The floors look great - it feels like they've been here all along. Tao was very clear about the process and options. All his staff were friendly and helpful. I packed as much stuff as I could, but a lot of stuff needed to be moved from room to room every day. The installers were available to move things to where I wanted when the installation was done.

We wanted a complete makeover of the carpeted flooring on two floors of a house we just purchased, keeping cost low but still adding significantly to the house's character. Got 4 quotes, two from Angie's list, one through a friend who is a contractor, and one from a fiend whose floor we like a lot. We decided to go with Tao: while his price was in the middle (about 10% above the lowest) we were very impressed by his 1. attention to detail (he put significantly more trim into the stairs), 2. artistic eye and his great suggestions visualizing what would work best, 3. desire to work with us to provide the flooring solution thats best for us. We felt Tao was very professional and provided much much more than a basic floor job. Customer satisfaction is very important to Tao and we were comfortable making this big investment using his company. We were delighted with the final result and would strongly recommend Taozen flooring.

We originally contacted Tao to ask about refinishing floors in our current house before selling it. He advised us not to, as it would be too difficult while we were still living in the house. We appreciated his honesty and contacted him again a few months later to refinish and install flooring at our new house. Tao was easy to get hold of and we quickly worked out a schedule that would suit us. The delivery of the new flooring was prompt and easy (they were actually a little early! Nice that I didn't have to sit around waiting for them). Then the installation and finishing went smoothly. We had a couple of minor scheduling delays (like a day or two) over the couple of weeks of the project, one of which was because we needed a contractor to look at another part of the house. We appreciated that Tao was able to arrange his schedule so that we could do that, and it only cost us about a day. The best part--the floors are gleaming and beautiful! We can't wait to show them off. We particularly love that Tao's guys knew how to make the patches look seamless--they took flooring from inside one of the closets so that the grain and finish would match. You'd never know there was a patch. It looks fabulous. Thanks, Tao!

Tao is very busy so it is tough to get a call back but he always answers the phone. He was prompt and work started and ended on schedule but be prepared to deal with a busy schedule. He was *extremely* professional and helpful and the work was excellent. His prices are very competitive and the level of service is high. My only quibble was that the carpet staples on my stair risers were not removed. Highly recommended!

Tao was very professional when he gave me an estimate and he made some good suggestions as to how he would handle certain areas. However, after that initial contact I had to repeatedly tell him who I was and where I lived and what I was having done to jog his memory. I asked him 3 times for a revised estimate and it wasn't until the last day that I received it. He did say that he tried twice to email the estimate and it failed both times - not sure why. The installers were very nice and tried very hard to please us. We were very insistent about where certain pieces of wood were to be placed and they were able to accommodate us. We were told it would take 4 days to install but by the 3rd day with only one installer here it was only half done. On the final day we had 6 people here and it was finished. Overall they did a very good job. The clean up inside was good at the end but would have liked the trash removed daily. And outside where all the debris went during the day the clean up was a little less thorough. Overall we are very happy with the floor. The price was supplied by the supplier.

This was under very stressful conditions. There was a third party involved who had made ridiculous promises to me about deadlines, etc. These were not met and things fell through, so I turned to Taozen, who got things done within the deadline. The floors are beautiful and the price turned out to be under budget. I am very satisfied.

I had a really good experience with this vendor. He was prompt, his quote was good, and the work his company did was excellent. My painters said it was the best job they had ever seen (i.e. baseboards did not have to be touched up, etc.). The floor was hardwood and hadn't been done in over 30 years so it was a big job. He seemed very concerned about the quality of his workmen and called me on several occasions to make sure things were going okay. He was also willing to negotiate the original estimate based on several different factors which I appreciated.

Mr Huang came for an estimate on refinishing the floows in my apartment. He was 30 mminutes late. He is quite an arrogant and unpleaseant lad. Although he promise to email an estimate that evening he did 10 days latter at more that double the price of the two other installers that I called, one of which is doing the job.

