Don't bother wasting your time with this guy. He came to my home to supposedly write up a estimate but that never happened, After a week I contacted him and he said he would get it to me the next day. NEVER HAPPENED. This isn't the first time he has done this if you read some of his one star reviews.

Tom was great. He was responsive fair and thorough. He didn't try to upsell me and kept me involved in the project. His team was professional and patient. Highly recommend!
Description of Work: Extensive repair to basement walls. New stair railing. Put trim on exterior door. Odd jobs like fixing a screen door, adding weather stripping, etc.
The quality of the work was fantastic and Tom and his team are very trustworthy- I would hire again and will be hiring Tom for other work in the very near future.
Description of Work: Full kitchen remodel and other small jobs
Tom did a fantastic job. We love the way it turned out. He was incredibly pleasant and easy to work with. He communicated well with us throughout the project. I have to add that it wasn't the easiest -- the tile company sold our tile (that we bought and paid for) to someone else and we had to scramble at the last minute to find something else. Tom even offered to go to tile stores on our behalf and find something similar! He did a great job and we would hire him again.
Description of Work: Tom did extensive work in our sun room. He removed the old vinyl flooring, leveled the concrete, installed tile, and replaced the sliding glass door. He also repainted the room.

I sent Tom Cromer photos of my bathroom tile with a focus on areas where grout had failed. I wanted the grout replaced and the seams sealed but had a short window of availability. Tom fit the job in two days later. His tile installer, Gary, arrived on-time, got to work immediately and completed the job in several hours. It was a relatively small job but one that makes all the difference in appearance and function! I am very satisfied with the quality of the work.
Description of Work: Grout repair/replacement and sealing.
Tom is a highly skilled contractor to work with, and all the guys on his team are excellent. This was only a small job, but Tom fit us into his schedule, and made sure the work was done well and in a timely manner. The crew showed up on time, did the work well, cleaned up, and were pleasant to deal with. I don't think you can ask for more than that. We look forward to working with Tom and his crew on future projects.
Description of Work: Replaced exterior, rotted window sills and some trim on three windows
We are so happy that we found Tom Cromer, Otavio, Andreas and Gary of Cromer Remodeling! The entire experience went so well. I can't say enough good things about this company and the people who work for it. Tom was very prompt getting back to me when I made the first request for an estimate through Angie's List, coming the next day for the free estimate. He, and his staff were friendly, knowledgeable, had great ideas that I hadn't thought of, and offered me cheaper ways of doing things if I wanted. On one side of our new basement stairs they suggested 2 new bookcases facing out from the stairs which doubled as a barrier so nobody could fall over that side of stairs and provided more storage area. If I didn't want to pay for the bookcases they would have made rails like the other side which were less expensive. I opted for the bookcases which look fantastic, brighten up the unfinished basement and give us additional storage which we needed. I thought it was a great suggestion! The new stairs and rails also make you want to go down to a previously not inviting unfinished basement. The old stairs were in bad condition, very narrow and the railing was scary if you had children in your house. I thought their prices were very reasonable for the amount of time and scope of the projects. They showed up when they said they would or kept in touch with me if something unexpectedly happened with their schedules. I was never inconvenienced. The people who work here are very conscientious, professional, kind, pleasant and want you to be happy with the outcome of your projects. The work is of outstanding quality. You feel you can trust these people and leave the house if you need to do something during the day. They cleaned up after their work was done and did a few extra jobs that I had not planned on when I made the arrangements with them. If you need work done around your house, I strongly recommend that you contact Tom Cromer. My husband and I plan to contact Tom when we need additional work done. Otavio did a lot of the work himself, and we appreciate his strong work ethic and the results of his finished work. We are very grateful to Tom and everyone at Cromer Remodeling for an excellent job.
Description of Work: Repaired and painted water damaged LR wall; constructed new basement stair treads, new railings, wood posts, and new wooden bookcases; repaired bulging basement wall; painted basement walls, ceiling, rails, bookcases, posts, risers in stairs and stained treads; repaired termite damage on a basement joist; installed new doorknobs and locks to make French Doors close correctly in the LR; corrected gaps between chimney and shingles;added foam to prevent water going into bulkhead.
Tom and his crew were punctual, worked carefully and efficiently, and provided creative solutions to a variety of problems. All of them worked neatly and were a pleasure to have around.
Description of Work: Replaced molding, rotten clapboards, broken windows, and moldy insulation. Painted, fixed flahing around the chimney, and fixed an electrical outlet.

