We bought our kitchen cabinets through Lowe's, and Gerry was selected as our installer. After I had spent countless hours scouring Angie's List and gathering estimates for the Electrical and Plumbing work, it felt like I was throwing caution to the wind to be "assigned" a cabinet installer. However, from the first time we met him, Gerry turned out to be a pleasant surprise and even exceeded the performance of some of the other "Angie's List Award" winners whom we had hired. When he first came out to take measurements, he was very helpful giving an overview of all the different phases of his portion of the work. He also gave us tips on how to remove the old floor if we wanted to do that portion of the work ourselves, and difficulties we might run into when we started doing demo work in the bathroom. I ended up hiring Gerry to do our floors in addition to installing the cabinets. Throughout all phases of the work, I was impressed with his attention to detail and care in his work. When he discovered the flooring we had selected wasn't milled to a consistent width, he took the extra time to select similar pieces for each run so that there were no gaps in the floor. When the poor-quality crown molding that came with the cabinets started splitting and cracking as he cut it, he went out and bought new crown molding so that the finished product would look right. The cabinets were installed beautifully. When we needed a plasterer on short notice, he got us in contact with a good one and even came out on a Saturday to introduce us to him. But most important, he was dependable, he always answered his phone when I called, and regularly contacted us to update us on his schedule and progress. I never had to wonder about when he was coming back, or what the next step in the process was going to be. I don't know what my next home renovation project will be, but Gerry will be the first person I call.
