Waltham Services

After lots of rain, I found a small dead mouse in my basement. I called Waltham Pest Services because they had been recommended highly. The first guy that came basically placed some poison in my basement. There were no traps placed, which I found odd. He then proceeded to tell me for 1/2 hour about their termite services. After a couple of weeks there was new mouse poop showing up in our basement but no dead mice. I called them back. A new guy came (which is nice, because I did not think the first one had been thorough enough) and I told him how there had been no mice caught, and new poop. He then added a couple of crummy $1 traps, like the ones I could have bought at the ACE hardware store and skipped his expensive services. Thanks. They did no appraisal of where the mice could be coming in, where the could be nesting, just looked at poop on the group and windowsills and asserted they were mice (thanks, I needed to know that). A year later, there is mouse lurking in our basement, and we're calling a different company, rather than renewing their services.

They do a protective service a couple times a year. Anything else you need is included in the cost of the contract. I have needed them for other services and they have been responsive. They show up and seem to do their job well. Their price keeps going up, though.

Representative was courteous and punctual at initial appointment. Agreed that signs of activity that I saw were indeed termites. Showed me additional areas outside my house where they were active. Assured me that the activity was relatively recent and there was little chance the house itself was damaged. Wrote a detailed estimate with a diagram showing what would be done where around my house. Asked my preferences re scheduling the work. Office staff called me an hour later to schedule. On the day work was to be performed, technician called a half hour in advance of his arrival at the appointed time. Technician was courteous and thorough in his work. Technician neatly replaced all soil, bark mulch, gravel that he removed to gain access to the soil. Technician cleaned up debris from drilling concrete and re-cemented drill holes upon completion. When finished, he pointed out particular areas where I should watch out for any further activity. I cannot comment on the price, as it was less than I feared, and given the reputation of this company I did not seek other estimates.

I like that they are very efficient and careful to see if there are children or pets inside the house when they spray.

Service technician performed a pest inspection for a house we were considering buying. They had quoted about $50 dollars on the phone. The service tech was on time and very courteous. He took the time to walk us through the house and point out his findings. He noticed stuff that the original house inspection company overlooked (I would strongly recommend separate home and pest inspections). At the end he said he would not recommend any current treatment since it had been treated about 20 years ago and there were not signs of current activity. He did recommend we get a general inspection contract for about $150/year, but there was not pressure and he just left the information. He ended up not charging us.

They sometimes call before they come but I would prefer a call all of the time. The chemicals they use are the least toxic you can get and still do the job. We also have a pool that can collect the chemicals and they were careful about that situation. They were there when they said they would be.

The exterminators are always punctual and professional. They are careful to let us know where they have sprayed if they are doing any interior spraying. We have been very happy with their work.

They are very good about showing up and providing the necessary checks to give us a little peace of mind regarding any potential issues. They leave the paperwork in the mutually agreed upon spot and they provide a good amount of information to let us know what is going on.

They come by twice a year, and they will come by any time you want for spot treatments. They leave me a receipt in the mailbox to let me know what they have treated the house for.

They found a nest outside of my house and so they came back and did an extra treatment for no charge. I was impressed by that. They have a very personal approach to their work.

THEY WERE FRIENDLY AND THE PRICE WAS RIGHT.

They were very good, they answered all our questions and were prompt. We have a yearly contract with Waltham for the termites.

Great. He did very efficient and thorough work and gave detailed explanations on what I could do.

We purchased their yearly plan for both termite, mouse and insect control. They do a terrific job and come by right away, whenever we call. Their prices are quite reasonable and not that much more than it would have cost me to buy the number of traps and containers they put down from Home Depot.

Performed termite inspection when home inspector identified possible insect damage on garage and porch. Thorough inspection of interior and exterior of home, garage, and porches.

The overall experince was very satisfactory.

EASY TO SCHEDULE. TOOK THE TIME TO INSPECT THE WHOLE PROPERTY. PROVIDED A COMPETITIVE QUOTE IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE INSPECTION BEFORE LEAVING THE SITE.

THEY CAME, AS PROMISED, THE DAY FOLLOWING MY PHONE CALL. THE SERVICE MAN ARRIVED A LITTLE LATER THAN PROMISED, BUT DID APOLOGIZE WHEN HE GOT HERE. HE THEN CHARGED ME LESS THAN HALF WHAT HAD BEEN ESTIMATED OVER THE PHONE. ($125 ESTIMATE, $50 CHARGE).

THIS COMPANY PROVIDED COMPLETE INFORMATION, CAME PROMPTLY FOR ESTIMATE, SCHEDULED WORK CONVENIENTLY (AND CHANGED THE APPOINTMENT ONCE AT MY REQUEST), AND DID NOT ENGAGE IN A ''HARD SELL''. THEY WERE MUCH CHEAPER THAN ANOTHER COMPANY I CONTACTED FOR THE SAME TREATMENT. THE MEN WHO ACTUALLY PERFORMED THE WORK WERE AS CAREFUL AS POSSIBLE.

I THOUGHT IT WAS PRETTY EXPENSIVE FOR JUST ADDRESSING ANTS BUT I CAN CALL ON THEM UNTIL FEBRUARY FOR OTHER ISSUES. IF I DON'T HAVE ANY OTHER, I THINK IT IS EXPENSIVE.

WALTHAM SERVICES IS ALWAYS ON TIME, PROVIDES EXCELLENT SERVICE, AND ALWAYS GOES THE EXTRA STEP TO FIND PROBLEM AREAS.

ORIGINALLY CALLED IN FEB. WHEN WE FOUND EVIDENCE OF TERMITES IN OUR GARAGE. AN INSPECTOR CAME AND WAS UNABLE TO TELL IF THE COLONY WAS STILL ACTIVE DUE TO THE COLD. RECOMMENDED WE CALL AGAIN IN APRIL. HE CAME BACK AND FOUND EVIDENCE OF ACTIVE TERMITES. WENT OVER ALL THE OPTIONS THOROUGHLY AND THE REASONS WHY HE RECOMMENDED THE EXTERNAL SYSTEM. THIS SYSTEM INCLUDES INSTALLATION AND MONTHLY CHECKS DURING THE WARMEST 6 MONTHS, 2 CHECKS DURING THE WINTER. THEY'VE BEEN TWICE AND INSTALLED MORE UNITS AS NEEDED. THE SERVICE MANAGER IS ALWAYS WILLING TO ANSWER QUESTIONS. THE ENTIRE COMPANY IS VERY PROFESSIONAL. NO HIGH PRESSURE SALES OR SCARE TACTICS.

SWITCHED TO THEM THREE YEARS AGO WHEN ANOTHER COMPANY COULDN'T FIX A PROBLEM WE HAD. THEY ARE A GREAT COMPANY, TECHNICIANS ARE ALL POLITE AND HELPFUL, THEY ARRIVE ON TIME, DEPENDING ON WORK, MAY GET 45 DAY WARRANTY.
