I approached getting new hardwood floors with some trepidation. As a woman living alone and a natural DIY-er, I tend to be uncomfortable with strange workers in my home. It didn't help that one of my friends recently had a hardwood flooring nightmare (he didn't listen to my advice about using Angie's List). However, I was very comfortable with Tao and his team. They were respectful, courteous, and knowledgeable. They installed a quality product and did a good job. One of his men spent a good hour cutting two planks to perfectly fit around my fireplace. It was a really difficult cut, but he did it well. His team was very neat and vacuumed regularly. They were also nice enough to help me move some of my things and to cut a few pieces of wood for me as a favor. There was a bit of a language barrier but I felt like I could communicate with them well enough. I was very happy with Taozen flooring and I would go with them again.

Tao was extremely professional and responsive. We only had a limited window of time to do the job, after closing on the house and before the movers showed up. Tao was able to squeeze us in to his schedule and performed the work excellently. Nothing but good things to say.

Very pleased with their work quality, professionalism, and promptness of response. Tao and his team did a great job and gave various great advises. At the onset of the project, Tao made sure the floor repatching by another contractor would be done correctly. The communications with the team is easy and timely. His pricing is very good. And Tao tried very hard to make sure every customer is happy and the need, however special it is, will be met. Highly recommended.

I emailed Taozen one night after reading their reviews. They seemed to be a good outfit and were very highly rated. About two hours after emailing them Tao called me and set up an appointment to meet and take a look at my floors. He printed out an estimate right there and then. The price seemed reasonable (2975.00) so I decided to go with him. He worked around my schedule since I was also painting and trying to square away other projects within the house before doing the floors. He said it would take 4 days to complete the job. They started on Friday, sanded down everything with the rough stuff, came back Saturday, sanded all day and then put some sealer down. They took Sunday off, came back Monday filled all the gaps, cracks, nail holes (to my delight and surprise) and a second coat. Came back Tuesday to do the final coat (3 coats in all). The floors look 100 times better now. Tao warned me in advance that some of the stains in the floor were from the previous owner's pets and that they would not come out. He was right, but they still look amazing. These guys did a great job and I recommend them to anyone. Just go with Tao.

They were very helpful in explaining the pros and cons to water based vs oil based, answered a ton of questions very patiently. Owner came over to make sure I was happy with the job afterwards. They understood my need to get the job done quickly (to put house on the market) and ended up finishing earlier than planned. My only concern was when a different crew showed up on day #2, but it turned out fine. They went above and beyond, as I had a door that was scratching a floor (one that they were not sanding) and they removed the door, took about 3 cm off the bottom so it wouldn't scratch the floor anymore, and put a light coat of poly on the floor to make the scratches less visible. This was done free of charge.

Taozen refinished the hardwood floors in our house last month. They exceeded our expectations in every single aspect. Their price was competitive, but based on their reviews, I wasn't going to go with anyone else. I've refinished a couple floors in the past, so I was thinking about saving some money and doing the work myself. Tao walked me through what I'd spend in equipment rentals and materials, and was able to convince me that it just wasn't worth it to me. I'm SO glad he did. His work is literally flawless. Tao and his team are AWESOME. Very prompt right from the start, he was the first to get back to us to schedule a time for a quote. Tao is extremely professional - he came out and gave us an estimate, and went back to his truck to print everything out. We were in the process of closing on our condo so weren't 100% on our closing date. Tao was very flexible, and assured us his team would be ready to go whenever we were. We closed on a Friday, and that afternoon he was there delivering our wood to acclimate. His team started the job early that next week, and the floors were ready by the time we moved in on the following Friday. Everything was sparkling and perfect. The new hardwoods were an exact match to the pre-existing floors. Upon the move, a few areas got a little scratched (totally our fault). We called Tao for suggestions and he actually sent 3 of his guys out (at no cost) to fix the few areas, on a Sunday morning! We will only use Tao for any flooring needs in the future, Taozen Flooring is an excellent company.

I contacted Taozen about installing hardwood floors in a new home prior to our move-in date. As I was living across country there were additional logistical complications. Tao spent time with me on the phone discussing the possibilities, as well as went out of his way to accommodate times we could me at the house -- when I was in town for a visit prior to our closing. We had a very tight time frame between the time we closed and the time we needed to be in the house and this happened to be the week before Christmas. Tao worked diligently to get materials ordered, met with us after closing in order to have the wood delivered on the same day, and his guys began work that day removing the existing carpet. The guys did a good job installing, and Tao was responsive to questions. They cleaned up nicely when they were done, including taking care of all the carpet/pad scraps, and sweeping/dust mopping. The job was finished on time and turned out great.

