CHARLES RIVER MOVERS

We got an estimate for $650 they ended up charging over $1000 and damaged multiple items. They took very long to pack the truck and I really don't think they were trying to be quick nor efficient. I was asked to call due to my complaint and talk to a specific guy. So I called, the owner (I think, idk who he was and don't care) was extremely rude and also lied and said he overheard the whole conversation between my bf and the guy who booked us, he said my bf said we had more stuff than we first listed, which he did not said. First of all, when we were finding quotes by phone they got us with a good deal that is not real, however they wrote down on the paperwork a much higher estimate and said not to worry that it won't get to that length, but it did. So yeah, horrible company

Because they moved a 700 lbs weight gym for us it is very well known brand names, commercial gym. They were terrific. I would use them again in the future.

The two men that did the move were very quick and professional. They took care of fragile items and everything arrived at the new location in one piece. Even the gentlemen I spoke to on the phone to book my appointment and confirm were extremely helpful and courteous.

Setting the move up was simple and straightforward, and I was pleasantly surprised at the estimated total. The men arrived on time, moved very quickly and yet carefully. There was no language barrier (something I've experienced with other movers), and there was no damage to anything. They listened to my directions, checked with me if there was a question, and were very professional. The total was a little less than the estimate -- almost never happens. An "A" experience all around. In fact, I used them again three months later when I returned home. For the second move, it was a different team of 2 men. Evidently they had a friendly competition going with the team who had moved me in October, and the second move went even faster -- but no less carefully. So I spent even less on the return move. Would definitely recommend this company.

AWESOME!!! The moving team (Kevin and crew) showed up on time with two trucks. We gave them the tour of the rooms, and boxes. They came up with their strategy and executed with ease! They wrapped EVERYTHING, even the kitchen chairs! That was the biggest difference I saw overall, they actually cared about your stuff like it was theirs! They moved my flat screen TV with ease! The most amazing part... there were NO scratches or damages to the walls in the place we moved from (old house with tight stairs). They moved everything with ease, even my table saw and foosball table!! They beat the estimate by two hours!! In the end I was completely satisfied and would definitely recommend using Charles River Movers for your move! They price a little higher, but the price is completely worth it! I am happy to say NOTHING was damaged during my move and that makes the price worth every penny!!

Joe, the owner, was fantastic when he arrived to conduct the estimate. He was very through and answered all of our questions. He was also incredibly respectful of our home and belongings (even removing his shoes when he saw the sign on our door asking people to remove the shoes on entry). On the day of the move, the movers arrived on time, were professional and pleasant. They quickly wrapped the items (such as the couch and mirrors and mattresses) which required wrapping and ensured that they would be just as clean when they arrived in our new home. They managed to easily maneuver all of the large items through tricky twists and down and up stairs. They treated all items with the utmost care. They finished ahead of schedule and even put together our bed as an extra touch. I would give this company the highest possible recommendation. They are fantastic!!!

My husband & I recently moved from an apartment into our first house. After researching many moving companies in our area, I selected 3 to come take a look at our things and provide an estimate. From the start, Charles River Movers were the most professional and thorough. Upon walking in the door they handed me a list of references and the company's insurance certificate. They never claimed to have the lowest prices but they did promise the best, most professional service. Their quote was slightly higher than others we received, but we chose Charles River Movers for their professionalism. AND WE WERE NOT DISAPPOINTED! On the day of the move, the team of 3 men showed up 45 minutes later than promised, but this is the only negative thing I have to say. From the minute they came into our apartment, they were wrapping and taping furniture and hustling the entire time. No fooling around. These guys worked hard both on the move out of our apartment and the move into our new house. They didn't even take a break for lunch and finished the entire job in less time than we were quoted, which ultimately saved us money. They even helped us figure out a way to get our queen-sized box spring upstairs when it wouldn't fit the conventional way. It's clear that this company takes pride in its work and I would recommend Charles River Movers to anyone. We will certainly use them again.

They were several hours late and they nipped the furniture. Everything you want in a mover they don't have. They moved a house full, so it was a lot but they were terrible. When we had our things in the storage unit they were all fine. When they were through, everything was destroyed.

