S & W Tile

Excellent experience. Wes did a great job in a challenging situation (crummy, uneven basement floor). His communication before and during the project was outstanding.

The job went super well. I had Wes come back to regrout the rest of the bathroom tile that covers half of the wall because the work he did in my tub/shower -- replacement of broken tiles and regrouting -- looked so fantastic. My bathroom looks like new! I will be having Wes back soon to do the same to my second bathroom, i.e. regrout the wall tiles.

Wes was very pleasant to work with. I had a tricky issue with some cracking grout and holes in our kitchen floor. I got three quotes. Each person told me something different. Only two of the people even gave me a price. Wes seemed the most honest of the three. He told me my options and told me what he would do if it was his floor. We went with the cheaper fix, instead of pulling up the whole floor, and it looks great. Wes told us up front it might crack again, but he showed my husband how to repair it for the future. Since we had to pay for the day, he then went around looking at other things, helped us diagnose and unblock a blocked shower drain and, unfortunately, noticed evidence of a leaky shower that we were unaware of. We will also use him for that a job. It is reassuring to work with someone who takes pride in their work and who communicates well and is reliable.

The tile shower in our master bedroom was leaking through to the ceiling of the floor below. Based on Angies list reviews, we contacted Wes at S&W tile by email on a weekday evening and had a response back from him early the next morning. He explained that these issues are usually caused by the shower not being waterproofed correctly at the start - eventually resulting in the leaks. We had guests coming for a visit in a couple weeks and wanted to try to get the problem corrected before they arrived. Wes was able to come out and assess the issue for us, and give us a proposal within 2 days. There is a $75 fee for this that is then applied against the job if you proceed. After the assessment Wes confirmed that the original shower waterproofing had failed. He gave us a proposal to rip out the old shower and install a new, correctly waterproofed tile shower. The quote does not include materials. Wes will let you know the quantities that you will need and you select and source these yourself. The original quote also assumes the use of ceramic tile and includes no extras, like niches, marble seats etc. We decided to proceed and they were able to fit us in a week and a half later. We ended up using porcelain and stone tile and going with one niche, and Wes revised the quote on that basis. All things considered, the job went very smoothly. They ripped out the old shower on the first day and found that the original installation had been poorly done. We ended up replacing the subfloor under the shower as a result of the damage. Wes and his team handled this very quickly. The entire job was completed in three and a half days. The results are really beautiful. Also they also did a good job with clean-up during the project and after it was complete. A few things to keep in mind. Wes and his team specialize in the demolition and installation of the waterproofing and tile for the new shower. You are the designer. If there are other issues (e.g. plumbing, mold, etc.) you may need to bring in other resources. As an example, we chose to repair the downstairs ceiling drywall damage ourselves. If we had not wanted to do that, we would have needed to hire a second contractor for that. After the completion of the tile we contacted another company to install a new glass door. The other point is that when you are replacing a tile shower in an existing bathroom, it is highly unlikely that you will be able to find new tile to match what is there now. So there will be places in the bathroom where the new has to meet up with the old. You should think about this as you are selecting your materials, considering your design etc. Wes does these jobs every day and will present you with options, but at the end of the day you will need to make decisions that will yield a result that you are happy with. We spent a lot of time during our project thinking through how we would deal with these sorts of issues. I highly recommend S&W. We will use them again.

Wes was very prompt in his replies and we set a time. He warned us that during the demo he could find problems -- luckily we did not! The entire job took five days (labor) over a 9 day period. The best part: Wes is friendly, easy to work with, prompt and clean. It was clear Wes is a seasoned professional -- we would hire Wes again.

Wes was terrific! He was responsive to inquiries and honest about the difficulties of repairing the broken tile in my old shower enclosure and regrouting the shower that had been improperly done by a previous owner with an inferior product. I found the matching tile, and he did the rest. The tile in both shower enclosures looks amazing, clean and like new! In fact, his work is so good, we are having Wes back to regrout the ceramic tile walls of one of the bathrooms.

Based on a recommendation from our plumber, I contacted Wes re: tiling our tub-surround (another contractor replaced the tub). From start to finish, he was great to work with. He was responsive, with prompt, informative communication. He listened carefully to what our needs were and what we wanted while also offering his professional advice/expertise. The work was done on schedule and in budget -- and looks fantastic -- even prettier than the 'picture' that was in my head. I would refer him without reservation.

