I found them on Angie's List. They were very highly rated. I used them a couple of months ago. They checked the traps every day. They patched the racoon hole, and they patched several holes where birds could get in. I could choose a flat rate or a per racoon rate. I chose the per racoon rate. Each racoon was $85. It seems like I spent a lot of money, but they did patch up a lot of holes. I thought that charge was reasonable. They did a good job. I sure would use them again.
Description of Work: I use Critter Control for animal removal services. They set traps for racoons, and determined where the racoons were. Thy caught 2 racoons, and repaired about 5 holes.

The squirrels had got into our roof and across the ceiling in our bedroom. They came in and trapped the squirrels and got them out until there were no more squirrels and they closed the roof up. They tightened it up and everything so that they couldn’t get in again. It was the second time and they found 5 squirrels. They were excellent and I would use them again.

We had bats in our attic, called Critter Control based on recommendations from Angie's List, and spoke to Dan. He gave a detailed description of what the bat exclusion remedies would be based on what we described and provided pricing details. Ben came out and discovered four bats, diagnosed where they were going in and out of our attic, installed bat one-way exit doors, and cleaned up the bat mess in the attic. He came back for a follow-up and determined that the bats were indeed gone. My wife asked if the exits could be kept for another week, just to make sure, and he had no problems with that. The doors have since been removed, the bats are gone, and the attic is clean. Overall, an excellent job!

Dan was terrific. He answered the phone even though I called after hours (I was so relieved!), and came out the next morning to take a look. He gave prices over the phone before coming over, so I'd know what to expect. He actually discovered the bird nest in the eaves when he was doing the overall assessment (I was not aware of the bird nest myself), and then provided estimates for every line item of work that he identified. He explained each work item very clearly, including the urgency of each item, and was understanding when I said I needed to first clear work with the other trustee in our condo association. Once we agreed on a subset of work items, he and his crew did exactly what we had agreed on and trapped the squirrel within a day. After waiting (with fresh traps set) a few extra days (to make sure there weren't additional squirrels lurking about), they patched up the entry points, and we have been squirrel-free ever since. Note: for the soft-hearted among us, they do inspect the traps every day and lock them open over the weekend so that no squirrel is trapped in the cage for too long. I really hope I never need to call him again, but I do recommend him without hesitation to anyone with unwanted visitors of the critter persuasion. (Not sure he can do anything about human visitors...)
Description of Work: Trapped & removed a squirrel that had chewed through a 3rd floor roof rake board and was preparing to hunker down in our roof. Evicted a bird from, and screened a vent hole in our eaves, and installed screens on 2 additional vent covers.

We selected Critter Control to get rid of some squirrels we heard our attic. We chose them based on Angie's List reviews and proximity to our home. They were very prompt in responding, explained in detail their plan of action, and gave us daily updates on the status of the traps. After the critters were gone, Critter Control installed chimney caps to keep them out. Very professional outfit, I'd use them again.

One of our contractors found an opossum living in the crawl space underneath our enclosed porch - a space which opens to our basement but is too small for humans to enter. We called Critter Control, and they were there the next day to deal with it. They quickly found the opossum's nest in the crawl space. They first attempted to catch it by hand, but it escaped and hid in the back of the crawl space. The Critter Control people found where it had been going in and out of the crawl space - through a hole under the back neighbors' stairs. They boarded up the passage between the crawl space and our basement, installed a wire mesh along the side of the neighbors' stairs, and left a trap baited with marshmallows and tequila mix (!). By the next day, the opossum had been caught in the trap, and the Critter Control guys returned to take it away. They said that by law they had to euthanize it. They left the trap and checked it daily for a few more days, to make sure there were no other animals. While they were working with us, the Critter Control people also did an inspection of the outside of the house, to make sure there were no other spots that animals to get in. They concluded that the rest of the house was secure from animal intrusion, though I would have liked a more thorough inspection of the inside to determine if there were rodents already in the house. We haven't noticed any other critters yet, so I guess it's okay. The one thing they could have done better was communicate with our neighbors better. I had told the neighbors about the opossum and the fact that Critter Control was coming, so they were prepared somewhat, and I called them to tell them about the trap that CC was installing, and gave the Critter Control people the neighbor's contact info. Still, the neighbors complained that the Critter Control people didn't communicate with them very well, and also that CC had used screws to put the wire mesh on their stairs without telling them, and that this left screw holes. In any case, it seemed a necessary measure at the time.

