Boston's Best Chimney

They were nice and did a good job. They seem like a smaller company that is personable and great to work with. I would use them again.

I called them for an inspection, they suggested the caps and repointing. The caps were installed within a couple of weeks. The repointing had to wait for warmer weather, but once it was spring, they came within a week or so. Both times they arrived promptly and finished in the time they said. We had some minor mixups over the billing that were worked out, and the repointing was messier than I expected, I thought they'd clean up the drips on the side of the house. But overall, they did a good job, and it was hassle-free.

Excellent! Totally satisfied from start to finish. The communication was very good right from the beginning in setting up an appointment for an estimate. They arrived right on time on the scheduled date. They stuck to their estimate--did a very good job--workmanship on new chimney very good. They also included a stainless steel raincap for no additional charge. The crew was very easy to have around--good with pets, and did a fine job cleaning up debris at end of project. They also inspected the chimney down to basement level and recommended a new liner in 3-4 years. After finishing the job they returned to install a clean-out door at basement level at no charge as they noticed I didn't have one. I will be using this company for annual chimney inspections. Highly recommended!

Pleasant, clear, and courteous evaluation. Patiently answered questions and compared the options available. Provided clear, written estimate with options. Showed up and finished at expected time, left the house in clean condition. Work appears to have been done well, and chimneys look to be in much better shape now. My one complaint comes from handling a weather-related delay. The original scheduled date had to be cancelled, for good reason, but I expected to be contacted for rescheduling as soon as the weather cleared. Instead I eventually had to call and then wait an additional month for the new date. Having accepted a deposit, I considered it the contractor's obligation to reschedule as quickly as practical.

We had already had another company come out and look at it and they told us that it would need to torn down and removed all the way down to the roof line. It would have been really expensive to do that, so we wanted a second opinion. Boston's Best Chimney actually went up on the roof, took a look at the chimney, and really investigated the problem. I really appreciated this considering the fact that it was dangerous to go up on top of the roof. He was very honest and straightforward. This company was able to save us a lot of money. I was very satisfied with the service that I received from this company.

They were very friendly and accommodating. They did an excellent job of cleaning up their mess after they were done working. I would recommend them to anyone that need this type of service.

Excellent. Two gentlemen arrived at appointed time. Examined the chimney inside the house and from above the roof. Told me that I didn't need a sweep. Gave me various advice and answered number of questions. Suggested adding a chimney cap and gave me an affordable price. Will follow up with chimney cap as soon as I finish other projects in the house.

They were friendly on the telephone and came exactly when they said they would. On the first visit they did the pointing, the crown repair and put on the cap. They left a note saying the flashing needed work and quoted both tar and leading. The work looked good. About 24 hours later, we realized that they left the water running in the back of our house. (I told them I was upset because the water was running on our patio and it some pavers were loosened). I called and they were very apologetic. They offered a discount on the flashing. I was satisfied with this. They came and finished the flashing.

I was pleased with the service. They did a good job and I would recommend them. They were friendly, on time, and answered our questions. The price was reasonable and the work was done well. I would say they do great quality work.

TO PROSPECTIVE CLIENTS OF THIS COMPANY: IF YOU NEED THEM TO GIVE YOU A PROPOSAL, MAKE SURE THEY COME EQUIPPED TO INSPECT THE SITE UP CLOSE. DO NOT TRUST A PROPOSAL AND ESTIMATE MADE AFTER LOOKING AT THE CHIMNEY FROM THE GROUND.

Steve (and his team) were exceptional. He was highly professional and an excellent problem solver. The chimneys were in varying states of decay due to lack of use and attention by the previous owner. In addition, some of the angles made it very tricky to line. Steve determined the correct approach and made it happen on time. This was no small feat because he had both strep throat and laryngitis. But because he knew our entire contracting schedule depended upon him finishing the work as scheduled, he showed up and made it happen, certainly to his own detriment. His professionalism and work ethic were exceptional.

