Markarian Electric LLC

Once the appointment was made, someone from the company came when they promised. He arrived and put covers over his shoes to prevent extra dirt on my floors. That was a considerate touch as most contractors don't even think about clompping around a house in their muddy boots. He then tested my fixtures, two that had not been working and one that worked. Two fixtures had condenser problems that he could not fix. I had bought some new fixtures from Home Depot just in case. We decided to take out all three of the old fixtures and use two new ones. Where two holes were left, he quickly and perfectly closed up the holes and spackled around them. I'll have to repaint there but they are not that noticeable. He did this very quickly and cleaned up afterwards. I had been living in a dark bathroom for years for fear of it costing a lot to fix. This was a wonderful deal and now my bathroom is brighter than ever. ( A week later I lost power from Hurricane Sandy for 3 days!) Thanks to Angie's List and Markarian Electric!

Eric (owner) had assured me before we started the project that all holes would be patched and I had nothing to worry about - his men were highly trained and professional. He also had a huge number of excellent "A" reviews on Angie's list so I believed him. However, there were problems. 1) They had to reschedule 2x and this was big problem with the other trades - they were the only trade that did this to me. 2) Eric used "subs" to do the work and they stated they that they did not patch holes - I would have to take care of that myself. This was the complete opposite of what Eric had said. I spoke with him and he agreed never to send the subs back and that the holes would be patched. 3) The subs left a live circuit uncovered (uncapped) that the plumber touched against a pipe that gave a huge spark . Someone could have been hurt and the electricians should have never left it that way (live circuit and not covered properly) . I was fortunate that no one was hurt. For safety I would give them an "F". The next crew actually worked for Markarian Elec. and they did good work plus showed up on time after that. Once I got the "A" team things went smoothly but even they left me a non-working circuit that they had to come back and fix. My advice is make sure that the workmen that show up actually work for Markarian and are wearing the Markarian uniforms.

No don'ts just just do's. Just great service. my life it to short incompetent people You will not have any problems!

I wanted to have some home stereo/tv work done. Daniel came out to do the estimate, was very nice, very professional. Said he would send the estimate by the following Monday, even though it was a holiday. Monday came and went and no estimate, I wasn't bothered by that, it happens. By the end of the week I still hadn't gotten an estimate so I called the office to see if I could get it from them. Left a message, never heard back. Waited a few days and called back and got a person, gave my name and got no indication that she recognized my name from the phone message,let her know I was checking on an estimate. She also was very nice and very professional and told me she would follow up with Daniel and have him get back to me. * I should mention here I do have a pet peeve about work people giving me times and dates because they think it is what I want to hear rather than being up front about potential delays. So when I see a pattern , like I did here, I will ask if they are very busy? or if they are pushing out work by a few weeks? I make it very clear I am just asking, I am not going to be put out or take my business else where, I just want to know, so I can anticipate. So before I got off the phone I did ask these questions and ,although polite, she became very defensive and starting over explaining the delays. I reiterated I was not challenging the business I just wanted to get an idea on timing. But, she wasn't hearing me and clearly took it the wrong way, I let it drop. Same day I got the estimate via email from Daniel. I emailed back right away, said I was happy with the estimate and wanted to schedule the work, never heard back, tried again, and again never heard back............... This all felt very "childish" to me. I am sure they do good work and I would have been more than happy to have them do the work I had requested. I purposely waited before writing because I really would like Markarian to view this report objectively.

Job well done. Even though I had started the job, they had no problem or complaints about finishing the job for me. I had installed the fan but couldn't figure out the electrical. They even installed and expanded the junction switch box and spackled around it where they had to cut the drywall to make the hole bigger. In general they did more than any electrician would do from spackling to attaching the vent hose to the house exterior, even wore little booties over their boots so they would scratch my floor!

Fernando's work in the basement providing wiring to the two new outlets we needed was intricate and very neatly done.

I had purchased a coupon for a discounted service appointment several months ago, intending to use it in the summer. When I called and made an appointment, I mentioned that I had to use it by the end of October! But the receptionist was very helpful, said not to worry and that they would always honor the coupon even if it had expired. She was also very gracious when I had to cancel the first appointment and reschedule. The electrician was punctual and very helpful. After I explained the issues, he checked things out and answered all my questions very patiently. He also took a special trip to a local Hope Depot to obtain some special equipment that we discovered that was needed for the noisy light (this after it was discovered that the source was not the bulbs but the light switch). Finishing up, the electrician promised a fee quote on some other project that I asked for (the quote was sent via email to me within a few days), and cleaned up after himself. I was very satisfied with the whole experience!

Visit to see work went well but it ended there!

He was very good. He knew just what he was doing and what the problems were. He did so much in the hour that he was here, I couldn’t believe it. He did about 5 things and did it all for he BD amount. He even ran down the street for some materials. I was blown away with how much he was able to do and the quality of his work. He inspires confidence and is very knowledgeable. He was careful and explained everything that needed to be done.

