The guy was excellent. They have been phenomenal and I would rate them highly. I had some medical conditions and they were willing to work with me and nicely. They have excelled in everything. The owner was exceptional and did an excellent job. I would highly recommend them and I can’t think of better things about them. They have been wonderful always. They are honest and show up when they say they would and do the work they say they would and clean up afterwards. I have never had any problems.
Description of Work: I used Cosco Landscape Co for landscaping. I am using them now for one of my other house. They do lawn mowing, fall and spring clean up and cleaned up the debris that somebody knocked out. They also maintain everything for me from cutting the shrubs to making sure all weeds are pulled. I have had a house fire so we had to get some debris and cement moved so they helped me with that too.

Dom was great. He had the best price of 5 contractors and was the most responsive with emails and phone calls. His workers were efficient and the work is of high quality. Everyone walking by loves the new driveway. We will have him back for more landscaping work in the spring.

The tricky part about this job was that we had to access our backyard through our neighbor's driveway, which involved coordinating with 4 different households. Dom was able to schedule the job for the week that the two neighbors directly behind us were on vacation, so we didn't have to disturb them. His crew is skilled in their work preparing the site and laying out the stones. They were careful and respectful of the fact that they were entering via our neighbor's property. The patio looks great and our neighbors weren't bothered at all.
Description of Work: Installed a 20 x 12 foot patio in our backyard, pavers with a boarder of cobblestones.

We used them twice, the first time for a smaller job, after about 6 inches of snow and they did a great job. The second time was much bigger and it took them much longer to come out. I understand they were strapped and extremely busy with lots of customers, but I would have appreciated more communication.

Response from COSCO LANDSCAPE CO
We really do our best to plow everyone as quickly as we can and to keep in really great communication. This was a tough winter and this was a very difficult and steep driveway. Our contract was for 6 inch plus storms only with the customer needing to call. So we plowed upon request and added them to our regular route on a per storm basis. The 30" storm this year was unusual, a very slow moving storm, as well as overwhelming and it was not easy to get to everyone quickly. With the shutdown of the MBTA, we had delays with a few drivers and shovelers. We did bring a bobcat and didn't charge extra. We have dozens of very happy snow customers and we really do our best to give the best customer service possible.

There were absolutely no problems at all during, after or now with the driveway work Dom and his crew performed.
Description of Work: I called Dom to come out and estimate the cost of refinishing the lower part of our commercial driveway. He was very prompt and the estimate came in a very timely manner. The job was completed on a weekend which was great as our driveway is always full on week days. As it turned out, I called him back for a little additional work and had strips painted as guides for the vehicles that park here. I would definetly use him again.
Don and Company came out and gave an estimate in regards to installing stone unilock pavers in our driveway. Don was awesome from the get go and provided a great estimate as well as talking me through the process and quality of Coscos work. He worked with me through the different paver colors, design and edging with the Cobblers. He showed me picture examples of his work around Boston. --He even spoke to my neighbor, who only speaks Italitan, to let him know what was going on. Cosco did a fantastic job in removing all the old asphalt and soil and bring the grade down to a manageable height. This exposed some of the lower brick foundation. Cosco guys did an awesome job with point/mason work to re-grout the bricks. They did this for no extra charge and also removed old metal fence cemented in the property. Coscos willingness to help every step of the way and 'no problem' attitude was a commonality through out the installation. As per request when leveling the driveway and turn around they sloped everything to allow optimal drainage away from the basement of the house. Unlike other companies I looked into, Cosco clearly took the time to level the ground off and bring in dump trucks full of crushed stone and stone dust to ensure the new paver drive way would last for a long time. As with any good contracting project one of the most important parts is the prep work and for that Cosco deserves and A+. Cosco cemented to cobblers in place and even made sure that if the sidewalk was ever ripped up by the city that the paver driveway would not be effected. After the pavers were down I wanted another planting bed cobbled in which they did with no issues. Cosco worked well with the city of Somerville ensuring that everything was up to code in regards to grass percentage, drainage, etc... It was great that they handled this issue with the city and I was not inconvenienced by it. They even through in a quick clean up in the backyard and left it in better shape then it was when they started. With Cosco you certainly get what you pay for and that is not only a long lasting good looking landscape project but also a great experience. Coscos workers were awesome and very respectful. Through out the process when I would look at the driveway they would explain what was going on and allow me to make any comments/suggestions. It was evident it was important to them to do a good job as the were very precise on measurements when cutting stone. Don even gave me advice in regards what he would plant and when in each soil bed. Overall everyone at Cosco from the front desk, through the workers did a fantastic job and I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for any landscaping work. Don and company stand by their work and I really could not of had a better experience. A big thanks to Cosco for a Job well done.
Description of Work: Drive way/landscaping estimate. Removal of old asphalt Design and pattern guidance Leveling and placing crushed stone Outlining of drive way and paver area with granite cobblers Communicating with the town to make sure everything was done by the book Installing pavers in chosen Pattern Putting sand in between pavers Clean up the site and soil new planting beds. So far, we are very happy with them even though the job is not done yet. They did give us an estimate as well. The owner was extremely polite and responsive. He gave helpful suggestions and advice on the design and color choice, dimensions, and proportions. Combination of edging versus the body of the driveway. It is a glowing review so far.

