Prompt response to call. Very detailed estimate. Clear about additional cost when we added some extra work. Workers came early, worked hard for a full day, for about seven days. Pleasant. Accommodating. Excellent workmanship. Good clean-up each day and at end of project. Excellent job overall.

Abe gave us a prompt, fully itemized estimate. It was a toss-up between hiring Abe and considering one other contractor. If the other contractor had not been available, we would definitely have hired Abe.

The process was very easy. Abe's estimate was honest and competitive from the start. He broke down the quote into components of house only, and with the deck and fence, as well as same color versus changing colors. The job was performed on time and the job foreman and staff accommodated all requests, were pleasant to be around, and left a neat well-done job. Abe, personally, checked in with me to make sure I was pleased with everything before we settled the bill. To say the least, I was very pleased with Abe Schickel & Co. We're going to be in need of some interior paint work soon. My only call will be to Abe to do the job.

What a pleasure! The men who came were friendly and competent. They worked quickly and neatly. I didn't like the color of paint that I had chosen so part of the job had to be re-done. No problem for these guys. And they didn't even charge me for the change. I had to buy the paint which was of course expected but they were able to make it all work without it taking too much extra time. They did a beautiful job!

We were very pleased! They did a great job preparing the walls - filling in holes, covering knots in the baseboards that had shown through the previous paint job. The dark red and purple walls came out beautifully. Abe was very great about meeting with us quickly and getting the job scheduled right away so that it would be finished before we moved in - we had waited a bit late to set things up, so it was wonderful to find someone who would fit us in and who did such a high quality job, as well.

Everything went very well. There as good communication, and the work was done to high standards....clean and very professional. Abe's crew was meticulous and Abe even followed up quickly to touch up a couple of very minor things. Seemed like a very professional crew---not college kids on a summer job.

It went extremely well. Mr. Schickel was very informative and helpful. The crew was polite and efficient, and the detail work pleased us very much, as well as their attention to the clean-up. We hope to engage the firm for interior painting in the future.

I felt that he was reasonable, and I liked that he was very efficient at getting the job done very fast. He was very easy to deal with, and the job looks good. It is hard for me to judge the work accurately because I don t know how it will hold up.

Their prep work was great. At all times they were clean and respectful. We are very happy with what they did and would hire them again. We heard they were somewhat expensive, but we feel comfortable with the price they gave us.

Mr Schickel is very professional and responsive. We changed our mind about the color after one coat, and he sent out a painter on a Sunday to apply a small patch of our replacement for approval. His entire crew was courteous and very responsible, and fast. The entire job was done in a few days, with no disruption to our household. We would certainly hire this company again for interior or exterior painting. Our next-door neighbor is a retired house painter, he observed the crew and was very impressed with them. He thought they did a great job.

The initial estimate was handled quickly and efficiently. Abe was obviously on the ball. We exchanged a couple of rounds of quick questions and answers by phone and e-mail, then accepted his bid. As part of the process, Abe provides a set of forms to return about what colors/finishes/etc you would like to use. Because we had not decided on interior colors, we did not return the sheets to him. However, when his exterior team was ready to paint, he took the initiative to contact us for the exterior information, rather than waiting for us to get our act together. When the time for work came around, a team of 3-4 painters worked on our house for about 4 days. They were friendly and professional and cleaned up every day before leaving. Throughout the process they were very helpful including help get the windows unstuck and properly replacing the drains that had been mis-assembled years earlier. The house looks great and we would definitely hire Abe again.

This company did my decks in 1993. They were here bright and early. The workers were friendly. The price fell in the range I thought it would be. Actually, I have to say it was even a little less than I thought it would be in the end. In general, I am pretty satisfied with this company. They are one of the few kinds of companies that even do this type of work in this area. No one wants to do shingled work these days or work on older homes. They all want new jobs that pay more.

We played a bunch of phone tag; he was somewhat hard to get hold of, though he did also have an office with receptionist; he/they returned calls in a day or two. By the time I managed to connect with him, I'd decided to hire a different contractor, so I never ended up having him give me an estimate.

