We had worked with Jesus at our previous home and were glad to call him when we needed to remodel our new home. This was a tricky project in a unique Deck House, so there was a lot of coordinating with sub contractors to get the timing correct, especially when we stripped the roof all the way down to the ceilings. Jesus was great at scheduling when the roof was to be open and electrical was done before the new roof went in...all before any rain was forecasted! Because of our home's non-conventional architecture style, Jesus was extremely thorough in obtaining the correct construction details & methods from our home manufacturer before we started the project, as well as consulting with the town building inspector to make sure that construction & design plans were to current standards & codes. He doesn't just wing it or make guesses...I appreciated his commitment to a finished product that was of sound construction. As issues arose, as they do in a project of this size, I was focused on making sure that Jesus handled the problems quickly, correctly and within budget. Again, he was fantastic. In my opinion, it's not about the problems, but rather how they are addressed & managed. He's an excellent communicator, who called me daily with updates. He was also on the ball when prompting me to get my design decisions and fixture purchases made, leaving no gaps in the timeline. He and his crew are fantastic carpenters and Jesus really had a great design eye, which shows in the fine finish work and trim details around windows, baseboards, skylights, etc. It's a lot of fun to brainstorm design options with him because he's quite talented at seeing the desired outcome and delivering it. After our third project with him, I can't recommend him highly enough! We will definitely be hiring him in the future for additional bathroom remodels, too. I have already suggested him to multiple friends looking for a professional contractor. He's trustworthy, organized in his written estimates, accurate with billing invoices & awesome at communication.

The deck came out great. Our old deck was rotting and had become a hazard. Renova tore down the old decking and railings, and installed PVC decking and railings. They also had to pour new footings for the deck stairs because the old ones weren't up to code. They widened the stairs and added more supports to strengthen them. The new deck is much more secure than the old one was even when it was new. The work was done quickly and they cleaned everything up neatly when they left each day. Super Storm Sandy hit while they working on the deck, and they did a great job securing everything before the storm.

The kitchen came out awesome. We used a kitchen designer recommended by Renova, and she and Jesús worked with us to reconfigure it the way we wanted, within our budget (the final cost actually came in under the original estimate). The work that Jesús and his assistants did was excellent. Their attention to details, even the small ones, shows in the final product. The work was done in a timely manner, and they always cleaned everything up so that we could use as much of the kitchen as possible when they weren't working. I chose Renova, not just because I knew they would do a great job in the kitchen, but because Jesús is always honest and up front the costs of a project, and will recommend what is best for what I want. He let me know what needs to be done, and also what doesn't need to be done, so that I could get the kitchen I wanted, within my budget.
Description of Work: We completely remodeled our kitchen. This included new cabinets, appliances, fixtures. We also had some work done on the hardwood floors because we reconfigured the layout of the kitchen.

I was within a week of closing on my house when my bank told me that I needed to get the deck repaired or they would not give me a mortgage. I immediately started calling contractors. I called Renova and explained my situation and that the work needed to be done the next day so that it could be appraised and I could close on time. Jesus understood my situation and was willing to work with me. Ultimately the seller's side chose a contractor but Jesus' willingness to help me is worth the mention. I'm sure that I will find myself calling Renova for future work.

We had Jesus come out for an estimate for a full bath renovation. He was very late for our scheduled appointment. We never recieved an estimate. We contacted him several times via phone and email over the course of over a month. We gave up and posted something on Angies List, a poor review. Within 48 hours of that we heard from him and he said he would have an estimate to us in two days. A week later we heard from him with a price for about $9000, with no details, no ifo, just a statement that the job costs $9000. there were a lot of options and things to discuss, so we have no idea what the $9000 covered. He said that he could do the job in the fall and we agreed to his price that he would then give us a detailed estimate. We said that we did not feel comfortable agreeing to something without any details or specifics, we asked for a little more info. About a week and a half later we have not heard anything. Very difficult to deal with, and a huge waste of our time.

