 + -1 moreSal stopped by and surveyed our old heating system, gave us his suggestion for the new gas boiler as well as some alternatives. Also he included the work needed to be done for each case. The appointment was a bit later than we expected but given their work quality it was not a problem. They removed the old systems and installed the new one, also did a very clean job installing the new pipelines and the necessary accessories for the system. They were punctual and finished the job earlier than I expected.
Description of Work: Did the oil-to-gas conversion in our house, installed an energy efficient heating system.

 + -1 moreVery prompt with responding to a quote request and scheduling a time to meet with me and my husband.. Quite knowledgeable; we were even told about a rebate program that was available to us. Very pleasant and willing to answer any questions we had. The quote was detailed and was provided very quickly. Price was in the same range as other contractors we had met with. Our installation date was set and never changed...a company that keeps their commitments! Installation was completed and clean up was thorough. There were no surprise additions to the final bill, very nice.They are fabulous to work with starting wit the fir call to rebate completion. I have recommended them to many and would not hesitate to hire them again.

 + -1 moreAn exceptionally good experience from start to finish. The quote was quite reasonable for two units, with a retrofit for central air. Rich described the planned work in detail and answered my questions with patience and expertise. When complications arose from a rat's nest of old ducts and plumbing, the Unified crew repaired and improved old work at no extra charge. They were punctual, fast, thorough and unfailingly professional. I would happily hire them again.
Description of Work: Oil-to-gas conversion for a two-family home (two furnaces), installation of central air for one unit, and insulation of all basement ducts.

Description of Work: We installed a new heating/AC system (Carrier) 2 yrs. ago and it never worked properly since day one (forced hot air system). During this time period we contacted so many companies (approx. 19-all from Angies List) that either did not respond or responded that they did not work with FHA that we actually thought we may have to install a new system. A Somerville business that did return our call {one of the few (3) that actually responded} did not work on FHA but suggested this company. They came, gave us a price, an approximate time period that we may have to wait (about a week for the compressor) due to the time of year (end of June-you know everybody is scrambling). We needed a new compressor and other stuff (see my husband) such as zone controls and they suggested 2 new thermostats that work fantastic (I hate gadgets). And voila!!!!!!! amazing, life is finally good. The AC works perfectly and for 2 years it has been horrible. (we had 2 other companies in last year) They will be returning in the fall to check the heat because that hasn't worked well since install either but I'm very comfortable with these 2 young men. (Sal DiCarlo and Rich Neal) What else was great was that while they were at our home, our neighbor's (age 90) AC went out and they ran over, took a look, fixed it and charged them a minimal fee. Good guys--wish I could remember the name of the Somerville plumbing company that recommended them I would have liked to send them Kudos as well. (I believe they were in the College Ave. area). Hope this helps someone else with FHA cuz' we really had a rough 2 years and because we have a small ranch it was like Dante's Inferno without the AC. Good luck.

 + 1 moreWhen Sal came out for the quote he was very informative and helpful. The day of the work, they showed up promptly and explained what was being done. All work was completed in one working day and the quality of the work was excellent. They upgraded the plumbing to improve serviceability in the future. While I have not gone through a whole heating season yet, the system has performed well so far.
Description of Work: Hired as a contractor to replace my boiler, converting from a fuel oil system to a natural gas system. Removed old boiler and installed new boiler along with new natural gas run from the meter as well as all associated plumbing and electrical. Also had subcontractor install new chimney liner. (Chimney liner itself came at additional cost.) I purchased the boiler through the natural gas company, so that is not included in the quoted price.

 + 1 moreThey know their stuff. They are very knowledgeable in the heating and plumbing areas. They are very good. You just need to schedule ahead of time, but once you get the schedule they show up on time. I would consider using them again in the future.
Description of Work: Unified Mechanical did some general plumbing work and also corrected an issue with the indirect type hot water heater that was incorrectly installed by another contractor.

Sal did the installation in November. He was quite busy and had to reschedule once due to the gas company being behind schedule to get the gas line in. After the one reschedule, Sal and his crew showed up on time and did the work on schedule. Sal installed a very efficient high quality system; it was not cheap, but I feel that I got my money's worth.
Description of Work: Sal replaced our old oil furnace with a new buderus high efficient gas furnace and hot water heater.

The combustion test was very pricey for what it was, but apparently everyone charges the same. I think overall on the pricey side, but from all that I have learned, you get what you pay for, and we got quality work from them.
Description of Work: Performed a combustion test, and installed some gas lines to a new radiant floor heating system.
