I can't emphasize enough what a good experience it was to work with Jason and his team. From the initial consult through to the last pieces of clean up I was nothing but pleased. Jason is straightforward, trustworthy and knows his stuff. He was able to explain and answer questions in a very satisfactory way so we felt confident going forward with the scope of the project. He kept us very up to date and was able to complete the project in the time frame he gave us despite an equipment breakdown beyond his control. My basement is so improved it is unrecognizable. Our house is old and needed a substantial amount of "bones" work and updating when we bought it. I told Jason on his last day of work here, I have written a lot of checks over the past couple of years for projects and updates for our house and I have never felt so ready to write a check to anyone as I did to him and his team, and it wasn't a small check! They earned every penny with their attention to customer service and their hard work. I recommend them wholeheartedly and without reservation.
Description of Work: Jason and his team removed an old crumbling floor in our 1900 built house, installed two sump pumps and drainage around the perimeter of the entire basement and then graded and laid stone in preparation for a new floor to be poured.
Mike replied promptly to my inquiry for an estimate. I contacted two other companies and Drycrete provided the most professional and detailed plan of "attack" to eliminate the water in our basement. Due to heavy rains in the previous weeks, Drycrete was booked solid for three weeks but we agreed on a date and a price three weeks hence. Jason, Mike and the crew showed up at my house exactly as promised. Jason and I discussed a few details of placement and how long the work might take. He estimated about two days that was the same as the estimate Mike had stated three weeks prior. Jason patiently answered all of my questions and allayed all of my concerns. Within 30 minutes, Drycrete's crew got to work. As I left for work, Jason promised me he would call that afternoon or evening so he could go over the work they'd done that day and lay out what still needed to be taken care of the next day. Jason called me around 3pm on the first day and told me they had completed about 85%-90% of the work and would only need about 2-3 hours on the second day. On the morning of the second day, Jason again went over the details of the work they'd already completed and what still needed to be done. Jason showed me directly how the sump pumps worked. Jason gave me three options for the exit piping. We decided, based on the slope of the land and the location of the septic system that an extendible pipe rather than a submerged pipe that "daylighted" 10-15 feet from the house. The other option was a dry well that seemed difficult due to the location of the septic system. I left for work and Jason and his crew began work immediately. About 9:45 am on the second day, Jason called and said he'd just left my house and had finished work. He told me everything went smoothly and no issues popped up. Jason went over all of his work with extreme professionalism. One of my concerns regarded the electrical setup. Jason said we would have to hire our own electrician to hard wire the pumps into our electrical box. As I already have an electrician lined up, this wasn't a huge issue for me as I knew it would only be a couple of hundred dollars more to have both pumps wired in. Jason told me that Drycrete could also install a battery backup but made sure that I knew the manufacturers warranty was only one year. Jason steered me away from this and said he'd rather have me buy a small generator and have an electrician install a setup for that connecting to the pumps instead of the battery backup system. To top it all off, Jason insured me that all of Drycrete's work was guaranteed 100% for the life of the house, not just the time we owned the house. Additionally, both sump pumps were guaranteed for the life of the pumps. We would not have to replace anything ourselves if we saw water coming into the basement or noted that the pumps failed for any unforeseen reason in the future. A week after installation, we noted some moisture all around the basement near the newly poured concrete. I contacted Jason and he told me it was only the concrete curing and the moisture that was beading on the newly formed concrete. Jason stated that if we saw moisture there in two weeks after the concrete was fully cured, he and his crew would come back to reassess and make any fixes as necessary, free of charge. I would recommend Jason, Mike and the Drycrete crew any day of the week. They were extremely professional and patient with a novice like myself. They did the work they said they did and ahead of schedule. Jason and his crew cleaned up and left the basement worksite cleaner than when they started.

Overall it went well jayson showed up with the team in the morning and began to work in earnest immediately. He made on the fly changes in consultation with me and completed on time all the first day tasks. He set my expectations clearly on the subsequent day's tasks - which also started on time and completed as planned the drain seems to be working fine i would use Drycrete again and recommend them to others Odd i have to re-install the sink in the basement; not something i was prepared to handle - but not unreasonable. The external pipe is creating a puddle in my front lawn and i need to call back to see if there are alternatives

