S & W Tile

Wes was extremely professional. He provided a thoughtful consultation for a very reasonable price, after which point we were under no obligation to hire him, but we were excited to based on his expertise. He is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. He helped us determine how much of our chosen tile work to order, and now that everything is fully installed it looks amazing.

Wes did an outstanding job! I was able to observe along the way and no corners were cut with regards to the quality of both the pre-work (water-proofing, drain system install) as well as the final results. Wes was extremely professional, very considerate of working in my home, and didn't hesitate to ask questions when required. It was a large job and he was there for 2+ weeks...and was "invisible" to the household while completing the work (except of course to ask required questions). I would absolutely use S&W Tile again.

Since the shower was for my 85 year old mom who lives alone, I was in a bit of a jam. She could not be long without a shower. We were introduced to Wes. He came, he saw and he conquered. He spent time with my mom to spec out the job, the materials, design and the colors. I live out of town and communicated with Wes remotely. My first email to him was on March 12 The job was done expertly and quickly. I don't want to say how fast it was done, because it might create unrealistic expectations. But it was fast. He responds quickly to emails.

Wes was very responsive and did quality work as did his assistabt. It was a big job that grew as we realized the extent of the water damage. He gave us options as we went along and we ended up with something we were happy with.

Wes was exceptionally detailed and thorough. Prior to starting the work, he explained every step of the job and all related contingencies. He provided me with important knowledge so that I could make a very informed decision. I would definitely recommend him.

S&W Tile installed tiles (floors, walls, one shower) in two bathrooms. Wes explained the work he was going to do, and all of the choices and the reasons behind them. Overall he and his employee did an excellent job with the tile installation (other than one problem, see below), and the bathrooms generally look nice. However several aspects of our experience with them were non-optimal, so we would not hire them again. Mainly the issues had to do with the fact that they seemed more concerned with getting the job done quickly and getting paid, rather than making sure it was all done correctly. (In fact Wes pushed to get his final payment before the job was even finished.) For example, Wes recommended someone to do the plumbing aspect of the work (removing the vanities) who was a disaster—this plumber was very careless and sloppy and made multiple mistakes, one of which led to a significant leak that caused water damage to one of our ceilings. It took us weeks to fix all of the mistakes this plumber made and finish the half-done work (using someone else), but Wes consistently defended him, even when it didn’t make sense. Wes also made a mistake with the tile installation for one of the bathrooms (see attached picture); his employee carved a tile to make it fit around a fixture. We had planned to remove this fixture (no one asked us about this), but even if we hadn’t, this tile looks terrible because the carving is poorly done. Wes refused to replace this tile unless we paid him $400+ to do it, and he was pretty rude in his response to this request (unfortunately we had already paid him for the main job at this point). Also, Wes did not remove the debris that was generated during this work; this was was entirely our problem to deal with, and this turned out to be quite difficult. One could say that this is what you get when you don’t hire a general contractor to take care of all of the details, but we have had other people do small jobs on our house who have taken more responsibility for making the whole job go smoothly and to ensure that we are happy with the final result. If you hire S&W Tile, just make sure that you read their detailed contract fully before signing (to make sure you know what you will be responsible for), carefully check their work every day, and don’t make any payments unless the work is complete and done well.

Wes worked diligently, asked for input where needed, was courteous, professional and he really cleaned up. The job looks fantastic.