They were very friendly, came within the appointed time, and were very knowledgeable. They kept my report on file until I was ready for them. They had very good communication. I had estimates from another company and these people came in lower; I believe their prices are quite fair and I will use them again.

Overall a very good experience. They showed up on time on both occasions, cleaned-up well, and were very professional. They did not tell us we needed a new chimney liner, which would have been a very expensive job.

Boston Best was prompt in sending someone to work up an estimate, and Matt was both very skilled and helpful. There was a delay in receiving the estimate and in receiving some of the parts, but we were kept informed. Once work was underway, the quality of the work was excellent (and our chimneys are high and difficult to access). I highly recommend this company for the professionalism of their work and their communication with the customer.

These guys did a great job. they explained what we needed and didn't need and did not try to sell us on additional services that were unnecessary. Their clean up was not great and they did leave some discarded supplies in our yard, but the actual work was great. We had gotten an estimate from another Angie's List chimney specialist who said we needed to knock down and replace the entire chimney from roof line up (we had just purchased this place and had not used the fireplace yet). BBC recommended that we see how it worked for us before spending that kind of money. It has been drafting fine and we are glad we went with BBC.

Fantastic!! We had 3 different contractors look at the project, and Boston's Best was the most impressive: knowledgeable, professional, fairly priced. From their receptionist (Alexandra) to the head of the repair team (Dana), we got courteous, prompt, efficient service. And the work itself is beautiful! Plus they were fast, friendly, and cleaned up everything.

A great experience! Brandon came out and provided a detailed written estimate of the work to be done. We scheduled a date for the work to be done. Brandon and Mike came out on time. They were at the house for several hours. They worked hard while being friendly and professional. They even replaced a few bricks for no charge!

They did some minor work in the basement for the chimney, but the work had to be re-done.

Boston's Best Chimney took my call and set up an appointment. They called the day before the day of the appointment to confirm it and even called the day of the appointment as they were driving to my home. They went over the situation and then removed the liner. Once it was done, they were able to see that I needed to have a new liner installed. I set up an appointment next month to do so.

Great! They were very responsive, friendly, timely, and the quality of the work is great! We were impressed when they came out for the estimate, they wrote up the estimate on the spot and also had an extensive list of references on hand. They were responsive to all our needs, even for things that they didn't have to be.

Great! They came out and spent at least 1/2 hour with me looking at my concerns. At the end of the day they said they wish they could do some work for me, but the work did not need to be done, and it would be a waste of money to do it. A very honest and hard-working guy came out and didn't even charge me for his travel time. I will definitely be using them in the future for all my needs. Other companies need to take notes from honest and hard-working businesses like this.

It took 2 months to get an appointment. The day of the appointment, they cancelled. They were supposed to reschedule the appointment and didn't. I called and rescheduled, but it took them 3 weeks to come out. The day before the appt., they called, left a message, and tried to cancel the appointment again. They said the time needed to change and they could come between 2-4 instead on another day but I needed to call them in the next 20 minutes to confirm or the appointment would be cancelled. Since I got the message in time I called them back. They showed up on time this time and were pleasant however they did not want to sweep the chimney that day (even though this was what I scheduled) instead they tried to sell me on a chimney liner much more expensive than needed. After insisting they sweep it, they only did one flue (we have 2)and refused to fix the fireplace lintel that day and wanted to do it when we had the liner installed in the other flue. They did not return our calls.

Found Boston's Best on Angie's List and was able to make an appointment for two weeks out, which was good as it's October and chimney companies were pretty booked up. They inspected the chimney and installed a lock top damper, as the old damper was rusted out. Easy and professional to work with. Price was fairly standard.

It was unclear if the previous owner of our house had ever had the chimneys cleaned. Boston's Best was prompt, polite, cleaned up after themselves well, and gave me good advice on how to properly start a fire in my new fireplace since the chimney is so high.