The person stayed too long, bad-mouthed his competitors (while saying he would never do it), bad-mouthed his client le (?!), and was generally a slimeball. He wanted to come back in person to give me the written estimate. I got them to fax it to me, and it was much higher than he lead me to believe in person ($6,000 for a 2 bedroom apartment).

Movers showed up 30+ min late (not a big deal if you're moving a house, not great for a small job & the first job of the day). When they did show up, the first thing two guys did was use the bathroom. Then they realized they didn't have a moving dolly or shrink-wrap to protect the item or tools to break it down. The move itself went okay. Luckily I had my own dolly which they used when dropping off. Then the bill showed an additional charge for travel time to the job-site (never mentioned when I booked on the phone with Tom). I spoke to the owner, Joe, who wasn't friendly. I pointed out that I was never told about the travel charges & wanted to pay the original quote. He implied I was stupid for not knowing this was standard practice & said, "so you're trying to steal from me?" I pointed out that they were late, didn't have shrink-wrap, & had to borrow my dolly. After a heated exchange Joe said, "pay whatever you want, just don't call me ever again." Done. I'd suggest you do the same.

THE MEN ON THE JOB WORKED VERY HARD, BUT THE OVERALL MOVE WAS VERY BADLY MANAGED. AS A RESULT THE MOVE TOOK FIVE DAYS TO COMPLETE, DAMAGE TO ITEMS, COST MUCH HIGHER THAN QUOTE, PLUS UNEXPECTED EXTRA COST OF $600 TO HIRE CRANE TO GET LARGER ITEMS IN THROUGH WINDOWS. MOVERS SHOULD HAVE KNOWN OF THIS NEED IN ADVANCE, AND USING THE CRANE FROM THE START WOULD HAVE SAVED THE MEN COSTLY HOURS OF CARRYING STUFF UP STAIRS. MAKE SURE THE MOVER HAS CHECKED AND KNOWS THE SITUATION AT THE DELIVERY END AND FACTORS THIS INTO THE ESTIMATE. IF ANY STAGE IS OBVIOUSLY GOING TOO SLOWLY TO MEET TIMELINES, INSIST THEY GET IN EXTRA HELP TO STAY ON SCHEDULE, AS ONE MISSED DEADLINE CAN THROW OUT THE WHOLE SCHEDULE.

THEY GAVE US AN ESTIMATE OF $1500 FOR THE MOVE. THIS WAS NOT COUNTING THE PACKING. THEY CHARGED US TWICE AS MUCH AS THE ESTIMATE. THEY DAMAGED ALMOST EVERY PIECE OF FURNITURE THAT WE HAD. THERE WERE THREE TELEVISIONS THAT WERE STOLEN WHILE THEY WERE IN THEIR CARE. THEY DID REPLACE THOSE. BUT THEY HAVE NOT TAKEN CARE OF THE FURNITURE THAT THEY HAVE DAMAGED. THEY HAVE BEEN TOTALLY UNRESPONSIVE. I HAVE GIVEN THEM A DEADLINE AND THEY HAVE NOT MET THAT DEADLINE.

VERY REASONABLE PRICES. REMOVED A VERY HEAVY COUCH AND STEREO. MOST COMPANIES WILL NOT DO THIS TYPE OF WORK. WONDERFUL!!

DAMAGED WOODWORK, WALLPAPER, WALLS, FURNITURE. UNDERESTIMATED TRUCK SIZE NEEDED, DOUBLING NUMBER OF TRIPS. ONE OF MOVERS LEFT THE JOB BEFORE IT WAS FINISHED. HARDWARE FROM FURNITURE WAS TAKEN BY ONE OF MOVERS AND NOT RETURNED AS OF ONE WEEK LATER. NO STRAPS USED. TRUCK USED DID NOT HAVE FUNCTIONING HEADLIGHTS, LIMITING IT TO DAYTIME USE. IN HASTE TO GET TO ANOTHER BOOKED JOB, LEFT GARAGE CONTENTS FOR US TO MOVE OURSELVES.
