Eddie responded to my initial call right away, he came out to review what we needed a couple of days later - was punctual and had great advice on how we can fix the issues we had. He sent me a price estimate a couple of days later and we scheduled the job. On the day of the job, his people showed up right on time. They were great! They reviewed everything with me, explained what they were going to do, they did everything and then had a walk through with me. The price was exactly what Eddie had estimated and I am very satisfied with the work!.

They came for an initial visit to give an estimate and made suggestions as to the type and kind of fence to install. Returned to install the fence. They were careful of existing plantings, cutting vinyl fencing creates considerable debris but they completely cleaned up upon job completion.

Nice people. Good quality product and worth the price. My only issue was their poor communication with us about start dates and timing. Other than that I would highly recommend them...

At the payment of the deposit in June 2013 we were told the work would be completed in mid July. It was actually completed in late September. On the initial completion of the job: On one of the posts, the extension was not put on square with the existing post so that the combined post takes a very visible jog to the right at the top. One of the support pipes was cut off at an angle. There were cigarette buts and small pieces of lattice left at the work site. On at least one of the posts, several nails were left sticking out. Although it was not specified on estimate, I had assumed that the posts would be repositioned so that the tops of the lattice would be level, Instead, on one section the lattice top was off level by about a foot. These problems were corrected by Ideal fence, but they should not have required an email complaint to get them done. The lathe it self was cedar, but the boards used to hold the lathe in place were untreated softwood. I am now replacing these myself with pressure treated wood. While Ideal Fence in the end corrected the problems according to the terms of the estimate, I did not feel that the work represented what I have come to expect from the other A-rated providers on Angie's List. In retrospect, I wish I had done the work myself.

These guys were great at every step of the way. Responsive on the estimate, which was right in line with other vendors, worked patiently with us on things like different post shapes, staining, etc., and generally made the whole process easy. Tony and Jose did the work in a tidy, craftsmanlike way, and as they were doing the installation, took time to ask us about our preferences on details rather than just blasting ahead?.this was VERY much appreciated, and resulted in us and our neighbors being very satisfied. They also came back after the installation to make a small adjustment (not any mistake on their part, just an aesthetic thing we hadn't noticed at first). Good quality operation that really seems to want to make the customer happy.

Ideal fence was easy to work with. I emailed them a drawing of my needs and they sent me back an estimate for cost. It was easy and straightforward. They were very responsive. I decided not to use them because we found a slightly cheaper quote from another company that had an Angie's list coupon option.

We met with Mark in late April to discuss our project. We wanted a cedar fence around our property in Cambridgeport, but we wanted to incorporate horizontal slats. IdealFence agreed to work with us on this semicustom fence, while other fence company we contacted didn?t want to or gave us a really high estimate. We put the deposit down by the middle of May and we met in early June with Mark to go over the details, showing him our drawings and discussing position of posts, gates and making sure how fence was going to have only one step. On one side of our property the grade was not flat and we did not want to have steps. He suggested that we meet with John at the shop to go over the details. We met few times with John to discuss different option and he offered to make us a sample panel for us to approve. Unfortunately the first one did not work out but we agreed on the second one that had red cedar horizontal slats on the top part and while cedar universal cedar on the bottom. there was an additional cost for the red cedar part (which was a special order) but we got a discount for our patience, which we really appreciated. Mark sent Chris and his crew to install our fence in early August and they did an excellent job. They were very attentive to all details and our questions/requests. John came back twice to fix few problems (i.e. eliminating gaps between vertical slates which naturally happen when the wood dries and replacing some damages/tanning stained pieces). Both times when they came they were so impressed themselves about how beautiful it came out, both before we stained it and after (see pictures). Def an excellent job! The final result is impressive and everyone who has seen it gave us very good reviews and comments. If you are looking for something custom and unique, it is good to meet John at the beginning to discuss ideas and get his input. You will be happy with the final product and with the work of Chris and the other installers! A great team to work with!

The experience was very good. The salesman came out and spec'd out the job - the estimate was exactly what he said. We're very happy with everything.

They did an awesome job. They were very prompt. Whenever I called they called right back. They came when they said and they did a great job. The price was good. I had work done by them before. they were quick, efficient and pleasant. Eddie is a nice guy.

Good job! Edward Nilan called me within a few days after receiving my call,left the estimate in mailbox because I was not home at the time he came out.The work was completed the following week.

It was a very good experience. I got three quotes from three different companies. Ed Nilan gave me the quote from Ideal Fence and suggestions on how to best do the job. He was very helpful and professional. His team was professional and did a great job. Hard working and cleaned up after themselves. Very receptive to my questions. The fence looks great.

