We contacted Mark to check the stone stairs we needed repaired, looking for an estimate. He replied quickly and came the next day. He listened to what we wanted done and explained how he would proceed with the repairs. His estimate was competitive with others we received. He was able to work within our time table and now we have a great set of stairs. They look so much better than we have ever seen them. Thank you, Mark.

His work was excellent and he had to deal wit a day or rain in the middle of the 2 day project which made it challenging but he worked through what he had to so we could be ready for 40 guest on Christmas Eve. I have family members in the business and they saw Mark's work and commented on the quality of the final product which looks exceptional. We will be using Mark for more work going forward.
Description of Work: Mark replaced 2 rows of steps and repaired 2 other rows and the railing. He also power washed the other set of stairs before they needed major repairs.

Mark is great. Simple as that. He is honest, honorable and a true craftsman who takes pride in his work. He was referred by a neighbor who had similar work done and quoted a good price to repair a front stoop that was crumbling from within and so loose mortar around the brick steps. What he actually did was much more. He jack-hammered the old stoop and removed all the bricks from the steps. He then rebuilt it completely making it almost new. Mark took the time to do a quality job and clearly took pride in his work. I had him do some additional work around the foundation at my own home (the steps were at a rental property) and I will most certainly hire him again in the future. The only drawback was that he had a long drive to where I am but he never complained about it and seemed happy to do a good job. As I said....Mark is great!

Project went very well. Mark was clear about the areas that needed to be done....and areas that were fine....keeping the cost down. Mark drilled out old mortar and re-pointed nicely. He even matched the color as the original mortar was tinted red. The work was done over a few days and he cleaned up each day. Mark made sure that I was happy with the project.. Most contractors will rush through a job to get to the next site. Mark is unusual in that he really takes the time to be sure that everything is done properly and cleanly. I am lucky to have found him and will be having him come back next year to do my front steps.

The job went great. It came out better than expected. My neighbors are envious of the work and promtly hired Mark for jobs on their property. The job came in under budget even with the walkway and planter repairs. Mark has been doing masonry repairs for me off and on over the last 4 years and always exceeds my expectations. He rebuilt two cement and cinder block staircases for me 4 years ago that had been repaired many times by other masons. He went over the stairs using limestone and bluestone slabs and they look great. His solutions and work have been excellent. The stairs are in great shape and should not need to be repaired again. He has also done work in my basement on the floor and on the foundation. Marks cleans up the work site everyday and thoroughly at the end of the job. He is willing to travel to most any place north and west of Boston. Very easy going guy and easy to get along with. Very honest with prices as well. It is very hard to find someone willing to do small jobs but that is his specialty. Everything went very well and the wall looks great and is very strong. He stopped by a week later on his own to double check his work and even re-cleaned the wall and my driveway as it had been raining alot when he finished the job and it was hard to tell if everything was thoroughly clean. He also fixed a loose railing by replacing the anchoring cement that had come off at no charge. I would and do highly recommend him for any masonry work you may need.
Description of Work: The job was to repair an old crumbling cinder block wall that runs the perimeter of one side of my driveway separating a small garden and a walkway from the driveway. Mark used inexpensive flat stone pieces purchased by the pallet as a veneer to rebuild the wall and part of a walkway that was crumbling and heaving. I did not want to remove the wall and he was able to repair it. The walkway area was hammered out and a new base and concrete was poured by him before installing the veneer. He also used the stone to cap a cinder block planter that the former home owner built into the corner of my foundation. It was awful looking and needed some attention. He had excellent suggestions for using up the stone we bought which is what led to fixing the walkway and planter. He disposed of excess material at my request as I did not want a pile of loose stone in the yard. His knowledge, experience, and suggestions saved me alot of money compared with what I had been led to believe would be needed to fix the wall.
