Genove Oil & Air Co

This is our first cooling season and I wanted to make sure the furnace is safe and working properly. Making the appointment was easy and the person answering the phone was patient and knowledgeable. Technician called ahead of arrival as requested and was on time. He took the time to be satisfied that he did things right, called his office for an opinion, explained how the heating system works to me and gave some helpful advice. Very nice person.

Thus far, they have been doing well. I appreciated that they once came to the house the next day when we were about to run out of heating oil.

They've been carrying out the work and the deliveries without any issue. They respond quickly to any issues that arise. It seems like a high per-gallon cost for oil, but I don't really know whether or not it's higher than one can get elsewhere. They seem like a very reliable firm.

They have come out twice since I bought this big deal. The service has been great. They come out clean, do a tune-up. explain any issues if I have them. They come out on time when I make an appointment. They are very responsive and professional. They have come out for some small things as well. Really whenever I need them, so they stand by their agreement. The crew who come out, have been knowledgeable and patient with my questions. Been very pleased, they are a great company to work with.

Genove has serviced the heating system in my home for many years. I am comfortable leaving the door open for their service people or going off to work after they arrive. Over the years, this company has been very responsive in responding to break downs of my older equipment. For the new installation, the service manager steered me toward a more expensive unit that offered greater energy efficiency. The burner has performed exactly as described. My old burner came on several times a day to heat water, the new one only comes on once every day or two. The installation went smoothly and was finished within the two-day window I was told to expect. The crew cleaned up after themselves. I was particularly concerned about my cats getting out but the service manager told me they hadn't lost any cats so far and mine did not get out.

We have been doing business with Genove Oil for 15 years. Exceptional service every time we call them.

My husband and I had central air conditioning installed in our home. We own a very old 2 family house and live on the first floor and because we have an old house we do not have closets for any of the duct work, we called Genove Oil Co. who we use for our heating services. They sent out someone to talk to us and he said we could still put it in because they could put registers in the floors and come up through the basement. The quote was sent to us, we called and told him we would like to go ahead. He brought the electrician to make sure we had the right AMPS and found that we needed to update which we did. Genove called us with a starting date, their workers came in, they were very professional, installed the system in two days. They did a great job and cleaned up after themselves. We have been very happy with the new system since.

There were no problems what so ever. Everybody worked efficiently and professionally from getting an estimate, to the AC instillation, to a follow up visit to answer questions. I did not get a second opinion so I can't comment on the price, but it cost about what we were expecting.

He insisted on remaining on site until he was sure that the system was draining properly. He reviewed the regular maintenance and operation requirements with us and then left without charging us for the second service call. If the idea was to make sure we remain as a happy customer, it worked! We are a very happy customer. Genove will be servicing that unit in the years to come!

We called when our airconditioner broke during a very hot period. They were able to fit us in the very next day and came promptly. The technician was polite and efficient. He fixed the problem and the price was reasonable.

When we turned on our split-ductless central air conditioning system for the season, the units on one of the two compressors were not working. We suspected that the refrigerant had leaked out because that had happened once before. We called the company that originally installed the system (Pro-Air Heating & Air Conditioning) and followed up with two email messages. After hearing nothing from there by phone or email for three weeks(!), we decided to call Genove because of their good rating in Boston Consumer Checkbook and here on Angie's List. They came to the house within a few hours (!), added refrigerant, and the system is running nicely again -- just in time for a major heat wave. Thank you, Genove!

Initial meeting at our home to view inside and outside what the project would entail. Discussed what options we would have in terms of equipment selection and what would work best considering size of the home. Estimates were given about costs and length of job. Orders were placed the day the decision was made to accept Genove's bid. Within three days, the crew / team members arrived early in the morning. Team members began their work both inside and outside the home at the same time. Each day any debris was cleaned up and removed from the property. Work was completed withing two days with no problems. Switch was turned on for both AC units and the explanation of how to operate the thermostats for the units was given. So far, this was the best investment in our home in terms of repairs.

They are expensive but they respond quickly to my needs.

Received 4 estimates for installing central air system. Their price was average, but their services and professionalism was tops. Armando came by as scheduled and explained everything and provied his estimate. He was by far the most the most knowledageable and professional . We made a very good choice as they completed the job in 2 days and all the employees were very polite and professional, a true pleasure. The job was perfect and clean. Armando followed-up and and provied a second thermosat at no charge.

It has been an ongoing thing. I am satisfied with their services. I would use them again.

Efficiently serviced an old heating system - repairing bits that needed fixing and leaving alone the ones that didn't. Pricing was very reasonable - the lower grade on the price is due to cost of oil, not company value overall. Very satisfied with initial service, the responses to my {many} questions and prompt fuel service. Even the oil delivery driver was cheerful and friendly!

