Mark came out the SAME DAY I called to give an estimate (the morning after Hurricane Sandy) and said he'd get it done within 2 days at the most. They came less than 24 hours later and completed the job. Professional & excellent. The company that installed the fence and has repaired it a few times over the last 15 yrs said to email them a picture and they'd try to get to us within 4-6 weeks. Never again - Ideal Fence is the only company for me!

I could not be more pleased with how this purchase went. From my initial visit to the showroom in Watertown, to Mark Nilan's site visit, and the installation, it was a great customer experience all around. Great product, fairly priced, professionally installed. Our house sits in a hill, so the fence had to be hauled up a steep incline, and the crew had to work in a tight space at the edge of my proerty lined with trees. They showed up on time, called me at work to let me know they were there, asked if I had any special instructions, and set my expectations for how long the job would take. When I arrived home at day end, you would never know they had been there, other than the completed fence. Job site was cleaned, all the landscaping had been undisturbed. VERY nicely done, thank you! Would recommend for any project with high marks.

Eddie and his crew did a great job removing our existing fence and installing our new one. We were in the middle of a major backyard renovation and he and his crew worked with our contractors to make sure the fence was installed at the right height to account from the regrading of our yard. Eddie was very responsive and was so easy to work with. I would definitely use Ideal again!

My cedar fence needed reinforcing to keep the posts in place; windy days made me particularly concerned seeing our back fence sway easily. So, a week ago, I searched Angie's List for fence repair, and based on all the positive and numerous fence repair reviews, I picked Ideal Fence. (I was also surprised that other fence companies would only repair fences that they installed, but Ideal will repair any fence!) I called them and was told Mark, the owner, would call me back. Mark called me the next day or two. Mark accommodated my schedule and visited me last Saturday. Mark was on time, professional, and detailed. He examined my fence and then explained the pipes ($50 a piece) and caps, the locks, and a trench (to keep dirt away from my fence on one side), which were all needed to maintain my fence. He said that the fence was in good overall shape, so the repair was worth doing rather than replacing it. He answered all of my questions. He said he'd call me within two weeks to have the job done. Mark called me today (just a week after his visit and quote) to say that he had a guy available, because he remembered that Saturday is a good day for me. He sent Jake, his "best guy" as Mark described him. Jake was just as professional as Mark, and he finished the job in about two hours as they both estimated. He needed electricity and water, so he asked if outside outlets worked, and a hose was available--yup on both. Jake also capped existing pins on my left and right neighbors' sides of the fence, which I really appreciated. (He told me caps are important to prevent moisture from getting into pipes and cracking in the winter). Jake advised me to wait two days, even though the cement cure time is one day, before pushing on the poles. He also explained that fence locks are not supposed to turn, which I didn't know. They're supposed to just stay at one angle and lock, so he tightened them to keep them from turning. Jake told me my cedar fence will last another 6 years, which was reassuring coming from a fencing professional. I'm glad to have Ideal's professional opinion and work done. If the day comes that I need more work done, or a new fence altogether, I'll be calling Ideal again. And if any friends of mine need fence work, I'll know who to recommend!

I recommend them to others. I like the response and the professionalism. It might have been about $6000 for that service. The price was a little more, but everything about the whole company was good. I could talk to the people, they answered their phone, and nobody else even did that. The responsiveness was perfect.

Ideal installed a flat board style fence on two sides of my rowhouse patio. One side is 8' high and the second side is 6' high, with an angled panel at the corner to transition the heights. Eddie was very responsive and communicated pricing and schedule issues very well. The installation team was fantastic! They were fast and professional.

Fence looks great, just like how it was. I was impressed that they came when they told me that they would, without me needing to bug them. They did the work quickly but professionally and it looks amazing. I got two estimates and Ideal was the best.

Eddie Nilan of Ideal Fence installed a 6 ft. cedar fence in our back yard over 20 yrs. ago. Due to age and a harsh winter two of the posts supporting the gate were rotted out so the gate would not close. Because we have a small dog it was important to us to get the gate fixed quickly to ensure her safety in an enclosed back yard. I wasn't sure after 20+ years if Ideal Fence was still in business so I checked Angie's List for a referral. As I scrolled through the fencing companies there they were - with A+ reports as well. I called and left a message describing my problem with the gate and my urgency in getting it repaired in short order. Eddie called me the next day and said he'd come out in a couple of days to take a look. A few days later (and a rainy, soggy day at that!) Eddie came by to check out the gate and inspect the rest of the aging fence. He remembered me and installing the original fence & gate years ago. He told me we'd need a new gate and he'd secure the support posts on both sides. He also noted some of my husband's "handywork" in trying to shore up 6 sagging 6' panels and suggested that the support posts he'd installed were too tall for the job. Eddie suggested that if he installed a new gate and changed out the support posts to shorter ones we'd get several more years use of the entire fence - a lot cheaper than replacing the entire fence!! I think the work was done within a week. We can now let our doggie out back without worry. The latch on the new gate operates with ease and I don't have to worry about the sagging wood panels in various areas of the yard falling down!

Eddie and his team from Ideal Fence did an absolutely outstanding job. After a few minor delays due to weather, the work got underway and was done quickly and professionally. The job was relatively complex due to the sloping terrain - our yard is on a hill -- and Eddie was happy to work with us to figure out a solution to ensure that the fence both looked great and served its primary function - containing rambunctious young kids and keeping them out of the street. We are very, very pleased with the end result, and would highly recommend Ideal Fence to anyone seeking an experienced, top-notch fencing company.

