In recent years, I've asked Red Phoenix (Mark Malmquist) to estimate repairs for real estate clients of mine. I found Mark's quotes to be thoughtful, skilled analysis of the needs of each property, carefully avoiding padding the scope of work needed. Honesty always impresses me. His company also completed a kitchen/family room redo for my Andover buyer-clients in 2011 who raved about working with Mark. My project was a Master bath partial renovation. As I was running the job myself, I did not need the whole project contracted by Red Phoenix (which is what Red Phoenix most often does.) I did need a skilled carpenter with reasonably-quick availability for his parts of the project. Mark assigned Steven Ranking to my tasks. I found Steven to be punctual, skilled, and thorough, giving me the result I requested every time as well as completing a clean-up of the site at the end of each workday. Doorways were widened, new doors installed and trimmed, walls sheet rocked and plastered, shelving and drawers re-worked, and a "surprise" urgent exterior repair completed, too. Once we established how to best schedule Steven's time so that he wasn't leaving another job mid-day and needing to return to it later, the travel time costs disappeared from the bill, which was a peculiarity of my situation. I would definitely use Red Phoenix again as well as recommend Red Phoenix to all, friends and clients alike.