Tao picked up the phone directly on a Thursday afternoon and came to meet me, on my schedule, on the next Saturday morning. He gave me a prompt, onsite estimate. There was only one week when I could have this project done -- a week about 2 weeks from the estimate when my wife and kids were on vacation. Tao worked around my schedule and his guys met me on the Monday morning I needed to start job. I left him the key and he told me its pretty common for people to do this (so that the workers can keep applying coats). It took 5 days out of the house, but when I came back the floors looked great. There was very little dust/mess. THe only thing I had to do was move all of the furniture back, and deal with a slight smell for a few days after it was complete. The project went exactly as I needed it to. If anyone is considering a refinishing job, I recommend having tao look at the entire floor. My only disappointment was finding a few spots where the floor was damaged, and the refinishing did not help. Tao did not identify those points before the refinishing but he did come to walk through the house with me, and explained why they were not perfect. But I can't really blame him for the fact that my old floors are damaged. I would easily recommend Tao though. Besides my own furniture moving, it was far easier than I expected, and now my floors look great.

I contacted Tao and left a VM. He responded within 24hrs. He was very informative and offered to come on-site and show various samples. Tao showed up few days later with samples. After a quick inspection and after taking certain measurements, he showed me various hardwood options. He exactly knew what would look great for the space and also what can be within my price range too. Measured, ordered the wood and then installed it. All in 1 week. The guys left the wood at my place 3 days before installation so that it gets acclimated to the conditions. Tao scheduled a date and time for installation. He was very flexible with the times and also agreed to reschedule the installation as I was getting a wall taken down. The guy is hardworking and honest. Since we were working with some tight time-lines, once he had to drop off the samples at my place at 9PM in the night and he did. After ripping the carpet off, the guys noticed that the laminate was 1/2 inch higher than the carpet subfloor. Tao agreed to install a ply sub-floor and still finish on time. He charged me only for the material. I was also replacing my second floor carpet. I had another carpet company lined up for that. They were charging me for taking the old carpet out, so I asked Tao if his guys can do it for me. Guess what, he obliged and the carpet on the 2nd floor was gone for free. The quality of work is top notch I must say. I was watching the guys in action and they were very picky. The floors look beautiful. Bottom line, these guys are true professionals. Tao is very accommodating and very reasonable. For him the customer always comes first. I would definitely recommend them anytime.

The problem with the floors was that they were old, and squeaky everywhere. We had to remove the existing pine, add a new subfloor and relay new white oak. The problems have been resolved, and the floors look great!

Overall, this project went exceptionally well. I would not hesitate to recommend Tao, and his crew at Taozen Flooring. Quoting: I had actually contacted Tao for a quote last year. He provided the quote, but I did not have the work done at that point due to other issues with my house, and my job. I recently contacted him again when I was ready to do the floors. Tao showed up on time again, and was very friendly, and knowledgeable. Because it had been over a year since we last spoke, we reviewed what I wanted to have done. We discussed a few options, and Tao made some suggestions, for both installation/durability and for aesthetic appeal. Tao was very quick with providing another more current quote. His price had gone up slightly since the original quote but I felt was still reasonable (figuring materials and labor have probably gone up a bit since then due to inflation, etc). Tao was still slightly lower than my quote from company B, and significantly lower than my quote from company C. Regardless, Tao seemed to be the most knowledgeable, and cared about providing a good service and experience for me. Preparation: Tao discussed what I needed to do in order to prepare for the flooring work. This included me finishing up a few trim pieces that had been on my "to-do" list for a while, as well as removing a built-in desk, moving all my furniture out to the garage, and arranging other living arrangements for a few days ( I would not be able to get into my house for a few days due to the sanding and allowing the polyurethane to dry). I was initially concerned that all of the other flooring companies said that the existing flooring that I was trying to match was white oak, but that Tao said it was red oak. Tao made another trip out to my house to address my concerns and do a chemical test to validate that it was indeed red oak as he originally identified. We were able to agree upon a start date which was only a few days out. I provided the initial deposit to buy the materials, and the materials showed up the next day as promised. Work: Tao's crew showed up when they were supposed to and got right to work. They were also very friendly, knowledgeable, and cared about the quality of their work. The crew worked very quickly, kept the work area well organized, and cleaned up very well at the end of each workday. Also, he has his own crew, and did not sub-out any of the work. Total installation time, including finishing, was 5 days, as promised. After the job was done, Tao came back on a Sunday to do a walk-through with me to make sure everything was done to my satisfaction. I have to say that the floors looked fantastic. The installation and finishing was top notch. The clean up was great - hardly any dust anywhere. I actually mentioned to him that the place looked cleaner than I normally keep it when I'm living here. Upon completion of the walk-through, I gave Tao the balance of the money for the completion of the job. Simple. Clean. Done. I would not hesitate to recommend Taozen Flooring to anyone looking to have flooring installed.

