OK except for the cost. Since the water heater was bad we didn't want to spend a lot of time shopping for plumbers and we knew someone who worked there so we called them. They helped us replace a warrantied water heater and I do believe they made it a little more difficult than it needed to be but I do not believe it was intentional. By this I mean they were requiring an original receipt of the purchase plus tax proof we lived in the house when it was purchased. This may be standard for other water heater companies but I called State Water Heaters directly and they gave me a return number with no hassle. Once they received the replacement WH, Denommee came in and replaced it in under 2 hours and for that we were charged $590. Lesson learned - go with out a shower for a little while longer and save money by shopping around.

Response from Denommee Plumbing & Heating Inc
I have to say I was a little shocked by this review. My company is a reputable, honest, hard working, fully insured, licensed, legitimate company. My service tech's never actually met the customer as neither he nor his wife were home for either visit. It is true on the 5/21 we installed a replacement State water heater under warranty. Since all of my trucks are equipped with GPS tracking devices I can identify exactly how much time we were on site. We can identify any route, speed and location of our trucks in real time. My service truck was on site for a little over 2 hours during the installation along with 20 minutes travel time. We also had a trip for 45 minutes including one way travel on 5/19 to identify the leaking tank and remove the tag for warranty. We need to return the model/serial # tag along with the customer data and other required documentation to the supply house to start the warranty process. This return process took an additional 40 minutes and included the pick up of the new water heater. We couldn't do this until we had all the required documentation from the homeowner who wasn't home at the time. His very nice son was home, but didn't have access to the information on the first visit. My office communicated back and forth with the customer to help identify and assist with the process in any way possible. This included phone calls, emails and faxes to the supply house and customer. To insinuate that we made some warranty process more difficult on purpose is just silly. This is not my policy and it's the same for all State water heater warranties and it is the same regardless of if you received a return authorization number direct from State. Without proof of residency during the original installation period and an original installation receipt the RA number means nothing at the supply house. They can't enter the information into State's database without proof they possess the required documentation. You'll excuse me if I'm a little over cautious, my company lost $980.00 last fall because of this. The customer assured us they were the original purchaser and could not produce a property tax bill or any other documentation when we finished. They in fact were not the original purchaser and State refused to credit my company for the replacement. The customer had a "paid in full receipt" and refused to pay for the cost of the water heater. We assumed the policy was like it always was, return the old heater or tag, get a new one, no questions asked. State changed it's policy without us knowing and that experience cost my company almost $1000.00. The requirement of original installation receipt was a new wrinkle for me, but nothing shocks me with State. Since you couldn't produce the receipt we found a way to work around it. If you'd like, please contact my office for the name of the warranty person and the number of the supply house that handled the process. This same person also handled the issue in the fall and can confirm my account and the denial of warranty. As far as the $590 goes. I sent a Massachusetts licensed plumber to your house with a licensed apprentice. They were both in full clean uniforms, the arrived in a clean clearly marked well stocked truck and professionally installed your new water heater. That tech and his apprentice personally go through annual criminal background checks, driving record checks and adhere to our zero tolerance substance abuse policy that includes testing. We do this so I know a licensed professional of high moral character was sent to you home to represent my company. I also need to know the person I sent to your house with my name of his shirt, I'd be comfortable sending to my house with my wife and kids. We processed your warranty claim, replaced all needed pipe, valves, fittings and safety devices and disposed of your old tank and all related debris. They were on site for 2 hours that day plus travel, 45 minutes on the 19th and spend another 40 minutes acquiring your new tank and returning after the installation to drop off the warranty paperwork your son had ready for us on the day of installation. In addition we spent lots of time arranging the warranty information at the office to make sure this went off without a hitch. In spite of all this extra time and effort, we stuck to the original price we quoted you on day one of $590.00. This price was given on the first visit over the phone while on site since neither you nor your wife were home. If you thought it was way out of line, you should have mentioned it on day one before we started the process. We gave a price first and you were under no obligation to hire us that day. I don't know what you were expecting to pay when we were done. The $590.00 was no secret and is a very competitive price for the work detailed. In the end his job was not a winner for me, but we stuck to our original quote because it was the right thing to do. Your marks and review add insult to injury for me. It impugns the reputation of my company and my men with the members of Angie's list. I wish you the best of luck in the future and I am sorry you feel you were so wronged in this process. 1985 plumbing fixtures contain dissimilar metals and over time they cold fuse together from the oxidation etc. I bought a new plastic diverter valve with a new gasket on it. However, I could not unscrew the connecting bolts. Denommee Plumbing is a Plumbers Plumber. I was in awe of the years of experience that was evident in this very very difficult repair.

The plumber that Guy sent out was competent and courteous. He said that a weak pipe might be further damaged by the work that he was doing. He was right. He quoted me a price for that, but in the end, when it was damaged he cut me a big break on the price to replace it. First circulator pump installed didn't actually work. Quickly called office and got another one out to my house and installed that one. I've used Denommee twice before and will use again. Guy has always done right by me.
Description of Work: Replaced circulator pump on old natural gas furnace. Installed a shut off valve for a section of heating pipe. Replaced small run of piping for heating system.

They are local and they are not from Angie's List. We had used them in the pat. They came right out when we called knowing that we didn't have any heat. Their specialty is plumbing and heating. The guy came out yesterday and charged us the service call, but if we choose him to do the entire job we will be refunded the service call charge. We are thinking of having him reinstall our heating system. We've used him in the past and we really like him. His prices are pretty comparable. We got another estimate from another guy last night and it's about the same. He was also from the Summerville area. He hasn't installed anything yet, but the previous experiences that we've had with his quality has been very good. We would definitely use him again in the future.
Description of Work: We got an estimate from Denommee Plumbing & Heating Inc on the 1st of November. We have to have our whole heating system redone.