Found Wes on Angie's List in 2015, and asked him to come to the house to review the job. I originally had the intent to do the work myself, and wanted to see if I could hire him for his time to help give me tips, as well as review my work. Well, needless to say he successfully talked me out of this notion, and I'm very glad he did. As I'm sure I wouldn't have been able to do 1/10th as good of a job as he did, and it would have taken me at least 10 times as long. Wes is a perfectionist, this applies both to his work, and how he runs his company. When we originally met he presented me with all of the options, as well as detailing where there would be problem areas, and how different choices would affect the overall cost of the job. While he said he couldn't really help me with "supervising" the work if I decided to do it myself, he did provide me with a large amount of knowledge so that I could make up my mind. After realizing how much longer it would take for me to accomplish this, I decided to go with him. We signed a contract that essentially stated he would do the work at a specific time, and if the job site wasn't ready during that time, I would still be charged. This made me a bit nervous, and while there was some slight drama the weekend prior to the start, in the end the other contractors worked together to make sure the space was ready for him at the time we agreed upon. The guest bathroom floor was a bit of a mess, but using a system of flateners he was able to generate an amazing result, where each tile is evenly lined up with the adjacent tiles. Unfortunately, I did not order enough of the wall tile for the guest bathroom tub surround. He brought this to my attention early on, and very professionally stated that if I was not able to obtain more tile before his other work was done, he would have to come back at a later time - with an additional charge. Having exhausted all other options, we agreed to have him return the beginning of next month when the tile arrives, to finish the remaining guest bathroom tub surround wall. While I'm not happy about having to pay additional money for his time, I understand being a contractor and making sure your time gets filled. Also, I should have double checked the quantities of tile I had ordered. In short, when ordering tile it's best to go with at least 15% to 20% beyond what the numbers state you will need. Lastly, even with the additional cost incurred, I am happy to have him come back as I know the tile will be installed quickly, and will look amazing when he leaves. To repeat, there is no way I could have completed this job in anywhere near the time he did it in, and it would have been a serious hack job had I tried. His experience and skill in his trade is remarkable. He is efficient, thorough and produces a fantastic result. He started in on the guest bathroom on Monday, and completed with the master bathroom early Thursday. Very happy to have encountered Wes, and would highly recommend him if you need to have any tile work completed. In fact, I am most likely going to see if he is able to put up the kitchen backsplash tile when the time comes... assuming he isn't swamped by then of course.

The man called me a choice name which I won't repeat and sarcastically wished me "good luck". Obviously I didn't hire S&W Tile.

This is the second time we used Wes and S&W Tile and they did another outstanding job. Wes is a true professional, very knowledgeable, friendly and does fantastic work. From the time I reached out to Wes he was very responsive and gave several suggestions from where to get tile, products to be purchased and recommendations on the project to ensure the longevity of the tile. I highly recommend Wes and S&W Tile to anyone who is in need of tile work, he is a pleasure to work with!

Excellent work. Very professional. Totally on top of responses. Excellent planning - thinks of every detail from trash removal to getting all supplies up front right down to ensuring there's toilet paper in the (unoccupied) property for his staff. Everything set up beforehand so his crew could come in and just work. A real pleasure to work with and I'd absolutely work with him again. I was away on vacation - gave them the keys to our vacant property. They sent us daily updates on progress with pictures and did an awesome job.

We could not be happier with the end result! It looks awesome! It was such a pleasure working with such a professional company. Initially, I emailed a few tiling companies with estimate and availability inquiries. Wes was the first to respond, responding almost immediately. We emailed back and forth several times to nail down the specific details of the job; he asked questions about our desired design that we hadn’t even thought about; I honestly can say that I have never thought about shower niches or soap dishes before in my life! I sent emails containing pictures of our unfinished bathtub surround, the tile we purchased for the job, as well as the measurements of the space to be tiled, and Wes promptly provided his estimate for the job. Emailing at this stage of the project saved so much time for both of us; we got our seemingly unending questions all answered, working out every detail of the job, all before the job even began. For Wes, it was so much more efficient to bid the job based on information that was easily emailed, as opposed to coming out in person to bid the job. A few days before work was scheduled to begin, Wes contacted me to let me know that he injured his back while on vacation, and was unable to work; he said he’d call me later in the week to reschedule the job. He called me the next day to let me know that he had contacted his former partner, who was available to do the job, if we were agreeable. I agreed, and work, supervised by Wes, started only 2 days after we had originally scheduled. Wes, Sebastian (his former partner) and Ed arrived promptly, as scheduled. After evaluating the job in person, Wes made sure that we fully understood the few minor complications of our job, and provided us with a modified estimate (only $100 over the initial bid). He also recommended slightly altering our specific tile pattern design, which I’m sure resulted in a better outcome. The job took two full days and one partial day. We were really impressed that Ed came to finish the job on a Saturday! Despite a back injury, Wes was still able get our job done with only a minimal delay, AND without compromising quality. He went above and beyond what most contractors would do to get our job done. I found Wes to be a smart, efficient, extremely detail oriented, and very professional businessperson. I would whole-heartedly recommend Wes and S&W Tile to anyone; we absolutely will work with him again on our next renovation project!