I hired Wes to demo and install a heated marble floor in my 20 square foot bathroom. Overall, he was very helpful and informative throughout the process. He was able to answer all of my questions via facetime. He was on time for the first day of the project. He kept things quite tidy throughout the installation. The overall product was terrific, with only a few small imperfections. I would absolutely hire him again for future projects.

Can’t say enough good things about Wes, the owner of S&W Tile. We hired him for a leaking shower that turned into a complicated and messy shower and bathroom demo/remodel as we learned our current shower hadn't been installed properly by the previous homeowner (one of the most challenging jobs Wes had encountered, my plumbers also separately said it was the worst hack job they’d ever seen). From the initial consultation and throughout the entire project Wes was a pleasure to work with, responsive, punctual, personable and hardworking. He always took the time to painstakingly explain everything in detail to me (a clueless first time homeowner), give advice and help me weigh up my options while being cognizant of keeping costs down. I would highly recommend Wes and S&W Tile to anyone.

This went better than we could have imagined. Wes was so helpful from beginning to end. We had originally contacted him when we had water leaking into our kitchen from the upstairs bath. We knew right away he was the contractor we wanted to work with! We sincerely appreciated his honesty and he gave us references to great service providers for additional work we needed to have done. He made himself available to answer our questions and provided advice throughout the entire process, even in the weeks leading up to starting the work. We've received compliments on the quality of the work and the precision of the tiling from our plumber and the glass vendor when they came over after the work was done for installations. Its great to get that feedback, not only from friends and family, but also from other professionals who see this work more often!

Exceptionally satisfied with the work done by S&W. They gave us option to hire them for prep work or perform it on our own. They allowed me to perform prep work and advised on what needs to be done prior to tiling. Correspondence done through email and a few phone calls. Initially, we were uneasy about not having an on site survey but they were able to make a complete assessment through photos and telephone calls. Job was completed on time and within budget. I had the pleasure of meeting Wes, he gave me helpful tips on installing toilet flange extension to remount toilet which was needed after tile was reinstalled. Our future tile jobs will be done through S&W without a doubt!

I could not be happier with my new bathroom remodel that was done S&W Tile. I worked with S&W Tile because I looked on Angie’s List to find some options for tile contractors. Other companies had 5 reviews or 3 reviews but S&W had over 300 reviews. You do not get more than 300 A ratings if you are not great. Wes called me right back when I left a message about wanting to discuss the job. He was so professional throughout the whole process. He gave honest opinions, detailed pricing and information from before the job started until after it was finished. We discussed tile options, floor options, grout colors. The job was done in 6 days!! 6 Days! Not 6 weeks or 6 months like many horror stories you hear. The workmanship is flawless and I was kept informed every day of what would happen next and what to expect. I think that Wes and his team are not just contractors but craftsmen. The bathroom looks amazing. The arrangement of the tiles is perfectly set-up. Every detail is exactly how I would want the job done. And each day – when I arrived home, the house was clean and neat. I never had tools lying around or dust from the walls all over the house. It was pristine. The space they had to work in was tiny but S&W Tile made it all come together so that the job was finished on time and on budget. Wes and his team exceeded my expectations on every small detail. Amazing!

