The problem was identified and fixed. Very pleased with the service. The A/C broke during the heat wave. The mechanic arrived the next day, found a problem and spent 4 hours fixing it which was way past his work schedule. He actually said that he would not leave until he finishes the job. Appreciate the professionalism and dedication. Would recommend Alpha Mechanical to everyone. Viktor from Brighton

It was okay. They have a problem, they are too established. When the owner comes out, it's a terrible experience. When the workers come out, it's much better. I wouldn't necessarily recommend them. At the end of the day, they probably do their work, but I would look somewhere else. If I was in desperation, I would call them. The owner came out, and seemed to be abrupt, arrogant, and abrasive.
Description of Work: We had an issue about the vibrations that are on the roof.

Last year (2012) we needed a completely new central heating/cooling unit. The owner came to give us an appraisal and really seemed to know his job. Turned out, that first appearance was the last we would ever see of him. Over the next few days, his workers came and installed the unit. First they used the old vent when they should have made a new one and not only was the AC not working properly but it was horribly loud. They kept saying that's just normal until my husband diagnosed the problem and insisted they call the owner and check who finally gave instructions that a new higher placed vent would be better. When the work was done, the owner's wife (who I guess is the co-owner) called my husband and *insisted* he pay up immediately--my husband was not given a chance to come home from work and inspect what had been done. So he paid. When he came home he discovered there was more work that needed to be done, some stuff with the new vent hadn't even been finished. So he had to call the company and insist they finish the job without further payment--after some argument they did that. Fast forward to this year. We switched the AC on and the house didn't cool. We were surprised--the heat had worked fine all winter, but we hadn't used the AC at all because we had been abroad. So I called the company and spoke to the owner's wife. She told me our guarantee had expired and did not cover repairs or coming out to take a look at it. I was fine with that but explained that we were surprised the AC was not working because it hadn't been used. She then she proceeded to accuse us of breaking the AC and actually insisted that unless I paid for the service immediately over the phone, no one would even come to look at the unit--she had the bad manners to tell me that she didn't want people to show up and then not be paid by us because they couldn't fix the problem right away or had to come back. I was shocked. I hung up and called another company in Lexington who were amazing and fabulous. They came over and found that the exhaust outside had a HUGE leak and there was no freon left in the AC. I specifically asked the guy whether a leak of this sort was something that could just have been missed by accident--he said it was so big that he was very surprised that Alpha Mechanical had missed it! so we spent more $$ getting the leak fixed and now finally we have a working AC. I will never ever use AM again. And I wouldn't recommend it to anybody.
