+ -1 moreGerry is great. He completely redid three crumbling horsehair plaster closets (walls & ceiling), patched with sheetrock and covered with plaster as smooth as can be. He even did it over a weekend because I needed it done prior to the installation of shelving systems. I could not be more pleased with the quality of his work. A really nice guy who rightly takes great pride in his work.

He repaired our 100-year-old horsehair plaster walls, replaced a damaged ceiling, smoothed out two 80's plastered ceilings, primed all our walls, and painted all our crown molding/trim throughout the house. At each stage of the work he would walk us through his progress, answering all our questions and offering up advice for future projects. He also coordinated with other contractors that were doing work at the same time, ensuring things went smoothly. Gerry was great to work with and we would happily use him again!

Description of Work: Gerry was able to patch a hole in my ceiling made by insulation workers in my attic who broke through the bedroom ceiling. He re-plastered and primed the repair area then painted the entire ceiling so you would never know there had been a hole.

+ -1 moreIf you want: a service provider who doesn't phone you back, or doesn't provide a fair and complete estimate, or doesn't schedule a timely appointment, or doesn't show up on time, or doesn't do a superb quality job with the utmost professionalism and care to your home, then Gerry isn't for you. If you want the very best, Gerry/Sorrentino Plastering is the gold standard. I couldn't be happier with the flawless results and overall experience. My initial contact was on a Friday morning. Friday afternoon Gerry called and we scheduled the appointment for an estimate for Friday night. He showed up for the estimate and appointment for the actual job (Monday) exactly on time. He was knowledgeable and professional in explaining the work entailed and did so at a very fair price. He protected all of the areas involved with plastic sheeting and drop cloths so not a speck of plaster or dust escaped. And his work, blending his repair with existing old plaster work, was nothing short of masterful. The world would be a better place if every service provider were like Gerry Sorrentino.

+ -1 moreThe two rooms look 1008% better than what my wife & I had been left with. Gerry is an old-school, artisan who diligently fixed to the best of his ability two rooms which had rough textured plaster. He showed me and my wife the problems with the surfaces before he started plastering and also identified deficiencies which were part of the overall problem. Gerry was neat laying down paper to catch plaster dust etc, and left his work area neat after each day. This was important to me and my wife because we are living in our home while work is ongoing. Gerry returned my initial call and came out to give me an estimate on the spot. My wife and I went with him even though he was slightly higher than our other estimate and are very happy with his work. We would hire him again and give him our highest recommendation.
Description of Work: Gerry smoothed plaster in two rooms which had been finished in a rough texture by a different company. He also fixed poor lines where surfaces met and undulations on the walls to the best of his ability.

+ 0 moreGerry provided helpful advice on the project when first discussing with him. Even though he was very busy he called back the same day. We were attempting to rehab a 3rd floor bedroom with an old horsehair ceiling and walls. Gerry gave us several options and the pros and cons of each. Once we decided on the plan he was able to fit us in to his busy schedule. He is clearly a master of his craft and his attention to detail was impressive. Ceiling and walls came out beautiful. The cleanup was great as well as the room was perfectly cleaned without any damage to the hardwood floors. As a major bonus Gerry (without any mention from us) happened to have an antique porcelin doorknob that matched the doors in the rest of our 115 year old house and installed it for no charge when he noticed the ugly mismatched doorknob in the room. That was a huge surprise as I had been looking for a matching doorknob for many months online and in shops around Boston with no luck. Gerry was a pleasure to work with and would hire him again in a second.

Everything was done as promised, within the promised timeframe. Gerry was easy to deal with. The job couldn't have gone better. Gerry did more than we knew to ask, and cleaned up as though no one had even been there. Also provided a piece of the original plaster so that we could easily match the color when painting. Mr Sorrentino is a true craftsman, who takes great pride in doing excellent work. Worth every penny !

+ -1 moreWe have an older home with horsehair plaster. Gerry had to replace the insulation in the walls and replaster. One room the walls were textured and he had to match that pattern. Gerry was very responsive. He called right back came out quickly for an estimate. He started when he said he would and was on-time every day. It was a very messy job but he left the house clean and neat when he left. We would definitely recommend him and if we have a need we will use him again.
Description of Work: We had holes in the walls from drying out due to flooding from ice dams. There were multiple places in every room of the house and in 3 places the whole was more than 1/2 of the wall.