Tom Cromer was great to work with throughout the project. He personally came by the house several times before the project started to discuss the details of the work?often in the evening or on weekends to accommodate my schedule. He did a lot of the work himself and watched his crew's work closely. When the project was done he did several "final passes" with me to ensure I was happy with the results before collecting the final payment. Tom was easy to talk to and always easy to reach. He endured several project changes and delays caused by my electrical contractor without a complaint (or a charge), even canceling a family vacation to keep a few of his projects on track. The team that works for him are talented, friendly, and were very respectful of the house. From the beginning, Tom and his crew were very collaborative and amenable to all requests I made. He wisely challenged a few of my ideas when he was convinced I wouldn't be happy with the results. At one point he even did some extra work to show me the solution he thought I'd like better. He was right each time. He never nickel-and-dimed over the details of the project and was completely transparent over the expenses incurred at my request (structural engineer, trash removal, etc).
Description of Work: Knocked out load bearing wall between kitchen and dining room. Put in new hardwood to match old and refinished floors throughout entire house. Replastered dining room ceiling and walls associated with the knocked out wall. Built walk-in closet in master bedroom and replaced a window.
Tom Cromer is highly personable, knew what he was talking about and gave us a reasonable proposal. His workmen were also very nice guys who knew exactly what to do and who worked hard doing it. They also accommodated my requests promptly and with a smile. All in all, it was a great experience, and I would certainly think of hiring them again should the need arise.
Description of Work: They repaired winter-storm damage to two units in our condominium building. They repaired stained walls and ceilings, checked for mold (which we didn't have), sanded and polyurethaned warped floorboards, and did a small repair to the roof.

I was very pleased and impressed with this service. I contacted Cromer via email on Angies List. He emailed me back and was there the next day to do an assessment of the damage done to our kitchen due to a water leak. Tom was upfront and honest with his assessment and he told us what needed to be done in order to fix the damage. Although it was just an assessment he took his time to look at the area that was affected before he gave his feedback. We felt very good after he left and knew what we needed to do.

Tom and his crew of staff and subs did a great job and were a pleasure to work with. The price was the lowest bid but the quality and service were excellent. This was a job to renovate a kitchen for a home our church provides for the pastor and the timing was challenging because we wanted the main work completed while the family was away for an extended period. Tom kept the project on schedule (technically, it ran one week behind by the end but this was because significant problems were uncovered when the old floor was removed; if you adjust for the time to address these issues, the project ran on schedule). Because this was a gut remodel with new lighting and plumbing service locations, and switching from baseboard heat to a toekick in the island, there were a lot of details and subs to coordinate. In addition, the centering of the window over the kitchen sink and fitting the cabinets perfectly (uppers and lowers) so that everything lined up perfectly was a fiddly job. The window was installed while the walls were down to the studs, yet when everything else was installed, the centering was precise to within 1/8" (in other words, perfect), and the cabinets, upper and lower, all lined up perfectly with the window and were centered/symmetrical around the window as well. Through all of this Tom was a pleasure to deal with, professional, flexible, and clearly very experienced and knowledgeable. He also installed the bay window in such a way that the countertop ran behind the sink up to the window instead of a windowsill, and the levels lined up perfectly for a very attractive and seamless look. I have seen this online but I'm not sure that all contractors know how to do it well. I was impressed that, when we had to ask for the pocket door to be reframed so that a family member who uses a walker could get through the opening with more ease, the re-work was done without complaint or impact to the schedule. In the same way, when there was a misunderstanding about which trim was specified, he had his team pull some trim and do it over again, no charge, and no bad feeling. Very professional. I tell my friends that you can have all the paperwork and boilerplate in the world (and because I was coordinating this project as a volunteer for my church, I had a detailed contract, scope of work, etc.), but there is no substitute for good old-fashioned pride in workmanship and customer service, and Tom has both of these qualities. Even more impressive, I first met him 7 years ago when he did some work on my own house, and all of his staff are the same people. I think it says a lot about him that he's kept the same same team for 7 years and this gives me a lot of confidence in using him again.
Description of Work: Full Kitchen Remodel including new window and back door, continuous countertop to windowsill, toekick heater in peninsula, IKEA cabinets, new floors, insulation, charging station in peninsula, remove partition wall, add pocket door.