Wes was extremely helpful in providing me the correct info on how to install tile! Unfortunatley my timeline was too short to have Wes do the job; however, even knowing he wasnt going to get the job he was more than willing to walk me through the process on how to install the ceramic tile correctly and accurately. I have used many contractors and the fact that Wes is willing to take time out of his day knowing he isnt going to the one performing the work but to still explain how to perform the task.....impressive is the only word that comes to mind!!!

Wes was maybe the most responsive and reliable contractor with whom we have worked. From the beginning, Wes promptly responded to all of our questions, carefully scrutinized the specs associated with our tiles, and provided useful advice about how to proceed. Moreover, Wes was able to schedule and complete the work within a 10 day window, attending to much of the work himself (even teaching us some useful tiling skills along the way). The work turned out brilliantly. The quote was not the cheapest we received, but worth it given the level of attention, care to detail, and quality of work we received.

I had my bathroom remodeled over this past winter. The work was so poorly done that everything had to be repaired including the tile work in the shower and on the floor. I contacted S & W Tile and Wes responded immediately. He came to my house and assessed the repair work to be done. Wes took his time and explained everything in detail that had to be done. He was very honest and direct which I really appreciated. Wes set a date and time for the work to be done and showed up on that day on time to start the project. Everything was done exactly how Wes had explained. The work was completed within the time frame that Wes had estimated, and the tile work was excellent. The quality of the work was 100% better and looks great. They also did an excellent job of cleaning up after the project. I am very pleased with the work and would absolutely recommend S & W Tile.

Wes was very responsive to the initial inquiry and had more flexibility in his schedule than other contractors we spoke with. When he came out to make the estimate, he was professional, knowledgeable and helpful in talking with us about what we wanted. (He did charge $75 for the estimate which I thought was unusual but he deducted that from the final cost when we hired him.) All of our initial communication was with Wes, but he is a fairly hand off contractor. During the renovation which lasted three days, I saw him for a total of about 30 minutes. (There were also a couple of quick phone calls.) The men who work for Wes (Doug and Renalto) were fabulous - they produced high quality work, cleaned up after themselves and were good communicators when any questions arose. We are very happy with the work they did. It should be noted that S&W is not a general contractor, which means that the customer is responsible for all sub-contracting. Wes put us in contact with a plumber he knows, be we were expected to contact him and set things up. We also had to find an electrician and someone to install the shower door. Overall, we are quite happy with our bathroom and would recommend S&W.

The work went very smoothly. Wes is *very* responsive to e-mails throughout the process of arranging the work to be done. The job took 2-1/2 days to complete, and was done beautifully and efficiently. Our shower area looks fantastic. I definitely would hire them again.

It could not have come out any better. It looks marvelous. And, I am very meticulous with a very critical eye. Let me back up. I was in a pinch. I had not planned on a tile backsplash but the plumbing inspector wanted it. Wes answered my call and set up an immediate appointment that week. The day he came out, Wes gave me a few design tips and off to work he and Douglas went. Done in 3 hours.

