Rob did an outstanding job replacing our windows. We didn't give him much to go on. He had a good idea for what would look good and we are glad we took his advice. It wasn't an easy job to do since there was a good deal rot surrounding the windows and nothing was level to being with. He replaced as much as he could with materials that would not rot and the windows are beautiful.

We are happy that we chose John Elander & Son, Inc. as our builder. Rob, the son, was easy to work with and was willing to make changes, even suggesting some that worked out well.

I got a response to my message on Angie's within minutes, an hour or so later Rob came by (on a Saturday) to look at the job and give me a quote. A few days later he called to schedule, showed up on time and did a great job!

In short, Rob was phenomenal. We had a pipe that was leaking for quite a while, and black mold and severe water damage in a wall between our bathroom/kitchen had resulted. The water damage also affected the basement ceiling. Yuck! Rob called me back within an hour of my original message to schedule a time to come by for a quote. When he came by for the quote, he stayed for a while to thoughtfully discuss the approach. He put together the quote in a timely manner, and performed the work as scheduled, communicating regularly. He put much thought and care into the work, ensuring it was of the absolute highest quality. He coordinated with many other service providers -- tile, plaster, wallpaper, painter, town inspectors -- and everything came together beautifully. I cannot recommend Rob highly enough and look forward to hiring him in the future! Thank you so much, Rob!

Rob has done just about everything for me, from building and helping to design a "ground-up" 1,000 sq-ft addition, to custom building a four-season porch, and redesigning a small bathroom, down to simple "fix-it" jobs. I can always rely on Rob to price the job fairly and honestly, have a sharp eye for detail and quality, and maintain a clean and professional working environment. He is easy to "spitball" ideas with and has often told me when an idea wasn't worth pursuing -- an admirable trait amongst construction professionals who are incentivized to keep adding work. If you appreciate an "old school" guy with subs who he and his father have known for years, then Rob is your man.

I am thrilled with the entire outcome. I plan to use Rob Elander for another project . I totally admire his professional ability and his ability to manage all the faucets of the work. Plumbing required adding zones.He even liked my dog.

We sent Rob the plans in advance, and he visited the home to complete a walkthrough. He had not reviewed the plans prior to his visit, nor did he have a copy of them with him. He told us we needed to rip open every outside wall in every room that was being worked on in order to replace the insulation, which was not part of the plans and would have added tremendous cost to the project. When I told him we wanted to limit costs where we could, he told me that wasn't possible in a project of this size. He estimated that the cost would be 50% more than other bids we have received so far, and pushed us to try to get the names of other contractors bidding on the project. He said he'd need to complete at least 2-3 more walkthroughs with sub-contractors, and couldn't even give us an estimate on when he might have time to work on the bid ("when I get through the stack of papers on my desk and schedule my knee surgery"). After the visit, we asked him not to bid on the project.

We hired John R Elander & Son to perform an attic renovation for our house. The work was performed by Rob Elander (John's son). The attic was completely unfinished and needed everything - floors, walls, HVAC, plumbing, bathroom, skylights etc. We got 7 estimates prior to choosing Rob. Rob's price was fair and in the lower / middle range of the other estimates. He also gave us tips on where to save money with design needs. Throughout the entire project Rob was present and punctual. He always picked up the phone to answer questions. He has an easy going personality. We always knew what the plan was for the day and week and who was coming. He was readily available at all times. The work was done very professionally. His subcontractors were professional. We had a few changes to our plans during the process which necessitated revising some of the work and plans and Rob was very willing to work with us during the process. We had periodic discussions on design issues and he was able to accomplish what we were seeking. The work was completed over 6 months ago now and we have not noticed any issues and are thrilled with the outcome. We would recommend Rob as a contractor without reservation and would use him again in the future.

He does a great job. He has been working on my house for years, his father built the addition on the back of the house. I have history with them. I would use them again in the future.

After a long time of trying to find a contractor that would take on our project at a reasonable cost, we finally found Rob at Elander & Sons. He was very honest and upfront about the project and all the obstacles we would face when dealing with an old home (1890), which we appreciated. His price was fair and the final cost didn't vary far from his original estimate. Communication wasn't an issue and he was always punctual. We have young kids in the house and he always took precautions to make sure they were protected from the work he was doing. After 3 months he and his crew were able to transform a very basic (crooked) room where no plumbing existed, into a beautiful new bathroom with stackable washer/dryer! We couldn't be happier and will definitely use Rob again.

Seemed like a good contractor and would have him participate other projects.

John was very knowledgeable and easy to work with. He provided as good an estimate he could based on the details in the architect plan.

He worked together with me and we have not seen each other since the construction. He took care and solved the problems we had here and I had no problem at all with him. He was punctual and he has good staff.

Rob Elander had several subcontractors working as well as his specialty of carpentry. He makes sure all the trades do a great job, and I only get one bill.

He worked off architect's drawings and made valuable suggestions based on his experience and our budget. the roof lines were very complicated and he had a great deal of patience with the building inspectors because they work only on certain days of the week. his subcontractors were timely and he managed the various changes we requested with his subs. we receive many compliments on the room. i would highly recommend him.

Excellent! Mr. Elander has been in the business for decades and his knowledge and craftsmanship shows the breath of his experience. He is wonderful to work with and all his carpenters and subcontractors are very skilled, professional and high quality. They installed the shell and frame of the dormer in one week! We would highly recommend using him as a general contractor again.

I spoke with the owner and he came over and we started going over the drawings and decided what windows to install. He was very punctual and he did all the work while I was out of town. The job looked extremely sturdy and I was very happy about the job.
