Description of Work: We hired Peter to complete work that we had paid someone else to do 4 years ago only to find out they did a shoddy job and didn't actually do everything they were supposed to. The issue was knob and tube wiring throughout our condo. The previous electrician under bid on the job and didn't complete it and we only found out during an inspection when we were trying to sell. Peter understood the urgency during a real estate transaction and came over and did a thorough and complete inspection and identified all the problems. His estimate was realistic and he explained the difficulty of finding and replacing all the knob and tube, especially since ours had been sealed up during a previous attic renovation. Peter's estimates are just that - estimates. He bills on the actual time and materials cost. Our estimate was on the upper end, but when the work was complete, he charged us less because it did not take as long as he thought. He also cautioned us before he started that if it took longer than he thought it could have gone up. I think this is a completely fair approach. Peter and his crew were knowledgable, friendly, respectful, clean, and thoughtful. We have a lot of books and they needed to get behind the bookshelves. His team took them out and put back all the books more than once. They had to cut holes in the walls but kept the dust to a minimum. They were fabulous with our young son, answering his numerous questions and after our smoke detectors were set off by dust, they covered them with dust protectors for the rest of the job since they knew they scared our son. I can't speak highly enough of the whole team. This was the second time we had Peter do a job for us and it won't be the last. If you are looking for a trustworthy, high quality electrician who takes pride in his service to his customers, look no further!

Not well.
Description of Work: I called twice to arrange for this company to look at some electrically issues in my house. I never got a response, which was disappointing since they have so many good reviews here.

The first job went perfectly. I'd have given him an A-. The owner himself came to the house (I suspect this is why things went well), they found some issues with the install that were clearly issues and fixed everything. In the end it cost less than expected and little mess. the second time less lucky. First, 2 younger guys showed up about 90 minutes late and assessed the job. Because they were late they wouldn't have time to do everything on my list, so we prioritized. After that 15 minute chat they went to lunch and came back about 90 minutes later. I have old horsehair plaster walls and the outlets were installed into the laths rather than studs. So, I asked them to cut holes in all the walls and install the outlets against studs squarely and solidly with new uptocode outlets. I also had them install 2 new outdoor lights. I ended up having to redo every single outlet--they were all crooked and all of them were installed way to far back into the walls. In some cases I could just get extenders and that made it fine. In one case the outlet doesn't work at all. It took me about 6 hours to fix them all, plus another 10 or so to fix all the walls (this latter job was expected). We were again billed relatively fairly. However, they charged us for a full hour for the initial 15 minutes, plus rounded up the second part up about 30 minutes, meaning quite a bit of overcharging. I'm used to the concept of rounding up to the next hour for billing, but twice in one day was excessive. I couldn't prove anything at first but I couldn't find a number of my tools and batteries afterward. My basement -- where everything is stored -- was a bit cluttered/messy, so I assumed they were just misplaced. However, 6 months later we completely emptied the basement for another job and I set up a shop in a new shed, where every single tool I own was put into new, organized places. I ended up missing 2 batteries, the charger, and a drill. Both missing batteries were the older type so it wasn't a huge loss, but the charger was the newer kind and that was somewhat expensive to replace. During this cleanup process, I found an opened bottle of apple juice that had about 1/3 drank from it (we store home brewing supplies in the basement). Exactly 2 other people had been in our basement other than the workers in that time: me and my wife. So I am 100% certain one of them did this (I realize it's petty, but it's also kind of gross and unacceptable). As for the tools, I honestly can't think of where else they would have gone (and it's now been almost 2 years since the work was done). So in the end I had to find a new electrician for future business. While I'd give the first experience nearly an A, the second was such an abysmal F that I can't really forgive it. I feel tentative about this review since I never contacted him about the problems. The owner's work was great and he was quite responsive, so if there's a way to ensure only the owner will do your work I guess go for it. I honestly forgot all about this experience until the site asked me to submit a review.
Description of Work: I have used them twice: the first time to have ceiling fans/lights reinstalled with wall switches (instead of pull cables). The second time to completely reinstall about 15 electrical outlets and 2 exterior lights.

I am extremely disappointed reading this review. We stand behind all our work and would fix anything that was wrong as a result in our work. The odd thing about this review is when the bill was sent out there was no complaints or problems brought to my attention. I do understand it is impossible to please everyone but this customer seemed to be happy with the work and mentioned none of these complaints he writes about in the review. The other odd things are if you are unhappy with something its best to explain this to the service provider than to not say anything, pay the bill with no mention then TWO YEARS later write a very disappointing review. I have many repeat and long term customers who are very pleased with our work and if there is ever any issues we discuss them and correct them. Again I am very disappointed reading this review but I just dont understand why TWO YEARS later this review is written.

Hi (member name removed), My apologies for not getting back to you. I have been dealing with some medical issues and several doctors appointments. From start to finish, Peter and his crew were polite, professional, prompt, and prepared. Peter was very responsive, very straight forward, and followed through on every detail. Zero drama. The two members of his crew that did most of the work were very hard working and very personable. The work was excellent. Peter was very concerned that everything was done to my satisfaction. No question who I will call the next time I need an electrician.
Description of Work: Upgrade from 100 to 200 amp service, install new outlets, repair incorrectly installed outlets, install chandelier, install bathroom fan, install overhead lights. Pretty big job.

