-staff designer Judy was unqualified to do the job and is UNprofessional, to the extent of having fits, completely lacking in providing status or returning phone calls. The installer is not a master carpenter as advertised. The owner, Mr. Paul T, is a very young and inexperienced man in what "customer satisfaction" means. He is the biggest problem with this company. Instead of trying to fix the mistakes and unprofessionalism of his designer, the Italian cabinet manufacturer's multitude of delays and wrong shipments, and the installer's mistakes, he threatened to stop completion of work, when I refused to pay the remainder of the agreed price until the cabinets were all delivered and job was completed. By the way, they ask for 50-60% up front, and expect you to pay for almost everything (minus 5%) while the cabinets are still not all delivered nor installed. He even had his lawyer take action on me and threatened to sue me. BEWARE.
Description of Work: Cabinetry for complete kitchen and bathroom remodeling. I had already designed the layout and chose Water and Fire for the look/function of their Italian cabinets, and to make sure the designs were accurate. The designer on staff is not qualified to do the job. She made a lot of mistakes in calculations, door hinge locations, ignoring the European Vs. US electrical requirements, etc., resulting in many headaches. Cabinets had to be either re-ordered (wait another 4 months, after the initial delay after delay), or re-provisioned haphazardly on site. The installer tried fixing a couple of the designer's flaws. However, he also made many mistakes, including causing dents and scratches to the cabinets, laying out the cabinets around the dishwasher too tight and not acknowledging my reminders that the dishwasher will not fit. It still does not fit correctly. The cabinets were supposed to be delivered by the first week in July. In reality, the last batch arrived post Thanksgiving.

Company advertised license/degree designer didn't have, attic cabs didn't conform to order (see above). Company denied problems then agreed to fix. Same day new cab order was placed, w/o warning or interim contact, company cancelled project, refused to refund money already paid ($8,137.28) & threatened to sue if I took legal action. Company now suing me for posting complaint to Angie's List.
Description of Work: Sought design/construction of formaldehyde-free/chemical-free custom kitchen/attic cabinetry as advertised. Kitchen designs weren't functional (e.g., fridge wouldn't open, lazy susan wouldn't fit, voided cooktop warranty) & didn't match what I asked for. Ordered only attic cabs. When partially installed (took 5 months) noticed major deficiencies in size, shape & design; discovered prohibited glues, formaldehyde-containing particleboard; new carpet contaminated w/toxin released when 10"x10" bottom of cabs sawed off due to measurement errors; damaged walls/furniture & drove screws into main A/C duct..

WE MADE A DEPOSIT TO DRAW UP PLANS FOR THE REMODEL. THE PLANS WERE UNSATISFACTORY. WE CALL CALLED THEM 2 TIMES AND LEFT MESSAGE STATING THAT THE PLAN WAS UNSATISFACTORY BUT NEVER HEARD FROM THEM. THE DEPOSIT CHECK HAD NOT BEEN CASHED 3 WEEKS AFTER IT HAD BEEN WRITTEN. WE STOPPED PAYMENT ON THE CHECK. WE INFORMED THEM BY LETTER ABOUT THE STOPPED PAYMENT AND OUR OFFER TO BILL US FOR THE AMOUNT OF TIME THEY SPENT ON THE PROJECT. WE WERE MORE THAN GLAD TO PAY THAT AMOUNT. WE HEARD FROM THEM ON THE PHONE STATING THAT WE WILL TRY TO SETTLE IT. THE DESIGNER CALLED AND LEFT A MESSAGE STATING THAT SHE WAS STUNNED AND WE NEVER HEARD ANYTHING FOR 6 MONTHS. WE WERE THEN SUED FOR THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF THE DEPOSIT. AND NOW IT HAS BEEN SETTLED OUT OF COURT.
Description of Work: ASKED FOR AN ESTIMATE TO REMODEL OUR KITCHEN
