Overall, the whole experience was great. I knew I wanted to use prefinished oak for my hardwood. So I called Tao who was very responsive. I called him on a Wednesday to get an estimate and met with him the next day. I thought his estimate was fair and we had the hardwood delivered by Friday. On Monday the installers showed up on time, they removed the carpet in both rooms, and installed the hardwood all in one day! They were efficient, prompt, clean, and my hardwood floors look amazing! I would definitely use them again!

He was excellent and I would highly recommend him. He was prompt and gave me accurate quotes. His team was excellent, courteous and cleaned up after themselves. All of their additional recommendations have been great. They just went above and beyond all over the place.

Excellent - would work with again - very responsive - able to meet tight schedule. Great work and quality. Called these guys up asking to sand and finish hardwood floors in our new house. Had a tight schedule because we were moving in in 2 weeks, and had decided late to redo the floors. Came to give a quote on a Sunday I believe. These guys were amazing, despite tight schedule they were able to fit us in. Did all the floors in three coats. Paid attention to every detail, and our floors look great. Very happy with results and would go to these guys for floors anytime.

Tao did an outstanding job. We were living overseas and hired him based mainly on Angie's List reviews and his competitive estimate. Although the job was completed a couple days later than expected (due to slow drying of the urethane because of several rainy days), Tao's team completed the work as quickly as possible and the results are remarkable. Stains and scratches left by the previous owners are gone and the floors look great. Tao was professional and punctual from start to finish. Excellent communication and professionalism, which is a rare quality among contractors we've encountered. Everyone that has seen the floors has remarked on how good they look. Thanks Tao!!!

The installation was excellent and the craftmanship excellent. My only worry was that the owners work from their cell phones and it is somewhat difficult to communicate clearly this way. Bur it all worked out very well in the end.

I would highly recommend Tao and his team. They went above and beyond the call of duty - from answering all of our silly questions to creating samples on a Sunday and hand-delivering them to our house. Very professional from start to finish.

Everything went very smoothly and the work was excellent. I would especially highlight the quality of communication, reliability, and cleanliness. We were on a tight schedule -- the work needed to begin on a particular day and be done promptly. Tao worked with us, committed to the dates, and the workers were there at 9 am on the appointed day, and worked steadily to get the work done on schedule. Tao was also very responsive to emails and showed up exactly when he said he would for estimates, measurements, etc. In the world of home repair that kind of respect for the customer's time is all too rare. We were also very impressed with how clean the house was when the job was done. They'd said it would be dustless, and that they would seal off rooms, closets and cupboards. I was skeptical, but it was true -- except for one storage closet that couldn't be fully sealed off, we didn't need to do any dusting or extra cleanup after the job was done.

Came 40 mins late for estimate meeting. After couple of calls, got my incomplete quote two weeks after. Complained about the house during the explaination of delayed response.

Tao and his team were great. We got high quality floors at a great price. You can't even see the seams in most of the transitions! Where Tao and his team couldn't match the seams, they put in beautiful connecting pieces. We were eager for the floors to be completed in less than a week....the project took only a few extra days (under 2 weeks total!), but Tao was very professional and communicated with us whenever there was a delay. We are incredibly happy with our floors! We have received compliments on the quality of the work, even from our general contractor. Tao and his team also left our house very clean -- minimal dust for such a big job.

From the beginning Tao was responsive, accurate and a pleasure to deal with. We worked on a tight schedule, Tao agreed to the schedule, and stuck with it, without sacrificing the quality of the work. The floors look beautiful now, and I will for sure recommend Tao to other friends. In addition to high levels of workmanship, we were also impressed with Tao's professionalism. For example, when a realtor asked to step on the floors before it was time, Tao tactfully handled the situation and protected the floors (as well as our relationship with the realtor).

I have nothing but positive things to say about Taozen. Tao was a straight shooter from the beginning. He gave a quote that I found reasonable and was understanding of my time crunch from closing to when furniture was going to be delivered. The first day I showed up and saw the mess that was made from sanding the floor. There was dust EVERYWHERE. To meet my time crunch the crew returned on Labor day to apply the stain to give it enough time to dry before the furniture delivery. When i returned after the job was done, the floors looked AMAZING. The dust and I mean all of it was cleaned up. Even where stain had gotten on the white baseboards was touched up and looks GREAT. I have already received numerous compliments even from a gentleman who used to do flooring and he was amazed at how great the floors looked. Needless to say, I would highly recommend Taozen flooring and would use them again without batting an eye.

