Critter Control of Boston was very prompt and effective at removing the squirrels that were damaging my home. They also did a professional installation of screening to prevent future squirrel damage. I highly recommend Critter Control.

He was very thorough, searching in crawl spaces and found evidence that suggested mice, not squirrels, which was a cheaper service charge. This was very effective- two days later we heard scurrying in the wall again, and then, snap! no more. sorry little guy- but we didn't want you in our walls. We have a contract with another pest company (who isn't liscensed for larger animals, like squirrels which we thought we had) so i am dissappointed that our other pest company didn't figure this out after 2 visits to investigate- But i have nothing but good things to say about our experience with Critter control. We will probably discontinue our plan with the other company now that i see how much more thorough and successful Critter control was.
Description of Work: service call to investigate scraping in the walls- we suspected squirrels (as our other pest company had suggested) but Peter from Critter control found evidence of mice in crawl spaces so he set traps for them.

There were initial hurdles in communication, which ere not the company's fault. Once we were able to connect, Critter Control did a great job.
Description of Work: Found where a raccoon was entering our house and ceiling, then trapped it, made multiple daily attempts to see if any other animals were entering the building, and created a barrier to prevent any further entry.

He did a thorough inspection, confirmed that we didn't have anything in the house currently, and identified all the area where things could get in. Very professional and he put my wife at ease. We requested and received two quotes for follow -up work - sealing gaps, cracks, etc. to ensure that nothing returns and I found his prices to be very fair. I couldn't be happier for the work we received. Icing on the cake was that we got a check in the mail a week later for our Angie's List discount - something I had forgotten to ask about but clearly they value customer service.
Description of Work: We found something flying in our house one morning (bat? bird?) and my wife freaked out. I called a few places and Critter Control came out to do an inspection. Of the three providers they called, Dan was the only one to answer his phone and booking an appointment was easy - still waiting on those other two to return my calls!

A touch hard to reach initially, i used their fax number; i then called tehm, left a message, and they were propmt and efficient; fax not the right mode to communicate with them, rarely in teh office. inspection, traps placement (cages), removal of critters, no more noise in teh soffit, at teh third trip they put a sheet metal patch on teh entry hole in the side dormer of this townhouse they correctly extended the Angie's list 10 % discount extremely professional, punctual, efficient, only compliemnts to extend only caveat, that should convince this review is not done by a family member, 75 $ to put a sheetmetal patch on a 2 palms size hole, a bit expensive for teh work and finishing. That is the ONLY reason I gave a B in quality. Price wise, 600 $ for 3 visits in cambridge from Watertown, i would have to define "Fair", probably market price. That does not make it an "Excellent or Good price". A Registered Nurse would have to work a night 12 hrs shift on overtime to make that amount of money. It is obviously a very subjective assessment. And equally obviously, byassed like every assessement is by our own experiences. Overall, flying colors! THks Angie

Response from Critter Control of Boston
Thank you for your review and for your business, I'm happy were able to resolve the squirrel situation for you. I'm sorry you feel that cost was high for the trapping. We actually totaled 4 visits to your home, which is slightly less than our average. We provide the service for a flat rate because most of our customers appreciate having a fixed cost. Because we do not charge more when a job takes more trips than expected, we cannot charge less when they go quicker. If you have further concerns with our pricing, please feel free to give me a call anytime. I am pleased that you thought highly of the rest of our service as we pride ourselves on providing the absolute best customer service and most professional solutions possible. Thanks you again for choosing Critter Control Dan Master Owner

I had a squirrel in my basement and tried on my own to trap it myself to no avail. Critter Control helped me twice over the phone before I hired them - they calmed my nerves about actually going down the basement and tried to let me know what I was doing wrong. To minimize costs (which was a concern to me) I wanted to try to solve the problem myself if I could. I found the hole the squirrel was coming in and it took days to successfully patch the hole as the squirrel was pretty determined to live in my house! Unfortunately, once I patched the hole the squirrel was trapped inside my basement and I just could not deal with it any longer on my own. I finally called and hired Critter Control and honestly, I should have just done that from the start. They set traps and caught him by the end of the day. The next day they removed him from the house. They also suggested things that could be done to secure my house. Some of these things I can do on my own and some I will hire them to do (price above is an estimate as I still have to determine the extra work to be done). Overall, I am very impressed by the level of service. They were prompt and very knowledgeable. I would hire them again for sure. I do think the price is a little high but, as another reviewer stated, the price isn't that much different then competitors. In the end, it was worth every penny!