Tao is amazing. The floors are beautiful, well done and the stairs were sanded to blend perfectly with the new and old flooring. Tao was on time for our first appointment, kept in touch throughout and helped us overcome a few obstacles along the way. His staff also worked hard to get the floors done so we can move in on time as i am heavily heavily pregnant. The craftsmanship and attention to detail is top notch.

Tao came on time for the estimate. He was very thorough and knowledgeable about the entire process - from demolition to installment to finish work. He had an excellent variety of samples and provided good advice on quality and materials. He followed up promptly with and estimate via e-mail and provided all the information we needed. The project was well executed from start to finish.

I wanted to have hardwoods installed in a recently purchased townhome before I moved in. I needed the hardwoods to match those in the dining room (red oak). I had three vendors come out for estimates. I chose Taozen due to Tao's professionalism (very quick and efficient with his assessment of the job) and the very competitive pricing. I was thrilled with the result. The newly installed hardwoods are beautiful and perfectly match those in the dining room. In addition, my home was left very clean. Tao was very easy to contact and was very responsive. He was a few days over his estimated time to completion of the job and I had to call him to ensure that things were on track at one point. But it was all worth it for the amazing floors I now have. I would highly recommend him.

One word: Awesome! Tao was right on schedule, worked over the weekend, and finished exactly on budget. His communication was excellent and called me several times throughout the work. I would highly recommend Tao again to anyone! The floors came out beautifully with minimal dust in the home. I wish I could upload a photo to show how amazing the floors came out.

Tao was responsive, helpful, flexible. He probably lost a little money due to objections we had to the original flooring delivered. He never appeared to have a qualm. He started when scheduled and took the planned amount of time. He honored this Angie's List 10% off coupon. Some of the installers were much better than others, at least one was almost a joke. But the bulk of the work was done by workers who cared and took extra time when asked. Yes we would use him again, though I cannot imagine for what. We have recommended him already to friends (who were not as happy with the results as we were).

I am extremely pleased with the work of Tao and his team. The work is very high quality, and Tao was responsive to my changes and working around the schedule of my general contractor. The original estimate was accurate, and Tao explained in detail when any additional materials were needed (in this case, it was due to the condition of the concrete subfloor). The most value-added suggestion that Tao made was to keep an existing 3x6 section of herringbone-patterned hardwood flooring in the entryway. I initially planned to remove it and run the new hardwood flooring through this section, but Tao suggested that it would be better to sand and stain the section to match the color of the new flooring. This was a great suggestion and it looks fantastic. I would certainly recommend Taozen Flooring to anyone looking for a professional company that puts the interests of the customer first.

You have to be persistent with these guys, as they don't always answer their emails or calls promptly. However, they are very knowledgeable, and the head guy even recommended a cheaper option than what I had originally thought, based on our specific situation. Andy, who does the coordinating of the jobs, even helped out a few months later by coming by and fixing a few scratches we'd made, as well as some bubbles in the polyurethane, without charging anything. Good company to work with.

I hired a different company because I liked their technical approach better.

Taozen Flooring Co. was 1 of 4 companies I contacted to install flooring. An appointment for an estimate was set up on a SUNDAY, which worked well for me. Tao brought samples, measured the areas involved and discussed plans and costs with me. I chose them because the estimate was good, they offered a selection of prestained finishes and Tao had good customer service skills. The wood as delivered a week before the work would begin so it could acclimate to the temperature; the delivery was right on time, too. The installation crew were delayed slightly by traffic but called to inform me. They were constantly working the 2 days they were here and dicussed a couple of problems with the existing floor. The solutions were discussed with me (and reiterated by Tao )and worked out fabulously! After the floors were done the area was cleaned and vacuumed,. the strips of carpeting were rolled and secured and left on the porch. I would dispose of them myself in order to save money. Lastly, the steps were finished and two more coats were applied in the 2 following weeks. the men worked quickly and did a great job! They had me inspect everything to my satisfaction and Tao also made sure I was happy. I couldn't have been more pleased with the reusults: the floors and steps looked fantastic and every aspect of the job was overseen by Tao Thank you for making my home beautiful.

We were immediately impressed by Tao's approach, from the moment he came to do the estimates. One big bonus was that he didn't require us to get plumbers to come out to remove the radiators beforehand, a potentially expensive requirement we received from another potential installer. The other installer also had said that he would only cut up the existing carpet into the small 3X3 rolls, which we would have to deposit in the trash in weekly installments (over twelve weeks?); Tao included carpet removal as part of the job without my even mentioning it. Tao and I had also discussed him giving me an estimate to refinish two wood thresholds that were not being replaced. In the course of the work he went and refinished them, at no charge. The prices he charged for all of this were still less than our other estimate. The workers were efficient and professional. The finished product is beautiful. Everyone who has come by has been stuck by the beauty of the floors -- even those who never saw what was there before.