Jesus's work -- the company is Jesus and a young assistant -- is terrific. He takes great pride in his work and it shows. He also makes sure that the finished project not only looks good, but IS good. For example, he could easily have ignored the awful mess made to the exterior wall outside the bathroom by the gutters, but he not only told us about it, he then took great care in fixing it, replacing the shingles, and painting the exterior. Jesus is also easy to deal with and keeps you informed about the progress of the project. The only downside is a reflection of how much in demand he is -- our project took a bit longer than we expected because he is so busy with other projects. On the other hand, we were not in a big hurry and we trusted Jesus to get the project done and to get it done right, which he did. The bottom line: Jesus does a wonderful job and I would hire him again (and hope to soon to redo our kitchen)..
Description of Work: Jesus and Renova gutted and remodeled a small bath with shower and gutted and remodeled a sunporch. Both required extensive work -- new insulation, new walls (both interior and exterior), new floors, new windows, heat, etc. -- and both ended up requiring more significant exterior work than expected because of water damage over years of problems. The two rooms were transformed and look beautiful. In the bathroom, they replaced the 80-year-old tub, floor, tiles, with a new tub, tiles, floor. They also rebuilt the outside wall, installed insulation, replaced the lights with recessed lighting, installed a vent, reframed and installed a new window, painted, and then replaced the shingles on much of the outside wall. The sunroom is also almost unrecognizable -- and wonderful to use (for the first time in the 10 years we've lived here). Jesus and Renova took a dank, rustic, water-damaged, small sunroom and made it into a bright, airy space. They raised the ceiling three feet, installed a ceiling fan, replaced the dark paneling with white walls, insulated the room, put in a new oak floor, replaced the sills and windows, put in an electric heating unit, waterproofed and rebuilt the exterior walls, reshingled and repainted.

I found Renova on Angies's list and ask them to bid on the job along with other contractors that had been recommended by friends in Sudbury MA. Jesus and Eric quickly responded to the request and submitted an "all in bid" for all components of the job. This was a completely transparent bid with all phases of the work clearly identified and a clear explanation where elements of the job might come in higher or lower than bid. Renova's bid was extremely competitive and I never felt pressured through out the whole process of fine tuning the bid. As opposed to some of the other bids that I received where I got the impression that they were bidding the zip code as opposed to the job, Renova's bid was fair and I thought reflected the value of the work that they were doing based on basement remodels that I had completed in other homes that I had owned previous to this one. Across the board these guys were professional in terms of quality of work, maintaining the agreed upon timeline and assuring that work performed by others brought into the job was of high quality and appropriately priced. In general, Jesus wasn't happy unless I was happy. You will come to like these guys and trust that they are always working with your best interest in mind. Do yourself a favor and make sure you have him come out to discuss your job and submit a bid before you sign on the line with another contractor. I am stickler for detail, high quality work, great customer server and trusting the people who are working in my home. They exceeded my expectations on every account. The other great thing is that Jesus knows other like-minded people in the trade. So when I wanted to get a bluestone patio put in he directed me to a contractor that delivered on both quality and value. Bottom line is that I will always go to Jesus first for any work I want to get done on my home.

The work was done by both Renova staff and a subcontracted mason (D-ROD Concrete & Masonry); all did thorough and high quality work. This porch had been "repaired" twice earlier, with no positive results, and we hoped for a permanent solution this time. Jesus Soler was very responsive and worked closely with us throughout the very long process, which took longer than anticipated both because of the difficulty of the diagnosis and the bad weather. Once work schedules were arranged, work was done promptly, and results were wonderful. I think the price on the work was very fair; we decided to use granite, which increased the original estimate. I unequivocally recommend Renova Fine Remodeling and the subcontractor to all.

