Abe is pleasant, thoughtful, helpful and his team does the best scraping and painting job that I have ever seen. They are meticulous in getting everything exactly right. The price was asbsolutely right for this job. I cannot recommend him more highly.Give the job to his organization and then watch with pleasure.

Abe's men (particularly Paolo and Washington) were absolutely fantastic. My parents had a fire in their house last fall. Abe's crew came in and spent almost eight weeks painting every room, fixing the holes the firemen had put in the walls, fixing plaster damaged by water, and settlement cracks. The price was very reasonable for the work done - it is a very large house and there was extensive damage. Abe's men were extremely accomodating of my parent's needs and were just a complete pleasure to work with. They had previously (back in 2008) done exterior painting of my parents' house. They were hired to do the interior painting because my parents were very pleased with the quality of their work. There are very few contractors I would recommend without some reservation. Abe is one of these.

Abe Schickel personally came to look over the project and give an estimate. He was knowledgeable and gave some good suggestions for making the final result better. The job started on time when promised and continued without delay until finished - 5 days in total. On the start day Abe came with his 2 painters and reviewed the job with me and his workers. The workers were friendly, efficient and were easy to communicate with. They were careful to close off the work areas from the remainder of the house to prevent dust from going everywhere. The work was done in a timely manner. When the coverage of the 2 coats still allowed some of the underlying color to detract from the look of the job, it was pointed out to me and we decided to do a 3rd coat without delay. We are very happy with the final result and the paint used has been very durable and easy to keep clean.

He was fabulous! He came back out and made sure everything was good. He had a great professional group and would highly recommend them. He used the best paints as well.

Abe Schickel & Co Inc was pretty good. He was expensive in comparison to another quote. He was very professional. He gave us some ideas. His response was good. He took three or four days before he came round. He was almost too professional because he wanted me to sign things and stuff. I guess we didn't really hit it off.

The job went really well. I was surprised at how quickly they finished all the work. Abe responded right away to my initial call, came out quickly and got the quote to me right away. The workers started on time, were very careful about keeping the dust out of the rest of the house. The job came out really well. They did a great job repairing and smoothing out the walls-these are old original plaster walls and they look really nice. Overall I was very happy with the work and the service and plan to hire them again for some wallpaper work.

Having Abe Schickel paint your house seems to require an initial wait, because he seems so busy with other customers. We have used him before. Once he came over, he carefully reviewed and planned the scope and details of the proposed work with us. He is very thorough and pays close attention. He will arranged a starting date (this time, he did delay the start by a few days), and brought over the boss of the work crew to go over exactly what was to be done. Abe didn't do any of the painting, but he does supervise his crew well. He can be reached by phone if there is a problem. After the work was done, we had a few small problems to address (missed a coat in one or two small spots, etc.), and he came over, inspected them, and had the painters come back within a couple days to make it right. He uses good quality paint. He is fairly expensive, but worth it for the quality of the painting.

The team was kind to our dog and very, very detailed oriented.

Abe Schickel & Co were wonderful! Abe came in gave an estimate and away we went. His 2 guys came in and did such an amazing job. They were so quiet and clean that you would not even know they were in your house. Even when they left everything was put back and spotless. I would definitely recommend them. Any services you need use them, you will not regret it and have a wonderful result. Thanks Abe!!

From the initial meeting with the owner; the estimates and guidance for preparation; completion and follow up this was a firsl class experience. Every detail is covered in the initial estimate documents complete with references and guides for the homeowner. There was considerable prep work including power wash and reglazing of 26 windows; all done with great care and attention to both the house itself and surrounding gardens. In addition, Abe was able to refer me to a great carpenter who took care of some woodworking issues and repair prior to the paint job. The scheduling of the paint job itself was worked out carefully with me; Abe was available to answer questions and followed up during the course of the project. The job itself it exceptionally well done; every night the crew cleaned the site and stored equipment away from the home, and there is not a single drop of paint on the brick facade, the walkways, plants etc. Very neat and careful work. The crew was personable, polite and obviously take great pride in their work. I have engaged Abe Schickel for additional interior work.