+ -1 moreExcellent Worker & Excellent work! My 100 year old garage had the sand and horsehair plaster walls falling down plus the wood supporting the garage walls had water damage. Mr Sorrentino removed the old material and wire. He put in cement board, put brackets into the cellar concrete floor to stabilize the garage walls. He patched the cellar concrete floor behind the concrete boards and then repaired all the holes and cracks in the garage walls and ceiling. He plastered the garage walls and ceiling then sealed them with a special product.. He removed all the debris. Then he cut up all the old wood we had in the garage and cellar (which was not in the original job description). He said he was an apprentice in Italy at 14 doing this work and it shows. He works alone and works very fast. He was here promptly at 7:00 AM every day. His work is meticulous and I recommend him highly.

I had left messages for 5 different companies and Gerry was the only one who responded in a timely manner. We made an appointment for him to come out and take a look at the job on Saturday. Gerry called and told me that the job he was currently working on was not finished as he had hoped and he rescheduled to come out and look at my job on Sunday. Gerry arrived promptly at 8:30 AM and gave me an estimate on the spot. We scheduled the work for the following Saturday at 8:30 AM. Gerry showed up right on time and completed the work himself. He is very knowledgeable about his craft and it shows in his workmanship. He cleaned up and left me with nothing more to do. I would recommend Gerry for any plastering needs.

Did the work himself, had one helper there on Day 1 but he supervised the helper the entire time. Works fast. Walls and ceiling look like glass. Missed one little spot, came back within a day to touch it up, no complaints or questions.

Description of Work: Gerry and his assistant arrive on time, completely covered the floors, and left the rooms spotless when finished. They installed new ceilings in 2 rooms of my home. They were the only contactor who recommended the use of 1/2 blue board due the age and condition of the ceilings. Any questions I had where promptly answered. He also patched the wall where we had removed the old wallpaper. He took the time to recommend primer and paint products for both the ceiling and walls. I will definitely use him again!

+ -1 moreI left a voicemail for Gerry on a Saturday morning. He called me back within 20 minutes and was out at my house around noon the same day to look at the job. He said it was a small patch and would only take a few hours to do, but he was in the middle of some larger projects and would call within a few weeks when he had time to work on it. About a week later Gerry was available and came out to do the patches. He arrived on time, was professional and very neat with his work and clean up. Both patches are awesome. The living room wall looks absolutely seamless and blends right in with the existing wall. He also patched about a shoebox size hole in the ceiling. Gerry matched the brush stroke look of the existing ceiling plaster perfectly.Gerry performed excellent work and was very responsive and professional. I highly recommend him.

+ -1 moreGerry came when he said he would gave us quotes on the work to be performed. He did exacltly what he said he would and showed up promptly. His quotes may seem high but he is a perfectionist who often asks "Are you satisfied" If you notice anything he fixes it immediately. He also gave us names of other contractors who have been helpful.
Description of Work: Gerry has done three jobs for us over the last 8 months totaling $2,000 of work. The first job involved the ceiling in our masterbedroom is concrete stucco ceiling. Gerry applyed plaster and smoothed it out and filled holes where previously we had electric lights.. We had three other contractors quote the job and they all wanted to take out the old concrete and replace it with board. He also painted the ceiling. Gerry is a craftsman and was able to do the job without making a major mess. It looks great now. Our experience was that he came promptly, worked very hard and did exactly as he said he would do. Based on that experience we hired Gerry to replaster two whole which were created when we changed lights in two bathrooms. Again he was prompt, stuck by his quote and did excellent work. Lastly we had a leak in our shower that needed to be accessed from the other room. He removed the old plaster and baseboard and then once we finished with the shower repair he restored and painted the wall. At the same time we installed a new in wall airconditioner that required restuccoing the outside wall as well as filling in and replastering the inside wall. He just completed the last of these three jobs. .

I had a large hole in my kitchen wall left behind after a chimney lining job (at the spot where they had to go in to pull out an obstruction-fun times!). The wall looked awful, like someone's head was put through it. Gerry called me back the same day when I left a message and showed up on time to inspect the job. He was very courteous and talked me through this job clearly, and called me (as promised) the next day with his estimate, which at $375 including repainting I thought very reasonable. I hired him and on the day of the job he showed up 10 minutes early. I couldn't get over this--what contractor shows up 10 minutes early on Saturday morning?? The quality of his work was excellent. You would never be able to tell there was a ghastly hole in my kitchen wall, it is now perfect, as is the painting. He also gave me good friendly advice on my planned bathroom renovation. thank you for a job well done! A+++

I have hired him multiple times and he is always great! He shows up on time, and is particularly clean. He is not the cheapest, but his work is by far the best.
