Mal Elfman's Of Waltham Inc

Unlike many other carpet stores in the Boston metro area, this store agreed to help me cut down an inexpensive area rug I had bought elsewhere (in this case, from a big chain). Specifically it was Paul Jackson who agreed to do this, and let me tell you, deal with him if you can, because he is such a huge asset to Mal Elfman's of Waltham. He makes you feel cared about, no matter how small your job, and he makes you want to come back to Mal Eflman's for bigger jobs ... He is knowledgeable, professional, caring. He warned me in advance that, while he was willing to do the cutting, there could be problems because of the low quality of my rug. This was the professional thing to do, but, in fact, I picked up the cut-down rug today and it looks great; the cutter even managed to match the existing binding, and Elfman's turned around the job in one week, as promised

Carpet was installed great and looks nice. There was some confusion about the arrival time as I was told one time and installers were told another so install took place about 3 hours later.

They immediately sent someone out to check out our carpet and give us an estimate. I thought they would have to replace it, but they assured me that it could be fixed. The crew guys came out soon after to tighten the carpet and re-sew some seams. The bumps and bubbles are completely gone now. The seams are still barely visible, but no longer pop up. They were able to fix everything in just over an hour, and without moving all of our furniture out of the rooms. They were wonderful to work with, and saved us the cost of completely replacing the carpet.

Great service, prompt, clean and careful installation. We are very happy with the end result.

They came on time and laid the floor on the day they were supposed too. They had to have the exact amounts on certain dates. I tried to buy the flooring at wholesale, but they wouldn't install it because I didn't buy it through them. Scott tried to appease me when I explained that there were things that needed to be corrected. After everything was paid in full they have poor customer service. Right now, I have spacing in between two boards of my flooring and I have contacted them 7 times to try and get the issue resolved, but they are not contacting me back. I have an answering machine where they could leave me a message and they have not contacted me back.

The young man who was sent, Brian, did an outstanding job. It was a difficult job to say the least, but Brian made it look easy. He worked very hard and only stopped once to grab something to eat. He also did a great job of cleaning up, not an easy task. When it comes time to have the floors refinished, we would only contact Mal Elfman's of Waltham because we know that they will do an outstanding job. Kudos to Peter Richard for setting everything up.

Excellent experience. Peter took his time showing me around the store, and gave me plenty of different options. Patiently explained all the options, prices, etc. NO PRESSURE. Very relaxed atmosphere. He wrote up the order and gave ma several choices of installations date. Kevin installed the carpet 2 days later, arriving exactly on time. The carpet looks great, and I couldn't be more pleased. This is the carpet place friends.

The driver of a Mal Elfman?s truck on Beacon Hill today intentionally tried to run down my wife who was walking our dogs across a pedestrian crosswalk. The driver showed his impatience with the speed at which our 15 year old dog was walking by yelling at her and gunning the throttle nearly hitting her and our 15 year old dog. After calls to the store, the management there offered nothing with regard to disciplining this reckless driver. We have reported the incident to the police. While this incident has no bearing on the quality of their merchandise, I would never shop at this merchant.

It was great. I arrived at the store and had the paint colors of my wall. The salesman was very friendly. I explained that price was not an issue and that I wanted a sound muffling carpet. He directed me to one of the cheaper options and said that it had the best solution when it came to absorbing the sound. It was an excellent experience buying the carpet but also having it installed. They arrived on time to have it installed. They even called me a few days later to see how the installation went and if I liked it.

The store showroom is well set up, well decorated and stuffed. The employee that helped me was very informative, very professional and gave me an estimate without any problem. The man that came to do the work was very nice and very prompt. Overall the service they provided is excellent

Everything went well. They had a huge selection of carpeting, and the salesman was very professional and helped us to find exactly what we wanted in a short amount of time. Furthermore, the two men who installed the carpeting did an excellent job, and it looks beautiful.

