Description of Work: We used Calnan to insulate and re-insulate several sections of attic and under-roof space. They were very knowledgable, professional and accommodating. We would recommend them highly.

Description of Work: We had Rob Calnan come in for a consultation to insulate the attic of our home which had severe ice dams and extreme heating costs. Due to the fact that we have a furnace in our attic (a very bad idea in general), he could not do the easier job of simply insulating the attic floor, and had to do work to insulate at the attic roofline level to make the attic a conditioned space. (At least one other insulation contractor also recommended this route). During the consultation, he listed a number of options at various price points and gave us a lot of information about him, his crew, and details about his techniques. Though his price was higher than some competitors, we decided that his solution would help our home the most. | |Though it took him some time to actually get to work on our home, the crew was responsible and polite, kept the place clean, and did work promptly. Once work started it went reasonably quickly, and they were thorough - to the point of checking a sealed space that was initially not in the estimate and then electing to spend an extra day of work to make sure that crawl space was insulated as well as the rest of the other spaces. | |There were some minor drawbacks - I had to call back a number of times to confirm the dates when Mr. Calnan was able to come to start work on our house. I also had to clarify with him the process for getting the work inspected by the city. That said, he gave us his personal cell phone number after the consultation and responded whenever I called, which is much better than many other contractors. | |Though this winter was milder than the last year's winter, so far I can say that despite the fact that we heat our house to a higher temperature than last winter, our heating bill has gone down at least 30% for the past two winter months. It hasn't snowed enough to see if ice dams have returned yet but I am hoping that that problem will be solved also.

Description of Work: We had Rob Calnan inspect our insulation needs and advise. He put in insulation and we had him put in R-60 which he recommended. He is also advising some work our our outside soffets (?sp) for good airflow in attic which is great as well. His sons work with him and left our place looking neater than when they came!!! |Would and will definitely use again.

Description of Work: Sudbury Valley Trustees is a nonprofit land conservation organization. Our office is a large converted farmhouse. Calnan's Energy Systems insulated and air sealed our basement. It made a noticeable improvement. We are now scheduling for our knee-wall attic insulation and in spring we will have our exterior wall insulated by Calnan's as well.

Description of Work: Air seal basement

Description of Work: Blown-in wall insulation and insulation in attic floor.

Description of Work: Insulated all exterior walls of two family home of three floors. Used Class 1 Blown-in Cellulose insulation. Did a superb job of communicating from start to finish about all details of the job, including nature of materials used. Some of this work can be messy. A small area on 3rd floor was accessed from inside house. Rob and workers(son and one other) left house and area around house in immaculate condition. I will be looking to them for some other window/door work soon.

Description of Work: Robert spent considerable time with me on the phone to help me out in a jam AND DIDNT EVEN GET PAID for his time. Extremely helpful and creative to provide an insulation solution on a job that grinded to a halt (I needed R38 with 2X6 rafters). I cannot say enough about his creativity and the time he spent with me walking through the solution.