We interviewed and initiated preliminary designs with 4 contractors before settling on Jesus Solar @ Renova for the work. We had been thinking about this remodel for about 7-8 years and had several ideas about how we wanted it to go. Most contractors, when they bothered to show up, would argue against some of our ideas as not feasible.. can’t do that and so on. Jesus was first of all responsive.. he actually showed up when we scheduled meetings and was primarily focused on achieving our goals. He listened and came up with many innovative solutions in the design phase, engaging two different kitchen designers before we settled on our contract. He also made our idea on the deck work and it was something he hadn't done before! He was a couple of weeks late in starting, but kept to the timeline very well with regard to getting us back in a working kitchen in about 6wks. Jesus worked mainly with one other guy Eric and subbed out the electrical, plumbing, as well as much of the tile work and framing. Other than that he pretty much was the hands on guy with keen focus on our satisfaction, and he got it!! We are thrilled with the results. A long time in our minds and now our house has been transformed with really an A-1 job. In fact we are thinking of sending the story into This Old House Mag as a showcase project. My wife and I recommend Jesus and Renova without hesitation.

Jesus was great. He came over to look at the job and survey the damage. I think it was a smaller job than he would normally take, but he knew it was a problem that needed to be fixed so he thankfully agreed to take on the project. His staff came early on a friday morning and had the job completed and the site completely cleaned up before I got home from work. It looks great.
Description of Work: The molding and threshold of my side entrance door had significant rot that extended into the sill. Lack of proper flashing on the porch had also led to rot on a number of the shingles on the house. The porch had to be disassembled so that all the rotted wood could be removed. Proper flashing needed to be installed and then the molding on the door frame and all the bad shingles needed to be replaced. The rot underneath the threshold also had to be cut out and replaced with new wood. Finally a new threshold was needed. To help avoid future rot, they also installed a piece of metal on the roof to help divert water away from the deck.

They did a superb job. We could tell this was an unusual group when the first thing they did was to tape down a canvas cover on the parquet floor of our house along the path they would be taking repeatedly from the front door to the kitchen, over the course of the three days it took to do the installation. They were neat workers and took particular care to avoid causing us any inconvenience. Towards the end of the job my wife noticed a tiny dent that was originally in the flooring material that no one else would ever have seen and they went back to fix it immediately without a word. Price wise they were the least expensive of the estimates we had. They original estimate indicated three days to complete the job but they did it in two days. We are planning to have them return to do some bathroom work. They gave a 5% discount because we are AngiesList members.

All went beautifully. The detail of Mr Soler's work is excellent. You get perfection at a good price. He also had a great idea on improving the upstairs hall and stairway- tore up the old wall to wall, Had new steps cut and finished with railing to match and tiled the small entry at the front door. What an improvement with the natural woof flooring--all for an additional $ 1700.00

Jesus from Renova Remodeling is awesome. He did an excellent job. You cannot tell that we had any work done. He was very responsive to any concerns that I had. The crew that he had come out was great. We are having them come out again soon to build a new porch for us. Jesus actually e-mailed me after a big storm to make sure that nothing was leaking. He was the first contractor I have ever hired that I actually wanted to come back. I can not say enough nice things about Renova Fina Remodeling. I am definitely going to use his service again in the future.

Jesus came and did an initial measurement and consultation in August. We asked him (and another contractor) for an initial guess on what the price would be and we decided not to have him go to the time and effort of doing a formal bid before we were totally committed to the project. Subsequently, in October when we did decide to go forward with the project, we had him come back to make a formal bid. Through the whole process, we found Jesus to be extremely professional and pleasant. My whole family felt very comfortable with him. He shared pictures of jobs he had done previously, and they all looked very good, with significant attention to detail and aesthetic appeal. Jesus gave us what we thought was a very reasonably priced bid on the job. It was a toss-up between Renova and the other contractor who bid the job. Based on viewing the work that Jesus has done before and the Angie's List recommendations, we were totally convinced that he would have done a super job. We would definitely recommend him and would consider him for a similar job with us in the future.
Description of Work: Jesus Soler of Renova bid on a turnkey basement remodeling project for a 750 sf basement. He bid to do the demo, sub-flooring, sheetrock walls and ceilings, insulation, electrical, trim, replace windows, painting, wiring for surround sound speaker system, and bring stairs and railing to code. Carpeting, crown molding, and furnace update (if needed) were extra.