From start to finish Mal Elfmans (Fred) and Premier Floors/Signature Contracting (Scott and Tony Nguyen) were excellent! They arrived on time, worked incredibly hard, and did an amazing job. They worked on weekends and all day during the week, to ensure the project was done as fast as possible. They were very attentive to detail, highly professional, and careful in all their work. As a result, the end product was beautiful and better than I ever expected! In our 3rd floor, we had new oak patched in with the old oak, to cover a new addition that had previously been carpeted. They nicely interleaved the old and new pieces of wood, so once the floors were refinished you could not tell where the new floor began or ended. It looks really beautiful. While ripping up the old linoleum in the kitchens, they encountered some real issues which delayed the job slightly (the old flooring was insanely well-adhered). I was worried that no human could get rid of all the junk stuck to the hardwood floor. However, they persevered through a couple painfully long, arduous days and managed to remove all the old, junky flooring. The hardwood underneath looks amazing and is a huge improvement! I was highly impressed by their work ethic and commitment. In addition to doing a beautiful job on the floors, they also disposed of our old carpet and moved all our furniture two to three times in the process of refinishing different parts of the house. Our furniture and our newly finished floors were not damaged, which is amazing. I have never had movers perform such physical feats without damaging either the house or the furniture, but they managed to preserve both and refinish the floors. Tony was also nice to work with and was always around to answer questions. Scott and Fred were also very responsive by phone. I had ample questions throughout the process, and they thoughtfully and quickly answered them. Their prices were also very fair, especially considering the scale of the job. Our floors look beautiful and brand new, even though they are almost 100 years old. Though refinishing floors is a hassle, Mal Elfmans and Symphony Floors made it as easy, friendly, and convenient as it could possibly be! I highly recommend their services and would certainly hire them again! NOTE: Mal Elfman's hires Premier floors of Medford/Signature Contracting to do their floor refinishing, which is why I mention both in this review. Tony runs Premier flooring of Medford, and Scott runs Signature Contracting. Scott and Tony Nguyen are brothers who work together to complete projects seamlessly. Mal Elfman's is also excellent for all other flooring services. Prior to deciding to refinish the floors, we met with Fred a couple times to look at carpet options. He was very helpful, professional, attentive, and kind. He carefully listened to and addressed our budget constraints. He also came out to measure our house within a couple days of stopping by the store. Fred was on time and very helpful. Though we decided to refinish the floors, instead of update the carpeting, his stellar customer service contributed to our decision to go through Mal Elfmans for our floor refinishing project. We are very happy we went through Fred and will call him anytime we have a flooring project!

The process was simple and easy, carpet of reasonable quality, salesmen helpful, and the price was fair.

Elfman's proposal was significantly less expensive than the competing proposal we obtained. Elfman's salesman ("Contract Manager") Fred Richard was responsive, helpful, prompt, and efficient; and he communicated well at every stage. A significant snowstorm occurred the night before and continued in the morning when our installation had been scheduled. Mr. Richard called us the afternoon before to warn us that the installation might have to be postponed; that night, he called to say that it would be postponed; and, in the morning, he rescheduled it for the next morning. The next morning, Elfman's installers arrived on time. They were polite, efficient, careful, neat, and clean. They were good about moving and replacing four items of furniture that had been too heavy and/or bulky for us to remove from the room. Six hours later, when they announced that they had finished, I walked around slowly and inspected every inch. I was unable to find anything wrong -- which is unusual, because I am more critical than most people. They had vacuumed thoroughly, too. Bottom line: We were very pleased. We would not hesitate to patronize Elfman's again, and we recommend them highly.

My son was due to be home on leave from the Army and we wanted to re-do his bedroom as a surprise. The painting was done, and now we needed a new carpet. Dave was awesome. Since we don't live close to the Waltham store and he lives close to us, he came by and dropped off a few samples in the colors/textures we were interested in. We changed our minds a couple of times, and Dave was very patient with us. In the end, the job was done a bit sooner than we had hoped and looks great. Working with Dave was a great experience. (because we found Mal Elfman on Angie"s LIst, the removal of the old rug was free!!)

We went to Mal Elfman's store in Waltham to inquire about a carpet runner for our staircase. The employees were helpful and we ended up taking three remnant samples home. Once a decision was made, we set a date for installation. Unfortunately, the installers ran late on the previous job and could not come as scheduled. Fred called to apologize and reschedule and also offered a discount for the delay. The installers arrived on-time on the new date and did a fantastic job on our 100+ year old staircase. I would highly recommend Elfman's for your carpet needs.

