They've been terrific. They suggested a unique product without blackout fabric that's installed in tracked to help block light from entering around the shades (Comfortex). They were excellent to deal with throughout, and very likable people. I did have a problem with the product itself: the new shades don't seal properly at the top due to the geometry of my windows, leading to quite a bit of light leakage. Comfortex was awful, refusing to help find a solution. But Designs in Blinds stuck with me. The salesperson and the owner have been out several times to work on correcting the problem for me themselves. I think they're great.

Due to construction my new blinds were ruined. I am selling my condominium and NEEDED replacement custom shutters in a BIG hurry!!! I contacted Marlene the office manager,( who is a lovely LADY to work with), explained the situation and she called Mike who I believe is the owner. He was able to call up the purchase order which still had the exact dimensions of the Windows. They immediately ordered the shutters and put a rush shipping order on them. Two days before the open house Dave and Ted were here to do the installation! Yet again they saved me and have earned my customer loyalty for life!!! Thank you Marlene, Lisa, Mike, Dave and Ted!

This is an exceptional story of service recovery. I came back again to this company because of how they made things better with me. Here's the headline: I received an apology call from the owner and he expressed a very heartfelt sorry for how things had gone awry. He also gave a generous service recovery gesture by amending my invoice. He sounded terribly regretful for how things had gotten botched and wanted to make up for it. Here's the brief backstory: one window was not cut to measurement, scheduling errors occurred, and the follow up call went horribly awry. Here's the happy ending: I had thought I'd go elsewhere and now I'm staying. I just emailed them to schedule another appointment for more windows.

They were on time, efficient, fast and hauled away all my old stuff. This included my 30 year old drapes. They were very helpful in selection of the product that they offer. They are very knowledgeable of their product as well. They did an excellent job. Every shade fits perfectly and virtually no 2 windows are the same size. I have recommended their service to others.

I opted to purchase cellular blinds for our newly constructed home from Design in Blinds over other competitors because of the high rating they have on Angie's list. Their estimate was only $2 higher than one we received from Budget Blinds in Westborough who wasn't rated on Angie's at the time. We're setting up our new home while still living out of state, so how a company treats its customers was as important to us, if not more so, than price. We had an issue come up with our purchase that made us very glad that we made that a priority. I'm not saying I didn't like talking with Budget Blinds; they were very professional, too, but for buying blinds for the entire house the ratings on Angie's List tipped the balance towards Design in Blinds for me. The issue that came up for us resulted from my fabric selection for the blinds. There are so many choices and no matter what company you go with, most of the samples open up to about the size of a large index card, so it isn't easy if you don't want anything but a clinical white color which is what I was trying to avoid. I instead selected what I thought was a blind that would have just a hint of gray to it. I stayed away from the off-whites or tans because I was trying to avoid yellow tones. My salesperson, Chris, put a rush on my order so that we could have some privacy and security for the house quicker. The blinds came in under three weeks and installation went without any problems, but I was a bit taken aback at how they looked. Instead of a pale gray, the sun coming through them made them appear a very yellow-green! I kept looking at them for a couple of hours trying to get used to them and think what I could do to make them go with my furnishings that were not yet in the house, but I have nothing that would remotely work with them, so I was feeling pretty bad. I figured I was going to be stuck with those blinds forever, but when I called Chris about it, he didn't shoot me down, but instead came back out to the house to see for himself. He saw what I was talking about, and without making any promises, said he'd see what he could do with their suppliers. He and the owner of Design in Blinds must have made a lot of phone calls and while the company that supplied the blinds I first bought weren't that helpful, another company made an amazing offer for all new blinds and Design in Blinds offered to cover half of that cost! To say I was in shock at what they did to help me is an understatement. It was above and beyond anything I ever expected when the issue wasn't their fault. If my experience with Design in Blinds doesn't prove to anyone reading this that their rating on Angie's list is well deserved, I don't think anything will.

They did an excellent job. They stuck to their time, installed on time and the quality of the blinds is excellent. They spent enough time, they came home, we decided the colors in each of the rooms and what type of blinds we wanted. So, they spent a lot of time with us deciding that, which is very good. We set up an installation appointment, they give us like, okay it is going to take an hour, or two and they stuck to that. They were finished well within that time, which is very good. This is a new home and they handled everything with care. They cleaned up everything and left the place looking like new with the blinds. The type of blinds we took were a bit on the pricey side.

