Tom was a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. He spent quality time during his initial visit to analyze the work, and delivered a very competitive quote. He does not communicate via email, but was courteous in all of our communications over the phone. We scheduled the work to be done soon after the quote was received which was very attractive to me. His crew of three arrived on time to complete the job and everything turned out great. I wouldn't say his work is the "best" quality, but it was a good value for the given job. I would hire him again for a similar job given the cost was competitive.
Description of Work: Tom installed a folding attic stairs in the ceiling of our second floor unit, and converted an awkward hallway "nook" into a functional closet with a stained door and frame.

We bought a house with one bathroom and needed two. The only place to put it was the cellar, and Tom designed and built it for us.
Description of Work: Tom took a chunk of our basement and added a very nice full bath. Once you're inside you've gone from a cellar to something more like a master bath suite in a much more expensive house -- got all the paperwork done and did a great job.

Once we noticed that water was coming though an exterior wall to our second floor hallway after a heavy rain back in the spring of 2011, we called Tom, whom we found on Angie's list. He came right away and did a good job explaining to us what needed to be done to fix the problem. He and Peter installed flashing to our second floor deck, added weather proofing materials to the side of the wall, and put a diverter on the roof. It has been over a year now, and we haven't had any water leak since then. They also installed a kitchen range hood, which uses a 7'' exhaust vent, rather than the common 6'' one. They did an excellent job on that. Both Tom and his friend Peter are very pleasant to work with. Their price may not be the cheapest, but we feel it is worth it for the quality of their work. We will definitely use them again for future work.

The company was contacted for their quote on an available job. They were prompt to inspect the damage. I received a quote for the intended work. I inspected the area in the attic and compared it to the proposal. After finding damage that was not listed to be repaired, I called to have the adjustment made to the proposal. The job was then performed. The quality of their work and punctuality was great.
Description of Work: Portions of a tree fell through the roof from a storm. A five foot hole in the roof. The work involved 8'x8' area repaired matching what the roof originally had. A nine foot length of the ridge and a portion of a rafter was replaced.

They performed excellent work, quickly addressed any concerns I raised, and were very polite and considerate. They also accommodated a plumber who was working in the bathroom and was delaying their progress. They completed the job early and charged exactly what they quoted me for the job. Hire Tom, you'll be happy with his work.
Description of Work: Tom and his crew painted my entire condo and patched up a section of the bathroom wall that had moisture damage. They also treated sections of the sealing that had water stains.
He provided an estimate, did the work as promised, when problems arose, as they always do, he went the extra mile to make it work and keep us happy.
Description of Work: Ive worked with many contractors over f the years, we have spent in excess of 500k on current project. Tom is by far the best we have ever worked with- ever. I could write a detailed account of our experience, but one small project and I doubt you will ever want another contractor in your home. If it has to be done, this guy is honest and a man of his word.

Tom not only replaced our deck and stairs and the stairs leading to our backdoor, but he also designed and installed an elegant pergola on our deck to support our flowering vine and to give us shade. He is true mastercraftsman with a very good eye. He has an ability to critique and correct his own work which ensures that one will be content with the finished product. He really thinks a project through and gives very good advice as to materials and look, keeping the customer informed every step of the way. This is the third project I hired him to do for us in 2011 alone, and I would gladly have him back.

See above. We did not know what we would find behind the bulging wall and Tom and his crew dealt well with with what we did find. They were up front, did what they said they would, did it all timely and on the established budget and were pleasant people to deal with.
Description of Work: Tom and his crew did a great job! They opened up a plaster wall over my living room fireplace that had developed a bulge and searched for causes, including calling in a structural engineer - with my permission - made some adjustments and redid and painted the wall beautifully. Along the way they creatively solved a problem with old electrical wiring and junctions discovered inside the wall (this is an old house) so that the situation is now up to code. They also replaced rotted facia boards around a front entrance using materials that should minimize maintenance. If I wasn't happy with something initially, Tom made sure it was done to my satisfaction. They were prompt and professional and cleaned everything up well. Best of all, they had the experience to deal with old house problems.
The person who came was Tom. He was very personable. His crew did the job very well. He did a basement remodeling for me a year ago which was a major project. We ran into some difficulties on the engineering front and he was always in the loop. He always came back to me if there was something I needed to know. He did not do things first and come and tell me later. He honors his quotes pretty much and dealt with us without any complaints. He did everything from the walls to electricity to plumbing. He did a whole bunch of things.
Description of Work: I used Cromer Remodeling couple of times during the fall to install some replacement windows.

I sent two emails over the course of two weeks and never got a response. I did get responses from two others, so I didn't pursue this company any further. Possibly, they don't use email and I should have called. I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt considering all of the other glowing reviews. However, I think if you list an email address, you should respond when someone uses it.

Tom and another worker arrived as scheduled, cleaned out the damp, rotten wood, filled the space with Bondo, and fitted a piece of aluminum to complete the repair. They made sure the new aluminum fit properly under the storm window, covered the entire depth of the sill, and wrapped over the edge. They were also careful to keep the weep holes open, so now any water will not be able to get into the frame but will run out properly. An excellent job, and no evidence of any new damage.
Description of Work: This was the second time I hired Tom because his previous work was great. This time, one of our windows had been trapping water, and the wood had started rotting. Tom came out to inspect it and provide an estimate. One extreme would have been to remove the siding and replace the entire window framing. However, he believed they could clean out the rotted wood and fill it with an epoxy (or similar material), then seal the sill with aluminum; this was a much cheaper solution.