(My husband wrote the below because he is the one who was present when the work was performed.) I should have been suspicious when I called and they took my credit card info without giving me an estimate or any information about a service charge. They didn't tell me anything about how much it would cost over the phone, which seemed reasonable at the time since they didn't know what all they would have to do. It's my mistake for not pushing for more detail and I admit that. The technician seemed nice enough, was professional, and appeared to know what he was doing. He came out the same day I called, which I appreciated (though I didn't ask for that; it was not an emergency). After he drained and adjusted the pressure he says the gauge was reading fine (14psi). I didn't see it myself, but have no reason to doubt him. I went back to check it a day or so later and it was already right back to 20psi. Which, I can't really blame the tech for that, because you have to start somewhere. Eliminating the simple/easy/cheap options first seems reasonable, and if it took a day or so for the pressure to build back up (can't know for sure), there's no way he would have known that would happen. He couldn't/wouldn't tell me how much it would cost, saying he was just a tech and that the office handled all of the billing. Again, fair enough. We spent a few minutes discussing whether his company could do some other improvements to our heating system, but he said they'd have to send somebody else out to look at it. But then we got the bill in the mail. For $127.50. Based on the negligible amount of time spent, we have to assume this is for a flat service call charge. I say "assume" because the invoice is completely blank/no itemization, it just has the totals. (I.e. there is nothing at all in the quantity/description/unit price/amount section of the bill). If it's not a service charge (the invoice only mentions the single word "labor"), heating techs make over $1000/hr. So we have essentially paid $127.50 for 5 minutes of actual work that didn't accomplish anything. The problem still exists and although I have no complaints about the guy who actually showed up, based on their policies and prices, we sure won't be calling these guys back to try again. I don't object a service call charge in general; no matter how little time a job takes, there are plenty of costs that still have to get covered and a service call charge is a fair way to handle that. But if you're going to charge somebody $100+ just to show up, not telling them about it until they get the bill days later seems shady. So our disappointment stems from three factors: - assuming most/all of this charge is a flat fee, it definitely should have been disclosed up front - the work that was done does not represent a good value for what we paid - we're no closer to solving our problem than we were (For reference, since we just bought a 111 year old house, we've had six professionals in various fields out this week to take care of various little things like this. Only one other had a flat service call charge; it was $70 and was both disclosed and agreed to in advance.) ----- UPDATE: Rob at Genove contacted us about this review. The upshot of the conversation was consistent with their response below: they were sorry about not telling us the charge in advance, they would have come back to keep trying at no additional charge, and they have refunded our money. In addition, Rob offered to let us talk to one of their techs about what might still be wrong with the system -- after they refunded our money. (We forewent that because refunding our money was already more than fair; taking services from them too would have been greedy and unjustified.) We weren't trying to get anything from them (we didn't even call them back or complain) so this was all on his initiative. Definitely not the response of someone out to make a quick buck. Based on that, we feel this issue was a miscommunication and really should not be held against Genove Oil & Air. Use them and ask questions; don't be like us and silently assume the worst.

The crew of five, arrived on time, extremely congenial, respectful of my home, conduct was completely professional and competent. Provided excellent service.

Genove was very professional, from my first phone call to my home visit, to my follow-up phone call. Armando Proia came out to look at our house and old boiler. He seemed to have a lot of experience and expertise and made good recommendations. In the end, we selected another company only because their estimate was about $1000 cheaper (this is a really big boiler and cost us about $9000 to replace). When I called to thank Armando for the estimate and tell him that we were using another company, he was extremely gracious and told me a few helpful things to look for as the other company installed the new boiler. I would absolutely use Genove in the future and plan to contact them again for an estimate on A/C in the spring.

Technician ("Tony") arrived on time and completed inspection and tune-up of central A/C systems for two apartments. Determined that condensate pump for one system was not functioning, and replaced same. Identified electrical outlet problem that may have caused pump motor to burn out. Recommended follow up by an electrician. Was courteous, clearly explained what he was doing, and performed all work in an efficient and professional manner.

I wanted to have my heating and air conditioner inspected and tuned up and Genove offered a service to do just that. The technician showed up on time (actually 10 minutes) early and was very helpful in explaining to me exactly what he was doing each step of the way. He inspected the blower unit up in my attic as well as the actual air conditioner unit on the exterior of the condo. He made sure everything was working properly and wrote down several things I can do periodically to make sure I continue to have a properly working system.

They were attentive, reliable and organized.

I heard about this company through the Angie's List special offers email. I prepaid for the system service. The technician showed up on time, did the work as promised, and there were no additional charges.

They are very competitive with prices. We've never had any problems. They are reliable deliver on time.
