Sent written request for quote for siding repair and house repainting. Scheduled a meeting for quote with Abe through his office. Initially called Schickel when he was over 15 minutes late to find out he was lost on the way to the house. Gave him directions to the house, and was rewarded with rude statement that I had instructed him to turn in the wrong direction. Upon arrival was informed that they did not do siding repair, despite entry on list in siding category, and written request for quote for same. Went through the motions of getting a painting only quote because I was already on-site. Quote arrived in the mail several days later for more than triple the next highest estimate from other contractors.

Because his crew was rained out from another job, Abe was able to start the next day. The crew was great, did beautiful work and cleaned up after. Finished in 2 days.

They were very professional and punctual. They were very thorough and we were satisfied with the finished product. I would recommend them to others as we have done in the past.

Minor issue in that Abe was not on site for most of the work, and communication with the crew foreman was challenging (his English was rudimentary).

A - Excellent. I was very pleased with the job. Very professional, Abe was always in communications giving advice on what to do before & after painting. He checked the job his crew had done to ensure quality.

Abe was early to our meeting for an estimate. He made sure to get all the information he needed, and asked many questions about exactly what we wanted and when we needed it. After we agreed to proceed, he started when he said he would. He was a bit delayed with completing the job due to rain, which is of course completely out of his control. His crew was respectful and did a great job cleaning up at the end of every day, and locking up. The quality of the job was excellent and he left me the extra materials. He followed up with a call to let me know when they were done and make sure everything was done to our satisfaction. You will pay a premium for Abe, no question about it. But if you can afford him and you do not want to have any hassles with your job, he is definitely worth hiring.

They were quick and efficient and got the job done well. They were able to come quickly and got it done because we had a very short turn around time. In the two different times we had them come they did a great job.

Abe Schickel had a sudden opening and wanted to fit me in. After discussing it on the phone several times we were able to figure out a way to please us both. The crew of 6 men worked well together, talking and joking good heartedly as they tackled their project, a 2 1/2 family house. They arrived every day at 8:00 am and were polite and willing to answer questions. The foreman notified me every time the group was about to start a new phase of painting. They were neat about putting debris in bags. The damage to the garden plants from the ladders was minimal. My house was completely rehabilitated and looks great. Abe was flexible with arranging the details and the job was done thoroughly and efficiently. We are happy with the work.

My experience with them was mostly negative. They were not punctual. The estimate was very high. There was no total price. ($11,500.00)

Abe came out and took a look around. He made some recommendations. They came promptly and got the work done promptly. They did not leave any mess. I have never seen a team prepare a home as well as they did before they started painting.

If I needed only painting, I would have contracted them but I needed other services as well, and I thought it would be more reasonable to hire one company instead of three.

I am extremely happy with this company. Abe responded to my initial phone call within 24 hours and was at my house the next day with an estimate. The work began within 2 days and without a doubt, these are the best painters I have ever used in all my years as a homeowner. They are neat, professional, meticulous--incredible amount of prep work which is the most important aspect of painting. They arrived on time ready to work and hands down are the best painters I have ever used. I will most definitely use them again. After years of mediocre and unprofessional painters I have finally have found a company I trust.

I called Abe to talk about exterior work, to get on his schedule for better weather. He showed up on time as promised to quote the exterior job, but we also discussed the interior stairway, landing and 2 bedrooms that needed wallpaper stripped, and walls, trim and ceilings prepared and painted. Luckily, Abe had an opening and his crew came within a week to do all the interior work. They were prompt, efficient, extremely neat and very skilled. I am very happy with the results. I will certainly call Abe again.

My house's paint job was only 4 years old, but was peeling in some areas. Abe told me that I didn't need to completely repaint the house, but that he and his crew could assess the need and prepare and paint only those areas that needed it. There was a little more than we originally thought, but his painter was very thorough. The weather did not cooperate - heavy rain followed by 95 degree days, but Seamus persevered and finished in a little over a week. He did a very good job and was prompt and neat.

Communication was timely and prompt. Expectations were clearly defined and agreed on. Preparation and cleanup were impeccable. The workers were clean, quiet, and courteous. The finished job is excellent.

They were very quick and did a solid job painting. They were willing to go above the job to make the work better by repainting all of our front doorways. Overall I am happy with my choice of painters. They provided a very good estimate laying out possible costs for different eventualities.

The overall experience was very good. The painters were courteous and arrived promptly at 8:00 each morning and left around 5PM. The job took four days in total.

The painting and staining job went smoothly. During the job, Abe called to tell us some areas of the house needed a touch-up. Even though they were not on the estimate and we hadn't talked about it, Abe said he would touch them up because it was needed. Abe takes pride in his work and the houses he works on. I think that's the best thing I like about him. He treats his projects like they're his own property and does little touch ups or something extra to make the paint job done right. I've used him twice and will call him again for other projects and I won't check elsewhere. I've had my house painted twice over 14 years. The hassle and aggravation factor in dealing w/ painters that don't do a good job is not worth any cost savings, if there are any.

When I explained that we had a very short window of time to prepare our house to go on the market, he came right away, gave me and estimate within a day, and offered to come by within two days. The work was absolutely superbly prepped and painted. The work included patching holes and crack, and the finished painting was just lovely. The workman were quick, tidy, and pleasant. At the end there was an extra bit of work (some nasty plaster under a window from ancient water damage), and they added that and said if we needed anything else to let them know.

Overall, the job was professional from the estimate process to the finish paint job. Abe was a bit late for the estimate but did call to let me know. He is professional in appearance and very knowledgeable. He even noticed a few things that I did not notice. He gave me his cell phone number in case I had any questions. His very detailed estimate along with the company profile, certificate of insurance, reference list, BBB certificate of no complaints, Angie's List Super Service Award and organizational package arrived a few days later. His assistant called to let me know when they were coming out to powerwash, then Abe called a few days prior to the painting being started. The crew arrived early each morning and put in long days. They were courteous, worked hard and cleaned up every night. My main communication was with the head painter who has been with the company for 10 years. He truly seemed interested in making sure I was happy with the job. I requested some extra caulking, and they complied. I was surprised Abe did not check on the job each day but am guessing he felt after 10 years, his head painter was well aware of what was expected. He did let me know, however, that I could call his cell number with any questions or concerns.

He did very well. He did everything according to his contract. He was friendly and he was professional. He also cleaned up after himself well. He started and finished on time. The quality of his work was very good. It was about a year ago.

Abe Schickel did an excellent job. The house looks beautiful and we've gotten many comments about what a great job they did.

From Abe Schickel's initial visit to the prompt receipt of a proposal to the scheduling of the work and then the actual work being done, it all went very well. The company advertises "meticulous preparation" but we found everything to be meticulous - prep, painting, daily clean-up, moving furniture back into place, etc. For five of the six days two painters were working, but a third was added on the sixth day in response to our request that the job be finished within the week. Overall we were extremely pleased! Everything looks great, we highly recommend this company and would definitely use them again.

They couldn't have been better! One suggestion would be to pick out the colors before contacting him as there is very little waiting time before beginning work.

While I was sure he'd do a great job, the cost was simply too high ($5000). We sacrificed, I imagine, a bit of super high-end quality and got it done for under $2k. I'll have to do a little touch up I'm sure, but for $3k savings I think that's a fair trade.
