NW Pest Control Inc

NW Pest Control Inc were fine. They come periodically and they are coming back in June. They do what they have to do, they put down a little box and then leave. I didn't know that it was an ongoing thing, I thought it was a one time thing and then a follow up but they have come more since. They did a good job, I just think that it should be clarified that it is not just taking care of an immediate problem. I am 80 years old and I am on a steep budget, so when I found out that I have to pay USD 80 every time they come besides the initial payment, it throws my budget my off and I will complete my contract with them if that is what they consider it. I just think it is not fair to not explain to explain to the customer at the outset because it kind of hooks you in with the low price when they first come in and you agree to the follow up, but I had no idea that they would be coming in the spring and the summer and on and on. Maybe they explain it to the other customers better than they did me and maybe other customers are not in such a financial problem like I am. If I don't hire them again it will be because I don't have it in my budget to keep on using them.Their initial price was very good but after that it is too high.

The serviceman was professional

They came out and in my opinion they were trying to sell us a yearly pest control system instead of give us advice. The person they sent was not very knowledgeable. What I bought was questions about pest and how to get rid of them and if they found any evidence of pests. The guy was not very knowledgeable. My husband walked around with him and asked questions and he was not knowledgeable. They found no evidence of pests but still wanted me to do the service. It was way too expensive for the service. He was not there for more then 15 minutes. I paid all that money for them to try and sell me a contract. They were very responsive, came right out.

They are fantastic. The scheduling is super easy, they arrive on time and they are everything you hope they will be. The staff is very friendly!

It went pretty well. The work was satisfactory. They were professional, friendly and they explained what kind of chemicals they were using. They seemed to be very good at laying bait around.

Provider was very responsive and professional but unfortunately, the bait traps and exclusion did not help the problem very much. They returned on multiple occasions and were committed to helping us however they could, but the problem continued.

It worked like a charm. We had loud scratching in our walls, and within a week or two the scratching ceased. He was very knowledgeable, asking us questions to help decide whether it was mice or a squirrel, examined all our crawlspaces, and clearly knew what he was doing. There was a moderate attempt at upselling, offering us a yearly service plan and whatnot, but it was polite and low-pressure. We were very satisfied all around.

Chris Caldwell was great...he answered all of our questions and provided speedy service.

NW Pest Control went over my basement and kitchen and put out multiple bait traps for mice which have been nibbling at things in one of my kitchen cabinets. The service provider was courteous, prompt, efficient. He put traps in places I wouldn't have thought of. Since installation of traps, there have been no new signs of mice! Really happy. Am planning to sign up for year round service.

They came a total of two or three times. They bated traps and inspected the home. They were fast and professional. Will use again this summer for insect spraying.

We had a problem with birds nesting in an area under our deck. Suffice it to say, the birds were making a mess on the deck and on the patio under the deck. We contacted NW Pest Control and scheduled an estimate for an evaluation of the issue. Brandon arrived within the timeframe promised, examined the issue and recommended screening the bays under the deck on both sides to prevent the birds from nesting. Brandon showed us the material they would use for the screening, gave us the estimate ($200.00) and said to call if we wanted to schedule. No pressure! We called on Monday 5/13/13 to schedule the job, and NW Pest installed the screening on Wednesday May 15, 2013. They did a neat and professional job. The price we paid ($165.00) was after a $35.00 coupon from the phone book. Overall, excellent job, we would definitely call them back for future isses.