They were fine. They were here probably last fall I don’t remember exactly. Frankly I don’t remember the approximate cost of service. They are standard rate which was reasonable. The job went fine. They were good about follow-up and mission accomplished. There are no more critters. Actually they came at two part thing we think although we can be 100% sure that squirrels may have been getting access and for sure we had many raccoons in the backyard for a while and although there are always this little moral thing about animals and about potentially killing animals that really don’t belong in urban settings so we went with the removal of I think it was four raccoons.

Eddie from Critter control was fantastic. The company owner (Dan, I think) gave an estimate over the phone. Eddie (technician) was out the next business day and put 3 traps up on my roof near the access hole and left a detailed note and checklist about what they were doing. He came back every day that they live baited the traps. I continued to hear squirrel noises even after the first week, so they said no problem, they would just leave the traps up longer. This happened over Christmas, so all in all, I had traps up for a little over 3 weeks. On the weekend or holiday, Eddie did not come out which is totally fine - people need time off too. To trick the damned varmints, they would leave the traps open over the weekend so the squirrels would get used to the traps. Then on Monday they would bait them and set them to enable the trap and we would always catch a lot on Monday. 3 weeks later, the squirrels are definitely gone. Better yet, Eddie patched the hole ($150 cost) and then put caps on any vents coming out of the house (dryer, bathroom) so that squirrels and birds could not get into them either. Great service overall and they solved my squirrel problem. The price is a little expensive, but no more so than many competitors and even cheaper than a few of them. I guess I just did not realize how expensive pest extermination was.

I have unfortunately had to use Critter Control of Boston several times for the same problem over the last 3 years. Don't know what it is about my house but Racoons keep ripping new holes into the attic to live. The first year 2 sets of racoon parents and 7 pups was sharing the attic space. Next year one or two came back, probably to start their family. Now I hear them again. I had an awlful experience with Watch All Pest Management. Watch All said what a better deal they were because they don't charge per animal just a flat rate per week and what ever they catch they catch. This seems like a better deal unless you have more than one animal. Watch All only puts out one trap out at a time and you Watch All your money tick away along with the week you paid for. They caught one animal didn't re-set the trap for a day and refused to go into the attic. Critter Control of Boston does charge per animal but they caught all the animals in one week. They put out 4 traps at once and caught 4 animals the first day. Re-set the traps the second day and re-baited them and caught 4 more animals. The last three took a couple of days to catch. They then went into the attic to a**** the damage, covered the entry point and worked with me regarding the price because of the large quanity of animals. I wish I didn't have to use them but since I do, they are quick to respond. I have sent Dan the owner an email and before he responded back he had already sent his staff Eddie D. out to set traps. Eddie came back the next day and found the entry point and hopefully I will get these pests out in a week.

I hired a contractor to repair a hole in the roof fascia. When he inspected the hole he noticed that squirrels were coming and going through the hole.I called an exterminator who referred me to Critter Control. My contractor called and someone from Critter Control came to the address and sent a quote with several options for the repair. Critter Control installed traps and removed 7 squirrels and repaired the hole. CC was professional, did the work as promised and I would highly recommend the firm.

The Critter Control tech returned on day two to check and add bait to the trap and noted that there was at least two or three animals involved--He set out two large traps and re-baited them and told me that he would be back every day to check on their effectiveness. He was back, and over the next two days he had trapped a total of three squirrels. He said he would be back to check again the next few days and to set out a final trap until he confirmed the squirrels were gone and the baited traps empty.

It went quite well. They were able to remove the racoon with no problem. The racoon got back in due to the hole not being closed and they came back and took him out for free. They then made sure the was covered. I did have to pay a little extra for that service but it was worth it.

From the start, this company was very professional to deal with. Set up the appointment quickly, and on the day of, they called when they were 15 minutes away. Service was quick and professional. Our attic louvre is very high, and I was worried they wouldn't be able to get up there with a ladder, but they handled it with ease. I had totally forgotten about the Angie's List discount, and 3 weeks later, they sent me a letter saying that they forgot to give me the Angies List discount, and included a check in the mail for what the discount would have been.
Description of Work: We had some wrens creating a nest inside of our attic louvre. Critter Control removed the nest and eggs (there were no birds inside the attic at the time), and put a screen in the louvre so in the future other creatures can't nest there. While they were here with their ladder, they also inspected our house for other possible entrances. They ended up putting another screen where our stove vents out, and they also inspected where our dryer vents out. Our dryer vent already had a screen, but while they had the ladder there, they cleaned out the dryer vent for us (which, unbeknownst to us, was very clogged).