They are excellent and they do excellent finish work. They are detailed; their attention to details is excellent. They really want to make sure that they get the job done right the way I want it done which is a nice thing. When it comes to getting an estimate, you have to push them a little bit. Other than that they have excellent responsiveness. They call you back as soon as you make a phone call. They are generally available in a pretty reasonable time frame, one or two weeks at the most.
Description of Work: I used Cromer Remodeling about six months ago. They have done almost everything. They have built us shed, put a siding on and put in a new entry way. They cut a hole in our kitchen between the kitchen and family room to make a window.

They were awful and I won't hire them. They didn't do the work and they kept putting me off. On the day they were supposed to arrive with everything ready they didn't show up and never called. They put it off and off. They were just terrible. They came off as if they were really nice and they were going to do a good job. They just kept putting it off and did that for nearly 3 months and never showed up. I just wouldn't hire them again for anything ever again. They are unreliable and dishonest. They promise things and don't follow up. They don't observe deadlines or anything.

It has been almost 2 1/2 weeks since I requested an estimate, but still haven't received it. They were really nice when they were out. They seemed approachable. We could ask them questions. He seemed thourough. Initially they did respond quickly, but I haven't heard from them ever since. They seemed very casual.

What you get from Tom and crew is a good job for a fair price, and that's saying a lot in my book! Tom took my job on short notice (I needed the work done pronto because I was about to get blown-in insulation in the walls) and courteously kept in touch with me to slip my job into his schedule. The work was finished on the promised day (2-day job) and the quality was good. They even repaired a warped front storm door for me while on the job - without my asking. I would certainly hire Tom and his crew again for similar work.
Description of Work: Tom and crew repaired 3 areas of my house that had been damaged by water from ice dams this past winter. The work included replacing drywall over plaster lath and skim-coating the surface for painting (which I did myself).

Tom is wonderful. He came out and let me know several ways the work could be done. We set up a time and he came out and did the work promptly and well. When I didn't feel that the area of the wall he repainted matched the rest of the wall exactly he had no problem repainting it to match. It was very clear from the start that he wanted his customer to be happy, and went above and beyond (the owner of the unit above mine was paying for the work and he not only spoke with me but with her regarding the work that needed to be done.). His work area was clean and you cannot even tell that anything was ever amiss on my ceiling. While he was there he noticed that the seat on my toilet needed tightening so he did that as well. The only part that wasn't perfect is that he is busy and is not always great with calling or confirming appointments when he says he will. So, if you don't mind chasing after him a bit (which I did) his work is worth it. I would definitely use him in the future if I needed more done.
Description of Work: I had water damage on my bathroom ceiling from the unit above mine. I needed an area of the ceiling replastered, textured and painted, as well as part of the bathroom wall repainted.

First, Tom was responsive in contacting us, coming over to assess the work, and providing an estimate. Second, Tom and Paul arrived on time with all the materials and equipment, and they completed the job quickly and as promised. We were completely satisfied.

Tom did a great job. He was on time for when he came over to make the estimate and when he came over to do the work. The job was done in the time frame he gave me and at the price he quoted. When I pulled out paint from the basement that wasn't the exact type of paint for the trim, he went out of his way to make sure that we had the correct paint for the job. He even did some extra touch up work on the walls just so everything looked good. I will definetley use Tom again and you should too.

It was very successful. Tom and crew were prompt, knowledgeable and thorough.
Description of Work: Tom managed the repair of a kitchen wall damaged by a leaking pipe and also repaired our 2nd storey porch roof which was leaking.
Cromer provided an estimate and met that. He and his workers were friendly, tidy and worked very carefully. We decided to install the floating floor partway through the job and the building inspector remarked what an excellent installation it was. A new ceiling was built and finished with plaster and panels in the shelves were cut to allow access to wiring above. The installation of the floor was tricky but they worked carefully to keep the seams very tight and even.
Description of Work: We were interested in modifying our basement room so our son could play soccer on one side without destroying the wall, and the adults could have a work space on the other side. I received estimates from several people but Cromer Remodeling provided the most practical and least costly option. We discussed the options and finally decided on a practical, not fancy, but attractive remodeling. He didn't press for a costly job but focused on what we were hoping to accomplish in the remodeling. The dropdown ceiling was removed, lights were installed, a wall on one side was reinforced with plywood and side panels securing the heating baseboard below and shelving on either side of the plywood "goal" in the middle. Cromer also installed a floating floor.

Tom and his crew fixed the beam, replaced the wood facing and caulked where needed. He cleaned up the area carefully and was always pleasant and professional. He clearly knows what he is doing. He was delayed getting to my home because an earlier job ran later than he anticipated, but that was OK. I know it is difficult to judge time on these jobs. Tom did a great job and the price was very reasonable. I would highly recommend him.
Description of Work: One of the support beams on my porch had rotted on the bottom and needed repair.