I had started a bathroom remodel, but ran out of time to finish the wall tiling after completing underfloor heating and a mosaic marble floor. I needed to hire someone to waterproof the walls (especially around the tub), install the wall tiles and grout everything. I contacted S&W Tile through Angie's list and Wes quickly responded to my message. He asked me to send a detailed email about the project with pictures of the room. After Wes looked at the photos and read the scope of work, we chatted by phone. Wes sent me a quote that evening. The quote was more than I was hoping to pay, but I had purchased high-end crackle finish subway tiles and some beautiful accent tile and wanted the finished product to be perfect. Reviews on Angie's list highlighted the excellent quality of S&W tile, so I went forward with them. The bonus was that Wes was able to schedule the job within a matter of several weeks as I was expecting house guests and wanted the bathroom to be finished prior to their arrival. Doug arrived promptly as was scheduled on the quote. He laid down protective tarps to cover the floors, brought in his tools and worked out where to set up his wet saw. Doug even helped us carry up boxes of tile from the basement (fyi, my condo is a second floor walk-up)! I went over the design of the room and Doug quickly got started waterproofing the room. Doug pointed some level/plumb issues in the room and he gave me options on how to proceed. We discussed the best design given the height of the vanity, etc. I really appreciated Doug's consideration for the look I was trying to achieve (classic 1920 black and white subway tiled bathroom). There was some miscommunication between Wes and I with respect to the scope of work and design elements that I had included in my original email and that we had discussed by phone, including tile accents such as tile baseboard, an accent tile border, bullnose tiles and 1/8 inch grout spacing that were not included in the quoted price. Wes called on Doug's first day on the job to discuss the need for additional labor costs because of the extra time it would take (beyond a standard subway tile project) to complete the job. Doug was working amazingly hard and his consideration for the design and his attention to detail were fantastic, so I agreed to the additional labor costs. The job took an extra day and a half than originally expected and Wes even had to send an additional person to help Doug on Sunday (Father's Day, for which I felt awful). Doug was a pleasure to have in our home and the bathroom looks so wonderful! I couldn't be happier with my whole experience with S&W tile. Douglas and Renato were life savers. We fired our contractor for various reasons including because he refused to install the tile we picked out. Wes' team saved us. Wes was responsive and helped us schedule an install right away. Wes' team came each morning and stayed late each day to complete the job in three days. They helped me solve my issue regarding the curb around the shower niches and offered advice on how to install the floor tile. Most of all, they were a pleasure to work with, and they did excellent work. Having S&W tile waterproof our shower and install our tile was worth every penny. I am a big DIYer and I was thoroughly impressed with S&W. I plan on hiring them again for my downstairs bathroom.

Excellent job. Renato and Douglas were on time, professional, and kept their work areas very clean. The job is beautiful. One of the most important skills for me was that they knew when to ask for guidance/clarification in order to avoid any misunderstandings. This is not always the case in remodeling and yet so crucial to being able to trust that the job will come out as you hoped. I am delighted with the outcome and equally delighted with the process. I would not hesitate to recommend them and will use them again on my next bathroom.

Great experience all around. I spoke with Wes, the owner, sent him pictures of the kitchen and we agreed on the job and the price. I supplied the tiles and the grout. Team showed up on time ready to go. They put down drop cloths and were very professional. Wes showed up a bit later to go over the details of the job and make sure we were all in agreement with what was to be done. Job was completed in5-6 hours and looks great. They were very careful to clean up and make sure I was happy. My one minor complaint was that they left their bag of trash in the backyard. However, this was very professional experience, an easy business exchange, and I will definitely use S & W again.

S&W Tile did a fantastic job. On top of doing high quality work, they were very professional, punctual, responsive, and considerate. Wes recommended some tile places and even called in our order so we ended up getting his professional discount. All of his recommendations, from tile stores to a plumber, were great. His crew was so considerate that they called to let me know that a perishable package was delivered to our house and they even brought the two large boxes in the house for us. But most importantly, our bathroom looks great and we are very happy with the results!
