They were one of the most informative companies I had spoken with and that was what made me choose them. They really knew their stuff. They did a nice job of prepping the areas and I was very satisfied with the job they did.

We got an estimate for exterior painting of our ranch. Mr. Schickel returned my call promptly, scheduled and appointment and came when he said he would. Mr. Schickel sent us a bid via email within 48 hours and then several days later we received an impressive package of information in the mail along with the bid formally written. Although Mr. Schickel's bid was competitive we ended up going with another company that does two coats for about the same money. Mr. Schickel was professional and a pleasure to work with.

The gentleman was as personable as he was thorough. Everything went perfectly, the colors are right, the trim work perfect and he was careful and considerate of my belongings. I give him a high recommendation in all aspects of his business from customer relations to work performed.

Abe returned my call promptly, came to the house, & made a thorough assessment of the work that would be required. He mailed a detailed bid. Several months passed between the time we requested his estimate & when the house was ready for painting; even so, his estimate was so thorough that he knew exactly what it did & did not cover. He was exceptionally organized & "on top of it", a big plus as far as I was concerned. My wife & I scheduled painting for a week we would be on vacation. Painting began on the exact day we agreed on & was nearly finished when we returned five days later, ahead of schedule. Quality was very good: consistent coverage, smooth work, & attention to detailed instructions. We were disappointed by one of the colors we had chosen & were able to negotiate a re-paint of that area with minimum problems. Abe & his crew all seemed to take pride in the project.

Abe came to review the job as scheduled and had good questions to make sure he understood the scope of the work. An email and packet came in the mail early the next week. Their information gathering materials are excellent and so are the suggestions for choosing paints. Their price was comparable to another company that gave an estimate and I felt the quality would be better so we would have hired them if a third painter did not win out (mainly for price, not for expected quality of the job).

Abe responded promptly to my request for a quote and provided suggestions for improvements I hadn't thought of. He also advised me of an additional discount available that was more than the Angie's list coupon. This made all the difference in pricing between him and other painters I contacted. He set a schedule that met my needs and his crew were efficient and skilled. I had a question about how one of the electrical fixtures was re-installed and Abe took responsibility for making sure his crew returned to do what they could and followed up to be sure I was satisfied. He and his crew were thorough, thoroughly professional and did an excellent job! My new condo went from a dingy white, slightly crumbly look to a fresh, colorful, polished look. And Abe was a pleasure to work with!

He responded right away and was easy to work with. Came over when we asked, told us what he would do, gave us some ideas, and sent us an estimate. Said he could paint a section of wall a particular color so we could see a good size area of it before committing to the color, for no extra charge. This was very useful. The painters were punctual and polite. It was an excellent experience.

Abe was a gentleman who was punctual, a clear communicator in word and on paper, and who delivered 2 meticulously painted porches. A pleasure to work with.

My family recently moved into a house that hadn't had any recent updates (read: every room had wallpaper; maybe 30 years old). Prior to moving we wanted to take the wallpaper down and paint. I looked at three different contractors to get our work done, two through Service Magic and Abe Schickel through Angie's List. The other two contractors had lower prices, but Abe's professionalism and competence was clear from the time he first assessed the job. We had a tight time frame we were certain he could meet. During the job his crew was timely, worked long hours, and cleaned up extremely well after themselves. I'm convinced that the quality of the work is far superior to what the other contractors would have provided. I am very satisfied with Abe's work and would not hesitate to recommend him and his crew to others. Some contractors you constantly have to watch the quality and ensure that they show up on time; with Abe I never had to worry about either of these concerns.

Came out when they could, after waiting for windows to go in and weather conditions. 4-5 guys did all the work in 1 day, plus several for a couple hours the second day. This doesn't include the powerwash which was done well in advance. I felt the job was rushed because the end of the season had already come. For the price I paid I had expected more prep work since the trim was in bad shape. Abe was the only one willing to try to restore it. The contract specified only scraping but I didn't realize and after thought that it would be sanded as well. Abe has given me assurances that he'll redo the work if it doesn't last several years but I wish now that I had just gone with replacement of the trim because the price wasn't cheap. He's a considerate man and I'm sure he'll keep his word.

