Abe came to my house on a Tuesday for the estimate. His team started working the next day because i needed the work to be completed asap. The majority of the work was prepping walls which was considerable. Abe's team was professional, very punctual, friendly and did a fantastic job. You cannot tell where the holes in the walls were. The job was finished in the time specified, in fact it was completed a little earlier. I highly recommend Abe and his team, they know what they're doing and the job comes out perfect.

Fine service. Clean, neat on time. Everything is good. They left the house clean and put everything back. Just two guys.

Abe Schickel was very quick to respond and provided a very thorough package with estimate. He was extremely professional and recommended vendors for portions of the project that he wasn't able to do himself. Unfortunately, that meant that I would need to estimate and contract with other vendors (plasterer) to get the one project completed.

I thought he was great! He had the best price of the 3 quotes we received. He started the work right away. When an issue arose completely outside of his control, they came back and re-painted a side of the house at no extra charge.

First of all they had to remove wall paper from 7 rooms. 4 ceilings had to be repaired. All ceilings were painted, trim and walls were painted in 7 rooms. The crew was polite efficient and did an excellent paint job. They put the furinture back in place, and left my home in spotless condition when they were finished. I found Mr. Schinkel's info packet very helpful in selecting the different paint colors and the rule of thumb for the different shines of paint.

Abe had an appointment to meet me at a commercial building to give me a quote on painting the common areas and a couple of the offices. I was at the designated meeting place when he called shortly before the agreed upon time to report that he would be late and would call back with an alternate time in 20-30 minutes. After waiting for 30 minutes I called him back and he said that he does mostly high end residential jobs and that he was very expensive and was not interested in giving me a quote.I wish that he had expressed this before I had gone to the site waiting to meet him. He was aware of the job description since our original discussion when we set up the appointment for a quote. He wasted a good portion of my busy afternoon.

They were excellent. They came late. They didn't come when they said they would come to paint.

We had 20 replacement windows installed. The outside of the house (where the storm windows had been removed) needed to be scraped and painted. The interior window frames and stools needed to be repainted on most of the windows. Five of the windows had unfinished pine on the interior; those needed to be stained to match the existing woodwork in the living room. We are very glad that we hired Abe. He came out quickly to give us an estimate, and his price was very reasonable based on other estimates that we received. We wished that Abe had gotten back to us a little more quickly about scheduling the work, but otherwise we have no complaints. In the end the window installation took a few days longer than expected, and we very much appreciated Abe?s flexibility about his crew?s starting date. Abe came to our house both days to make sure the crew knew what needed to be done and to check in with us to see how it was going. His crew clearly knew their work. Ronnie was here both days, and other team members joined him for a while. They were very respectful of our house and our time, and their work was excellent. Ronnie matched the trim color and the stain color exactly (the new wood windows in the living room match the rest of the room more closely than the original windows!). Ronnie and the other painters worked efficiently and quietly. We asked them to do certain rooms first in order to minimize the impact on our use of the space, and they accommodated our requests. The window installers had done a sloppy job filling the nail holes and left the window frames a mess. We had to pay Abe slightly more than we had anticipated in order to compensate his crew for cleaning up after the window installers. His rates were fair, and his crew sanded and prepped the window frames so cleanly that one can?t even tell the windows were replaced. The painters cleaned up thoroughly, and their work was impeccable. We highly recommend them.

Very well, the painters working for Abe were very clean and very nice overall. They came in the morning and were done by the end of the day. They didn't leave any debris and cleaned pretty well the areas were they worked. The quality of the work was very satisfying, the paint job in the bedroom perfect. I would definitely recommends Abe's company.

Great working with this company. Abe's team was pleasant, polite and not at all disruptive. Abe took care to make sure that they knew what they were doing--his oversight of the job was terrific. We were concerned that we might not get the job finished before the cold weather set in, but these guys worked extremely hard to get the job done in time. The end result is a very crisp, clean paint job. Very impressed.