lso At the insistence of our insurance company -- who said they wouldn't continue to insure our house unless we fixed, among other things, some cracked paving on our parking space -- I turned to Angie's List for contractors who might be able to do the job, since we didn't have any personal recommendations from friends to draw on. I selected five of the best rated masonry contractors, including Cosco. Dom was the first to come over and give us a quote. It turned out to be the lowest among those that submitted bids. A previous customer had praised Cosco's professionalism and craft, and I can endorse that. Dom was patient with our process of selecting the stone we wanted (something as "green" as possible). I had asked for separate quotes for traditional stone and the more environmentally friendly Aqua-Bric or its equivalent. All the other contractors quoted me higher for the "green" option, saying it required more labor. Dom's quote was virtually the same for both. Dom and his crew were punctual, polite, considerate and cleaned up after themselves. The work was completed as scheduled. And the result is great! Many of our neighbors have commented on how attractive our new parking space is. I highly recommend Cosco. These folks clearly know their stuff and they take pride in doing a quality job.
Description of Work: Cosco paved our parking space alongside our house with Aqua-Bric stone. They created a stone border around the space and an adjoining front-yard flower bed, and also installed matching stone on a 4X2 area beneath our front steps.

finished the work, cutting trees and removing stumps the same day they started, appeared unannounced, stated that they would take down the trees in parts but cut whole trees and one almost fell onto house
Description of Work: cut/removed trees and tree stumps
We discussed our options for surface types, pavers and patterns with the owner Dom and got estimates for the work. His crew was prompt, polite and worked efficiently. We very happy with how well the surface under the pavers was prepared -- the site was thoroughly excavated and a good base of gravel & sand was applied. The new driveway and entryway looks great. We appreciated the crew's attention to detail. For example, they suggested installing a few of the cobblestones on the boarder at ground level where we have to pull our trash cans out.
Description of Work: Removed existing asphalt driveway, brick entryway and wood border; excavated existing dirt and roots; put down gravel/sand base; laid pavers and a cobblestone boarder.
To repair the driveway, they had to excavate and dispose two large tree roots that were growing below the driveway. The estimate was lower than some other estimates we had for the same work. The retaining wall was a bit tricky to replace because it also was damaged from the tree roots, and other companies estimates did not include the concrete wall the way the condo required it. Domenic took some time to discuss the work to be done in detail and then his team did a careful job of replacing the driveway and the wall. They both look great, including the section of the garden next to the wall. It took a few days to a week to complete, including the necessary time to dry the driveway and the wall. I would recommend Cosco for this type of work, as well as landscaping.

Excellent.. hire these guys! They know what they are doing and willing to take and make the right suggestions for a perfect looking yard.
Description of Work: Hands down some of the best stone work i have seen. Dom and crew took down 16 arborviate's for us in preperation of the new fence around the entire property. Dom also put in a new front and side walkway with Unilock Bruseels pavers. It was amazing in terms of detail, time to complete(4 days total). Dom was also very accomodating in that we came back after the fence was installed to touch everythingup. Dom's team also so a discoloring of the garage concrete base and took the time to make it nice and clean by resurfacing the entire foundation. Hire these guys.. they are purely awesome and know what they are doing! We also got various quotes over the years and Dom's quote was hands down the best by far!