Fair, They did a good job on the PVC pipes, (cost $750) albeit a bit expensive, but did drop a PVC pipe and dented the HW stairs on the way out. No apology, just ignored it and left. Later when they came back, to install the gas pipes they installed it such that it was too close to the A/C lines that had a nice cover over them. Instead of moving the pipe over 1/2", they just crunched the cover which later came off. When they came over the last time, I mentioned that the pipe should be moved over slightly. The plumber said he would call the office. I had to leave for work and never got a word, and they never moved it. What really gauls me is that the web site shows this nicely plumbed furnace, and then when I point out how they didn't do such a great job, they ignore it and don't fix it. I won't use them again. There are too many other plumbers out there that do better work and care what the homeowner says. As an engineer, I'm sick of contractors doing a sloppy job!
Description of Work: They moved the PVC ventilation pipes and added gas pipes from the basement to the attic for a furnace.

Response from Denommee Plumbing & Heating Inc
I have to tell you I took me a while to figure out who this person was. I've been looking at this review for years and already sent a response that never was posted years ago. Since it won't go a away I figured I'd like to tell my side of the story. We don't have any record of this customer in our database going back almost 15 years and never worked directly for this person. After a little investigation I figured out we were sub contractors for the general contractor who performed the finishing of the 3rd floor attic space. My company was hired by the general contractor to relocate the plumbing vent and install the gas feed to the new attic furnace. If my memory serves me correctly, the customer had a disagreement with the general contractor and the job stopped for months if not a full year before completion. Your disagreement was with the general contractor and not with me. We worked under the direction of the general contractor and were paid by the general contractor. The enclosure you mention was for the refrigerant lines, control wires and condensate lines for the 3rd air conditioning components. The lines and enclosure were located in a closet in the first floor bathroom/laundry. Both the enclosure and lines were installed by another sub contractor after the gas line was installed. This enclosure was not sized or installed to accommodate the gas feed line too. The gas line was never supposed to be located inside this enclosure. We discussed where these lines were to be located prior to installation and everyone was OK with the closet location. As an engineer relocating a three story steel gas line a few inches might seem like a small task to you, but it's a lot of work to even move it a few inches. The gas line would have to be disconnected on the 3rd floor furnace and completely removed to the basement, the holes would need to be re drilled and the entire line from start to finish would need to be reinstalled. Not to mention the hole in the flooring and ceiling would need to be patched after. This was a three story steel threaded gas line from start to finish, not a flexible corrugated gas feed. We still use threaded steel gas lines today because it's a superior product. Our main concern is safety and hands down steel threaded pipe is better than flexible line any day. It wasn't easy installing it in the first place and the gas line was completed, tested and inspected when you asked to relocate it. We would have needed to start the whole process over again including testing, inspection along with a re inspection fee. Financially relocating it wasn't an option when we discussed it with the general contractor. It was ultimately his option to relocate the line or not. This line was neatly installed by a professional licensed plumber, inspected and completed. It was also installed where it was supposed to be installed to begin with. I remember this job well because while we were on site, you hired another plumber to replace you leaking gas power vented water heater. We had given you a price and you found someone to do it for less and I had no problem with that. He left your old heater in the driveway and I had to explain to the inspector that it wasn't part of the scope of our work and we weren't the ones who changed it. I was on site to meet him for the gas test and inspection when we had the discussion. As far as the dented stair tread goes. We protected the floor with tarps from the entry to the 3rd floor landing. The attic stairs were just rough lumber and needed no protection at the time. I know this because I was on site to review the scope of work, locate where the gas line was to be installed and to go over the venting changes. We reviewed the location of the gas with the customer, general contractor, his men and my men. I assisted with the tarps while on site that day. Tarping the flooring is something we always do, your house was no exception. The scope of our work consisted of maybe two days in a year long process. How you could determine that my employees dented a step is beyond me. The job included the demolition of the 3rd floor attic structure, reframing, installation of windows, a dormer, a complete heating and cooling system, relocation of the plumbing vent, installation of gas line, electrical, insulation, drywall, plaster, painting, flooring, finish carpentry, removal of all debris and a myriad of other sub contractors spread out over a year. All of these sub contractors used the same stairs to access the 3rd floor and many at the same time including the days we were on site. I can not say everyone else took the same care to protect your steps and flooring as we did. That being said, it is possible that one of my employees during the window of our two day work period in this year long process dropped something that could have damaged your stair tread through the tarp. It is also possible that we didn't recognize this as damage or new damage when collecting the tarps at the end of the day. My employees are very good and conscientious. The same employees who worked at your house 5 or 6 years ago still work for me today. For reasons I'd rather not get into, they remember your house and this job very well. They would have alerted me to any new damage they noticed during cleanup. I never heard about this from the general contractor who was your point of contact or from you directly about this matter. As far as my price goes, my bill never went directly to you. The general contractor paid for my companies services and any price you saw would have been his price after his markup. Lets keep in mind none of us sub contractors involved were paid until you two resolved your disagreement. I'm guessing almost a year from start to finish. Asking me to relocate a gas line almost a year after it's installation and having not been compensated for my services to date may have fallen of deaf ears. It was the general contractors choice to move the gas line and he felt the line was were we all agreed to locate it and it didn't need to be moved. It was neatly installed in a closet and didn't need to be concealed inside the enclosure it wasn't supposed to be concealed in. He also didn't want to pay my company again to relocate the line. The price I gave to the general contractor was more than fair for the work involved. For reasons I discontinued my affiliation with this general contractor and haven't worked with him in years. I wish I could say the same for this unfair review. Guy Denommee President Denommee Plumbing & Heating Inc. guy@denommeeplumbing.com