It took a while for them to come out, since they didn't want to put us on the schedule until the windows were in, which was quite late. Once they came Abe gave specific instructions to the painters on the work needed to be done. He was flexible and considerate about special requests. The painters were courteous and pleasant and worked very hard to achieve very good to excellent results on an old house which had not been maintained well. The bedroom, which was in bad shape, came out looking like new. The painters had a lot of patience waiting thru soggy weather for the plastering and priming to dry. They were considerate and explained the reason for the delay and meanwhile went on to other tasks in the house. They went to extra bother to match up paint for me and fixed it to my approval.Likewise for other requests. Overall, the interior painting came out looking very nice.

We were very impressed with Abe and the quote he sent us and would definitely contact him, if we were in the market for interior painting.

Outstanding from start to finish. Arrived when he said he would. Stayed in touch. Accommodated peculiarities of the job. Work was excellent. No stray paint spots, the line between trim and body paint was straight and true. Clean job site at the end of every day.

Abe was very prompt in returning our call but it did take him some time to get over to do the estimate. It was a very reasonable estimate compared to two others (the woodwork needed some repair work). He does not do oil paint (which I would have preferred), just latex. So the woodwork was done in latex. In general, the painting was of good quality. Sometimes the brushmarks were visible and crooked. His workers were in and out in three days and cleaned up very well. They did not get paint on anything. Abe called twice after the job was done to make sure everything was all right and was eager to fix anything that was not. We are waiting on our wallpaper for the kitchen, which he is scheduled to do soon. I was very pleased with his professional organization and customer work communication. I would say if I wanted a really high standard of painting, he might not have taken the job.

Occasional delays in telephone communication but overall am very pleased with the teamwork, good nature and care taken protecting shrubs and bushes, etc., not to mention the outstanding cleanup operation. The neighbors are also very impressed and that speaks loudly.

Quote was promote and easy to understand He was flexible in the start date When they got started, they finished the job in record time. The workers were very well mannered although few of them spoke English. The job site was neat at all times. The quality of the work was adequate. The owner was responsive to questions and concerns.

Great crew, would want them back for further painting. They came on time, cleaned up all the dust from sanding and left the house spotless. It is clear that Abe and his crew take a great deal of pride in their work and took the extra effort to make sure that all the cabinet doors were removed, painted and then replaced. They did a great job on the cabinets, I was very pleased.

Abe is the best! For our large job, he gave us a very fair price and did EXCELLENT work. His team was on time and worked hard the entire time they were here. Every knick and crack in the walls was repaired and sanded as needed, and although we used some bold colors, every line was straight and the paint coated evenly. Abe had great advice about painting the inside of a closet (use semi-gloss so it won't scuff up as much), touched up a scuffed wall in another part of the house at no charge, and came back promptly to address a few very minor issues that cropped up, such as the ONE unsteady line we found where the wall paint got on the trim a bit. Abe is a perfectionist, and so is his crew. We found him on Angie's list, took advantage of his coupon, and were so pleased with the excellent job he did!

Very professional, impressive list of references, nice package of materials sent with estimate. Estimate above does not reflect the 10% Angie's List discount that was offered. We ultimately opted for another company that gave us a very similar estimate but for which we had a personal recommendation, but it was really a toss up and I would have otherwise chosen this company.

While they did the job very quickly and it looks great, they did not clean up well. They left things that would have been ruined outside if it had rained. They didn't put things back in their place. They left an old rug on one of my bushes. And they didn't tell me they'd broken a window. The foreman barely spoke English and felt no reason not to shout in my ears while standing next to me to his fellow workers. The team had no house owner etiquette.

Abe comes across as professional, expert, and very reasonable with his initial visit. His written proposal included all details, plus references and insurance certificate. When we had a problem with damaged screens, Abe took great care to assess the situation, have the repairs done without any debate, and return the screens to us.

Abe was prompt and professional in giving us a quote. His work crew of 2 painters was efficient and did an excellent job, and they left the area clean when done. However, Abe's company is very busy, and we have had trouble scheduling them for a small follow-up job.
