Abe is a regular guy and his word and work is his bond. Quoted right on and when he started we added a piece and his qauote on that was fair. His people are the best, considerate, clean, like artists and dependable. I usually am a difficult reviewer, this is the best company I have ever used in or out of business.

There were no problems, everything went as planned. The crew was efficient and neat.

The whole experience was pleasant and professional. Abe came when he said and provided an estimate that was exactly what he charged. His team was in the house for 2 days and did a great job protecting the furniture and floors from paint as well as cleaning up when they were done. Their work was great, everything looks brand new. They even fixed a few nicks and scratches (at our request) that were not part of the original contract. I gave Abe an 'A' in all aspects but price, since his quote was slightly higher than others, but in terms of value for money, I believe he is well worth it.

We selected Abe Schickel over other competitors who were also very highly rated on Angies List primarily because we liked his attitude. He was willing to spend plenty of time on the phone discussing details, asking and answering questions, and offering advice. He was very accommodating in scheduling the job, and only a prolonged rainy period interfered with the planned schedule. When the crew accidentally damaged some window screens, Abe showed great "service recovery" skills, instantly offering to do whatever I preferred to fix or replace the screens. The crew was careful with the landscaping and left everything very clean every day. They didn't have a loud radio blaring, and were completely professional at all times. They did an excellent job, and we love the new colors on the house. Great job! Highly recommended! I'll be back when the house needs the next repainting!

Great. Guys were on time, finished in two days, cleaned up after themselves, and were very professional. In their feedback, some members published that they were too expensive. We got 3 quotes from other contractors and they were right on. Given the positive feedback and reputation, it was a no brainer to go with Abe.

There was actually some confusion as to whether a ceiling between two rooms had been completely painted last year. Abe decided to redo it in its entirety and, since we had already paid for it last year, he reduced his original estimate. That's the story. We are completely satisfied!

Abe came by and did a detailed walkthrough of the place, paying special attention to doors, windows, and any other spots where the correct paint wasn't immediately obvious. He asked a lot of questions and did a very thorough analysis. A quote was available within an hour after the analysis. His painters came by at a later date, bought all the paint (all Benjamin Moore, even used Aura at my request), and did their thing. Everything was done very professionally, even with the time pressure. In one room where I wasn't sure about the color, the painters even bought a small amount of paint, painted a sample area, and then asked me for final approval. Cleanup after the job was perfect. I was so happy with the results that I asked Abe to clean and refinish our deck, with similar excellent results.

Abe arrived for an estimate as scheduled. His price was somewhat higher than the other estimate I had, but his company had painted the exterior of my home a few years ago and I was very pleased with their service, so I chose to go with him. His workers showed up on time and completed the job in a very timely and professional manner. There were only a few spots that needed to be retouched and his supervisor arrived the next day and re-spackeled and re-painted the spots.

This is the first time we didn't have to have the paint touched up after a year. He did a great job. I went with a lighter color this time and it looks great. He gave me recommendations on the color. They power washed the home before they started. His price was cheaper than other estimates I received. I would highly recommend him.

Abe responded quickly to my call, gave me some advice on some details, provided the estimate and was available to do the work inside of a week. He estimated three days to complete the job and that is what it took. His workers were courteous and cleaned up very well. They came as scheduled and worked all day. The quality of the work was high and we are very pleased with the results.

I did not contract with this company because of its high price.

Abe Schickel and Co. did a really fantastic job. The estimation was very professional. The price was very reasonable. The guys were very nice to work with and cleaned up very well. They were able to do all the prep and prime work in one day and then the wallpaper was hung on a second day. The whole job was done very quickly which we were happy about. We would definitely use Abe Schickel and Co. again and we plan to sometime next year. Abe Schickel and Co. subcontracts their paper hanging and we found this person to be very nice to work with as well. Definitely recommend this company.

This is the second time I have used Abe Schickel. Their painting is expensive, but worth every penny. They are pros. Abe's estimates about when they will start and how long it will take are on target. The painters do a great job cleaning up after themselves every night before leaving and also at the end of the job. Their prep work is amazing: The walls in our hundred-year old house look brand new.

We decided to hire another company who quoted us a lower price, but Abe's price was still competitive.