Called Tao, met him on a Sunday 2 days later. He provided very useful design advice and provided detailed estimate in writing at the time of the first meeting. Job was done perfectly Saturday thereafter. Excellent workmanship. Uses three coats of polyurethane in constrast to some other cheaper companies listed on Angies list. Is able to work with Bona Kemi (which is one of the best water-based two component coatings and is greener than most others). Tao's team even did some repair work of the old hardwood flooring around a fire place, even though I forgot to tell anyone and other companies had said that the repairwork would be difficult. Price was pretty much in the mid-range of estimates I had obtained, but well worth it.

My husband and I hired Taozen Flooring to install new flooring in our condo in preparation for sale. Although we had done some research before we called Tao we still learned a lot from him. Tao was attentive and courteous on the phone when I called requesting a quote and offered to come to our home to give us a free estimate. He showed up right on time and promptly took measurements and examined the floors. His quote was professionally typed up and printed out by the end of the meeting and included figures for pulling up our old carpet and padding, disposal, preparing the sub-floor, trim for transitional areas, Armstrong flooring and labor. I told him about our budget constraints and he made sure he gave me a range of options to consider. He discussed the pros and cons of installing a laminate floor which we were considering at the time. He also outlined the benefits of using engineered hard wood and other kinds of wood flooring. He gave me all this information with no indication that we would choose to go with his company. In the end, we chose to go with the engineered hardwood flooring. Boy, am I glad we did! The Taozen crew delivered the flooring to our home a few days before installation. On installation day, they showed up promptly and started pulling up the carpet and laying down the floors. Installation was completed before 5pm the following day. The crew was respectful and worked quickly with minimal disruption. After installation, they cleaned up the area and hauled away the debris. About a week after the installation, I called Tao because one of the pieces appeared to warp by the bathroom door. I called Tao in a panic thinking that the floors were moisture damaged. Turned out it was a smidgen too short as it was in an awkward corner by the wall. Tao showed up as promised and had his crew fix the problem immediately. He also showed us how to care for the floor and recommended a couple of cleaning products for the wood. What can I say? We sold our unit in one week at 96 percent of our asking price. The buyers said the floors cinched the deal for them and the floors have remained picture perfect as we wait to close. The overall experience was great and I would choose Taozen Flooring again in a heartbeat.

UPDATE 5.7.12 - My floors after two years, even in high traffic areas, still look fantastic. Just had to say it. Still shiny and bright. And although I've finally spilled some liquids on these prefinished strips (wine and milk), didn't seem to stain or have any long-term damage. And people still comment about how beautiful the floors are even after all this time. And no off-gassing! (original post) Money was a big issue for me and I got quotes from many sources, from new flooring to prefinished woods; also went to Lumber Liquidators and did online research. I chose Taozen because of both his very fair price, and his manner. I also wanted to do business locally. This project went extremely well, overall. I was on the fence about two different brands of flooring - what TZF carried which was Bruce/Armstrong and a Shaw's line from a local store because I was trying to color match pine treads on stairs nearby. TZF was willing to find the Shaws and quoted me a price that was only slightly higher than the local store. But I chose, for both expediency and savings, to go with Bruce. The man who installed did the job in three days (450 sq ft) - and I will say (and I'm finicky about details) he did a super-expert job of cutting and fitting the wood around door jambs, etc. I did have to make a point to have him leave the extra wood, since I'd paid for it already, though...so I recommend you do the same. You'll want those extra bits someday. The flooring is so beautiful. I do notice that some sections of plank have imperfections in the surface (dust bumps) but most do not and it's a very minor, almost non-existent issue. I have some concerns about spilling things on pre-finished wood, since there's nothing between the planks to prevent seepage but this hasn't been tested yet. No wine, juice, coffee etc spilled yet, by some miracle. At first I noticed that some of the ends seemed to rise a little...since the floor imperfections aren't sanded out and there's no coating over the whole thing like a polyurethaned floor. Tao was very responsive to my concerns. But it turns out that the wood's relaxed and it all lays fine now, three weeks later. Overall, I found it very easy to work with Tao and his flooring guys. The price was fair, although I found Bruce wood at Home Depot the next week at the same low price. Was it the same line of Bruce flooring I had bought or Bruce's budget line for the Home Depot DIY consumer? I'm not sure. Now the two guys that put in the wood trim, on the other hand, cracked some of the planks when they were cutting and tried to fill in the cracked molding with white caulk. I told them to fix the one I saw, while they were there, and they did. A day or two later, I found another spot where they tried to cut a corner. I did NOT mention this to Tao but I'm mentioning here so that consumers will just watch for such things. Tao likes the job done right and if I'd gone back to him about this, I'm sure he would have corrected it. I just didn't have the energy to deal. I would definitely recommend him and he carries a beautiful line of bamboo flooring, too.