We contacted Jason in early spring 2013 to come take a look at the water problem we were having in our basement. Due to the severe snow storms we had that winter, our basement was flooding. Jason came out right away and gave us a quote for an interior drainage system. We had two other contractors come out for quotes for interior systems and their quotes came in much more expensive then Drycrete. We also decided to schedule a company that installs exterior water systems to evaluate our situation and see how it compares to an interior solution. Regretfully we decided to go with the exterior water system because we were concerned about the integrity of our basement floor/walls and whether or not our old house could withstand having the foundation dug up. We called Jason to tell him that we were going with the exterior solution and he strongly advised against it. We regret this decision because the exterior system failed and the contractor we hired failed to successfully address the issue. Our backyard has ledge and shale rock and water flows directly towards our foundation, therefore an exterior water system would not properly capture the water and prevent it from entering our basement and flooding. We called Jason in June '13, with our hat in our hands, and explained to him that as he predicted, our exterior system did not work! He was very understanding and sympathetic. At this point our basement had 2-3 inches of water puddled and causing damage to our belongings. Jason was able to schedule us in within a couple weeks. Jason and his crew came a couple weeks later and within less then 2 days, they had installed the interior water system. They were fast, efficient and very clean. By having Drycrete install the interior drainage system, we now have a completely dry basement!! We are so thrilled!!! No longer do we come downstairs after a snowstorm or driving rain and worry about finding our belongings floating in the basement. The contractor that installed the exterior system told us that we would never have a dry basement! He was wrong, thanks to Jason and his crew! It is such a relief to have a dry basement and we know from experience that nobody will do it as successfully and for less money then Drycrete. We recommend you call them and you'll be glad you did.

Don't hesitate to call Jason at Drycrete. He and his crew effectively waterproofed my basement in a day and a half and did a fabulous job of it. I bought my house last April and contacted 5 waterproofing/basement companies for estimates. All estimates were comparable in price (except one which was 3,000 more than the others!) but my comfort level was quite different. A couple of the companies sent nice but hard-sell kind of people. (Not for me). The others were okay but I had questions about the materials or how they were planning to drain the water. Anyway, Jason was the last person I had in for an estimate and I knew right away that I'd go with Drycrete. He was professional, spoke to me like I had brains in my head (I appreciate that), and did not ever make it seem like a sale. He came with his crew and they did the job in about a day and a half. My house had, apparently, always had puddles in the basement. So I was pretty skeptical about this system working as well as I was told, but here we are almost a year later (I waited to do the review until I'd seen a whole year of weather-- and what wet weather it's been) and I've not had a drop of water in the basement. It's dry and clean and I doubt the previous owner would recognize it. I completely recommend Jason at Drycrete.

Jason was extremely professional and responsive to my request for an estimate - he came the same day as I called him, despite having a death on his family. His quote was substantially less than the other estimates and he described the installation process completely before he began the process. He also recommended that the pipe from the pump be placed discretely in my front yard since there is sloping in the back yard which would not eliminate the pooling of water in my basement. The other companies did not see this as an issue and I would still be having the problem after the pump was installed. I would recommend Dry Crete to anyone and would use them again if needed. The job only took about 3 hours, the crew arrived on time and thoroughly cleaned up after the process was done. Excellent job!

I live in a two family home in Brookline Village. My neighbors and I were just about to begin a basement renovation when we noticed standing water in our basement. I read the positive reviews about Drycrete Waterproofing and called Jason, the owner. He returned my call within a few hours and came by our home a few days later--in the middle of one of our 2014 snowstorms and after having finished a job about 20 minutes away (7 PM). After reviewing the situation, he recommended a French drain to which my neighbors and I agreed. We were about to begin our basement renovation and had hoped to get the drain in asap so as not to hold up our contractor. While we were originally scheduled for 3/17, Jason knew we were in a hurry, so when another client with an earlier date was delayed with a project he needed to complete prior to getting his French drain installed, Jason called right away to see if we wanted the date. We did, of course, and a few days later, he and his crew appeared and in two days installed the drain. Jason is one of those people who does what he days he is going to do. On the first day of the project, he and his crew arrived 15 minutes early and, after Jason (again) reviewed the plan and the process, they got right to it. They worked so hard that the entire project was completed in two days. The drain is in, the basement is clean, and Jason even called later on to check in on our satisfaction (he did this on both days, actually) and to suggest that our children go down and write their names (or whatever) in the cement that second evening before it dries). The kids loved doing that, and the adults were pretty much stunned that more than 1200 lbs. of rocks and stones and dirt were unearthed the day prior and that on day two, when the project was completed, there was not a trace left. I highly (highly!) recommend Jason and his excellent, hard working crew for any basement work one might have. I think they do many things other than French drains, so I recommend checking in with him around that. (Also, while I have no experiences with French drains, our contractor said that his pricing seemed very reasonable, FYI). It also may be helpful for you to know that Jason asked me to call him any time ("years from now") if we ever have any water issues (the work is guaranteed). Anyway, thanks to Jason et al, we are on our way next week to renovation. My neighbors and I feel very thankful to have found Drycrete Waterproofing on Angie's List.