They were good. The only thing I didn’t like was that I paid $99 for 2 hrs of work. The electrician easily could have done both the jobs within $99, but he didn’t. He spent an hour putting the fan in and it probably took him 20 minutes to fix the outlet. He ended up charging me more to do the outlet. I had to pay him another $100. He disappeared for lunch, telling me that he had to get a part and all he needed for the switch was a box for the wall. I can’t believe that an electrician didn’t have any of those boxes in the truck. As far as him, he was really nice and very careful not to hurt anything in the house. He came when he said he would. He did excellent work. It wasn’t all that bad; it’s just that I didn’t like to pay for a big deal when it was definitely a 2 hr job for both of them and I had to pay more. The people were very nice including the ones from the office. They charged me more than they really should have for the work that they did; so it wasn’t really a good deal. I would not use them because it was no big deal.

Everything went well the installation of my ceiling fan and I was very pleased with this service today. I would definitely use the company again.

Given the uncertainty of knowing how long it takes to do particular jobs, I should have been better prepared with other tasks in case he had extra time. For example, there was a broken light fixture in the basement I could have had him fix if I had had the part on hand that needed replacement. But he didn't happen to have that part with him so I ended up having to do it myself at a later time.

After being told that the problems I wanted taken care of was just not problem, Markarian came in and took care of every single one. I would certainly use them again.

We used Markarian because of an Angies' List Big Deal. The electrician arrived punctually and was professional. He addressed the issue (a dimmer switch wasn't working in our kitchen) and then asked if I had other work, since he was scheduled for 2 hours and would not need the entire time to do what I had requested. He ended up fixing some electrical issues we had in our cellar, which was great, and the only additional cost was the materials. The reason I gave the company a B for quality is because we are experiencing a problem with the dimmer switch that he fixed in our kitchen, and I think I will need to get someone in to look at it - again!

Fernando was prompt, professional, and very courteous. He resolved several issues and was very invested in making sure I received as much service as possible during the 2-hours I had paid for. I will be calling Markarian Electric to have him come back to install the smoke/CO detectors. Julie at the Markarian Electric office was very helpful and had called me to remind me to use the coupon before it expired.

We purchased the two hours of work for $99 coupon through Angie's list. Admittedly, we bought it on impulse without bothering to inquire what the normal hourly rate was and I encourage anyone reading this to exercise more due diligence than we did with any contractor. Our first two attempts to make an appointment over the summer garnered no response. When the coupon expired and we asked for a refund, though, we did get a response from Julie, who was very friendly and apologized for the delay, and made an appointment. Joe, the electrician, was very sharp. He arrived within 5 minutes of the appointment time and was friendly and professional. The work took approximately 2 hours and 10 minutes and you are billed a full hour for the partial hour, so our coupon effectively covered the extra 10 minutes. However, as noted above, not knowing the pricing structure up front was our mistake. It would have been smart to have something else for Joe to do in reserve just for this situation.

He was very good! He spent most of the time trying to find out where the problem was, so the next best thing was to fish a new wire to fix it. I would recommend them to others and use them again!

When I called and got the answering service, I was told that someone would get back to me within 15 minutes. Not only did I get the call, Joe from Markarian Electric came out when he said he would. Joe is a great representative of the company; he is friendly and efficient. I was impressed that he checked back with the company to be sure that details of the estimate were complete and accurate. Because I wanted to get the projected work done as quickly as possible, he called headquarters to schedule an appointment. In a world where entire days can be spent waiting for promised service and being made to feel that time as a consumer is not valuable, I am truly delighted about this refreshing feeling of being valued as a customer. My experience with Markarian Electric is extremely positive, and I recommend them without reservation. It is a pleasure to work with a provider who responds so quickly and efficiently.

We scheduled a time to walk through the property. The serviceman was prompt and took good notes on his iPad. While he seemed to understand what I wanted he did try to steer me toward a monitored system. He took my email and assured me he'd send an estimate. An estimate never arrived. I emailed them after a week. He responded and said that he had sent it to the wrong address, and that he would send it along. Again it never arrived. I don't know what wires got crossed, but this is not a good sign for keeping up with any work in the future. UPDATE: as a result of this review Markarian contacted me with the estimate. While we did not end up going with them this year, we will keep them in mind for the future.

Seemed very knowledgeable. Very fast worker. Sent an apprentice first, I objected. Then the owner came.

He did a good job overall, just felt the upsell from the start though. What was originally supposed to be covered by the angieslist coupon ended up being 200-300 more. 450 for installing a ceiling fan! I agreed just so the coupon wouldn't be wasted and just wanted to get it done. He was very professional and did good work.

The woman who scheduled my request for service was knowledgable, very cordial, and could not have been more of an advocate for me, even managing to find a time slot much sooner than her master schedule indicated was available. She did a nice job of introducing me to the firm and encouraging me to write up a list of projects so that the electrician could use the 2 hours I'd bought effectively. Overall the work done was excellent, and the electrician (Joe Dempsey) cleaned up as he went along, leaving no mess behind.I asked Joe for an estimate for additional work and he promptly wrote one up for me, itemizing all the projects I requested.I would definitely use this firm again... in fact I am in the process of deciding when I can call them to do the next batch of work.
