Abe was on time for providing a quote and coordinated his work with completion of some exterior carpentry work I had done.

This was only an estimate, so there wasn't much interaction. Abe seemed very knowledgeable and professional. It did, however, take a long time to connect (I played phone tag with his ?receptionist? for more than a week) and schedule the appointment. He was the only painter who did not leave me with an estimate in hand. He said a quote would come by mail, but he ended up calling a few days later with an estimate. He has been too busy to sit down and write an official quote, so it would be mailed later. His price was significantly higher than all the others I received, though, so we're not waiting for the paper. He was understanding of this. Not a talker, but seems like he'd do a great job if we could afford it.

Abe and his guys were very professional, timely, polite and helpful. He was also very flexible when we needed to slightly change the scope of the work, including patching holes and repainting additional areas. He also honestly told us the condition of the ceiling, saying it could be patched vs. replaced. He was the only contractor we asked to bid on the job to offer the option and fairly evaluate the current conditions.

Mr. Schickel was very friendly and came out to do the estimate promptly. However, the quote I received was astronomical: I got 4 other quotes that ranged from $850 to $1500 for prepping, priming, and 2 finish coats on my railings. His quote was $2300 and did not include any prep. In addition, he told me that prepping the bare wood or previously primed surfaces was not very important prior to painting (which is completely the opposite of everything I've ever heard, i.e. that good prep is the key to good paint performance). When I asked what kind of procedure they follow for painting railings (eg. balusters first, then the underside of the rails, then the sides, then the top), to ensure a good result, he said they don't really go into that level of detail. I think lack of interest in doing this small job might be part of the reason for the high estimate and the overall nonchalant answers to my questions.

Excellent. The crew was diligent, competent and thorough. They cleaned up after themselves each night, worked efficiently, and even took care with the flower beds. I would recommend this company to anybody. We had cheaper quotes, but the quality and professionalism was well worth the small premium.

Professional and thoughtful in the process of estimating. Did not hire because was much more expensive than competitors. But still a pleasure to do ''business'' with.

Abe is very professional. His written quote covered all the details. His price was competetive, and he was kind enough to accommodate us when we needed the job done sooner than anticipated. The house looks very nice.

I originally contacted him in the fall, but it was too late in the year so we had to wait until spring. They were very careful about my garden. Nothing was trampled. They were very prompt and quick. Quite satisfactory altogether. I would definitely recommend them.

Very responsive and professional but he got the proposal wrong and his price was high and he was only going to do one coat of paint on the exterior porches. Everyone else's price included 2 coats of paint for the same price.

Excellent. Abe returned my inquiry promptly, the two men arrived either on time or early both days they worked. I pointed out a few little problems that were taken care of to my satisfaction.

Our experience was very professional and pleasant from the first phone call. They were very prompt getting back to us and set up a time to review the job. Abe gave a lot of attention to our job and took pride in the work. All of the details were carefully explained and the interaction was up-front from the beginning. The whole job was completed very quickly -in only 4 days- and the site was kept very clean after work each day. The work was exceptional and the attention to detail was great. I can't wait to use them again for more jobs at our house. I would highly recommend them!

Abe was extremely responsive to my phone calls. All work was done in a timely and expedient manner. Work crew was professional, polite, skilled, independent. We couldn't have asked for better service or a better paint job. People are literally remarking upon how wonderful and smooth the paint job is--it was well worth the money. We will definitely, definitely use Abe Shickel painting the next time we need something done!

Have not yet engaged contractor. However very professional during the quote process. Provided a list of typed references and very impressive.

Abe was friendly, responsive, and moderately priced. His crew did a good job with the painting. Abe was the one who recommended, at his own initiative, that we sand down the popcorn ceiling; it looks 100 times better, and we are very pleased with the results. We do have some feathering along the heater baseboards and along the windows; not sure if that was inevitable or not. Abe suggested that an additional coat of paint there may help and offered to send his crew over for the touch-up. Instead, we took his alternative offer of paying $50 less and having my husband, who had painted for several summers in college, do the painting. If it didn't improve, Abe offered to come back to look at it. Our only complaint was that the clean-up afterwards, particularly necessary because of the sanding, could have been better.

ABE IS A PROFESSIONAL. HE WAS PROMPT WITH HIS QUOTE. HIS CREW WAS EXCELLENT; THEY WERE ON-TIME, HARD-WORKING, CAREFUL AND COURTEOUS. OVERALL, THEY DID A GREAT JOB. WHILE ONE COULD FIND A LESS EXPENSIVE PAINTING CONTRACTOR, ABE DELIVERS PREMIUM SERVICE AT A FAIR PRICE. WE WOULD USE HIM AGAIN WITHOUT HESITATION.

ALL OF OUR DEALINGS WITH ABE AND HIS CREW WERE PROFESSIONAL, AND EACH STAGE OF THE PROJECT WAS COMPLETED ON TIME. THE CREW DID AN EXCELLENT JOB AT ALL STAGES OF THE PROJECT. THE FINAL RESULT WAS A VERY GOOD PAINT JOB WITH WHICH WE ARE VERY HAPPY. THE CREW CLEANED UP AT THE END OF EACH DAY. THEY ALSO LEFT A VERY CLEAN YARD WHEN THEY FINISHED UP THE PROJECT.

SECOND EXPERIENCE WITH ABE'S COMPANY. EQUALLY AS GOOD AS FIRST.

ABE WAS VERY WARM. I KNOW HE WOULD HAVE DONE A WONDERFUL JOB, BUT THE QUOTE WAS SO FAR BEYOND WHAT I IMAGINED IT WOULD BE.

HELPFUL AND DETAILED CONSULTATION DURING ESTIMATE PROCESS.

RESPONDED PROMPTLY TO CALLS. PROVIDED VERY DETAILED INFORMATION WITH THE ESTIMATE AND WAS A PLEASURE TO DEAL WITH. ULTIMATELY WE USED ANOTHER CONTRACTOR WHO PROVIDED US WITH A LOWER ESTIMATE.

ABE CAME AND MET WITH ME, THEN SUBMITTED A WRITTEN ESTIMATE. HE WAS TOTALLY FAIR IN DETERMINING DEDUCTIONS FOR CHANGES WE REQUESTED. HE AND HIS CREW WERE UNFAILINGLY ON TIME, POLITE AND INTELLIGENT TO DEAL WITH. THEY CAME WHEN THEY SAID THEY WOULD, AND COMPLETED THE WORK ON SCHEDULE, IN LESS THAN A WEEK. WHEN THERE WERE A FEW MINOR PROBLEMS, ABE CAME TO CHECK THEM OUT, THEN SENT A FOREMAN TO FIX THEM. HE SUGGESTED THAT WE WITHHOLD MORE THAN WE WOULD HAVE OURSELVES, UNTIL ALL THE WORK WAS COMPLETED. THE WORK WAS THEN COMPLETED WITHIN A FEW DAYS. HE EVEN FIXED SOMETHING WE HADN'T MENTIONED. I APPRECIATED THE FACT THAT HE WAS HAPPY TO TALK ON THE PHONE, AND DID NOT EXPECT ME TO BE HOME TO MEET WITH HIM OR WHILE THE WORK WAS GOING ON. HIS CREW SEEMED TO BE WELL SUPERVISED AND CAREFUL.