Based on Tao's information and recommendation, I decided to go with new carpeting instead of trying to sand and refinish the floor. I give Tao and his company an A for effort and honesty and would certainly call him again were I to need work on our other hardwood floors.

After having read the reviews here on Angie's List, I called this company looking for an estimate and a quote. I was shocked when the proprietor told me that on the date I would like he 'might' be able to make an appointment, but he wasn't sure because he might have to take someone to the airport. Not professional at all! Then, I explained I was looking to have one large-ish room done. He seemed completely taken aback that it was not more and said, literally, that it was not worth his time to just do one room. Again, I was shocked. If the business only wants to do large projects and/or multiple rooms, they should list that and not make customers like me feel like jerks for 'bothering' them to ask for an estimate or work to be done on a room. He did refer me to someone else, so that was fine, but overall, I would NEVER recommend this company to someone who wasn't doing a big huge project and had lots of money to spend.

My husband and I cannot recommend highly enough Taozen Flooring for the quality of work they just completed for us and for their excellent customer service. Before we moved into our "new" 1930s home, Tao provided us with an estimate for the work to be completed. Overall, Tao's estimate was reasonable -- about the middle of the range compared to other two or three estimates we had received. Our home has original hardwood floors as well as floors which had been covered with broadloom over time; we wanted Tao to refinish the existing hardwood floors and remove the broadloom to expose and refinish the hardwood underneath. Tao emphasized up front the fact that once the broadloom was removed, the estimate might increase depending on the condition of the floors. It turns out that the master bedroom floor had been damaged beyond repair, and needed replacing, and another bedroom floor was damaged but could be salvaged with several patches. The estimate increased, as predicted, but was reasonable. When my husband and I couldn't readily select a stain colour, Tao returned with more samples for us to choose from. We found the experience of working with Tao to be easy; he returned our calls quickly when we had questions and was very pleasant to do business with. The best part, naturally, is that the floors are absolutely stunning. Impeccable...far exceeding our expectations.

When I began, I really wasn't sure what finish I wanted. Tao provided great advice. He seems to have a designer's eye, and was very professional. He walked me through my options and made me feel comfortable with my choice. The job was fast, on schedule, and no hassles. Taozen also did an emergency fix on a problem I had at my prior home with very little lead time. Taozen is very reliable and professional.

bought an old house. had an old rug in one room that we thought had plywood under it. realized after we bought house that the rug would have to go sooner rather than later. started pulling it up and found a very pretty fir floor. call taozen for estimate. came very quickly and talked about what he would do. there was good sized oil stain on the fir floor. it was explained to me that it was unlikely that they could get rid of all of it but they would do their best. stain is still there, much, much smaller and quite a bit less noticeable. very important that they were able to work within the very short timetable we had before our furniture was moved in. entire process went very well, from estimate, to work, to payment. i was kept well-informed about what was being done when. i would highly recommend Taozen if you are considering having a floor refinished.

Taozen did an excellent job refinishing our hardwood floors. They were very professional, listened to what we wanted, and gave us suggestions. He clearly has a lot of knowledge and experience. They covered up the vents and the countertops, to minimize the dust, etc. our floors look better now than when they were new! As a bonus, he even gave us advice on replacing the laminate flooring in the basement: the brand of flooring to use, and the company to use to buy and install it. We would use Taozen again if we needed to install or refinish wood floors in the future.