Ideal Fence was the first company we contacted (based on good reviews here on Angie's List) to get our fence repaired after the hurricane damage. They made an appointment to give us an estimate within a few days, and someone came out as scheduled. When we called back a couple days later to say we wanted to proceed, Ideal Fence said they would be back to do the work the following week, weather permitting. The weather seemed fine the following week but no one came, nor did they call. My husband called them again. They said they had been busy but would come the *next* week, weather permitting. The weather was OK the next week but, again, no one came or called. At the end of that week my husband called yet again, and they said they would come the NEXT week. They never came (or called), so he called The Fence Man, who came over within a few days and did a great job (that took just a few hours). We realize that this was a small job, and not really lucrative for Ideal Fence. It wouldn't have annoyed us if they simply said they didn't want to do it; it was the stringing along and lack of communication that was frustrating.

They showed up on time, the quality of the work was good. I haven't had an issue with the fence and the prices were reasonable.

It went fine. They worked with us on the plan. they came out to do it today and it all went perfectly.

Although I chose another installer on the basis of price, Ideal Fence impressed me.

I had several sections of my fence go down due to a hurricane. Mark quickly came out and provided me an estimate and options. He recommended I secure the whole fence with steel rods as opposed to the more expensive option of replacement. After 5 months and several storms, the fence is holding tight. I won't hesitate to use them in the future.

It was fabulous! The gentleman was honest, prompt, and did a good job in a timely manner.

Replaced sections of a stockade fence that had been damaged in Hurricane Sandy. The work wasl done well -- I'm pleased by the results. The problem was communicating with the co-owner who came to provide an estimate. I was leaving town for a month, starting in early January,two weeks after my call to the company, and wanted the work done before I left. I was told it would be close to two weeks before the job could be done. I said I'd try some other fence companies. The response was, well, maybe they could get to the job earlier. That didn't happen. Next issue, after giving me a quote I got a call from the co-owner. Were my cross-members rounded? Yes. That'll be another three hundred dollars. I said okay. Next issue. I called later in the week after I got the estimate, asked if my job was on the schedule. Not yet. The materials had had to be ordered, and hadn't shown up yet. Next issue. Yes, the materials had arrived and they could put me on the schedule. The Friday of the week after my first call. Late that Friday morning nobody had shown up so I called the company. Answering service, she'd get in touch with the company. (Standard procedure for this company.) Around fifteen minutes later I got a call back -- an unusually fast response -- sorry, they hadn't had time for me. They'd come the next day, Saturday. Which they did, and the two guys who showed up were friendly, expert, and did a fine job. Maddening all along the way was trying to get in touch with the company. A call would be taken by the answering service and good luck on getting a response within an hour or two. Final issue: I had some storm debris in my driveway. After the fence had been installed I asked what it would cost to remove the debris. Answer, from the company: $300. I said no, got the job done for $150.00. It took two men around fifteen, twenty, minutes. And here had been two men willing to do the removing, their truck already in my driveway. All I could think was that whoever provided that price was sending me a message along with the estimate -- we're not doing you any favors. A good installation, a good experience with the men who did the installation, an experience with the company that made me not want to work with them again.

The job was finished promptly, and all older material was removed from the job site. The old gate was installed over twenty years ago, but it should be noted that extensive fencing by Ideal ,which was completed almost twenty years ago still is in perfect condition.

Very punctual . Fences look good and sturdy.

I'm still considering whether or not I should get the job done by them. Their quote is a bit on the higher side - about $1000 more than the next quote that I have. I'm very impressed with their response so far and the professionalism with which they have interacted with me. I'm wondering if their higher quote translates to a better quality job, but not yet convinced that it is worth $1000 more.

I called Ideal Fence the day after Sandy damages to my fences. Eddie came out the next day and discussed options. His quotes were very reasonable. I later on changed my mind and only needed to have the fences removed instead of installing new ones. His two guys came out on Friday afternoon and took out 9 old fences and repaired 15 new vinyl posts within two hours. My Sandy woes are finally over thanks to Ideal Fence. They were extremely professional, honest and efficient. Will definitely use this company again for all my fencing needs.

It went according to plan. The fence was fixed within days and looks good as new. They uncovered a lot of rot and replaced the wood and fortified the posts with cement. They suggested replacing the gate handle and lock which has been a big improvement and the gate swings effortlessly now. They saved us thousands of dollars. I really appreciated their honesty - that the gate was fixable, especially since everyone else wanted to replace the entire fence.

Overall I was very happy with the experience and I would definitely use Ideal Fence again. I would highly recommend them as a company that is honest, punctual, and will complete the job well.