Cosco did two things for us: 1. they re-asphalted the driveway, which was very banged up. they did a nice job of resurfacing, with a slope so that water would run off. I only put a B because after they finished we had floods in the basement. somehow the water was running from the driveway into our basement, and we had to bring in more workmen to seal up any additional problem areas - which cosco hadn't sealed to start with. 2. they trimmed the trees last spring, and did a fine job. i reserve A grades for companies that really go over the top, so a B is a solid, good grade and i would and have rehire these folks. recommended.

As always Dom and crew are extremely professional and do a wonderful job. Everyone in the neighborhood has commented on the beautiful driveway they put in. We hired Dom with a bit of a time crunch as the city puts a moritorium on curb cuts and sidewalk repair in mid november. Dom fit us into a very busy schedule and took care of everything.
Description of Work: We had used Dom years ago on a project in brookline at our old house. When it was time, in our new house, to install a driveway we immediately called Dom. Dom and crew gave us a new curb cut for a pavered driveway. They cut the curb (the granite from which we later used as a small retaining wall between the yard and the new driveway). They installed an amazing pavered driveway in a tight space and rebuilt the neighbor's dilapidated fence, as well as some other odds and ends Here's what they did in a list form. Driveway Option #1 Curb Cut Dug and Poured New Footing for existing porch 125 sq ft paver walkway to back door installed. Trees cut and disposed with roots. Fence removed and disposed as well as othermiscellaneous items. Repaired fence repair with new 4 x 6 x 8 feet tall wood in three footings and reinstalled. Disposal. Repaired railroad ties in front bed area. Insttalled cobbles along back area of driveway

When Dom came and looked at the project, he was honest with me stating that he could not finish the work until my painting contractors finished their job. He initially ground the tree stumps and leveled the yard. After the painters finished their work three weeks later, his crew came back and completed the project. Later I noticed they missed a tree stump. I called up Dom and told him; and so his crew removed the stump when they did additional work for me several weeks later (I needed my irrigation system winterized)

The two guys arrived on time at 8:30am and the job lasted about 3 hours. The two workers are very skillful and friendly. The job was well done. The results exceeded my expectation, so I gave them some tips. However, there are two issues: they don't have cranes or lifting equipment. It's just the two skillful workers who climbed to the top of the big tree which is about 25 to 30 feet high. I watched them, and very scared. I felt regretted that I had not asked about whether they have liability insurance. And they did not give you the official receipt promptly. I asked couple times and still haven't got one.
Description of Work: I have a big Mulberry and about a dozen of small Maples which need to remove all limbs on my side in the yard; And because of the storm which happened two months ago there was also a big log fell on my garage roof that also needed to be removed. I got two other quotes besides Cosco's. One is $650 and the other is $950. Cosco's quote is $550 in cash. I selected Cosco. I was quite satisfied with their job.

Overall it went well, I'm very happy with what they did. My wall looks like a million bucks, the neighbors compliment me on it. Having seen what went into it, I think it should last. The crew worked through the hottest week of summer without complaint. The job wasn't completely smooth. They cracked a gas line at one point (I bet that foreman won't forget to call Dig Safe next time!) and the wall had to be built one course higher than expected. Things happen; they were straightforward about what was going on and how much it would cost. These projects are never fun, but I would use Cosco again. They got the job done at a reasonable price, and if there were some bumps along the way, the end result is super professional.
Description of Work: Cosco removed a crumbling brick retaining wall around the small front yard of my house, including a staircase and patio area, and replaced it with concrete block wall and pavers. The footprint and layout stayed the same, the only thing that changed was rerouting three downspouts. We negotiated the contract pretty carefully in advance, and I paid $1000 extra for a material upgrade to slightly better looking concrete blocks.

