Their prices were much higher than what I ended up paying. Although I am certain they would have done a good job, I would not use them at that price.

First Abe came and walked through the house and sent us a very detailed estimate in the mail. We booked him and had to cancel the day of due to a family emergency. He was as understanding as is possible given the circumstances. We rescheduled for the end of the following week. He arrived promptly with his 2 crew members. We discussed changes from the original estimated and then walked through the space and discussed everything in detail including nail holes and chips etc. He didn't nickel & dime us on small additions and really seemed to want to make sure everything would be looking great. The job took 3 full days plus an hour or two for the radiator covers. His crew was very friendly and clearly worked hard and took pride in the job. We will use them again for future painting needs.

It was great, Abe's crew quickly got our house power washed on a Saturday. Abe explained that since our siding is aluminum it will dry quickly, and they can get started on the painting on Monday. The crews came and quickly started to get to work at 8:15 am, and they worked until it started to rain. When it stopped raining the crews always returned, they were very hard working and professional. We are very happy with the fine painting job that Abe and his crew did, it makes our ranch house look more contemporary. Thank you again.

I cannot say enough about this firm. It was a pleasure to have the painters around. They were gentlemanly, courteous, and took pride in their work. We were delighted with everything, and I am sure that the finished job really helped the house to sell quickly. It looked beautiful. The price was exactly as estimated. We had added on a couple of things after the initial estimate, and these too came in at the exact price quoted. There were no unpleasant surprises. We have already recommended Abe to several people, including our realtor, who said he is always looking for good firms to recommend to his clients. We are planning on contacting Abe for work on our own house. It is easy to see why his "grades" on Angie's list are so high.

He later followed up with a great big package of insurance, references, and a quite detailed description of the estimate. They called to follow up that I received this in the mail. He was also quite expensive, but quite professional and personable.

Overall an excellent experience. Fast quotation and reassuring presence. Excellent recommendation of a carpenter to perform essential repairs prior to repainting A little slow to get started, but then an excellent crew. Friendly, the right amount of communication, good expertise, good outcome.

They were good, excellent work. They were a little pricey but it was worth it.

It's important to get prices from more than one contractor and to work with contractors you can trust. Abe Shickel came through to assess exactly what needed to be done in terms of repairs to the walls before painting could be done and gave a price that was below another contractor. All went as expected. I would easily recommend Schikel & Co. to friends.

He was very nice and professional when giving the estimate. He also gave me a suggestion for the installation of recessed lighting in the kitchen.

It was a very thorough and professional job, with Abe overseeing every stage. He began by walking through the place with me before I'd completed the sale, then sent me an estimate and a chart detailing the choices in colors and finishes that I wanted. I could not have the job done while the place was empty, but he and his men worked around my packed boxes and furniture. Before he began, we did a more thorough walk-through, discussing choices and, on his part, giving instructions to his crew. They took about five days to finish, after which he came back when I had some questions about an area that his men had missed and some internet connections that had been disrupted. He made sure that everything was fixed to my satisfaction. The paint job looks beautiful--far and away the best I've ever seen.

Abe was very helpful in explaining our needs. On his first inspection, he identified many pre-existing water problems, and recommended two siding contractors. We hired one of them to replace most of the siding, some of the trim, several window frames and all the decorative shutters. Abe could have just painted , but it would not have lasted more than 3-4 years before the water problems required further prep and painting. This extra work delayed our painting schedule from May into July, then we were in a rush to get it finished. Abe adjusted his schedule and completed the job during the week we were out of town. And his guys were VERY gentle on our foundation plantings. His guys were also very helpful in identifying the proper colors (the previous painters had mislabeled what they left behind, which could have been a big problem.) I would use him again in a heartbeat.

Got an estimate from Abe Schickel for painting the exterior of our house. His price was a little higher than the other two estimates but I was confident they would do a thorough and excellent job. They started by power washing the exterior, cleaning off years of accumulated dirt and grime. A few days later they started scraping for two straight days. They then painted for two days, using a high quality paint. When finished the house looked perfect and I told Abe that his painters did a wonderful job. They cleaned up afterwards also.

Abe was able to provide an estimate for our painting job within 2-3 days. He reviewed each room with us, noting details on the job, pointing out if ceiling/trim needed to be painted. In the home office -- (had been a dining room) he also estimated the cost to remove the wainscotting as well as paint. We accepted his estimate -- and on painting day, Abe arrived with the foreman to review the job in detail again. The team did an excellent job! In the home office (formerly dining room) you would never know there had been wainscotting -- the walls were so smooth. No change to the estimate - -the job was done on time, excellent clean-up, excellent care given to our furnishings. I have already recommended Abe's firm to friends.

As good as it gets. Good communication with Abe from the start, first scheduling the power wash, then to begin the painting. Very experienced work crew, kept area clean, did a fantastic job. I am a very satisfied customer.

He did a great job. He was very professional. He took the time to make sure we used the right color paint and that we would be happy with it. The workers who did the actual painting were very clean and professional. The only downside was that it was hard to reach him by phone at times.

As has been my experience in the past, Abe was able to schedule us quickly, the crew showed up each day on time, the care taken to keep the carpet and furniture clean and dust free was great, and the clean up was perfect. The rooms all look terrific.

Abe was friendly and got back to me right away. He came in and personally did the quote and discussed paint options with me, including low and no voc paint choices. He was able to schedule the work quickly, and on exactly the time line we needed in order to move into our new house. The work was done on time, it looks great and they left the space neat and clean. Abe was really nice. Very professional, very easy to talk to. He sent a formal proposal via mail, but he knew I was in a hurry to get the work done so he also gave me the courtesy of a phone call with the estimate, all broken down the way I had asked him to. I ended up not going with him because his price came in about $1,200 higher than the other contractor I was considering, but based on my experience with him in obtaining the estimate I have no doubt that the quality of his work would have been first rate.

Abe is a consummate professional and a pleasure to work with. He was early to our estimate appointment and spent at least a half-hour walking through the condo (which is not large) with us. He helped us save some money by suggesting that the interiors of the closets and ceilings in the bedrooms didn't need to be painted (and they look fine with new paint everywhere else). The condo has a signficant amount of molding and some unique features; Abe helped us come up with a plan for these. We had the house painted while it was empty before we moved from out-of-state, and we had a tight timeframe between closing and our move. Abe worked around the schedule of floor refinishing we also had done before moving in. He started when he said he would and finished when he said he would. He was accommodating about a delay in providing a deposit and signed contract while we were out of the country. Because we were out of town while the work was going on, we weren't able to see anything until the work was done. However, Abe called us to provide an update on the status and to address several small but important questions -- to make sure that the job was going to be done exactly as we wanted. We were thrilled with the results when we moved in, and everyone who has seen the apartment remarks on the paint job. I will use Abe the next time we paint and I would recommend him to everyone.

The price listed is for a 2 1/2 story house and was before a 5% discount for being an Angie's List member. After the discount, I paid $7220. He was very professional, courteous and easy to work with. His crew is very hard-working. He was punctual at his initial visit and at returning my phone calls. The work was completed in a timely manner, within about 7 days. I was pleased with the final results and they did a good job.