Abe was very prompt in coming out to look over the property and gather information so that he could give us an estimate. We received the estimate within a week, which was when he said that we could expect it. He was not the cheapest company but he also was not the most expensive. We chose him because of his references, punctuality, professionalism and pleasant personality. He was in constant contact after we accepted the proposal to give us updates on when he thought (weather permitting) he could get his crew out to power wash and paint the house. He was very happy to work around our vacation schedule and we could not be happier with the job that his crew did. We would not hesitate to hire him again. Very professional and pleasant to work with. We could tell that he really cares about his company's work.

It was great. Abe was on top of all the details including scheduling, orienting his crew to the job, color selection, and being very clear with me about what I needed to do and what to expect during the process. I have two small boys (one has asthma), Abe and his crew worked with me to determine the best order of projects to minimize the effect on them and were very careful about doing their best to contain the paint fumes to the areas they were working on at the time. I can't say how much the effort meant to me. My favorite part was the thorough questionnaire Abe sent me before sending his crew. He covered all the details of the job so there were no surprises for either of us. He also included helpful info about paint. The painters were clean, efficient and were careful about rehanging blinds and putting back anything they moved. I am very happy with end result.

The experience working with Abe Schickels team was great. The job had to work around construction and my families busy schedule. Abe was very professional in juggling his crew to finish my work as well as other contracts. He used the same team at my house to keep my elderly mother feeling comfortable about having workers in the house. His team performed an excellent job, taking time to carefully prepare and paint. Abe's team came back to finish and touch up areas, no problem at all. Its a pleasure to work with such a professional company. He definitely lives up to the Angie's list super service award which is why I hired him. I would rehire and highly recommend him to anyone. Even my contractor was impressed with their work ethic, especially the way they cleaned up after each job.

I called Abe for an estimate and he came promptly on a rainy Saturday morning. We walk through the project together and discussed the paint job. He was very knowledgeable. He sent an e-mail estimate within one week. Approximately two weeks later, he sent a revised quote that was more competitive with other quotes that I had received. He did this on his own without prompting from me. I called him after this and told him I wanted him to do the job. I signed an agreement and mailed it back. I did not hear from him for two weeks. I called and asked when he would get started and he said he would be power washing by the next week. He was true to his word. The house was washed the following week. The paint job started the following week and was completed in 5 days. The team who painted the house was excellent and kept the work site neat. They did minor damage to shrubs and small trees near the house. Overall, I was very satisfied with the work.

A couple of months ago, I had new gutters (approximately 250 feet) and downspouts installed (by another company). As a result, some of the existing, unpainted fascia board was exposed and needed painting; also, about 25% was rotted and needed replacing (done by the gutter company). I needed someone to paint (and in some places scrape and prime) the fascia. Abe of Abe Schickel quickly responded to my call, came to my house and gave me a quote on the spot. He followed it up with a professionally done written proposal. His price was $200 less than another highly-rated Angie's list company. About three weeks later the job was completed by two of his workers in about three hours. (Because of the weather, they actually worked on Saturday in order to be out of the way before another renovation project of ours began on Monday). The completed work was excellent; perfect, in fact. They also cleaned up well. A model company.

We didn't have any work done because our house needs the exterior to be sanded. He recommended we find a painting company that can do that for us. He was very honest and down to earth, we're very disappointed we couldn't use him for this job!

Abe Schickel came over to do the estimate on a day that was convenient for us, not for him; the weather was nasty, and he stayed in town especially to accommodate us. His estimate was dead on, within an hour of the time the job actually required. He again accommodated us by starting the job on a weekend and finishing before our scheduled move-in date. The work was superb. His crew is highly experienced, friendly, and professional. Every juncture of wall and ceiling is clean and sharp, and so are demarcations between wall and trim. They were meticulous about keeping their workspace neat and extremely considerate and polite. Abe came by to supervise, and all went according to plan. When we do more painting in the fall, we will definitely use this company again.

The owner was pleasant and efficient; made a very detailed estimate of what would be done and at what cost. He & crew were always punctual; pleasant, very efficient; worked 8:00-5:30. Work done well and completed on time. Meticulous clean-up every day.