This was a rather large job, and Tao's quote was quite reasonable. On our main level, you cannot tell the difference between our 28 yr old existing floors and the new floors that were installed. They sanded and put on 3 coats of poly, and it came out terrific. They also did a great job on the prefinished floors on our upper level. There were a couple of minor things I noticed after they were finished, and Tao came right back to touch up. He always answered the phone everytime I called throughout the process, and was responsive and answered any and all questions I threw at him. While doing the upper level hallway, they removed the spindles...at the end of the job one was missing. After they removed them, I sanded and painted them in my garage. Although I searched everywhere and could not find it, I could not blame Tao's guys because it was more likely I misplaced it than them. When Tao found out one was missing, he offered to replace all the spindles free of charge since finding a matching one was impossible. I told him I couldn't let him do that since there was still a chance that I would find it. (we just moved here and the place is still being unpacked, and there is stuff everywhere!). He left, but called me a half hour later saying he didn't feel right about the missing spindle, and that he was going to send me a check for $100. I already paid him in full, and he didn't have to do that. A new spindle cost about $3. Even if I replaced all 20 of them, it would cost me $60. I thought he went above and beyond to satisfy, even though I fully acknowledged that I could have been the one to lose it. Bottom line, I am part of the vast majority that would highly recommend him and his crew.

When I called for an estimate, they were able to meet me at my house within the hour. I told them we were on a tight budget and didn't want to spend too much, so originally I just wanted to have the 2nd floor and stairs done, since they were in worse condition. It turns out, however, that the estimate was a lot lower than I expected and even included the 1st floor! I also had time constraints due to an upcoming vacation, so they were able to complete the work before then. I was told 4 or 5 days, and they did it in 4. The floors came out great! They look brand new! I am extremely satisfied with their work and how I was treated.

When I inquired about sanding and refinishing the entire floor he did not seem at all interested and tried to talk me out of that by saying that you cannot do a good job refinishing prefinished hardwood. Also, he told me that we would need to move all our furniture out by hiring a pod to be brought to our driveway. When I questioned why he does not want to refinish the floor, he told me that they do installations. I said that on Angie's List they are listed as "refinishing" and he told me that should be removed. Overall, I had a pretty bad experience and wondered what I should do. I ended up calling another company on Angie's List also highly recommended by someone who had used that company. They replaced the damaged boards, sanded the pre-finished floor, and put on 3 coats of finish, moved by furniture into the garage, and replaced the furniture at the end of the job. I felt Taozen brushed me off, and was not interested in my business.

From the time that we contacted Tao to the time of the work done was about 6 weeks, but that was due to other conditions that needed remediating before the workers could start the job at our home. Once here, the two men were fastidious and well mannered; it was not a hardship at all having them work here.

The job went very good. They were really accommodating to our schedule...we had a really short window before we moved into the house and they were able to schedule us right away. They had a lot of good reviews on Angie's List.

Tao and his crew were extremely efficient and diligent. There were some tough areas to work on left from the previous owner, and the floors came out looking brand new. They did an impeccable job. You can tell that their clients are extremely important to them, as Tao was very friendly and made sure any questions we had were answered. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who needs flooring work.

I was anxious about doing this work because it required moving half the contents of my condominium into the other half, then refinishing those floors. Once that was done, I reversed the process two weeks later. Then, two weeks after that Tao's crew came back and did front stairwell and landings in our 3-unit building. These floors and stairs hadn't been refinished in twenty years and were scratched and stained. Despite my initial anxiety, the whole process went extremely well. Working with Tao and his men was a very positive experience. The quality of the finished work is outstanding. The finish is smooth and blemish free. Scratches and stains were eliminated. The men were able to nicely fill gaps between some boards and even eliminate some of the squeakiness in the floorboards. The 3 coats of oil-based polyurethane look great (we did a 4th coat on the stairwell and landings because of traffic). It's a pleasure to come home from work every night and walk on them. Tao and his men displayed a great deal of respect for my home and property while they were there and were very careful to keep dust and odors at a minimum. Even my cat didn't seem to mind the disruption in the adjacent rooms. I would highly recommend Taozen Flooring to anyone who wants a high quality job done promptly and at a reasonable price.

Working with Tao was a pleasure from start to finish. He came out promptly and gave us a detailed and accurate estimate. The price wasn't the cheapest of all the estimates we got, but it wasn't the most expensive either. The cheaper bids seemed to underestimate the scope of the project, and the more expensive bids seemed unnecessarily padded - Tao's bid was the best combination of thoroughness and economy. Once the work began, the crew did a great job of minimizing the impact on our family. We ended up moving out during the application of the polyurethane, but otherwise there wasn't much disruption to our life. It's been about a month now since the project ended, and we couldn't be happier with the results. I would heartily recommend Taozen to anyone looking to install hardwood floors.