They were extremely responsive and they stuck exactly to their quotes. They were extremely punctual. There a problem with a gate after a few weeks. They came back and readjusted the gate for no charge. They were all around really fabulous to work with.

We hired this company because some of their fences I saw around town looked nicely make. They came and measured for our fence. When they came to install it, they said they couldn't install the top part of the fence because there were trees in the way. Of course, they didn't tell us when they estimated the fence, and they didn't show us problem while they installed it. And, of course, we got charged for the entire fence. They seemed difficult to deal with.

They did a great job. They were very professional and prompt. There estimates were very accurate and they were very honest about telling me what they could do and couldnt do. They did what they said they would do when they said they were going to do it.

We had used this company in the past so I left 2 voicemails on the contact phone number that was on our paperwork from the past. No return call. Decided that maybe this person didn't work for this company anymore so I called the office number listed in their ad. Spoke with the brother who offered no apology for my calls not being returned. As our conversation continued this person was unpleasant as he was when he came to assess the job.

Pressure of snow/ice had pulled fence away from gate, so that gate barely closed. We were concerned that our dogs might push gate open in that condition, so we called Eddie at Ideal. He came out on a Saturday afternoon, looked at the problem and said he had a tool that would pull the two together properly. He said that he would be away for a couple of days, so he would come back this very day, Saturday, and do the work. He returned a couple of hours later, restored the gate/fence to its proper position, and then said there would be no charge for this. Hard to believe; great guy, generous, efficient. Amazing.

Nobody in our condo was sure what to do. Mark, the project manager came up with a solution that was much less expensive (by several thousand dollars) that what we had been leaning toward. He said h could fix our fence relatively inexpensively and we would get another 5 years out of it. And he did, doing something ingenious with steel posts, painted gray to match the existing fence. He worked quickly and efficiently. I'm optimistic that we will get at least 5 more years out of the existing fence.

Everything went well. Mr. Nilan and his crew arrived in the morning and worked steadily all day long. Mr. Nilan and the workers had a good rapport and were pleasant to have working at my home. The design of the railings is terrific and adds to the appearance of my historic home. Mr. Nilan was open to my suggestions and was very easy to work with. With all of the snow and ice this winter I am enjoying the added safety of the handrails and am able to use the walkways much more easily than in the past.

They gave me an estimate over the phone. They came out the next day and did the work. The cost of the replacement was $400. They are very well-known in the area. They are really reputable. They did a great job. They put up a strong fence. I would use them again in the future.

This company is amazing. The next morning, they secured the bottom of the fence. Mark could not have been nicer.

Went well overall. Had to have them return to pound in nails that were sticking out, but this was done promptly. They were on time, courteous, and cleaned up after themselves.

One of the owners Ed Nilan come out very shortly after I contacted Ideal, measured the fencing and sent an estimate one day later. Ideal's cost was the highest of the three companies, and Ed was the only person who said we would have to get another company to remove the poison ivy near the fence before they would start the work. After we got the two lower quotes, my husband visited their showroom and asked if Ed if his price was negotiable, and he said the price he gave us was the best he could do. We hired another firm.

Very well. Worked quickly, were polite and nice. Satisfied.

Eddie came right out to give an estimate. I thought the price was a bit high given the size of the job, but the company's reputation was excellent and one of my neighbors also recommended their work. When I accepted the contract, I had to pay 50% of the cost of the job. The work was done about 3 weeks later. I received a phone call the evening before to tell me they would come the next day. The quality of the fence is excellent - sturdy and attractive. Hinges and latch also look like they will serve well. The installation is very solid. The only surprise for me was that the old, rusted nails that attached the old fence to the house were left sticking out of the wall. It would have taken just a couple of minutes to remove them and caulk the holes. Nothing major, just a bit of detail which should not have been overlooked. Overall, I am pleased with the quality of the fence and the installation.

We received a quote from Mark Nilan who was very personable and professional. We decided to go with them because they got good reviews, Mark's professionalism and that they offer a life time warranty that no other fence company offers.

They started the project later than I expected them to. They did an estimate which I begrudgingly agreed on, and then didn't get back to me for a month to do the job. Then they didn't have the gate to complete the job. I decided to add on more fencing which they came back and did but they still haven't done the gate. No word from them either. I wouldn't reccomond them if you are in a hurry. But it does look great!!

Ideal Fence installed a fence for me in 2008. Great service at the time and I was hoping to give them more work but no such luck. The gentleman who came out to look at my yard and to give me a quote was very nice and responsive. I asked when I would receive the quote and he said that they did not email quotes so I would receive it by mail on Tuesday of the following week. The quote never showed up and it is now Thursday. I called this morning to ask about the quote and got their answering service. I left all my information and I have still not received a return phone call. (That was over three hours ago.) As much as I wanted to do additional business with Ideal, they dropped the ball. Reliable Fence visited the property the same day and I had a quote by email on Monday. As much as I would like to see Ideals quote, my confidence in their ability is shaken. If they can't send a quote or return a call would they show up to do the work? As a result, Reliable gets the 10K contract by default. Sorry Ideal... I tried.
