Founded by Robert Sinclaire over 75 years ago, the company started as a small heating oil company and has evolved over the years into an indoor solutions leader for comfortable, healthy, and efficient living. We are proud to say that our company is still family-owned and operated and has been passed down three generations. Sinclaire Home Services specializes in four home service areas: heating, air conditioning, heating oil and plumbing. Our HVAC team are experts in the design, installation, and maintenance of heating and air conditioning systems. We are experienced in working with both residential and commercial customers. Additionally, we specialize in indoor air quality and home filtration. Our Fuel division provides customers with home heating oil and premium diesel fuel. We also offer automatic delivery, fleet fueling, budget payments, and bulk drops. The Plumbing team is skilled in virtually all aspects of plumbing. We are skilled in fixing water leaks, installing water heaters, dishwashers and toilets, performing bathroom and kitchen remodels, replacing garbage disposals, and everything in between. Even more, we are experts in gas fitting, washer and dryer installations, gas fireplace service and maintenance, electric generator installations, and other advanced services. Each of our divisions is highly trained and experienced in the latest technologies specific to their industries. It took two days (glad I had it done in the summer). The old boiler had corrosion and was leaking. They removed the old boiler, installed the new one, and did quite a bit of repiping. It's getting harder to find technicians that know how to work with steam systems. So far this winter, the system is working well - no banging or leaks. They came on time and were very professional and cleaned up afterwords.

This professional longstanding company saved me a some money by suggesting that the fujitsu is equal to the mitsubishi model. The work was neat and efficient and the system works and looks good inside and out. This is a large home and it was quite cold here on some very hot days and the heat works nicely when it is not cold enough to fire up the furnace. I believe I contacted them at a very busy time of year because the time between the first contact and final agreement(which required three site visits) and the start of installation took quite some time. The delay was mostly because the electrician they use was not available right away to do an estimate and they had some trouble initially getting in touch with him(vacation then busy) I decided to wait for their recommended electrician since I had chosen Sinclair based on a couple of personal recommendations I had received(from a neighbor and a plumber) and they also had good reviews on Angies list. They did give me the option of getting my own electrician which in hindsight maybe I should have done. However, once the work commenced it went smoothly and was done well. (including the electrical) We used it this fall.(2015). I would recommend that you start the process of gathering estimates for this type of system while there is still snow on the ground.
Description of Work: Install a Fjitsu Mini split heating and air conditioning system in a colonial without ductwork. The electrical hook ups are a separate expense.

Smooth. Technicians were all respectful and efficient. Cleaned up every day. Small adjustments needed once heating season arrived were addressed immediately - one on a Sunday night! I would highly recommend John and his staff.

Tech troubleshooted 3 different areas of my furnace, to no avail until I remembered a couple years ago an issue I had with a switch located behind the second panel door. The one that clicks just before gas flames are produced. He checked that, tightened it and the gas flames ignited. As he was leaving, he asked if I was quoted any other prices by Bob other than the 89.00 fee for coming out, I replied no. I understand a cost may have been involved for parts but this was not the case. He asked me how long he had been there. I told him an hour. He said it really should cost more because of the time troubleshooting. I asked him how much more, he said at least a couple hundred. I told him I wasn't aware of any other additional time costs other than the 89.00. He then said (as God as my witness) "well ok, you want to just stick to the 89 then?" Ya, I think I will! Gave him a check for 89 and he went on and on about how the first half hour should cover the initial 89 and anything after should be more because of all the time troubleshooting. If this job is 289.00 an hour, sign me up! And today, 11/2, furnace not working since 11/1. Onto finding another hvac place.

Description of Work: They have serviced my AC 3 times and still have not been able to fix it. Unit is less than 5 yrs old. Technicians are sloppy & arrogant. They don't wipe their feet when entering home and do not respect the property.