It went very well. They were very responsive and worked hard to complete this job over the holidays while the apartment was vacant. Fred is very professional, responds quickly, and follows through on all his commitments. They do quality work at a fair price. I was very impressed with their service and will use them again for any flooring needs.

They were great: low pressure, knowledgeable, ready to check out alternatives, very fairly priced, quick to install, with the installation competently done. No problems at all. We will use them again and recommend them highly.

We needed the entire 3rd floor of our house recarpeted. After researching on Angie's list, we decided to go with Mal Elfman's and were not disappointed. We went out to the store and were met by Peter Richard who was fantastic. He gave us multiple different samples to take home to color match. Once we picked the one we wanted, he gave us an estimate based on the measurements we took but then came out to the house to re-measure everything himself-- we ended up saving money because of this! He was exceptionally responsive and easy to work with. We had our entire 3rd floor done in less than a week of his visit out to the house! They were punctual, professional, efficient and did an amazing job. We were beyond thrilled with the results! We will most definitely be using them for any carpetting needs in the future and would recommend them without hesitation.

From the beginning to end everything worked well. From contacting them to having them come out and take measurements, to finally scheduling the install. They let us choose and take samples and hold on to them as long as we needed. Which, as a church, you know things don't always happen fast when people have to choose something like a carpet. The only hitch, and I am not sure if this was our contractor's fault or Elfman's but in setting the schedule there was a mix up and Elfman's came to install a couple days late. But I think that was mainly due to our contractor not following up and double checking that Elman's knew the schedule. Once Elfman's was fully aware they were very responsive and came and did the work exactly when planned. So I can only say good things. And since I am not 100% about the communication between our contractor and Elfman's I am willing to give Elfman's the benefit of the doubt as everything else I have seen has only been good.

The job was scheduled to start around 9am but they were a bit delayed in arriving. I did not get a call letting me know of the delay, so I had to call back in to see what was up.The job took most of the day and multiple people were on site. The finished floor is really beautiful and this was a job very well done. One of the principal issues for me was to have the job done in a time frame of a few weeks as the apartment was going to be shown for rental and they worked very well to that schedule. So the start delay on the installation day was not a big deal. I now have a really great flooring outfit for any future work I need done.

I called this order in by phone - they had done previous work for us, and we wanted the same carpet installed in another room. I provided dimensions over the phone, and received a quote. They installed within a week! Clean, pleasant workers who were very efficient. Very happy with Mal Elfman's!

Shopping and purchase went smoothly. Staff was knowledgeable and very helpful. We were especially very pleasantly surprised to find that Mal Elfman's, aside from being a full service carpet and flooring merchant, was also a veritable specialist in better quality remnants (especially pricy wool carpeting at very reasonable and attractive prices) which were stocked in greater quantity than any other stores we had shopped for this purchase. We had decided that we wanted wool, which we needed to find as a remnant to be affordable, and Elfman's selection was unbelievable. After the carpet was installed we noticed a few problems that we did not care for, due to the install. It was the way that our problem was handled at this point, that made us even happier that we had decided to do business with Elfmans. They had us return, pick out new carpeting which they reinstalled and the final job was perfect in every way. They kept on apologizing, "for our inconvenience", yet we understood that mistakes can and do happen. In fact, the manager who was helping us offered us a $100 discount off the balance due. I told him that we would pay the balance due in full because we were so pleased with the way they handled the problem and the way the job finally came out. We told him he had lifetime customers.

They were very prompt to arrive for the estimate, which they returned in a timely manner. Their installer was pleasant and excellent! The runner was wool with a pattern. The installer (Ron) did an expert job around the turns, up the stairs, as well as following the rather odd angles we had at the top of the stairs. It was a pleasure to deal with this company. Their estimate came in lower, also, than another local, highly-rated Angie's List company.

Peter was friendly easy to work with and provided me with a price that was almost $2000 less than the competitors quote. The two installers were punctual, respectful, and did a nice job.