After visiting other blind stores and not being impressed, we were happy to learn that Designs and Blinds provides full service at a reasonable price. We visited their showroom and decided on a specific blind. They then came out to measure and install in two separate appointments. They were on time to both the appointments, and we are very happy with the end result.

It was a pleasant and seamless process. We've now had the blinds for 6 months and are VERY pleased. They look beautiful, function as advertised, and we've had no problems. Designs in Blinds was a pleasure to deal with.

They were pretty typical for that kind of a service. They provided the selection and service I expected for that kind of business. I have had drapes and shutters done before in my house, and they did a good job.

They were really good. I think they are on the pricey side. When they came to install them, they noticed there was a flaw in one of them, which I didn't notice, and they just reordered the part, and took care of it. They called me when the part came in, and that was useful for me. I would have probably never noticed there was something wrong with it. They take a lot of pride in the quality of their work.

They were five stars across the board.

The whole process was outstanding. We started in the showroom to see samples. We could have spnt hours in there if we had more time. We picked out a few patterns we liked and then they came to our home for a consultation. The consultant spent the time to give valuable opinions and feedback and was not pushy at all. In fact, we went with a slightly different product that was a bit cheaper, had a rebate offer and looked better in our home in the long run. I cannot thank this company enough. They are true proefessionals.

All appointments were kept on time. The estimate was provided on the spot. I received a couple of discounts/rebates which saved me money. Installation was quick and done with no mess.

The gentleman who came to the house for a consultation was prompt, friendly, and very knowledgeable. He measured all the windows, and provided samples of countless window covering options. He knew how the shades would look in different lighting and at different times of day. He was helpful in choosing ones that would allow you to see out during the day, with some sunlight coming in. He also pointed out ones that would become opaque to someone standing outside at night, thanks to the outdoor security lights. He also knew about UV-blocking shades for closets, and showed us materials that look higher-end for the living and dining rooms. The variety of colors and textures was impressive. We had to reschedule installation due to other work going on at the house, and they were understanding and accommodating. The installers arrived on time, were very kind, and worked quickly. They were careful and tidy, even wearing protective covering over their shoes to avoid leaving any marks on the carpets. The two men did all 26 windows in only a couple hours. They left no mess or trace behind. At one point, a third man arrived. He asked both the installers and us how everything was going, which seemed like a strong sign that they really care. It's been a few weeks now, and the shades look great!

Chris was super helpful, worked within my budget and made great suggestions on ways to save me money without sacrificing quality. He did not pressure me at all, and offered to come back again when I wasn't sure about a decision. I would definitely use them again!

I loved the end result and can only speak highly of the expertise, professionalism and the customer service! The initial at home consultation convinced me I had chosen the correct service provider. There was no "hard sell" and in fact, cost saving options that I was unaware of were brought to my attention. They were responsive and never impatient with my subsequent inquiries. The installers were just as much a pleasure to welcome to my home. Custom window treatments were something I budgeted carefully for and the prices appear to be competitive with my online research. I have no regrets about the purchase and look forward to completing the remaining windows in the not too distant future.

I searched Angie's List for several reviews before calling companies to get quotes for window treatments. The first company I had give me a bid I though was rather high and the salesperson did not appear very organized nor were they very helpful when I asked for suggestions on what they thought would work best. They just said that they could do anything that I wanted and what I really needed was a little guidance. The 2nd company I got a quote from was very knowledgeable. She provided great suggestions and the price seemed reasonable and I almost decided to cancel my appointment with Designs in Blinds and Drapes and I am so glad that I didn't. After reading great reviews on Angie's List for this company, I called the office to have someone come out and give me an estimate for fabricating and installing window treatments. The office manager delightful and friendly and scheduled an appointment to have someone come out immediately. My home is new construction and all of the windows were completely bare so I needed something immediately to provide privacy. Mike the owner was both punctual and polite when he arrived and measured every window with careful precision. He was very knowledgeable and extremely helpful in offering suggestions when asked on what would work best. I appreciated his honesty and expertise. Because I could tell Mike was a man of integrity and the price was right, I knew I could trust him with my project. The blinds took approximately 6 weeks to come in and as soon as they did, they came out and installed them. Temporary blinds were offered in the interim. Two of the blinds were slightly damaged in shipping and were not that noticeable so Mike installed them anyway so I would at least have something on the windows until the replacement ones came in which they did just when he said they would. Mike had said to call anytime if I had a problem with the blinds and so when I noticed a slight scraping of one of the bottoms of the silouettes weights against the sill, I called him to see if there was anything he could do. He said no problem and came out with 2 weeks and took care of the problem. I just love my new window treatments and was thrilled with the level of customer service that I received from this company! I recommend them highly and I will consider using them again when I am ready to do soft window treatments.

