Markarian Electric LLC

In short, Markarian Electric showed itself to be a capable, honest company dedicated to getting the job done right. This was a small job and the initial worker was new and proved inept. The company took full responsibility for this by sending a new worker soon after who made sure everything was corrected and done right. While I was disappointed that the first worker, who was soon let go from the company, was not better screened, I was impressed and won over by the company's response and final work. Therefore, I would recommend this company and would use them again, and I have recommended them to others.

It was good. The guy who came out had me write a check but they sent it back to me because they realized that it was covered under the big deal price. He was very good but when he was taking the overhead light apart, he shuttered the new light. He broke the glass in the new light and he actually had to leave and go to Home Depot to buy another one. Thank God that I just bought it there but considering that there was glass all over the place, his preparation prior to starting the project was so good that there was not any glass left. The cleanup was perfect and he had put down a tarpaulin so everything was fine. Ultimately, he was great. He took care of everything but there was just a little error. He made a mistake but he made it right.

They were present and know what they were doing in and out.

The service and workmanship was great, and they fixed our problem. Timely and for a reasonable price. We intend to use them whenever we need HVAC work.

Two workers came out to do this and it took them about 5 hours. They were very professional, did a good job, and they were able to work around issues that came up. They were good at finding solutions to unique situations. Scheduling was easy and they were flexible.

Scheduling: From start to finish they did a great job. They sent someone out to give an estimate within a few days, and we received it the same evening. Scheduling was professional and prompt. There was a miscommunication between the scheduler and myself that resulted in the work having to be pushed back a week, but she made a huge effort to get us rescheduled promptly and were very flexible. Their employees: their technicians were very young, so I was a bit nervous, but they did a very thorough and meticulous job. Jason looks like he is in his early 20s but was better than most other more experienced electricians I have used. They were very polite and respectful and we had no problems with them being in the house. The job wound up being more complicated than expected so they sent a 3rd technician over for the second day. They worked very hard and didn't even take a lunch break on the second day in order to get finished on time. Work quality: Excellent. They were able to run the wiring without having to make any additional holes in the walls and didn't damage anything. The installed fixtures look perfect. Cleanliness: Much, much better than other contractors. They always wore shoe covers in the house, even when they only came in to give the initial estimate. They didn't damage our floors or walls and used drop cloths on everything. They cleaned up thoroughly when they were done. They took the old fixtures with them to dispose of them. Pricing: The initial estimate came in much lower than I thought it would. To their credit, they also quoted out the potential extras in the contract and stuck to it despite the work taking longer than they thought it would. In our case, they told us ahead of time they might need to add $175 for each ceiling box that needed to be replaced, and indeed that wound up being the only extra charge.

I don't have enough positive words in my vocabulary for these guys. Eric hires dependable, reliable guys who he invests in and trains to the nth degree. I am thrilled with the quality of work, the time and effort and the care put in by Eric and his crew. They are the only electricians I will use. Ever.

The quote was far more than I expected.

I have contacted Markarian twice now (the first time because of a special offer I purchased on Angie's List). I got no response either time. I'm guessing my prospective jobs were just too small for them, but really, a call back to communicate that would be appreciated. After the first time I contacted them, I had to chase them to get the service I had prepaid for ... when I finally got hold of someone, the receptionist was apologetic, and we scheduled the service. Service person was fine; respectful, did a good job, etc. But when I called again recently to inquire about another job, once again I never got a call back. I even identified myself on voicemail as a returning customer -- something I would think they would value! I won't use them again because the customer service is just too frustrating; too bad, because their actual electrical work seems to be fine.

They arrived on time and the technician was able to complete the job quickly.

An electrician came to give an estimate and was very polite, and worked on the job right away. However, I did not get competitive pricing and I should have done that. The cost was very high and the work done was ok, but not perfect, and the staff person left a big mess near where he had been working in my basement, so that was disappointing. Overall, when I questioned the cost, the company was very nice about allowing me to pay in installments and to defer some of the cost for a later bill, but they would not reduce the price after the work was done. I will always get at least two estimates in the future. I think Markarian is a very capable reliable organization, but they are not inexpensive. The office staff is wonderful, and they are very professional.

Great! Pleasant workman. Vacuumed up after himself with his own vacuum. New lighting works fine.

This service was part of a Big Deal, and I couldn't be happier.