I used NW to do a home inspection in the winter. They recommended a pest inspection for carpenter ants in the spring. Once the spring rolled around, I called them to set this up. I explained to the woman on the phone what the inspection results were and that I wanted the treatment done. The scheduled morning came around, and NW showed up 30 minutes late. The service man had no idea that NW did a previous inspection, nor did he have a copy of their own report. That was pretty bad form given that I explained this on the phone to NW already, and that this was NW's own recommendation. The new person wanted to do a quick reinspection of his own. He claimed to find issues that the previous NW inspector did not find (he claimed to initially find evidence of termites, while the previous person said they were powderpost beetles). It all felt pretty silly. I had to leave for work (because they showed up late) before he finished, and I asked him to call me after he was done to describe what he found and how the work went. He failed to called me at all. A couple days later, I had to call him. To make things even worse, about a week after he sprayed, there were ants again. I called another company instead that did a much better job. I feel like I totally wasted my money and time with NW. **** Update on 5/18/13: After seeing the company's response, I'm completely flabbergasted and am downgrading my previous D to an F. The company says "the tech never claimed to find termites." That is completely untrue. Their tech told me it was termites. I still remember the way he broke it to me because it was so distressing. "I have bad news for you..." Anybody would remember if they were thinking about buying a house, had a company inspect it for termites, got a clean reading, then bought it, then had the *same* company tell you after you bought it that it did have termites. After getting this shocking news, I had to explain to the tech that NW's previous tech said it was powderpost beetles to convince him otherwise. He did take a sample back for reinspection after I told him about the contradiction in findings. So the company's response is completely untrue (and frankly calloused in the extreme given the emotional distress NW caused). Very disappointing that NW is digging in their heels on this one. The person who wrote the company response is obviously writing secondhand and is writing confidently about something they can't attest to. This tech had no idea what the previous report said, who did it, or even that there was a previous report. He didn't even know that NW had been there. He asked me to describe what the previous tech looked like, how tall he was, etc. so he could get an idea. He definitely had no previous report. Bad form! Look at the bad grades (Ds and Fs) on Angie's List that other customers have given to NW and you'll note this pattern of poor records (see especially the one from March 2012). The company's response didn't apologize or recognize that I asked the tech to call me back immediately after the work was done and tell me what he saw on closer inspection. I was on edge given what his statements about termites. He never called me. I waited two days and then I had to call him. The company claims to have phone records -- they should verify that they never returned my request for a phone call and mention that they failed in their response. Oh, and they keep phone records, but they don't provide previous inspection reports to their own techs who are servicing clients? Pathetic! It is true that I didn't call them back after ants came out. I had already lost my trust in them after their mess-up, failure to call, and didn't want them back on my property again. Hey and maybe the tech should have explained to me about the 2 week "kick in" period? Does NW ever think of proactively communicating? If the tech had called me back as I had specifically asked after he finished the job, even 2 minutes of explanation would have gone a long way. This is the first bad report that I've ever written on Angie's list. Come on NW, live up to your mistakes rather than try to paper them over. It would have been much classier to offer a refund rather than spin this tale. Learn from your mistakes rather than shift blame. Improve your record-keeping, improve customer communication, and recognize when you've made a mistake. People will cut you slack if you show some humility. Seems like both the original tech and the person writing this response don't want to accept responsibility. That's not the mark of a professional business. My advice is to stay away from NW. If they make a mistake, you'll probably get blown off and treated like I was (and the other people who gave Ds and Fs) in the company's response. Caveat emptor readers!

I expected a little more for the price. I was hoping the warranty was better as well.

They trapped and covered one hole, but they came back in through another hole. I called back and somebody came back out that week to find the other hole and patch. Service is good for 6 months at no extra charge. They were friendly, prompt and seemed to know what they were doing

NW Pest -- wildlife manager Dave Martin -- gave an estimate for a wildlife issue. We had a hole in our fascia board near the roofline. A squirrel and some birds made a home. We had removed a dead squirrel prior to Dave's visit. Dave gave us good, honest, practical advice. He made it clear that there were no more squirrels (and no baby squirrels) in the attic. He also noted that there was only a tiny bird's nest and not a general bird problem. He gave us a few options to address the fascia hole and prevent recurrence of wildlife entering the fascia hole. We ended up asking NW Pest to close off the attic hole and paid by credit card, but our carpenter was already scheduled to fix/paint that spot. NW Pest promptly refunded the money. NW Pest was also considerably cheaper in its estimate than a competitor company and was more practical in the options it outlined. Great company to deal with, in my limited experience with them. Would recommend them to others.

It went well.Both technicians were knowledgeable and took their time explaining what they were doing and what they were looking for in the follow-up visit.

I had a mice issue after the summer and notices some droppings in the basement and kitchen near the trash barrel. I caught two but wanted to ensure there were not more. This company was running a special for $145.00. the would inspect and rid the house of mice if found. They came down- checked the areas advised of where the dropping were and performed a whole house inspection- attic, main floor and basement. They left numerous bait houses in the attic and basement, which, if there were any mice within the house would would feed from the bait traps become extremely thirsty and search for water- outside the house. They also advised of possible and potential locations were the mice may be entering the foundation from. My area was the bulk head leading to the basement. Afterwards, they advised to schedule another appointment approximately two months after the bait houses were laid. They would return then check the bait houses to confirm any or how much activity and/or remove any other dead mice found. Fortunately, there was no mice to be found and only 1 bait house had a small amount of bait eaten.

NW Pest Control was recommended by a neighbor. I called to make an appointment. A member of the team called before he came and gave me an estimate for the job. We agreed and he performed the service right away. He was very professional and tells it as it is kind of guy. I would recommend him.

It went very good they are always courteous, on time and very knowledable. and this is my second year using.

I paid then upfront through the offer on Angie's list. They took 2 weeks to show-up that was disappointing. Otherwise the person who came was friendly and performed the task as expected. In 4 week he came back to check the bait also.

I like that I don't have to call them back. They come back automatically and they definitely extricated the problem that we told them about. I would recommend them. But, they are a little high in price.

It went very well. I will continue to use them. I highly recommend them.

It was a pleasant experience from start to finish.

Andrew Fisher came promptly. He was professional and polite. He analyzed multiple sites over the period of 30 minutes. And he came to a conclusion that an expensive treatment was not needed.

Their attention to detail is reasurring, and the fact they do follow up is great. as I stated abouve.