One of the guys came out to give us some options for top-down-bottom-up, cordless blinds for our living room. They had a coupon for free features (top-down and cordless), and there was a rebate on each blind for the vendor we went with. It was also tax-free weekend. So we ended up being really happy with the price. The salesman (Mike?) was very pleasant, and, as promised, not pushy. It took about three weeks for the blinds to arrive, and the installation was included in the price. The went in great, no problems. We noticed a few days later that one of the blinds had a weird stain on the inside of the comb, and someone came out that same week to look at it. It hasn't been replaced yet, but they have promised that it will be taken care of and I have no reason to doubt that. I would definitely use Designs In Blinds again.

I'll start by saying that I was totally new to thing whole custom window treatments thing--I was coming from rental apartments where I could just throw a sheet up on a rod and that worked for me for "blinds," but with this job, I contacted them to help me put something nicer up on the 20 windows of my house. So the consult included a whole lot of education about what custom blinds are, the varieties that exist, as well as the range from super simple to really detailed blinds and panel curtains. I started by emailing them from my Angie's List account--although I asked to be emailed back, they called me within 10 minutes of my hitting "send" on the email (truthfully, that's the only thing I would have changed about all of this--I really did want to be emailed back) but, regardless, they were super nice, and Lisa came out to my house a couple days later and gave me a crash course on window treatments--from Roman Shades to panels, to every kind of blind known to man, she told me the benefits of each one, let me go through fabric sample after fabric sample, as I tried to consider how they'd look in three of the seven rooms I was looking to get blinds for. She was totally patient and didn't hard sell me--I really got the feeling that she wanted me to be happy with my choices. I ended up asking for fabric samples for some panels and Roman Shades I was considering--and she sent them to me promptly within the next couple of days. Once I saw the estimate for the more involved window treatments, I did have sticker shock and wasn't ready to go that route so quickly. So, instead, I just got honecomb blinds for everything. What was nice was that Lisa was totally understanding about that and didn't try to rush me into any decisions about anything more expensive (the window treatments I'd been considering would have run about $1000 per window for up to 8 windows). I still don't know if I'll go that route yet, but if I do, everyone has been so nice & professional that I'd definitely consider using them for those too. And Lisa was also able to help lower my costs by about $500 with a rebate from the blinds manufacturer--which, of course, made me very happy (and brought the total cost to under $4,000 for 20 windows). The installation was this morning. Bob did the installation. He was friendly and super thoughtful about keeping the outside doors of the house closed, as I have a cat I didn't want to get out. (And my cat liked him, which is saying a lot--she usually runs away from workmen in the house). He installed everything in about 3 hours and was very careful to put each blind by each window before beginning installing everything to make sure they were all accounted for and that each blind was with the correct window. Every blind works well & Lisa's measurements were all spot on (and every window in my house is a different size). When Bob was done, he showed me how to use each kind of blind (some had ropes to pull, others had little tabs on them) and he showed me what to do if they ever got bunched up or stuck and how to adjust them if they ever seemed crooked). And I did get the feeling from everyone at the company that if I ever had a question in the future about how to use them, they'd be happy to answer it, no matter how small the question might seem to be. All in all, it was an excellent experience, I'd totally work with them again (and they were all very clear with reminding me that if any of the blinds get damaged, they've got a lifetime warranty and will fix them for me). I'd recommend them highly to anyone--and I was also happy that all of the reviews I read on Angie's list were accurate--since that's how I decided to get in touch with them in the first place. And I'm thrilled with the blinds--my house is really feeling more like a home now that they're installed! Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And even better, it's nice to know that when I look at them, I'm reminded of how flawlessly the whole process went and how nice & professional everyone was.

This was a great experience. Everyone I dealt with was very professional. When I'd decided on the window treatments, I was able to schedule appointments that were very convenient--first to have the windows measured and then to have the treatments installed. I will definitely use them again.