I found Critter Control on Angie's List. I chose them because of the good reviews, proximity to my home and experience with animal (not just bug) infestations. I was delighted when someone answered the phone because I was concerned that the company might not be open as it was President's Day. Because Dan was going to be in my area, he said he'd try to stop by between 1 and 3. I was impressed that he arrived right after 1 p.m. and covered his shoes before walking into my house. He was polite, knowledgeable and professional. I was given the 5% Angie's List discount and told that should the problem arise again within 30 days, a return visit would be covered by the $279 inspection charge.
Description of Work: Having heard loud chirping in my attic for about 24 hours, I contacted Critter Controlto to do a pest inspection. As it turned out the noise stopped between the time I called at 8 a.m. and when Dan came around 1 p.m., but I wanted to make sure there weren't any dead animals or birds in my attic. Dan's inspection didn't uncover any birds or animals, though he did see mouse droppings. He also said it was possible that whatever got into the attic might have gotten out through the louvre vents. On this visit he put down mousetraps and later this week someone will return to screen the louvre vents

Perfection. They did what they said they would do at the price they quoted and they got the job done. They were also professional. They even left post it notes about the type of squirrels they removed each day on my door. A+++++
Description of Work: This company is highly recommended. We had a busy fall. First, we had bats in October and spent quite a bit of money and aggravation trying to get rid of them. We hired another company ( based in Canton ) because they could come first. We were so disappointed in their services, that in December when we had squirrels we decided to try another company, I am glad we did. (The other company charged a fortune, was very unprofessional and I disliked the owner). Although we had used them, I would never do business with them again. ( I am not submitting a bad report about them because I paid for two years of service and don't want to have problems with them.) Critter Control called me back quickly. The man, I spoke to was professional. He came out gave a quote and information and came back the next day. Every day someone came and got a squirrel out of our house. On December 31st, they even told me they would come on the 2nd and put in an extra trap. Each person was a complete professional. They did the job as expected. I cannot really put into words the appreciation I have for Critter Control. I would recommend them 150%! If every company did work in this manner, it would put Angies list out of business.

Overall this went well. We chose critter control because they focus on controlling the population with snap traps and sealing entry points but don't go to the extreme of setting poison baits. We didn't want the latter since we didn't want the carcasses attracting insects or being found by our young kids. The initial survey uncovered a bunch of entry points, some of which I had already started to realize were a problem but some of which were new. The survey also found a bunch of areas, especially in the attic, with mouse droppings where we set traps. I then went back and cleaned out the eaves to get to some more areas and set some more traps. In the end, the traps caught 5 mice (above the 12 I had caught before calling critter control), and we couldn't hear or see signs of any more. They then came back to seal all the holes with caulk and steel wool. So, we seem to have the issue under control, now.
Description of Work: We had critter control help with a mouse infestation, doing an initial survey and setting traps and then coming back to perform a mouse exclusion which included filling about a dozen possible entry holes around the foundation that were found at the survey.

I contacted another company as well, but they never called me back. Critter control were a bit on an expensive side. They were extremely responsive and extremely good. They came out the next day at 9 in the morning. They have good reviews. At one point, I could actually hear the squirrels chewing on the house frame. I wanted them to be out quickly. I didn't want them to leave any mess. I was willing to pay more money and get it done fast. No other reviews indicated that they were a little pricey. They were excellent. They were fantastic. They were a little on the higher end. They did a great job. They came right out when they said they would. They were great. If I have a pest problem and want to fix it rapidly, I will not call anyone else.

The squirrels where coming in through an attic fan in the ceiling. So they put a cap on the fan with a one-way door. The squirrels could leave but not come back in. They came back, took away the door and filled it up once the squirrels were gone. They cleaned out the fan area and the nest and everything. My experience with them was very good. They put a chimney cap on there as well. They were fairly responsive and they communicated well. They were willing to deal the fact that I didn’t want the squirrels exterminated and that I just wanted them excluded, even though that wasn’t their recommendation. They were flexible in terms of plans that they could work with. The only downside was that, I paid their invoice and I requested for a copy for my own record of the paid invoice. I have not got that yet. They are a little bit slow on the paper work. That is my only complaint but I am happy with the work that they did. I don’t have anything to compare their price with but it seemed reasonable.