He came out and spent a good hour with me and what I really appreciated is that he said he was not the guy for the job. He said it was a bigger job than his company was able to do and that was tremendously valuable to me to get that honesty. He would be the first on my list if I decided to seek estimates again.

We did not employ this company because we had another contractor referred to us by close friends and his price was too good to decline. However, in the absence of this bid we would have been very happy to employ Schickel & Co.

I met with Abe Schickel last April to discuss painting my 106 year-old white elephant of house. Abe arrived on-time, closely observed my home and then made some very common-sense suggestions for keeping the price down and pointed out areas where I would need to get some carpentry done prior to painting. His bid was very competitive, so I agreed he would do the work in the fall. Initially, the job started later than I had wanted, but Abe assured me that cooler weather would pose no problem and he was right. His men worked very cleanly, were extremely professional and pleasant. Their work was excellent! Abe kept in touch during the process, kept me updated on what was going on and stayed involved.

Overall experience was great. Abe is extremely professional and sends multiple documents and information (evidence of insurance, tips for choosing colors, etc.) ahead of the job. He came by to give an estimate, and I ended up postponing for a couple of weeks after this. No problem there. The day of the job he and the painter came by to evaluate and confirm what needed to be done. Both were very friendly. They ended up not being able to start that day, but the next day the painter was there with the color-matched paints I selected. The job was relatively small, but did require 3 coats to cover a darker color. The painter did an excellent job and even did some extra cleaning in the rooms. The finished space looks great. Would definitely use again.

Abe came and gave us a quote. He was timely and thorough. His crew came and did the work, thoroughly and politely. He provided a bid, which did not include refinishing and replacement of metal pieces by windows. He talked to us and told us about it. We agreed to increase the price to cover the refinishing of the metal pieces. His crew fixed some seriously deteriorating wood facia and pipes. We are very satisfied with the price (it was comparable to other bids) and with the service. We highly recommend his company.

Abe came over shortly after I contacted him. He studied the work carefully, making suggestions, even recommending against the bad idea of re-painting the deck (which should instead be stained or not treated at all). A proposed contract arrived in the mail four or five days later. His price seemed good -- the more so after I witnessed how much labor was involved. Surprisingly soon -- when weather permitted -- two of his workers came by and worked a long day. They did excellent work. The price reflects a discount ($40 in this case) for Angies List members.

They are really friendly. They did a good job cleaning up after they were done. They were easy to get a hold of and the whole process was really good with them. The only problem was, they used up all the oil in my heating room. I had about half a tank of oil and the two weeks that they were working, I had none last by the end. They wouldn’t turn off my heat until 80 degrees. So that was pretty costly to replace. Their price is about average I guess. They did a really good job. I wouldn’t give them a high grade on professionalism because they wasted all my oil. I would probably use their services again in the future.

Abe from Abe Schickel & Co Inc is very professional. He does excellent work. He shows up on time. He has a great crew. There were no issues at all. Their price was very good. I would use them again in the future.

Excellent work. A bit pricey.

The estimate was about $7800. I really liked meeting the guy and getting the information. He was responsive, punctual and professional. I ended up not using him because I had someone else who I had used some years ago. They came in with a much lower price. I would consider calling him again in the future.

They were fairly expensive. He was a nice guy, he was friendly, and he gave us ideas and suggestions. He sent me a lot of written information and he had the most detailed description of what he was going to do.

Abe was professional, arrived when he said he would, delivered an estimate to my email as promised. In fact, he emailed several documents as well as mailing them, including a cover letter, proposal, extensive reference list, company history, certificate of insurance, BBB certificate, and a job questionnaire. His company certainly seems reputable, and I'm sure the job would be done well. However, for 2 rooms, the estimate was $1600, which is beyond our budget.

Abe was always clear about everything and very responsive. Our neighbor watched them working on the eaves and was very impressed with their skill. Beautiful job.