The project went very well. Jesus was very professional and went above and beyond in some cases because he wanted to make sure that the job was done right. He always kept us up-to-date with what was going on with the project. He did a great job minimizing the impact of the construction on us, which is difficult when you are remodeling the kitchen and the bathroom. When he found things that hadn't been done right by the original builders, he took care of them for us. When we had a problem with some of the bathroom fixtures we ordered, he went back to the showroom and made sure we got the right thing. He was always straight with us about how much the project would cost, and when we added things for the project he was quick to give a us new, accurate estimate.
Description of Work: We had hardwood floors installed throughout much of the house (including the stairs), replaced the toilet, vanity sink and flooring in the bathroom, put tile in the foyer, painted the interior of the house, and repaired the supports of our deck.

The start of the project went going extremely well, the demo, electrical, and walls were on/ahead of schedule. There were two points that we were not going to do in the kitchen, replacement of the floor and replacement of the doors. Since we decided to do these things once the project had started, this delayed the finishing of the room for several weeks while the flooring people were scheduled and the doors were ordered. The quality of the workmanship of the contractor, and almost all of the people he hired was superb. The drywall hangers and the plasterers were fast, efficient and skilled workmen. I have never seen an electrician hang wires as neatly as the one hired to do our kitchen, I can give no higher praise than it is how I would have run the electrical. The plumber who came to do our steam radiator re-attachment was personable, and told us exactly what he was going to do. He handled the problems associated with the work (incorrect pipe height, limited access to the pipes and old cast iron piping) incredibly well. The finish work, which included hanging doors, replacement of baseboard, trim and custom fab of decorative, multi-element door crowns was performed by Jesus Solder himself. This work was also well done, compensating for corners and walls that were not square, and in some cases not even straight. The only major issue that we had with the remodel was the floor. The group who put in the floor had to come back twice to re-finish the floor. Once because the poly-urethane coating that they put on pooled in the center of the floor and hardened, and the second time because there were and unacceptable amount of particles and bubbles in the finish. Other problems which were encountered were discussed and sorted out with as little fuss and bother as possible. Renova Fine remodeling did an excellent job at re-finishing an old, dark, dingy, greasy walled kitchen into a new, bright, airy, and enjoyable focus of home life.
Description of Work: The kitchen was remodeled. Renovations include: Tear down of old walls and replacement with drywall, new electrical, new hardwood floor, new doors and trim, new ceiling with recessed lights, added duct work for stove vent. The cabinets and painting were not included in the estimate and were not done by Renova.

Jesus provided us with the best price of three contractors we received bids from. He was responsive and attentive to all the details of the up front ordering of the materials. He also told us up front since this was a 1-2 day job and he would be squeezing us in between other larger jobs as time allowed. This led to the job taking longer than expected, however we were well aware from the beginning that this would likely occur. Once Jesus and his crew were able to fit in the installation, the job went smoothly and he cleaned up when they finished. We are very happy with the quality and workmanship. Jesus followed up after they were finished to ensure we were happy with his work.

Jesus was one of three people we had come out and do an estimate for our work. He was in the middle for his estimate of cost, but clearly the most organized and thorough. About a month later (consistent with his estimate) he and an employee came out first thing in the morning - the materials hadn't arrived, but while they were waiting, they pulled up a carpet and fixed a terribly annoying squeak in our hall. It took them about 2 days (including the electrical) to complete their work. The price was slightly higher than the estimate due to the need for more wood. It was done incredibly professionally and they even installed two shelves with the leftover materials. We are very happy with our new space for storage.

Jesus came over and followed up in a quick manor. We went through a week of clarifying the estimate and scope of the job. Once we agreed on scope he gave us a start date and actually came 3 weeks earlier due to a cancellation. I found Jesus to be a reasonable, independent and genuine person to work with. His work and the work of his plummer and electrician was excellent and his price was fair. I would recommend him and use him again.

