We were consistently pleased with every aspect of service: responsiveness, patience, professionalism, quality of work, schedule (even working on a holiday to meet a deadline), consulting on materials, etc.
Description of Work: Cosco Landscaping has done a few jobs on our property: removing weeds from our entire lawn, laying down new soil, grading, and sowing grass. A larger job was demo of a large concrete driveway, installing 2 huge drywells, excavating clay as needed, laying down stone and pavers and cobble.

We looked at the work he's done and it was very good, high-quality work. The representative was prompt & courteous with providing us the estimate. The estimate was reasonable, however, we went with another company; we went with another company because it was recommended by someone we knew.

We had called several companies for quotes and Dom was the most responsive and prompt. Within a couple of days he had a site visit and took the time to understand and talk through our intentions sharing inquisitive considerations. The quote came promptly and there was ample follow up from both Dom via phone and office management via email. After deciding to proceed with Cosco, Dom and the project manager, Joe, came back on-site at our request to review the project once more and we made several adjustments at that point which both Dom and Joe were very accommodating towards. Dom was very informative of each step of the process along the way and checked-in after each phase to get feedback. Joe and the rest of the team were very courteous and attentive. Weather delayed paving several more days than would have been typically necessary but again, Dom called regularly to set expectations and make sure all timelines were agreeable. Ultimately, we couldn't be more pleased with the end results, the overall experience and the project value. Highly recommend Dom and the Cosco Landscaping work.
Description of Work: Cosco expanded our driveway from a single car spot to a 3 car deep/wide driveway. Project involved digging out old driveway, removal of large, rooted rhododendron and other shrubs; grading car-length depth of driveway, incorporating drainage from house and paving a wider and deeper, with granite edging.

After initial quote and work had started, we found that there was far more damage than origionally seen. The price quote almost doubled, but I understood the reasoning and the price. Domeinic Cosco and all of his menwere reponsive to my concerns, polite and very profeessional. Good guys, good job.

They build good fences. Their workman ship is top notch. I was unhappy about things they did. And the workers were pleasant and professional to fix it. But about a week later, the gate they installed would not close. The wood had warped. Everything would have been excellent had they not added the gate post.

We needed to replace railroad tie walls that were rotting out and wanted to replace with a stone look. Also needed to spruce up landscaping with new plants, mulch and inset stairs on the side of house. We were looking for a reputable landscape company that could do it all. We got three bids and chose Cosco Landscaping based on reputation, their work (which we saw at other jobs) and liked the owner's patient demeanor.
Description of Work: Replaced wood railroad tie walls with ideal block walls and repaired concrete steps. Pulled out old shrubs and planted new assortment of shrubs, perenials and put down mulch. Also intalled steps on the side of the house leading up to yard.

Dom asked me to do some research prior to our meeting so that he could give an accurate estimate for what we wanted done. He sent me to a site to do my homework. He checked in with me 1 hour before my meeting to let me know that he had received the email I sent him with my ideas - and that he was going to be there on time. We had a through talk about our options as we walked around the yard, and he had a lot of good ideas on how to improve the area - but did not seem to go over the top with any of his ideas. I am waiting to receive his quote. His ballpark was $20-25K - which was double what I expected. I will be meeting with 3 other companies in the next month. I figure from what I learn from them, and his quote, I can either figure out what I can cut, or what I can negotiate on, and if this is a good price or not. I hope to be able to make my decision and begin the hardscaping before the winter.

Cosco was one of the few firms that was responsive. While their price was the highest, I believed that their responsiveness was worth it. They did a very good job, and came back to fix an area that was not draining well. Unfortunately, right after the seed went down, we got weeks of rain, and I had to pay again for more re-seeding. The quality of work was high, so I would hire them again.

I've been using him for years. Compared to some of the other prices I got, he was very reasonable. He's not incredibly low or high. The thing I don't like about him is that he doesn't keep track of conversations we have very well. For instance, he said he wanted to talk to me about pruning before he did it. Well then he just showed up and started pruning without talking to me. The pruning also wasn't done very well, but he is very good about snow removal. He is very reliable and shows up as quick as he can.