Tom and his crew performed a gut-renovation of a ~400sf basement area. They were great throughout the process: 1) Tom was flexible in that I wanted to do ther demo work myself, and to use my own electrician for the lighting. 2) He cheerfully allowed me to monitor the job closely. I did this because I enjoy learning and occasionally providing my own "expertise". Some contractors I've worked with in the past don't appreciate that "expertise". 3) He adhered carefully to specs from a structural engineer, regarding framing work on a load-bearing wall. 4) Fit and finish (new closets, skim plaster walls) were great. 5) Price was very competitive. I had hired Cromer Remodeling about 5 years prior, to reinforce a deck. My experience then was positive, leading my to utilize their services again. I'll call Tom first regarding any future work...
Description of Work: Finishing basement: framing new windows, installing new door and reinforcing frame, new closets and wall surfaces, etc.
Tom was amazing. From the very beginning until the very end, he responded quickly and specifically to all of our questions and concerns. We talked with him about what we wanted and let him know that we had a very tight window in which to have to work done. He assured us that he could get the work done in that time frame and gave us a very reasonable quote for the work. He completed the work today, on time, and at the exact price point he quoted. Our living room looks great! On top of it all, Tom is nice, easy to talk to, and introduced some great suggestions. I had another job that I was hoping to get around to eventually, and I have asked Tom to give me a quote on it. I look forward to working with him again.
Description of Work: Tom took down a load-supporting wall and replaced it with a single support to open up our living space. This required some electrical work. Then, he redid the baseboards (with our room, that was a big job) and painted so that everything looked like it belonged together.

Cromer Remodeling was very responsive and flexible. Their pricing was lower than two competing "handyman" companies I contacted. Our small house has been remodeled and repaired in many different ways since the first part of it was built, before the Civil War. Tom Cromer did an excellent, cost-effective job designing and implementing new solutions to our old problems, without requiring us to completely remove or redo all the old repairs. I was especially grateful for his response to an emergency that occurred after the work covered by his original estimate was completed. After I swept an interior wall of our fieldstone foundation, previously hidden behind the oil tank, the wall began leaking for the first time since we bought the house over 20 years ago. Tom responded to my text messages on a Saturday night, came to look at the wall on Sunday, and had it repaired by Monday evening. His additional charge for this emergency work was extremely reasonable.
Description of Work: Re-installed/replaced interior-wall fiberglass insulation that had been removed when a basement oil tank was removed and a new gas furnace was installed; installed new plywood covers over former foundation window openings; repaired plaster, removed wallpaper and painted floor to ceiling in two attic bedrooms with rough, wide-plank painted floors; waterproofed fieldstone foundation.

Tom Did an excellent job on this project. The project involved erecting walls and installing doors for the units to create a common stairwell separate from the units of a rental property. He paid attention to very detail down to helping us get the locks for the doors and carefully preserved existing architectural detail. He even took extra time to make sure that on an area of the wood floor that was exposed during the construction the stain matched the existing floor. We had tenants living in the units while the work was being done. It caused a big mess for the tenant on the second floor. Tom was extremely courteous and the tenant only complimented us on what he did. She never complained. The third floor tenant caused problems for no reason and Tom never stopped being courteous despite their behavior. Part of the cost was due to having to make last minute changes to keep the 3rd floor tenant happy. We plan on remodeling the third floor apartment in the Summer and if Tom's price is reasonable I'll simply hire him. The quality of the work is excellent and he is great to work with. The people who worked with him on the project were very experienced and capable.
Description of Work: He created an enclosed stairwell so tenants on the third floor could access their apartment without walking through the apartment on the second floor.
