Interior Stone & Tile

Countertops and Backsplashes, Marble and Granite, Ceramic Tile

About us

Interior Stone & Tile customers are passionate about outfitting their interior worlds, and are constantly looking for fresh ways to beautify projects. Through a mix of natural and engineered stone and tile choices—coupled with cutting edge fabrication techniques—our clients are able to bring kitchens, bathrooms and surrounding areas to heights never thought imaginable. Whatever individual style dictates, custom-crafted stone is destined to become the centerpiece of any room. From the first day interior stone is installed, and every day moving forward, an extension of the client is always on display. Since its inception, Interior Stone & Tile has set out to create a self-sufficient stone company whose end product could only be influenced by its dedicated employees. By keeping all facets of the job in-house, Interior Stone is able to ensure a consistent product and timetable for each phase of every project. Many other stone companies still rely on subcontractors, open-ended quoting, and other corner-cutting tricks of the trade to help keep them competitive. Complicated practices such as these often leave much to be desired. Inaccurate lead times, unforeseen charges, and inconsistencies in craftsmanship that result from jobs passing through the hands of a mixed team are just some of the most common issues that arise. In stark contrast to this approach, Interior Stone’s mission is simple: provide clients with an up-front analysis of the work and its associated costs from the start, and arm prospective customers who may be shopping around with the knowledge they need to sidestep subpar companies in the process – because the last questions an inferior shop wants you to ask are the right ones. Everyone at Interior Stone was helpful and accommodating throughout the process. Design services were outstanding and right on target. They were quite willing to make an extra visit to partially remove existing flooring to facilitate another phase of the remodeling project. They also were happy to construct a support bracket for the undermount sink and were careful to take into consideration my preferences when fabricating the reveal for the sink. They also went the extra mile in making minor adjustments to ensure that all appliances fit well when put back in place.
Description of Work: Interior Stone provided and installed a quartz kitchen countertop and tile backsplash & floor.

Fabulous. Rich the showroom manager was friendly and had great design ideas. They have a huge variety of product. They set up a measurement/templating appointment and the tech was friendly and prompt. The installer was also. They invited me to the warehouse to approve the granite slab before cutting and install (be sure you do this anytime you buy natural stone). The install was exactly to my specifications (I needed a specific height of backsplash for my windowsill). The installer also nicely blended the joints by coloring the epoxy--the joints are barely noticeable. Their price was HALF what another Waltham competitor offered, and the service and quality were excellent.
Description of Work: Installed granite kitchen countertops, including measurement and sealing. Also installed a free sink with the countertop. They offered to set up plumbing for me, but I did this myself.

The process went slower than I was led to believe it would take. A contract was signed 7/12/2012, at which time I gave a deposit of $3700 . The granite was installed 9/27, backsplash a few days later. Initially there was poor communication. My contact was a decorator, who resigned in August. Eventually, I was given another contact, Louise, who sometimes did not return my phone calls. Although everything worked out fine, it was stressful at times. I was pleased with Bobby who did the template. The tile and backsplash installers were pleasant and professional. A mistake was made in the cutting of the bathroom granite . Although they had my old bathroom countertop for the template, the faucet holes was incorrectly cut. Bobby came to my house, made the corrections, plus drilled a hole for a soap dispenser in the kitchen, which he installed for me. I was pleased. I was grateful that I had use of my kitchen throughout the process. The countertops were removed the same day the new granite was installed. A few days ago I had a question for Louise. I left a message and she promptly called me back.
Description of Work: Removed formica countertops in kitchen and bathroom and installed granite countertops. Purchased new sinks, faucet in kitchen, vanity in bathroom from them.

Everything went smoothly, from templating to installation. Used the Waltham location, which was convenient for me, to approve the location of the cuts. Nice showroom in Waltham. Responsive communications via email. Helpful recommendations from staff. Would use them again.
Description of Work: Fabrication of granite countertop for kitchen. Price above includes cost of granite. Waltham location, not Natick.

I need to remove a kitchen island to fix the floor underneath. So I called them for uninstall/install the counter top, it was a pretty big piece of stone. The price was high for the job $750, and they are NOT responsible if the counter top breaks, the reason they gave is "because we didn't install it". We were in a hurry and couldn't find another company with good reviews to do this. We decided to use them. They don't schedule things in a timely manner, I had to make many calls and emails to get things rolling. At the time of taking off the counter top, they promised to send 4 guys, but only 3 guys did the job, 1 guy sat in the truck and didn't come in. The whole process looked difficult and very tense, The stone was large, I was afraid someone getting hurt or the stone get dropped. Not just me, another contractor from a flooring company was there too, he felt the same way. I complained about it afterwards, but their contact person didn't think it's a big deal and said they go by whatever their master installer decides. And I asked how many people they will send for putting my counter top back on, she said still 3 guys. And they are not responsible if the stone breaks when they put it back on!(This time they didn't give a reason, because they can't say "because we didn't install it" again.) So I had to risk my granite counter top again, which is worth thousands of dollars. When they came back several weeks later to put the counter top back on, 4 guys did the job. The whole process looked much better. And they took time to make sure the stone is at a good position. Overall I'd say this company is competent of what they do. But their attitude and communication isn't the best. With the high price they are charging, I think they should provide better service. I didn't buy stone from them, this might have something to do with the level of service I got.
Description of Work: Took off an existing kitchen island counter top, and then put it back on.