Jason is a pro, and has real integrity. Although we originally thought we'd be hiring Drycrete to put in a battery backup sump pump (necessary if your powered sump pump loses power - a common occurrence with basement flooding), Jason came out to take a look and indicated that the sump was simply too small - the contractor or developer had dug a very small pit (way too close to the washing machine) and put in a 5-gallon bucket with holes cut out of it and an underpowered sump pump. Jason advised that we would need a larger hole to fit the battery backup pump in with the main pump. However, Jason also described an alternative backup system that he suggested we consider - even though it meant that Jason would not get the extra money to install the battery sump pump. Basically this alternative backup system would require a plumber to install a device that routes water out through the municipal water line (and doesn't require power, it uses vacuum or water pressure that is triggered if the main sump pump fails). After this thorough consultation, we decided to have Jason dig a new sump that was large enough (and deep enough) to accommodate both a stronger main pump and a battery backup if we desired. Jason and two crew members were right on time even a little early, and had staged all of their equipment so that when I arrived home to let them in they could get right to work. They jackhammered the concrete, up dug a very nice round hole (positioned away from the washing machine), filled the old hole over with concrete, took the chunks out through a basement window, placed an actual sump cover (instead of the crappy piece of plywood that was covering the old sump pit) and showed me how to test the pump. They also installed PVC pipe (the pipe that carries the water out of the house) replacing the crappy piece of accordion hose that had been duct taped to the hole in the exterior wall. Everything was done right -- and with efficiency, professionalism, and courtesy. They thoroughly cleaned up everything and Jason made sure I understood how to remove the cover, test the pump. He also showed me the pipe outside the house, that he'd extended to make sure the water exited a bit further from the foundation, and showed me how to detach the extension to this pipe that routes the water down our driveway. I could not afford to have Jason install the battery back up pump at the same time (the pump alone costs $700 or so, plus a $300 battery, plus the small additional labor) but Jason assured me that he would be willing to come back out in a month and install a battery back up pump essentially for cost, once I was ready. I may look into the plumbing solution since Jason advised that a battery only provides about 8 additional hours of pumping charge, whereas the plumbing solution doesn't require power (e.g. a Basepump ejector). I am extremely pleased. Jason really knows what he's doing and he was very prompt about communicating, even calling me on a day he was sick with the flu to set up the consultation visit. He follows through, doesn't forget to call you back, shows up on time, explains everything, including options that won't line his pocket, and he does the job right, for a great price and leaves your basement clean of debris. Fabulous. One last thing - Jason bought this family-owned biz after working for them for years, and he bought it because he wanted to help keep it going. In his hands, it will certainly thrive. He does NOT subcontract work out - another great thing.

The entire experience went very well -- one of the best experiences with a contractor that we've had. They did the work exactly as described, kept us involved in the process every step of the way (I was able to inspect the work at each phase), and were punctual and kept to the schedule they estimated. The quality of their work was superb. The crawlspace looks fantastic and is already drier and warmer than it had been prior, and is much more usable as a storage space. These guys are true professionals, and we'd hire them again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: Dug down and graded floor of crawlspace; dug trench for perf pipe; put down pipe, crushed stone, and plastic sheeting (vapor barrier); installed plastic along edge of foundation to direct water to pipe; installed bucket with pump; drilled hole in foundation for pipe to expel water (and sealed the pipe); installed a 5" drain by the door; installed heavy-duty plastic sheeting along wall between crawlspace and basement; dug out window well and put down crushed stone; covered the crawlspace floor in 3" of concrete.

Jayson's team provided excellent services. First, Jayson was an excellent communicator. During the quote process he took his time to explain exactly what he and his team were going to do. A day before the planned start date he called to confirm that everything was all set. We had trouble arranging someone to help us do some demo and Jayson willingly offered to assist us. At the end of each day he called to update us on progress. Second, during the whole process he was very considerate of our home. He took extra care to manage dust and the work area was left very tidy. Third, Jayson was on site each day to ensure that there was active management of the daily work. We had to leave town before the end of the job and Jayon helped us to close up our house, hide our key and turn down the heat. He was just awesome. Lastly and most importantly, Jayson stands behind his servies and product. Its very clear that he genuinely wants to have happy and satisfied customers. I highly recommend working with him. Jayson was an absolute professional in all ways possible.
