+ 0 moreMr. Bianchi and his crew have performed way beyond our expectations. We are very pleased. We are relieved we have finally found a landscaper who is a real pro, really knows his business (he instantly understood the grading for drainage in our lot and walking around gave me advice on what to do on various problem areas, all of it sensible and sustainable--I am an old gardener and we've lived in the house and worked in the yard for 40 years, and was impressed at how quickly he understood exactly what needed to be done. We have been so worn down by having to chase people who don't follow through, we are delighted to have finally found someone who executes what he promises and follows up to make sure that everything is done well. I would recommend Giancarlo Bianchi to anyone who needs really expert landscape care. He has experience and expertise, a great crew who know what they are doing, and he manages them well. He also treats his customers with respect and does what he says he will do. So far he hasn't had to reschedule anything, but if he did I am sure he would call and do that well too. We are very, very happy with this service; we will surely continue to use this company and recommend them highly.
Description of Work: We are so impressed with this company we wanted to go ahead and write a review, even though the work is ongoing. Background: Over the last year we have had very disappointing experiences with several landscaping companies not showing up, either making excuses week after week or simply not showing up, or calling and putting us off week after week after week--such that we missed last growing season and the entire fall planting season. We were simply being pushed down their priority list. This Spring the landscaper who was to come do the Spring cleanup (extensive work) ultimately didn't show up when he said he would, and never even called--even to tell us he doesn't want the work. We have been friendly and decent with them; we cannot understand why they have not followed through on what they said they would do. I am older and quite unable to do the gardening work I used to do, so really needed this help. I'm very happy to say we have finally found a businesslike landscaper who knows his stuff and has a well-trained crew: Giancarlo Bianchi. On Angie's list people were saying in their reviews is that he is businesslike and follows through, shows up, gets the job done--that has been our experience too! His crew showed up two days ahead of schedule and worked so hard they did a couple of days work in a day, then returned today (the originally scheduled day) to make sure they didn't miss anything! We are having our entire yard re-done, so there was a LOT of work--really a backlog from years of less expert attention--extensive cleanup, pruning of several years' growth on huge rhododendrons (they did an excellent job!), limbing and cleaning up fallen and rotten branches all over about a half acre of wooded area, spreading huge piles of wood chips from previous tree removal, to make a parking area next to our driveway, spreading soil that had been piled up from stump grinding, removing an old brick barbecue, etc., etc. Soon they will return to lime, fertilize, mulch, and install a new Pearl's Premium lawn, and John has advised me on how to deal with a large violet growth and broad leaf weeds in the lawn, in prep for new topsoil in the lawn area and seeding, and scheduling everything so that it can be seeded at the optimum time. We are so happy we will finally get our yard done!

+ -1 moreI contacted many companies regarding regular yard maintenance. I don't have the time for yard work but want my property to look lovely. Giancarlo answered the phone himself and came out within three days. We walked around the yard and he described what he felt the yard needed. He listened to my concerns. I was impressed with his knowledge of the plant and tree species and how and when they needed care. I was impressed that 1: he left me with a written estimate and 2: he called two days later - a Sunday - to follow up with me. He said he would really like my business and I appreciated his forthrightness. I think his prices were equivalent to other companies I contacted. I found him the most approachable and felt that he really understood what I wanted. Gian has come by with members of his work team to review what the yard needs, and then the team comes a few days later and does it. He's been very easy to reach by phone and very willing to come back to the property and look at the yard with me. His employees have done excellent work; my yard looks magnificent. Additionally, the guys are professional and friendly. This was an excellent choice for me.

+ -1 moreThe response to get an estimate was very quick and the service was done within a few days of the estimate. Before the work was done John walked the property with one of his crew explaining what needed to be done. We are very satisfied with the work.
Description of Work: We had a spring yard cleanup, edge and de-thatch lawn, and mulch flowerbeds. The yard is close to a third an acre so lots of mulch and lawn work was needed.

+ -1 morePrompt, did more than expected for the price, professional, courteous. Quality was a B because the grass that was planted grew in pretty thinly and the top soil had many rocks. Nonetheless, I was extremely happy with the work that was done, especially considering the outstanding price. I will definitely use him again.

+ -1 moreGiancarlo came out on a Sat. morning to give us an estimate on the cost to clear all of the leaves and lawn debris from the Fall. We accepted his estimate and his crew was at our house on Tuesday (they already had some jobs lined up ahead of us), which was a great turnaround time. They were quick and thorough and cleaned areas I was not even expecting them too, like between our shed and our fence (a spot that I have been ignoring for years) and under a stand of bushes at the back of our property. In all, professional and efficient and well worth the cost. I will definitely be calling them again next year.
Description of Work: They cleared from our front and back yard all of the leaves and lawn debris that had accumulated during the Fall.

+ 0 moreJohn is probably the first contractor I've come across that over delivered on his promises. From start to finish the experience was fantastic. He always returns phone calls, is honest, and pays attention to the little things that make the customer happy. For example, John met us on two occasions at the greenhouse to help educate us on selection and pick out our plants. He got us a great deal on the plants (no upcharging). He cleaned up our yard and did the edging, even when this wasn't part of the contract. I would highly recommend him to any of my close friends.

+ 6 moreIt went great. I found Giancarlo through a friend, and was pleased to see that he gets great reviews on angieslist as well. He was completely responsive for every detail, from our initial meeting to periodic requests for extra jobs. For instance, after the hurricane (Irene), we needed some extra help with hauling/raking branches, and they were great. We also once asked him to have his guys come later in the day when a houseguest was sleeping late, and he was very amenable. I have always found that Giancarlo answers messages promptly, is responsive, and is priced extremely reasonably. Overall, my lawn looks great, so much better than last year. They did a great job with the weeding, watering, mulching, raking, etc. I can always tell when they've come, and the property looks great. The pricing is very reasonable for the work, compared to other estimates that I got.
Description of Work: We hired Giancarlo Bianchi and his team to do all of our mulch, lawn care, seeding/fertilizing/weeding/raking and also our gutter cleaning this season.

+ -1 moreDuring Hurricane Irene, a beautiful large rose of sharon tree in my front yard was nearly blown over, so that it was leaning almost horizontally instead of standing vertically. I called during the hurricane, left a message, and received a return call within an hour or two. They came the following day, while I was out, and put the tree back up straight. I don't know what they did, but I was delighted, the tree looks completely repaired. My son was at home when they came, and reported that the person who came to fix the tree told him they would not charge for it. I was impressed.

+ 0 moreJohn was the first one to return my call and he came right away to give us an estimate. He had originally estimated $1200 but returned us $100 based on the amount of mulch required. The guys worked one full day in the yard and came back on a later day spending a few more hours to take care of some additional branches and shrubs. The guys working in the yard were great and did whatever I requested them. I was not impressed with weeding part though. Also we have weed back in the mulch. But other than that everything was good. Hopefully he will take care of us the next time. We plan to rehire John for general cleanup toward the end of Fall.

The first day they prep all the area, the second a larger crew came and took care of all the tasks planned, and the third day they worked on various "details". They did such a great job, I have contracted them for the whole winter, and boy am I glad I did.