All of Renova's work on our behalf was excellent, beginning with Jesus's creative, practical solutions to the design and construction issues presented by working in difficult spaces and his clearly detailed proposal. The structures he created are solidly constructed and exquisitely finished. Owing to Jesus's conscientiousness, extensive knowledge, and great communication skills, working with Renova was a pleasure.
Description of Work: Renova undertook three main projects for us: (1)turning an unfinished basement area into a storage room with plaster walls, a drop ceiling, a rubber tile floor, and a large closet; (2)turning an unfinished attic area into a storage closet; and (3)laying a bamboo floor in a loft area. In addition, Renova built a box around a new dryer vent pipe system in our basement, and refinished the room, closet and garage area through which it runs to repair the damage caused by the pipe's installation.

We loved working with Jesus & Eric. The estimate came in similar to other contractors, but Jesus demeanor, likability & reputation (thanks to Angie s List) are reasons why we hired him. He was personable, knowledgeable and offered us lots of suggestions about the design & project details. The project started later than we had wanted, but they were still able to complete the job by our strict deadline. Once the project began, they arrived daily as scheduled and kept our home in a relatively clean & livable condition throughout the project. Jesus has a team of subcontractors that were outstanding. He did an excellent job of coordinating the various projects/team members so that the project continued in a timely manner. He choreographed the start & completion of the various sub-jobs, using a plumber, electrician, framers, plasterers, hardwood floor installers, granite installers & custom cabinet designer. Everyone came & went smoothly & as scheduled. He worked with us in advance to make sure that all of the custom & specialty materials were ordered on time. His communication was excellent! We received a call at the end of each day with an update, questions, issues, etc., and he was very easy to reach when we had questions & concerns. Jesus got our direction & feedback on even the smallest details to make sure that we would be happy with the results. Overall, the project was very smooth. We didn t run into any major problems or issues that affected the original estimated cost. We needed the project completed by a set date, and Jesus & Eric worked overtime for us to get the job done. They also helped with some additional touch ups on the exterior of the home after the original project was completed. Jesus finished the project & all of the details in entirety, including coming back a few weeks later to install the hardware on the new cabinets. Our new living space came out better than we could have expected. The quality of the work is excellent, all the way down to the smallest details. Jesus & Eric were a pleasure to have working in our home. We were so used to seeing them every morning that we actually missed having them around when the project was done! We will definitely hire Jesus again and are confident in referring him to our friends & family.

Working with Jesus and Rob was a pleasure; they began the work earlier than promised and we could count on them to be here exactly when they indicated. They kept a relatively clean work area all the while and were generous with their remodeling/decorating ideas. We received another estimate for this work (which was higher) and, in the long run, know we made the right decision. We could not have been more pleased with our experience with Renova.
Description of Work: Work included removing exiting front door and storm door and replacing with new doors. Also, a three-window unit in living room was removed, wall opened, and new French door installed. Work involved installing additional drywall (including taping and mudding process) and installing new trim around French door.

Jesus met with my wife and I to go over the project. He then followed up with and estimate, which we agreed to. He went over the different window products to choose from, the colors available, the types of windows, styles, etc. so that we picked what we were most happy with. We gave him a deposit in order to secure him to do the job and order the windows. The windows took a bit longer to come in then what he had hoped, but he started the job in September and was done within a week. He and his crew worked fast BUT did an excellent job. For me, it's all about the details. I have seen jobs that were "done" but weren't done from the homeowner's standpoint. He sweated the details in regard to getting the trim to fit straight and correct, caulking where needed, painting the outside trim around the door--these are the sign of a company who takes pride in what they do. I definitely recommend Renova!
Description of Work: Jesus and his crew replaced 3 windows in two bedrooms, removed the old shingles and replaced them with new clapboard from one small dormer (one windows) and one large dormer (4 windows), replaced rotted trim on the dormers, painted all trim and clapboard on dormers, and installed a new door on our screen porch.