The guys that came were very personable and thorough. I would call them back here anytime! I was very impressed with the whole experience.
Description of Work: I had noises behind the wall in my kitchen and called them to check it out. They found that birds had been planning on nesting in a vent that led outside. They cleaned out the space and screened it in so I will no longer have any feathered friends visiting. They were great. They even gave us a 10% senior citizen discount, and their price was reasonable to start with!
Description of Work: There was a dead bird in the attic. I suspected I knew where the hole was where it got in the house. They did an inspection of the whole house inside and out to see where the hole(s) was/were that could let animals in the house. It turned out that was the only point of entry. They removed the dead bird. They fixed the hole by putting in a piece of aluminum that was painted brown to fill in the hole. That way, it was the same color as the brown wood. As this in the eave under the attic roof on the third floor, it blends in quite nicely unless one looks very closely. The other two companies I called would only put a screen mesh in to fill in the hole, which would not look very good.

We had a minor mouse problem in our basement. By the time we called Critter Control, the mice had pretty much moved out, leaving nests and grossness in our insulation. Critter Control removed insulation and left bait traps. They then came back for a few scheduled spot checks to see if the bait had been eaten. We did not smell the bait, we did not find any dead mice, nor did we have any additional clean up. Critter Control took care of everything. At the time, we were preparing to put our house on the market in May and have since moved out of the area. I believe we spent around $200 total; I don't have the paperwork any longer. Critter Control was professional and had empathy for my wanting nothing to do with a mouse problem. They took care of it all. If we still lived on the east coast and had a need for this type of service again, we would definitely hire them.

We had a good experience with this company. We heard something scratching around in our bedroom wall, and when I banged on the wall it actually hissed back at me! It sounded larger than a mouse, so we called Critter Control and they sent someone right out. They told us it was, in fact a mouse, and laid some traps in out attic/eaves near the wall where we hd heard it. They also conducted an exterior examination to determine where it had entered the house. Based on the service we bought, the technician came out a few days later and checked the traps, removing one mouse. Even though we chose not to pay them to close the potential entry points around the house, they, the tech left me wife with details on what he had found, and some caulk-like material to use when I plugged the holes myself. We have not seen or heard a critter since, so we are happy with the service provided, and that they provided it in a cost-effective way that solved the problem.

I really like this company. Dan runs the show and he's a great guy to deal with. He's smart, friendly, easy to talk to and trustworthy. I've been reluctant to write a review simply because I don't want to jinx the work they did .... We had 2 bats invade our living space in a 4-day span. After removing both myself, I decided to pay to have a professional examine the exterior (roofline) and give me advice on solving the problem. I had another company make a visit and they performed a quick investigation of the attic, then a visual inspection of the roofline from the street. From that, they told me we had a colony of bats living in our attic and estimated $1200 to get rid of the bats and prevent them from coming back. I had Dan out the next day. He spent over two hours at my house. He performed a far more thorough investigation of my attic. He said he found no evidence of a colony living there. He took out his ladder and examined the roofline fairly thoroughly. He checked out at least 3 different places in detail. He said, his best guess was that a full bat exclusion was probably not necessary and would cost us about twice as much as we needed to spend. He was incredibly knowledegable and honest about the whole thing. He could easily have jacked the price up, but he basically admitted it was an inexact science and that given the lack of real evidence of a colony and the lack of obvious evidence of entry-exit place, it seemed like overkill to spend $1200+ ... he advised we undertake 'reasonable measures' and thought it would solve our problem. If it didn't, he said he would apply the money we spent toward a full exclusion later on. We followed his advice and a week later a tech came and applied screens to all the vents on the house, and filled gaps along the roofline and dripedge. Only time will tell if they found the entry-exit points, but if we do have another bat in the future, i wouldn't hesitate to call Dan back and ask him to do a full exclusion. In other words, I really trust him as a businessman and person and think not only does he know what he's doing when it comes to bats (and mice for that matter), but that he operates in a fair and honest way.

My service call was immediately answered on a Thursday; and while the company couldn't make an appointment until the following Monday, the owner offered to waive the $100 emergency fee if an emergency occurred over the weekend. The company's techs were prompt, professional, personable and kept me informed during each step of service. They offered opinions regarding securing my chimney and other vents that could be breached. The same personnel came by on almost a daily basis during the week, checking for any signs that the mother raccoon had returned, and installing the protective chimney cap, screening, etc. I would definitely recommend Critter Control of Boston.
