Description of Work: Water was leaking from stackable washer dryer unit. Technition came out in the exact time frame that was given. Fixed the unit in less than a half hour and gave tips on how to prevent in the future.

I have had consistently excellent purchasing and repair service from DBoy. I would not think of going anywhere else. Dan and Barbara are the best.
Description of Work: Years ago, my Mother used to leave the key to the back door in the grill. Dan ("D " in D Boy) would come whenever she needed appliance service, let himself in, fix the problem ( always) and off he would go. She trusted D Boy then and I trust DBoy now...whenever I need to replace appliances and for repairs. I am in the midst of a kitchen remodel and it would never occur to me to go anywhere else to purchase appliances. I just spent this morning - buying my new range, refrigerator and dishwasher - at DBoy with Dan and Barbara. As usual, it was a pleasant, personal transaction and I will have my great new appliances in my new kitchen in a few days. If you are looking for quality appliances, good prices and personal customer care, look no further than DBoy at upper Main Street in Waltham MA.

Terrible! Barbara is a liar. Myself, my landlord, and my girlfriend all confirmed with her that there is only part that could cause the issue because the unit is so basic it doesn't even have a thermometer or preheat indicator light. Barbara said she would check with the tech and call back. On return call, she confirmed it was the thermostat, and even said "it's a very basic unit, and could only be the thermostat." Also said to unplug unit and that would be fine until they could receive part and send someone out. Again, I told her if it was more then $200 we would discuss purchasing a new unit because the unit itself is online for $200 now. "Yup $139 will cover it. No problem." LIE. After speaking with my landlord, Barbara sent someone to unplug the unit that was already unplugged, and then stick D-Boy stickers all over my oven, fridge and washer/dryer, and charged $139 to unplug the already unplugged unit. Then another $135 to return with the part. The part installed does not work. Even though they took my checks, they stated they would only deal with my landlord. Extremely rude when questioning why it wasn't the $139 we were quoted. Barbara was argumentative with myself and my girlfriend. The other male that answeres the phone was verbally abusive and started yelling at me through the phone while I was at work. Basically they lied from the start. Lied about the $139 covering parts. Lied that someone needed to come out twice. Lied about the cost of the return visit. And finally, lied that the repair was completed.

Lowes, Home Depot, Best Buy: forget it. We decided to go with a family-owned small business and couldn't be happier. Our refrigerator broke on New Year's Eve, so we quickly made a trip to D-Boy. Barbara was extremely helpful in researching possibilities for us, but we decided to go with a Maytag model that was in stock and on the floor. Michael, the technician who installed our new refrigerator, was punctual, smart, friendly, professional, and went above and beyond in his efforts. We couldn't be happier, and will certainly return to D-Boy for any future appliance needs. Highly recommend this business.

Everything is fine and they had to install a hose on my dishwasher. They were here for about 45 minutes. It should have been $129.00 for the service, but they brought 2 men for the job and they charged me what might have been a fair rate, but that was not what they told me the cost was going to be. I did not know what the rate was going for this type of service. I provided the hose and I spent $175.00 for the service to have them simply install it. People need to be warned about repair organizations though, where they buy parts discounted and then they mark them up for the customers. I do use this company for my condo washer and dryer though, because there is no concern for cost there.

Total labor to reinstall parts 1 1/2hrs $169 plus parts (clamp) $4.00 plus tax 1/12/2015 - Reinstalled drain pump found removed by other service provider causing unit not to drain, overflow.

Mike, the gentleman with whom I dealt, was great. He found three machines that matched my specifications and provided his opinion on each of them without being pushy which I liked. In addition, the gentleman who installed the new dryer was very warm and gracious and did a good job.

I tried to shop there, but could not. I thought the company would want to know my experience.
Description of Work: I live near the store and went in to inquire about portable washers. The sales person was on the phone on what sounded like a personal chatty call. I stood there for over 10 minutes. I actually looked at all of the inventory in the store alone and probably would have bought a washer and dryer if the person had been able to answer my questions. Instead, they hung up the phone and then asked if they could help me. I said I am looking for something portable - the person just said NO, we do not have any portable washers, and then turned away. Hmmm. I then said - excuse me, do you supply the service to deliver and hook up the machines. I was told yes, but they do not have portable anything. I said I am just asking in general, what the process is. By this time the person looked annoyed with me so I left.

My major problem with the whole repair event was that the final charge for fixing the defroster heater came to $360.00 which is roughly half the cost of a new, basic refrigerator like mine. I will ask more questions to more service providers next time and not just rely on Angies List ratings. I will also seek another repair service next time. Perhaps I will forgo service altogether and just buy a new appliance. I feel that D-Boy should have told me that the repair would be almost half the cost of a new fridge. Like a dummy, I thought the amount I paid on the first vist ($199) was going to be the total cost.
Description of Work: The technician was very competent and immediately found the problem with my Maytag refrigerator. It turned out to be a faulty auto-defrost heater He did not have the necessary part in stock so he had to return with the part & install it, which he did. He was competent & professional in every way. They were prompt in coming and also prompt in getting the part and installing it.

The oven of our 20yo Tappan gas stove quit working. The stovetop worked, so it wasnt the gas line. The serviceman (Dana) came at the appointed time, and brought an "ingition switch" with him. He inspected the oven, determined that the old switch had worn out, and replaced it all within about an hour. I received good service at a fair price. I would hire these folks again.

The man at the store was very helpful, and honest too- basically steered us away from a more expensive model that wasn't any better than the one we bought. The installed the microwave quickly and during the time they told us they would be at our house.

Description of Work: The machine is in very tight quarters and a leg had come off. We had tried to reattach it and balance the machine with only partial success. The next time we did a wash, the machine was jumping around. D-Boy made short work of getting the machine pulled out and getting all the legs tightly attached and level. Yay D-Boy.!

Recently, both my elderly mother and myself purchased refrigerators from D-Boy Maytag in Brighton. The sales people were very helpful, the delivery schedule terrific (nextday for both of us!) and shopping there was a much more personal experience than at the big-box stores!