Dan Master and his team with Critter Control of Boston did an EXCELLENT job. Dan's initial home inspection which we arranged for on a weekday morning was quite thorough. We really appreciated the time and energy he put into explaining EVERYTHING so we truly could learn and understand the extent of our squirrel infestation, how it is best addressed, and why the remedies being proposed were worthwhile for our particular building and circumstance. We also appreciated the time and effort that Dan put into evaluating whether or not we had a bat infestation problem, or any signs of one in the past, and his detailed explication of why we didn't have a bat problem made sense and addressed any doubts we were harboring. Dan seemed very engaged in walking thru the entire property and fielding any and all questions or concerns that we had. We all felt that he was there primarily to address our concerns as a prospective customer -- that our issues came first and he was patient throughout - nothing felt rushed. He's very good at explaining things so that the average novice truly understands what he's talking about. Coming out of the initial inspection, we felt that we truly understood his plan, his strategy and his tactics -- and the timeline he quoted for us was adhered to -- he was realistic in what he put out and allowed enough additional time for various contingencies (like making sure a certain part was in stock, or allowing enough initial time to trap and remove squirrels before sealing up their entry points). What we also appreciated was how Dan and his colleague, Ed, kept us updated throughout the project. Every few days we'd either receive a post-it "Progress Report" posting on our front door, or we'd get a phone call, informing us of what progress had been made and alerting us to what remained to be done and when it would get done. When we had a few questions that needed addressing, Dan was always prompt in either fielding our calls or replying to any messages we left. Throughout the project, we always felt like an important customer and indeed we're now a satisfied customer because our building is rid of squirrels, is sealed off from future invasion, the job was completed on a timeline as promised, and we have a 2-year guarantee against any squirrel entry from the "Soffit Level" up, which covers the entire infestation area that had to be sealed off from future squirrel invasion. We heartily recommend "Critter Control of Boston" to any homeowner in the Boston area looking for a way to get rid of animal infestation in their midst. Critter Control -- i.e., Dan Master and his team - do a first rate job.
Description of Work: Our 3-unit Condo Building (an 1896 Victorian) had squirrels nesting inside the interior walls. We hired Critter Control to: 1. Trap and Remove all Squirrels in the Home ($599) 2. Seal-off 8 Entry Points in our dormers and gables where Squirrels were currently or once were entering and exiting @ $75 a seal-off ($600 total) 3. Install a Stainless Steel Chimney Cap to prevent entry of Squirrels thru this portal ($325) 4. Install 3 fan vent guards @ $35 each to prevent entry of squirrels or nesting of birds via exhaust fan vents ($105 total) 5. Install a new screen to seal off the top of a 3rd floor Pot Belly Stove Chimney ($75) Critter Control quoted us all of the above and then granted us a "5% Angie's List Discount" for having found them thru Angie's List. So the total we were charged for all of the above was only $1,619 (an $85 discount off the $1,704 total quote for all of the 5 above itemized jobs). NOTE: We paid $265 for an initial hour-long detailed building "walk thru" inspection and estimate to determine the extent of the squirrel infestation, establish what needed to be done to address it, and to explore whether or not we had any bat infestation as well (we did not). The inspection for bats included a detailed examination of our building attic. The full $265 was applied towards paying off the $1,619 quote for work done - so it was not "extra". The $265 "walk thru" inspection was requested by us to thoroughly understand the extent of our squirrel problem and to put to rest our concerns about bats. It wasn't required by Critter Control, but had we chosen NOT to use Critter Control we had agreed in advance to pay for the $265 extensive "walk thru" and estimate that we ourselves had requested.