The work was neat, punctual, timely, and DiMasi made creative suggestions for the basement and under-cabinet lighting that worked out really well. Dimasi does not itemize a price list, but charges a flat fee for a set amount of time. The customer can negotiate the number of tasks to be done in that timeframe.
Description of Work: He and an assistant installed ceiling lights for a workshop in the basement, changed the orientation of the light switches in two rooms, installed under-cabinet kitchen lights, and a timer for an outdoor light .

We had several estimates from electricians to rewire our electrical panel. We purchased an old house with an outdated breaker that showed historical signs of some type of electrical surge (blackened/melted main breaker - not good). We opted to have the whole panel rewired and the exterior of the house resealed, as water had been getting in due to a cracked seal. Peter came on time for the estimate. He even made a point to wipe his feet thoroughly on the doormat outside the house, a detail that did not go unnoticed. He was not the least expensive estimate we received, or the most expensive. He made our panel replacement a priority and came within two days to do the repair/replace, as he deemed it a safety hazard. He was thorough, efficient and reasonable. We also had Peter quote us on installing power and cable above our fireplace for mounting our television, but at $600+ we decided to take that project on ourselves.
Description of Work: Electrical panel/box replacement/rewire. resealed exterior area where electrical runs into the house.

It went great. No complaints at all.
Description of Work: Peter did several projects for us. Radiant floor heat, adding heat in a previously unseated bedroom, recessed lighting in kitchen, and several miscellaneous projects throughout our condo. Overall a fantastic experience. Prompt, communicative, and was willing to help us figure out what fixtures we could buy ourselves so we could save a bit of money in the process. With so many contractors not really technologically savvy, it was also nice to find someone who communicated promptly via email and takes electronic payments. Couldn't be happier.

Peter DiMasi and his team replaced a weather beaten and dangerous electrical panel in our newly purchased home... This baby was a poster child for code violations. The new electrical panel is up to code and a thing of beauty! Peter also found creative ways to run cable to give us new light switches at the top of a stairway. We hated going back into a cold garage to turn off the lights after we got upstairs... and he installed a new outdoor flood light with motion sensor. All in all it was a top notch job and it was completed in one day. I highly recommend PW DiMasi Electrical Contractors.

I found Peter through a recommendation of a friend at work, and gradually discovered he'd done work for about five of us in my office already because each of us are so happy with him that we recommend him to anyone who asks! Peter has been out to my house quite a few times for multiple jobs since I purchased the home three years ago and I can say that he is my favorite contractor: the easiest to work with, communicate with, schedule, and above all trust 1000% (not a typo!). Peter has installed new light fixtures, replaced old pull chain light switches with switches in the wall -- operating the same old fixtures (one day I'll have the $ to upgrade) -- and added new outlets. He also installed an outdoor security light which is a great convenience when we let our dogs in the back yard (their motion turns it on and it times off) and it stopped some teens from using our yard as a midnight shortcut. His most recent job was to entirely replace the wiring throughout one apartment of my two-family home. His work has always been perfect with no need to follow up. Peter has also made recommendations to me about lighting items I can get myself at home depot and use in regular receptacles to have motion detector lights in my back hall and basement, talking me out of changes that would have meant more work for him. His estimates are extremely reasonable, he stands by them, and he gives a discount to angie's list members. It's great value all around. Peter is always very clear about job requirements, totally accommodating about batching work according to my budget limits at a given time, and very responsive by email or phone. Once he injured his hand on a job he was at before mine, and called to ask if it was all right if his right-hand man (pardon the pun) came with another assistant to do the work. I'd already met him and trusted his workmanship fully as well. They came right on time and of course did a fabulous job. So even broken bones do not deter a job well done! Peter and his team clarify every detail, for example do I want them to spend the time patching drywall with electrician's plaster before they leave, or do I want to save the money and take care of it myself. It would take all day to describe all my positive impressions. These guys actually love their work and appreciate their customers. I absolutely recommend you work with Peter DiMasi for any electrical-related work. If I ever run out of needed upgrades, I will miss Peter DiMasi! Fortunately that day is not coming soon.
Description of Work: multiple jobs: rewiring, adding or replacing light fixtures, adding new outlets, rewiring ceiling pull switches to be wall switches. Also installed an outside security motion-detector light wired to a new inside switch.

Description of Work: In a word, Peter is amazing. I expect a lot from contractors and sadly, I am often let down. Peter met and well exceeded my expectations... and then some. He is in my top three, if not number one of all contracrors I have ever worked with; i am really not kidding. He is professional, responsive, and a nice person. He always showed up when he said he would, always explained what he was doing, called me with updates, even took pictures and sent them to me. He is very, very knowledgeable and always had an eye towards quality and cost. His workmanship is beautiful and he goes the extra step to do it right. he stands by his work and would always work with me to make ajustments after the fact. I really can not say enough about him. he is a true professional. As i mentioned before, i am not easy to please when it comes to people working on my house. I can be very h****** contractors when things go wrong, not in terms of unseen problems. I would highly recomend Peter to anyone, without doubt.