I first called Dom in June, I believe, and told him that it was not important that the job be done immediately. He came and looked at the property. He had some very good suggestions for the area, as well as for ways to access it. He sent an estimate, which I approved. He suggested we talk in the middle of July. I called him, and he said he was aiming for August 1st, which was fine with me. I called him when I did not hear from him by August 1st, and he was able to come very quickly thereafter. He came with a whole crew of people who worked from morning to night to get the job done. They paid attention to detail and were very polite and easy to work with. Dom showed up on site several times to see how the work was progressing and make sure everything was being done to my specifications. He was very flexible and allowed me to add some things into the job that we had not agreed upon beforehand. There were only a couple of minor details that were not taken care of, such as putting sand into the cracks of the patio. I had also asked them, as an add on, to haul away a large amount of brush and branches that were left in my yard when a neighbor's tree fell into it. The part of the yard with the tree branches in it is not visible from the work site, so they forgot to take them, but I did not mention it when Dom called about the work because it was an add on and I was able to take care of it myself. I also did the sand myself, but I am not sure if I did it right, having never done such a thing before. I hope it does not affect the patio adversely! Since I was not around when the patio portion of the work was done, I was not there to see how they put the fences back together. Dom called to see how I liked the work and specifically asked how the fences were. Upon first glance, they seemed fine to me, but when I looked later I noticed that, although the fence is tight and aligned, not all the screws were put back into place. I could not find them anywhere, so I will have to buy new ones. I am sure that Dom would have taken care of it, if I mentioned it, but, as I said, I didn't notice it at first. The clean up job they did on my neighbor's yard after accessing my yard was exceptional. For such a big job, I think the work was excellent, the owner and crew friendly and hardworking and the price reasonable. Thanks Dom!
Description of Work: Dom and his crew took a very difficult to access lot, which was overgrown with nettles and poison ivy and made it into a usable space. They did lovely work. They removed a section of fence in my neighbor's yard (an abandoned property) and a section of my fence to access the area and replaced both. They completely scraped the whole area clean with a bulldozer, put in new top soil, built wonderful rock walls around garden areas (using rocks from the site) replanted a tree and built a little stairway down a very steep hill so we can get down from the upper yard. They also built a patio. I now have a weed free area with 3 rock gardens that will be plant-able next year. I also have a nice little patio. Overall, I am very pleased.

Dom Cosco responded quickly to our initial inquiry. He spent time taking us to various projects in nearby towns to show examples of his work, and also took us to stone yards to look at samples of various patio and walkway stones before we had even signed a contract. Dom advocated for an in-ground sprinkler system, but we held firm in our desire not to add that cost to the project. When we received the contract we worked with Dom to clarify some points, and also changed the payment schedule to reflect 1/3 total at signing and other payments upon various milestones (know the Mass. law regarding payment to contractors!). Some items were left to be determined as the project progressed (trees/shrubs). We did have some sticker shock at the prices charged for the plants. Work started in late August and proceeded quickly and steadily for about 2 weeks. We agreed on "substantial completion" in late September, but the project was only finalized in mid-November. Very nice guys on site.
Description of Work: Complete landscaping project, including replacement of a retaining wall bordering neighbor's property. The original retaining wall was stone and mortar, and sloped with the grade of the property. The new retaining wall is manufactured stone, requiring a level placement -- which resulted in a higher wall and less slope on our property. Work included leveling the backyard, complete lawn replacement (seed) on all sides of the house, driveway replacement, sidewalk replacement, installation of a blue stone walkway to front entrance and creation of a patio (tumbled stone). New stone walls were created in front of the house. Planting beds were created; new arborvitae borders planted.

Mr. Cosco was pleasant but was not organized. My property was checked out for the estimate but later when I called, he had not remembered being there. In any case, he provided a written estimate which required 60% of the payment up front. Considering there is virtually no material costs, almost all labor, I refused and offered 40%, which was rejected.

He gave us a reasonable estimate, but insisted on several meetings. He made promises verbally, but then gave us a contract that did not reflect his verbal promises. Tried to pressure us to sign immediately. Then tried to get my wife to "sign the contract and fax it over," as if signing the contract ourselves would protect us in any way. Then, when we complained, told us to rewrite the contract and send it to him. When we did so, he stopped returning our calls. Overall, an unpleasant waste of time.

The work itself was performed well, but Cosco failed to provide an estimate after I made two calls to provide this information. My wife came home from school early one day and discovered Cosco doing the work without our knowledge and a written estimate or contract. I talked to Dominick who had just completed a prior job with us with, and he gave me an estimate of $800 to do the work. I thought this was a little high, and would have looked for more estimates, but he had already started to do the work and I decided to go along with it. I received an invoice for $850, and asked why this exceeded the verbal price of $800 I had received earlier. Dominick started to explain that it takes time to haul the spoil away, after which I couldn't carry on the conversation any more. I feel this was done in a very unprofessional manner, and Cosco was irresponsible in not providing a written estimate before doing the work after I had made two requests for pricing...use caution with Cosco!