The electrician who did the work was perfect. He was smart, considerate, knowledgeable and thorough. He did a complete inspection of the smoke alarm electrical system. He tested the alarms, and blew out each unit in case of an insect or dust problem. That would have been it, but then he mentioned that the kind of alarm units we had installed in the first place, and then the second time as replacements were not the kind that his company installed or recommended. In no way did he pressure me to buy new units. It was my choice to replace the units with the more expensive brand. They came with a one year service warranty. He called in to headquarters, got word he could do the job, went to pick up the new units, came back in a reasonable amount of time, and installed them. The best part of this story is that the alarms have not gone off in the middle of the night or any other time since. Our money was well spent.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service and because he did a lot of things within the two hour time limit specified on the Big Deal I had to pay very little extra for parts. I was extremely impressed with him. They were competent and came quickly. The deal expired last year, but they honored the deal. They could have dawdled, but didn't so I would use them again. They are very professional, effective and time sensitive. I like them. The guy who owns the company came with his technician to tell me to check out everything, because they had worked on many different, complex things. I asked him about another problem and he gave me the answer so he was really good.

There was a small problem with one of the light fixtures he put in. He came back right away and apologized and fixed it quickly. They were very reliable and professional. They got the work done in a timely manner. I felt the price was reasonable.

The company owner, Eric, came out to my home before any work was done so that he could assess my needs and describe the options. He was obviously very knowledgeable, a good listener, and patiently explained everything to my wife and myself. His portfolio of other jobs he'd done was useful to us in making our decisions. I was pleased with the caliber of his technicians when I asked for details about them and their experience. Over the next few weeks Eric and his partner Daniel worked with me by email and phone to finalize the plan. When the time came for the work to be done, the three technicians arrived promptly on both days. Sean, the supervising tech, and his assistant Jason, demonstrated outstanding skill, knowledge, and diligence. They were resourceful in finding solutions to difficulties as they arose. They conducted themselves professionally and with the utmost courtesy, and their affable manner made it a pleasure to have them in my home. They worked steadily without taking "leisurely" breaks. As a crew they worked cooperatively in a way that showed mutual respect. There was no tension or discord at any time between them. They worked with pride and enthusiasm showing genuine enjoyment in their trade. Every possible care was taken to keep from damaging anything in my home; this included spreading plastic sheets, and wearing foot covers to protect my floors from their work shoes. After the work was finished to my complete satisfaction, Sean told me to call Eric if I had any questions or concerns. After a few days I contacted Eric to ask for clarification on use of the new universal remote. He scheduled a visit to my home at my earliest convenience and gave me a good hour tutorial, not only on the remote but on my entire system; he even moved some of my furniture in order to straighten out a large carpet that had moved slightly during the installation.

The electrician showed up on time, was very professional and punctual. He figured out how to add a C-wire to the thermostat and got everything running smoothly.

The electrician was young and very nice & polite. DId the light fixture exchange no problem. Adding a socket was more challenging for him. He wanted to add it to the wall above the baseboard, but I said no -- I wanted the new socket on the baseboard like all the other sockets in the house. He wanted to do test drills to locate the studs, I again said no and got him a electronic stud finder I own. He had never seen one. I showed him how to use it and it accurately located the studs so that he could position the new socket. He drilled too big a hole so that when he added the socket face plate there is a gap outside of it where he cut too much of the wood away. It is not that noticeable, but still, not a great job & I definitely had to supervise to make sure it was done how I wanted. So I would trust this company with easy jobs. The guy was nice, polite, on-time, well-groomed, etc. but not especially skillful. It was a $100 coupon so I feel I got a good deal.

They wer professional but, it was kind of expensive.

Price was high for what I expected. Timely service was good, but not sure I can afford the 'premier' electrician service again. The finish work was not perfect. The people in the office are nice.

Danny arranged for his service tech to come out same day and perform all necessary duties in a timely fashion. They are the only Home Audio company I will use in the Boston area. Great work, as always!

The first fixture install went very well and he repaired a bad ground wire that I had accidentally shortened when initially trying to install the fixture myself. The second fixture was installed very well, but a week after realized that there was not enough slack in the wires to extend the fixture fully (the chains were bundled together). I thought I had clearly described how we wanted to hang the fixture long term, but clearly there was a misunderstanding. There was still a few minutes left of the 2 hours I pre-paid for, so he offered to walk me through the basement. He took a look at some wiring I was a bit concerned about that appeared (to the untrained eye) as very old and needing to be replaced. Instead of upselling me into services I didn't need, he explained in detail differences in the various types of wiring from knob and tube through present day. It turns out the old wiring may have appeared old, but in fact it was in great shape and probably of higher quality than the stuff that looked newer! The final walkthrough is why I still give the experience overall an A. I feel his mistake with the second fixture was an honest one and caused by miscommunication.