I believe when our technician was there last he discovered an electrical problem that needed to be resolved by an electrician and upon our follow-up call when the electrician had finished the system was running, I apologize if there was a misunderstanding. Description of Work: They installed a new HVAC filter box because the one we had was in an awkward position and standard filters did not fit in it correctly. The installation went fine and they were less expensive than another company we had contacted. Since the new filter box uses filters not available except on-line, we had asked them to bring an extra filter, which we would purchase from them then. The extra filter did not arrive either with the installer or any time subsequently, so we shall get it on-line.

l. A second and third inspection were requested from other companies and the conclusion was that there was nothing wrong with the oil furnace. 2. The estimate for conversion from oil to gas was almost $4000 more than one received from National Grid plumber.
Description of Work: Requested inspection of oil burner and was told that it needed to be replaced. Then requested estimate for conversion of furnace from oil to gas.

I apologize for any confusion if this did happen, but we have no record of visiting your residence in our database or on our calendar, and upon review of our vehicle's GPS tracking history reports we can not place a vehicle at your location. It was a big job because it was two story home and there was no central air previously. They got everything up and running in about a week. They were excellent! They were professional and the contract was up front. They were clean and courteous.

The technician arrived promptly on time. We thought the Freon may just need to be charged up but he charged the system and it was broken. I needed to replace the outdoor unit. He made a proposal and I accepted the terms. They returned later that same day and replaced the outdoor ac unit. Nice & cool A/C now. In addition I asked and was given a few proposals by John Sinclair to replace a different HVAC system (heater & air conditioner) in the house. The units he proposed varied by efficiency, rebate availability and of course, price. I was supplied with a detailed estimate with model numbers and labor. I did not get the work done. I'm planning to sell the house and maybe the next owners would want to pick the system they would prefer during negotiation. The report that John supplied was very useful.
Description of Work: Tried charging the unit in case it was just a Freon leak that he could chase down, but the unit was broken. Replaced Whole house Air Conditioner outside unit. Put down a "pad" and installed new unit on top of it. Made the connections. Took the old unit with him.

From all of the companies that quoted the job, Sinclaire was the most professional and thorough. The workers were some of the nicest guys I've met and I felt completely comfortable leaving my wife and kids home while they worked in the house. I dealt primarily with John Sinclaire. John would stay here till 8 at night to make sure we had heat. Once we got heat, the rest of the job became less critical. I respected the fact that I was not the only one that needed heat as it started to get colder....so once I had heat, they prioritized other jobs where other homeowners did not have heat either. They came the following week to finish up the water heater install and clean up. My (3) pieces of advice are: (1) always work through your primary contact. The workers may tell you that they'll try to be there at a certain time when they're leaving for the day, but they don't always know what the next day's schedule is....so always work through your primary contact to find out when the work will resume. (2) Monitor the job. I personally like to get my hands dirty and offered to help any way that I could when I was home....sometimes they asked for my help....most of the times not. So I tried to stay out of their way unless necessary. (Nobody likes to work with someone else looking over your shoulder all the time). Anyway, after they had gone home, I would go around and see what was done and make sure that everything was being done as we agreed upon in the contract. I would email any questions I had directly to John and he would get back to me (often within the hour). (3) Make a list of any minor details you want to make sure get taken care of during the final few work days of a job. We had a number of small things that I noticed....which accumulated due to the size of the job....I noted them and sent them to John. They were certain to take care of all of them. Overall....This company was great! I will never hesitate to recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: We had an oil based boiler with radiator steam heat. Our boiler started caving in on itself last winter and our burner seized. I was loaned a burner to get through the winter, but needed to replace everything. We elected to go through Mass Save and spend the extra money to convert to forced hot water, a gas boiler and a new indirect water heater.

They were phenomenal. The operations manager is Chris Mcdonough. They are competitive in price, extremely professional, clean and re-mediated the mold using the best techniques and equipment. They used dry ice blasting technique, which is the best one. Their work passed the mold survey that inspected all of the attic after it was finished. Everything was perfect.

Everything went well with this job. They were very professional and met if not exceeded on the work that they quoted in the proposal. The kept everything in and around the house safe during the job and removed the rug and debris very carefully. They even made recommendations in order to prevent the mold from coming back in the future. I would recommend them to anyone who needs mold remediation.