I don’t write reviews often if at all. Even my hair stylist whom I travel 45 minutes out of my way for because she’s a hair genius doesn’t get a review. So you know when I recommend Wes, it’s not joke. The short version: he’s thorough, he’s straight forward, and he’ll go above and beyond for you. A little pricier than I’d hoped, but the service, the dedication, and the commitment to your job that you get is well worth it. The long version: I’m a traveling consultant, which means I’m never home. My shower had leaked into my walls, and was causing issues when I was away. My neighbor called the plumbers who hacked a massive hole in my shower to stop the leak. I contacted a bunch of people to help fix the hole. Wes was the only one who responded. I sent him an email with the problem and within 30 minutes we’d established it was out of his scope. Frustrated that time wasn’t on my side, I almost gave in to living with the hole in my shower. To my amazement, Wes emailed me that night saying he took another look at the pictures, and he might be able to do something about it. From then on, we talked a couple of times. One thing I admire about him and his respect for time. He was never late. 9AM meant 9AM. He was up front with all my options, and how it may impact the value of my home, and his recommendation. Next, he walked me through what he’d do, step by step for each option. I chose the option to have my bathroom 90% redone. When the job was scheduled and ready to go, I realized I was too busy to get the plumbers in and have them unhook all my plumbing so he could do his job. One call, Wes set it up. He realized i might need a new vanity and tap because the old set up was too fragile. Told him it’d be awesome to get one but I didn’t have the time. No problem. He went out, bought it, had it hooked up. My tub was also all cracked up and needed reglazing. I had talked to him about it, and he said it was out of his scope. Fortunately the job got done a couple of days early, so guess what? He hooked that up too. With my schedule what would’ve taken weeks of appointments and juggling 90 things was done in the span of 5 days. I went from my first conversation with Wes to a fully redone bathroom in under 30 days. If I wasn’t traveling, it would’ve been 10 at best.

Wes spent quite a bit of time with me on the phone. I had asked that he come for a consultation, and I was willing to pay the $75 fee. Turns out he was very busy, but spent easily an hour or more on the phone with me. He mentioned that a mud job was what I needed, but that his company doesn't do them anymore. However, he spent a long time describing what I should look for when finding another provider, including the methods and materials. I will keep them in mind when it comes time to remodel the kitchen and baths

Wes was fantastic to work with. He was courteous, professional, responsive, and gave us options on how to complete the project. He was very straight forward with what needed to be done to fix our leak and didn't try to upsell us. We'll hire him again when we redo the bathroom!

I had put off for years regrouting and recaulking my shower because finding a contractor who was reliable, honest, prompt, and highly skilled seemed like a daunting task, besides the fact that I am a busy, single female professional with no time to deal with it or knowledge whatsoever of this kind of work. But the fear of paying for a potential leak down 5 floors of a condo building prompted me to start searching on Angie's List. S&W stood out for the great reviews and I decided to take the plunge. Wes was fantastic. He came to my unit to do an assessment, and came back within a few days with all materials and tools in hand and finished in one morning. He took all the time we needed during the assessment to discuss what needed to be done, what didn't need to be done (saving me money), and what colors I wanted. When he came back a few days later, he stripped the old grout which had crumbled in several places, regrouted the whole shower so it gleamed like new, and stripped and recaulked the shower, bathroom sink area, and kitchen sink area. He was friendly, did the work carefully and explained what he was doing when I popped in from time to time, and cleaned up at the end. My impression at the end was that the whole thing was easy and straightforward.

Wes was great on the phone and even better in person. Over the phone we discussed the work to be done. As I was not certain how to properly clean one of the surfaces prior to sealing it I decided it was best to have Wes do it professionally. As I wasn't sure of the exact grout colors Wes came to check it out prior to doing anything. The next day Wes was on time, prepared and immediately explained (again) to me what he was going to do and took the time to explain each and every step. He is extremely professional, very thorough and cleans up after himself perfectly. He really, really knows his business and I HIGHLY recommend this company!!! He may SEEM more expensive but you get the job done perfectly the first time. I would absolutely hire him again and deeply encourage you to hire him as well. He is also a nice guy and very personable. He will be honest and direct with you. No games with this company. I am thrilled with his work!

It went very well all through the project. Wes came out, took a look at the shower, and quickly gave us an estimate. He explained in detail how he does things, the materials he uses and their benefits, how long it was likely to take, and a couple of different options. He was able to get started quickly, and finished, as promised, within a week. In addition to the shower itself, there was some finicky work needed to match tile on the bathroom walls after taking out the old shower, and he did a great job on that. Also, when he took out the old shower he found that the floor itself and some of the walls needed extra work. He told us immediately, explained the problem and the solution, and told us how much extra it would cost (we thought it was a very reasonable amount). Wes has a straightforward friendly manner, very professional, and very responsive. We had some questions for him when we were buying tile and he called us right back with useful answers. We are very happy with the work Wes did, happy to recommend him to other Angie's list members, and would certainly hire him again.