Overall I had very good experience with Cosco. They were very prompt to return my first call and Dominic came within days to look at the job. based on what we discussed over phone, They gave me a very competitive quote. On the day of service they came right on time and started on the job immediately. The person who actually cut the tree was a bit concerned when he saw the size of the tree, but without complaining he immedately got started and worked non-stop till the job was done. Dominc and his team joined the effort and did a very good job in cleaning up. We also discussed cutting several dead branches of my other oak trees. Since we only spoke over phone, Dominic underestimated the number of branches I was considering. Realizing the misunderstanding ( and I share the blame for that as well), he tried his best to offer potential solution and ultimately gave me $100 discount from the quoted price. This was not an easy tree to cut and Cosco has done a very good job with reasonable price without making it look like a huge deal (which some of the other companies have tried). I am very pleased with their work and will hire them again if needed.

Cosco Landscape was one of three landscaping companies from which I requested quotes for this job. Domenic was extremely responsive by email and phone and very prompt in arriving to provide the quote. He was the second service provider I talked to, so I already had a good idea what I wanted, and he agreed with the plan and provided his reasons for agreement along with some additional recommendations. We chose Cosco because their quote was about $4000 less than the highest quote -- he proposed using very high quality Unilock pavers as opposed to the even higher-end Techo-blok pavers suggested by the other service provider -- we decided Unilock was good enough for us after reading many online landscaping/paving forums. Another plus was their professionalism, convenient communication including electronic transmission of contracts/invoices/payments/choices of paver materials and laying patterns. Despite occasional inclement weather, they started the job on time, worked whenever they could (even in between rains) and finished within a week, three weeks before my stated deadline. They were very careful to keep track of my plantings and replanted them methodically, and even reseeded the lawn where some grass was worn away. Even though these latter services were not in the original contract, we were not charged any more than the quote.
Description of Work: Remove existing front walkway from stairs to side entrance measuring approximately 172 square feet. Remove small patio area on side of house and dispose of all excavated materials. Install approximately 3” of Crush and Run in newly excavated site and 1” of stone dust on newly compacted base. Prepare patio area, installing Unilock Brussels block pavers, in prepared walkway and patio area(s). (total about 300 sq ft) Prepare a border for completed area(s), measuring approximately 8’ x 9’, with cobbles on three sides. Remove one Arborvitae tree on corner of house. Reduce front planting, and install cobble border around new front plantings, bordering bed area(s). Re stucco main front stairs and rebuild small driveway stairs, with new lime stone treads (5 total). Use round field stone on bottom and sidesof stairs. Applied topsoil and grass seed to areas from which grass was worn off due to incidental wear and tear during the job.

Our contract with Cosco specified that six inches of old soil would be removed and replaced with fresh topsoil, and that the grade would be raised (we had some problems with rainwater draining into our basement). In addition, some small trees and bushes were to be removed, and some downspouts were to be routed to a popup drain. We were happy with the work they did in removing the plants and fixing the downspouts, but things went downhill after that. Over a period of two days, Cosco removed and replaced soil, and then Domenic Cosco (the owner) told us the job was finished. This was odd, because it obviously wasn’t. If anything, the grade had been lowered, not raised, and the two window wells that had been installed to allow the grade to be raised did not even reach up to the bottom of the basement windows. When we pointed this out, Domenic then said that he would come back with more soil to finish the grading, but no date was set. Meantime, after a heavy rainstorm, when we looked at the new soil, we discovered rocks and other debris that were far larger than should have been able to pass through a screener. We also found large pieces of glass, nails and metal sitting on the top of the soil. Clearly something had gone very wrong. When we told Domenic about this, he said that the soil had come from Boston Bark, a very reputable supplier. After weeks of delays, calls, denials, etc., we called Boston Bark ourselves. The people at Boston Bark were incredibly helpful and cooperative, and we are very grateful to them. With their assistance, we discovered that only a small amount had been bought from them, and that the rest of it had come from an excavator. After much difficult discussion and persuasion, Domenic agreed to refund $2500 from the $3500 we had already paid him. That left Domenic with $1000 for the work he had done, which we thought was quite generous. Despite promising to deliver a check to us on a specified day, he did not. We called him the next day, and Domenic responded angrily and in a highly unprofessional manner. After we threatened legal action, he finally brought our check over.
