+ -1 moreThe inspection appeared to be very thorough in that we received a notebook with a fully detailed report and photographs, as well as the same file in PDF format. Unfortunately, the inspector failed to notice a number of wiring and safety deficiencies, including a broken valve on the water heater. This led to our having no hot water later, and when we contacted the gas company, they said the entire heating unit setup area was installed illegally and in violation of the National Gas Fuel Code. It was a serious safety hazard because a bathroom had been installed inside the boiler room, and there was a potential for a gas explosion. We have been forced to hire a plumber and contractor to correct the safety issue and have spent more than $6000 to date. When I spoke to the inspector, he only shrugged me off and said, "We don't look for local code violations." I then spoke with the town's building inspector and he said any competent inspector should have seen this problem. NOT recommended!
Description of Work: We had a complete home inspection, including radon testing, prior to purchasing a house. The purpose was to uncover any safety issues that might make us reconsider buying the property or negotiating with the seller to fix problems or offer a reduced price.