Abe is awesome. A true professional. From the moment he pulled up in his pick-up truck for our first meeting, I could tell he was a serious professional who would be a pleasure to work with. As the treasurer of my condo association, I wanted someone who would perform the work quite independently and to the extent possible, not disrupt the residents of my condominium. He had team worked til 7 or 8 in the evening to accomodate our schedules. The price that Abe quoted was about $200 more than others, but I had such a good vibe that he'd do a good job. Abe has multiple teams performing the work, and he set them all up to do a great job. The workers were extremely polite and clean - wiping up after each day's work so well that I wouldn't even notice that they had been there. When Abe's workers were painting the doors with a strong smelling paint, they offered to put up plastic barriers to prevent the fumes from entering the house. External painting and good weather are hard things to coordinate. That said, Abe was great about scheduling the days when he'd be painting. On the final day he was concerned that some of the paint he had applied may not dry dur to the dropping temperatures. He very kindly had his painters return back to my house and put a fan on the paint over night to ensure that it would dry in a reasonable amount of time. All in all, it was a fantastic experience and I would certainly hire Abe again. You may pay ~5-10% extra for for the peace of mind, it's worth it knowing that the job will get done properly.

Abe's crew were friendly, courteous and polite. They took pains to keep everything neat, spread tarps to catch the scrapings, and cleaned up every evening. The painting looks very good. Abe himself was very solicitous and asked more than once if anything had been missed or wasn't done to our expectations. He also didn't have a problem with my wanting to save money by painting the front of the house myself. I don't know how much other painters charge - I'm sure I could have found someone for less - but Abe painted my house ten years ago (it's yellow and has faded a lot) and I was happy enough with that job that I just went straight to him for this one.

We checked out Angie's list and asked for estimates from three painters listed. All were very responsive and came by promptly to give an estimate. However, we felt Abe was the most thorough and complete. His office called us the day we requested an estimate. He was out within the week, thoroughly examined the job and spent considerable time asking what we wanted and thinking through what would be required. We received an estimate within a couple of days and a phone call for follow-up. The price wasn't the cheapest but was very competitive. Once we decided to use them, we were sent a through set of documents outlining the process; what paint brand they used, how to select colors and what we could expect from them. Because our job was relatively small, they had to fit us in-between larger jobs which meant we had to be slightly flexible but there was no inconvenience. They started a little over a week after we signed our contract and we loved the painters. Abe brought them over to meet us and went over the job. Our two painters were terrific. They were pleasant, thorough, very clean, and did an excellent job. They were great people and great painters. We would definitely use them again!

I called and left a message and my call was returned promptly. an appointment was set up for an estimate for this small job. He came when scheduled and estimated the job. Although this is not his normal work location area, and he was busy he promised he would squeeze the job in which he did.The work was performed to my satisfaction.and I appreciated that he came out for such a small job promptly.

Not only were the employees of the company doing a careful terrific job. Abe himself gave us detailed instructions on what stuff to keep in the room. He called several times to see how the job was going. The job was finished promply and done very well. The wall was nicely patched and the painting was near perfect.

Abe came to give us a quote in a very timely manner. Settling on a start date was a bit delayed between us waiting for some prior work to be finished (including us removing wallpaper and glue to save money) and also coordinating with Abe. Once the work was started, everything went amazingly fast. His team came and closed off the rooms with plastic that were not being painted (including a zipper so we could get through!) and got started. What we thought would take four days, actually really took three. They transformed our walls and made them look perfect! Everything was incredibly spotless after they left - no doubt cleaner than when they started. A few days after the painters finished, the wallpaperer (John) came to finish the dining room. We had chosen a difficult pattern and therefore ran out of wallpaper before he could finish. Thankfully, he was able to return as soon as our additional roll came in and he really did an amazing job. Working with Abe and his team was great. They are reliable (they come on time - when they say they are coming!); they finish when they say they will.... and perhaps ahead of schedule; they are easy to work with. Perhaps the price was a bit high, though I'm not sure that it was. The quality was worth it. We would definitely use them again!

It was a very good experience and I would recommend them to anyone needing a high quality, no compromise, paint job.

Abe called on a rainy morning and asked if the painters could come and do the inside work as they could not work outside...three days ahead of schedule. I was at work at the time and by the time I got home not only had the porch been painted, but all furniture and curtains were put back in place. The following week, the painters arrived on schedule, did the work, cleaned up and left. The deck required only one coat of stain, so Abe called and offered a refund, since the contract called for two coats; or alternatively, he offered to wash and re-stain the deck furniture! Abe called frequently during the process, kept me informed and asked about my preferences continuoulsy! They did a great job, even returning the week following completion of the work to replace deck furniture! Fabulous! This was not an inexpensive project, but the work was done on time and the house looks fabulous. The painters were professional and eager to please! I would definitely hire them again. I appreciate that Abe kept in close contact with both me and the painters throughout the process! No problems, no miscommunications!