His quote is good. I haven't hired yet b/c of the weather, but I will more than likely use him. He was prompt, professional, and helpful in deciding what to do and what not to do.

Most expensive bid we had - but we wanted to make sure we had a company with an eye for detail to help correct many imperfections in craftsmanship and cracks, etc from previous owners of out 5 year old house. Quality of work is outstanding. Two guys came out each day. Anticipated 4 days of work but offered to work very long hours each day - and were able to finish in 3. I also had accidentally selected paint colors from the wrong brand. But they were able to figure out the correct matches without a problem. Only minor issue. A tarp was placed in the coat closet to protect the coats from paint dripping through. Unfortunately, the tarp had paint on it already and it got on a leather jacket. Luckily - after a little work - they were able to get the paint off completely, so there were no issues. Overall though a great experience.

He and his staff were easy to reach, always responded quickly. He came promptly to do an estimate. Very personable, kind man, and again, very reasonable price, and work (I've seen some) is of a very high standard.

I hired Abe Schickel to paint the exterior of my house and stain two attached decks. Abe submitted the best of four proposals after meeting with me and discussing my goals and his recommendations. His crew of four started the job on schedule and continued working until the project was completed. They were prompt and cleaned up nicely. They did excellent work and were very responsive to any questions I asked or requests that I made. Abe was in touch with me daily giving helpful suggestions and confirming that I was satisfied with the progress of the work. Working with Abe and his team was a terrific experience. I am very pleased with the work performed. I have already asked Abe to price a small interior painting job.

Prompt response to making estimate. Mutually agreed on convenient time to do job. Performed job with minimum of inconvenience, cleaning up well when finished. Returned promptly after job finished to be sure that everything was satisfactory.

Things went pretty well. The painting work was of excellent quality, mainly because of good preparation of the old shingles and trim. I was somewhat worried about the paint curing properly because of the dropping temperatures but Mr Schickel reassured me about that, and all seems well. There was some damage to the porch flooring during the power wash (bleaching stains) that were not able to be repaired without replacing the boards. I did allow him to proceed with the water seal. Mr Schickel and I had a lot of difficulty communicating when it came time to decide where the accent color would go, it often seemed like we were speaking different languages though we were both speaking English. However several follow-up visits later ,everything was done to my satisfaction.

Everything went fine - no issues or complaints. Abe's crew was polite and discrete.

We're very pleased with the experience and with the results. Abe was very thorough in his presentation of possible approaches to the project, and we felt well informed as to possible alternatives before the work began. There was good coordination with the carpentry providers and among the various crews that did the different stages of the project. The attention to detail was particularly noticeable. Though the price was slightly higher than those of the other two companies that bid, but we feel we got good value for our money.

Abe showed up on time for his initial consult meeting (in spite of having made the appointment a full 2 weeks before! I was sure he'd forget!). He got us an estimate very quickly, and was able to fit us into the schedule when he said he would. Painters showed up promptly when planned, and worked very diligently (and long hours) until the job was complete. They were very professional, courteous, cleaned up well at the end of each work day, and were careful to cover things that needed covering. The only negative was that they did badly damage a rhododendron plant, but Abe was responsive and willing to knock $ off the price to cover replacement cost. Overall, the best home-improvement experience we've had in a long time!

Contacted Abe and let him know what I needed. He came over and wrote up a work order. Once agreed he scheduled a day for the work to start. The job was not that big so he only needed 2 days. Painters arrived early in the morning 8 a.m and worked until 4 p.m. They were friendly and very hard working and cleaned up after themselves very well. Upon finishing I inspected the work which was excellent, but as usual there was need of some touch up. I asked Abe to hold off on the touch up until a specific date so I could have some other work done in my kitchen. Abe's crew came back for the touch up which took about 4 hours. The final job was excellent, same as before when I used his company last year.

They are painting the entire inside of my house room by room. They clean up after themselves. When I called it took a short time for them to come out and give me an estimate. They are doing a better job than the last company I hired. They have been very professional. Added later date: I am totally satisfied with their work. The cost was significant but I believe I got what I paid for - an excellent job. I have arranged for them to do some exterior painting in the spring.