Tao is the consummate professional. He is very knowledgeable as well as responsive, accommodating and punctual. He was always available to answer questions. He provided us with choices for the flooring and helped us understand the process. He was able to schedule the installation quickly. Our floors came out very nicely.

We selected Taozen due to their good Angie's List reviews, competitive prices and schedule flexibility - they were one of the few companies willing to install our flooring on short notice right before the New Year. The crew was very professional, polite, got the job done in one day and did a good job of leaving the work area clean when finished. The quality of the work is very good and we're very happy with the job they did. Just one tiny issue - we ended up having to purchase the materials ourselves the day before the crew showed up since Taozen's distributor did not have them in stock, but considering the short notice for the job and the fact that our flooring was finished ahead of schedule, it was just a minor inconvenience. We would gladly use Taozen again and would definitely recommend them.

I called Taozen for an estimate. I had a bedroom with wall to wall carpet and assumed the hardwood floor underneath would be in bad shape. Taozen pulled the carpet up and found the floor in perfect condition. Taozen was honest and told me I did not need any work done and he saved me money. A honest professional--will use next time I need a job done for sure!

The owner of the company, Tao, immediately came out to give us a quote. He provided us with various choices for the flooring, and helped us understand the process. He was able to schedule the installation quickly. The installers came when expected and worked non-stop. They did their best to keep the sawdust to a minimum which is really impossible. They did a great job on the floors. The only suggestion that we have is for Tao to tell homeowners to move everything out of a room that is having floors put in. We didn't know that we needed to take hanging clothes out of the closets, etc. I guess we should have figured that out, but we had to scramble to find spots to put all of our clothing when the installers arrived. Overall I was very happy with the work that this company provided and I would recommend them to anyone looking to have floors put in.

Taozen Flooring Co is absolutely fantastic! From the moment we met Tao, the owner of the business, to the very last minute when his skilled and considerate crew were carefully attending to every last detail, we couldn't have been more satisfied. Taozen was professional, knowledgeable, considerate of our needs and concerns, flexible, and truly outstanding at their craft. In the early stages, Tao came to our house, walked us through our options, and helped us to understand the process, pricing, etc. His crew delivered the boxes of wood to our house a week ahead of installation (wood needs to acclimate for 3-5 days). They then came the next week to begin the installation. We had a quite large job, of over 900 square feet, and we were impressed with the way that the crew treated every inch with equal importance and care. They skillfully pulled up our baseboards, laid the floor under them, and then put the baseboards back on. The floor is seamless, and looks just wonderful. They were excellent about cleaning up at the end of each day and at the end of the job and Tao and his crew were flexible and generous in helping us to move our large furniture. The crew were professional and friendly and they worked tirelessly for the 5 days they were here. In the end, our house transformed from looking as if a relic of the '70s, to a beautiful, elegant, and inviting home. We can't wait to entertain our family and friends! We would recommend Taozen wholeheartedly and unequivocally (we have already recommended him to family), and when we have more flooring work in the future we will absolutely be calling on their services. We are picky people, caring about detail and nuance, and thus we expected the very highest caliber of workmanship.