See above, very happy with the work performed.
Description of Work: I contacted Critter Control because we heard scratching in the house, and saw a few mouse droppings in the basement, and actually saw/captured two mice within 6 months. Critter control came out, did full and thorough exterior and interior inspections, going so far as to crawl under my porch and in my roof eaves/attic, two places I just couldn't bring myself to go into!!! They found lots of holes outside and bitten/chewed areas I was completely unaware of. They set traps all over the basement, garage, attics, etc. and filled all the holes. Also put endcaps on my downspouts cause I heard noises in one, and when I found little chipmunks running out from under my porch, screened the entire bottom to keep them out, and put in a one-way door in case anything was trapped in there. Dan and Eddie are great, Eddie isn't afraid of anything and they both do great work! I have not heard any scratchings, nor seen any mouse poop, but I need to be realistic and say I think this is an ongoing battle, but I think we've made some good progress!

I heard loud sounds coming from my chimney and saw bandit eyed raccoon staring out of the chimney. Called on a Thursday and was given an estimate of $599 for trapping and removal of all animals. Ben came first thing Monday morning and explained the process and proceeded to inspect the flues and climbed up on roof to look. Found that there was sign on animals in both of my flues, but no animals present. He setup trap in chimney and also on deck where there were signs of the raccoons climbing up and onto the roof. He also gave me estimate of $400 for custom cap to cover all three stacks. Explained that if there were no animals caught, the cost would be $279 for the inspection and setting of traps. He returned the next two days and left note reporting that no sign of animals were found. Last day traps were removed and the cap was installed. I guess the raccoons heard they were coming and evacuated. Ben explained that they were probably getting big enough for the mother to push them out and move to the trees to escape the roving males. Overall, they were very punctual and courteous, taking the time to explain all the details and getting the job down in the promised time.

Dan came for an estimate and explained the whole procedure to me. When I agrred to have the work done Dan told me who would be comig by and what to expect. Ed came by and put up one way traps which workrd really good. I believe they captured a squirrel the first four days. The key is to be patient which is something Dan explained to me. It does take time. When they felt that they captured all the squirrels they began the work. They patched the holes where the squirrels were entering. They began repairing all the other work which Dan suggested I get done. In doing so they found some other things which they fixed as well and did it at no charge to me. I am very happy with the work done.

A mouse infestation is unsettling but Ben was very calm, answered our questions, and even chuckled at our pathetic jokes. He was respectful in going through our house during both visits. And the treatment worked! Yea and phew! $645 is a lot money but worth every penny.
Description of Work: We heard animals scurrying in the ceiling above our dining room during the evening hours. We called Critter Control and they were both helpful on the phone in suggesting what might be the cause--mice--and they sent someone right away. Ben determined that it was indeed mice. He did a thorough search throughout our house and garage and placed traps. And then returned a couple of weeks later to remove the traps.

Apparently squirrels love our house. We've only been in the house for 3 years and this was the third time we found squirrels living in our soffits. The first 2 times we did simple one-way doors and then patched the holes, but we've grown tired of this so this time we wanted to do it right. Critter Control came out the day after I called them, diagnosed the problem, told us what they could do to decrease likelihood of future squirrel invasions, and then they went to work. They diligently checked the traps every day, the guys were pleasant to deal with, and they knew their stuff. I'm hopeful this will be the last time we deal with squirrels in our soffits, and if it is the "good not great" price will have been worth it.
Description of Work: Critter Control set a squirrel trap outside the hole in my soffit where the squirrel damage was. Came by to check the trap every day for 4 days to ensure squirrels had exited my house. Closed up the main hole as well as other penetrations along my roofline that could be easy targets for future enterprising squirrels. Covered holes with metal which should prevent future squirrel damage. While they were up on the ladders, they also removed some debris from our gutters which was appreciated.

The service technician, Ed, came out the very next day. He was prompt and very pleasant and professional. He put out Have a Heart traps which he left for 4-5 days, coming by daily to check for critters. None were caught, but after his first visit, I could no longer hear any squirrels in the space between the roof of the first floor and the floor of the second floor porch. After this, he installed a 25 foot metal strip about first floor porch to seal around the top of the gutter. Apparently it is common for the squirrels to try to get in somewhere safe to build their nests at the time of year. But they are gone and I'm quite happy. Ed also did another small job installing a fan vent guard.
Description of Work: Squirrels (or the mother squirrel) had decided to build a nest between the floor of my second floor porch and the roof of the first floor porch. There was a space for them to get in. I called Critter Control to get rid of it or them.