Excellent: Professional, Meticulous. Polite and Couteous. Perfect results. I was very impressed.The estimate (the middle of three) was very professional and complete, and matched my needs and expectations.The proposal package was complete and detailed (insurance certificates, references, etc).The crew, (Washington and Ben), showed up as scheduled, did the work with surpassing care, handled all the details (including some wasps).Spread drop cloths on every horizontal surface that might have been at risk, protected all the landscaping.Cleaned up and stowed all their gear at the close of every day.Worked full and long days (around the weather) until the job was finished.These guys were just great. I would hire them again or recommend them to a friend, in a heartbeat.

They did a fantastic job doing the color matching with the trim.

Abe was very good, he came as agreed to provide me an estimate. His estimate was fair and he followed up to answer any questions. He sort of wanted to rush me to get going, but he explained he had availability to get started on an inside job. The guys came and were very neat. I was not there, but they were very responsible. They removed the wall paper and it wasn't possible to see that wall paper had ever been there. There was a glitch in that I didn't like the colors, as I rushed to pick colors as he wanted to get started. I called him and told him to stop, and he accomodated me as I picked out new colors and he used those. The final paint job was very well done. There was a bit of damage on my new floors, but we settled the item with no problem. Overall, good value, great job, very professional.

Came promptly, advised stripping exterior paint to bare wood, said he didn't do that himself.Courteous, professional.

Despite his very high bid (the highest in fact), we hired Abe Schickel based on the reviews on Angie's List and how knowledgeable he seemed during the bidding process. Judging from everyone else's experiences perhaps mine was a giant fluke but it was truly awful. (Also note that this job was performed a few years ago). In a nutshell the quality was really lousy most likely due to the subcontractors Abe hired for this job. Perhaps the job was so small that he didn't want to trouble himself with his normal crew but the guys that came did not seem to know what they were doing. And considering how much he charges, this does not seem acceptable. The problems: - The painters did not bother to fill or sand the nail holes (they just primed right over them). In fact, they did not bother to sand anything at all. I complained to Abe about this and he was very reluctant to come out to address this issue. (He actually instructed me to tell them to fix the problem but I didn't feel it was my responsibility especially because I am not an expert) - The painters left paint all over the glass and Abe claimed that painters do not normally clean this up and that it was my own responsibility to scrape it off. - The painters got dark green paint on the white areas and did not bother to touch these areas up. I had to do the touch up myself. - The painters broke the mechanism on one of the new windows. I found them struggling to remove the sashes - so much so I had to show them how to do it. Unfortunately, I discovered this AFTER they had forced one of them out incorrectly. When I mentioned this to Abe, he basically insisted that it had already been broken and that I was flat out wrong. - The painters informed me that it was okay to close the windows when they were done with the job but now the windows forever stick. They also got paint on the side plastic jambs that was not easily removable. - His subcontractors gave me business cards/brochures for their own home improvement and painting business which was not only unprofessional but kind of embarrassing for Abe IMHO. - Abe rarely came on the job to check on the progress of the work unless I begged him to come fix some of the aforementioned problems. He did so VERY reluctantly and eventually he stopped taking my calls even though some of the issues were still outstanding.

Abe Schickel responded quickly, spent time carefully listening to us and understanding our concerns and time constraints, prepared a prompt detailed competitive proposal supplemented by insurance information and suggestions for preparing for the work, and patiently responded to several worried calls from me about how it would all work. His crews started quickly on our interior work when the weather was bad. They were prompt, helpful, friendly, extremely professional and easy to work with even at close quarters in our small house. They protected everything and always cleaned up thoroughly. As Abe had promised, the exterior work was completed in plenty of time for the wedding. His team was smart about the weather. None of the landscaping suffered at all (and that took some real effort and care). The attention to detail both outside and inside the house was extraordinary. The cellar bulkhead prepped and painted inside and out, the interior of our screen porch, finishing around the electrical service fixtures, the gutters and downspouts, pieces of trim not usually visible behind bushes, the wooden shutters, all got minutely careful attention and came out looking beautiful. I had fretted about prepping and paint applied with intervening days of hard rain, but as promised, everything was scheduled around the rough weather and now, two years later, the house still looks freshly painted and the wedding pictures are a source of pride.