From beginning to end, Interior Stone's expertise in designing the perfect kitchen countertop (with a beautiful rounded overhang for a stool seating area) couldn't have been better. The ogee edge I chose was flawlessly executed in all 3 locations in my home. Interior came up with superior countertop designs that other companies couldn't even figure out, to minimize the number of slabs needed in each location, resulting in the smallest number of seams and great pricing. Each of the 3 templates they created were so accurate, everything fit like a glove, even in a tight 3 sided corner next to the refrigerator in my kitchen. They have a large fabrication facility in their Waltham location that does all of the work. After I had visited fabrication (to sign off on the location of the templates on 2 large slabs for the kitchen (to try to avoid less attractive natural flaws in the stone), the fabrication manager, Antonio, called me back a short time later, and asked me to come over one more time—because he had figured out an even better way to lay it out—by moving the template just slightly at an angle. Frankly, it would have been fine just the way it was, but Antonio is such a perfectionist, he took the extra effort to make it even better. The small flaw that I had missed was one that most people would never notice. As I said before, the quality of the work speaks for itself. Yes, I would highly recommend Interior Stone.
Description of Work: Interior Stone designed and installed a virtually flawless blue pearl granite countertop in my new kitchen, a granite tub top for a whirlpool bath, and a small granite bar counter with very tricky angles (due to both ends butting at sharp angles into the center of 90 degree wall corners). It is hard to explain, but believe me, it was a very tricky job.

They were very good. They were very helpful and straightforward. I actually hired them because the other company I used could not figure out to do my kind of job. I did some research and found that their pricing was cheaper than the other company. I would tell other members that they are a good company to use and they are honest and reliable.

In a chance conversation at weaving lessons, not one but two women in class had used Interior Stone and not only recommended them highly but also told me their showroom was less than a mile away. Immediately after class I went to the showroom and was met by Jennifer who was as delightful as could be. She told me what to do to measure which I did and then took pictures of the kitchen and emailed the information to her. When I went back two days later to make sure the granite I originally chose was the one I wanted and to leave a deposit, I came with a drawing. She had, by looking at the pictures and my word description, drawn my kitchen, effectively sight unseen, better than I had. Additional interaction with the person who did the template to the person who brought me to the warehouse to see the actual slab were equally enjoyable. And, on the day of installation, I watched Corey and his assistant expertly install the countertops, make adjustments for a very unplumb and slightly off-kilter counter area until they were satisfied. They worked tirelessly from 8 am, the exact time they said they would arrive, until 2 pm. And, the price for the work was incredibly reasonable. From my first encounter (pun intended) to the last, they were the best.

Overall the job went well and we have very nice counter-tops. They showed up to template (measure) the kitchen exactly on time. We were able to view the stone prior to cutting; we requested some minor changes in the layout to move better looking parts of the stone to more prominent areas and they accommodated us with no problems. The workmanship of the stone seems good and the sink is well mounted. The seam where two pieces of granite butt is tight and the edging aligns well at the joint. We selected a somewhat unusual stone and Interior Stone was able to get it to us quickly. We were able to see the stone both at the distributor prior to signing the final contract and at Interior Stone prior to cutting. There were only two minor negatives in our overall experience. It can be a little difficult to get attention at the showroom. In some ways this is very nice, we were able to mull over different stone options without a salesman hovering. On the other hand we had to wait a while when we showed up to a scheduled appointment until someone was available. This is, at most, a minor point. Slightly more seriously, the installers left several dings in our walls as they put in the slabs. We easily fixed these holes so there was no lasting damage, but it did happen. Overall our experience was very good and I would recommend Interior Stone to my friends.
Description of Work: Installed granite counter-tops as part of a kitchen remodel. The counter-tops included one spanning the room in two pieces, one fairly irregular shaped counter-top, and an undermount sink. Some of the counter-tops included a 4 inch backsplash.

Work was punctual and very efficient. Contertop looks lovely. They were the only suppliers, that had a whole piece of unusual granite. Other suppliers wanted to put several pieces together and charge more! Nice employees all around.
